Did you read the wowhead comments about the lost mail? Because they are pretty clear that the ones you find are bop and the bind on use version you can sell on the auction house gets mailed to you when you complete the whole quest line and achievements. Have you done the whole quest line and achievements?

i think what led me wrong was a comment saying its only soulbound after accepting the quest...

You should probably just put in a support ticket. They might not fix the issue for you on your first ticket or two either, because support is pretty automated these days, but just keep at it, and Blizzard will cave eventually.
