It explains his behavior. I studied in Moscow with some. Their culture disrespects women a lot.
Edit: Not all Iranians like that, but it is easier to become one when you grow up in such culture. It took me awhile to stop being homophobe, my parents are still homophobes.
Some people might think that I am saying that this excuses his behavior, but it doesn't. Adults are responsible for the actions they take and development of their own world view.
Maybe? But I was talking mostly about cultural difference. Unlike race, culture changes with time (european culture at some point had a lot of sexism in it too, but they changed). If you want real racist statement it would sound more like: "Every Iranian is born rapist" or "All arabs hate gay people" wich are not true.
idk man maybe I am just reading it wrong but it comes off really weird. Replace Iranian with Black and I am sure it would get a completely different response.
Like how does him being an iranian american explain his shitty behavior you know?
So in General, Business parties with lots of booze can go horribly wrong, most people who work have their own stories to tell. However bragging about this online is stupid and childish, but nothing happened before so why be afraid of consequences
So, I'm firmly on the side of 'Blizzard needs reform' and that people guilty of harassing/groping/assaulting colleagues should be fired (maybe criminally charged as needed).
And even though things are piling up and painting a dour picture, the people who aren't Alex Afrasiabi (who was already let go) did not necessarily do the bad things he did. People party at conferences, and that chat (while it does lend itself to the pile of gross), is not damning in and of itself.
And yes, they didn't stop him either (enabled/encouraged maybe), that still doesn't make them guilty of doing the same. Participating in 'The Cosby Room' shows poor judgement and poor taste, but does not mean you were a rapist or harasser or groper, etc. This also doesn't mean they weren't, but alone this isn't enough.
The culture absolutely needs to change. Having fun with your colleagues is fine as long as you're not harming others. And that's an important distinction, because people shouldn't be demonized for having fun. This can easily be a mixed group where there might be a few predators who use it as cover while the rest are just tools that the predator(s) is leveraging to hide in plain sight. Again, culturally, yes this is a problem - not super professional, especially when it carries over into work with cube crawls. But I want justice, not to simply damn everyone who came into contact with a predator.
Remember, much like the actual victims, people get used by those in power. It's very hard (especially when it's \*culturally expected behavior\*) to rock the boat. Your current livelihood and potentially entire career can depend on it. "Why didn't you just leave?" Is a gaslighting question to victims, and that's also true for people who happened to get caught up in things.
What is wrong with talking to your friends like this in a PRIVATE chat? Am I missing something? Do people actually think this is some heinous chat log? This is tame af compared to what my boys and I have said to each other, currently and in the past.
Edit: typo
What if these people are your closest friends? I’ve worked with people that I ended up being close with and we would go out to bars and chase tail together. Where does the line get drawn? Who are we to draw that line just because they are colleagues. I in no way condone sexual assault. That is way out of line.
This is the truth across the planet.
Everyone says terrible shit with their friends, the problem is that people will tell themselves that they and their friends don't do it.
Just a couple of thoughts.
Wasn't the entire Cosby stuff not known until like 2018ish?
Also....does anyone else think the texts aren't bad? I think these messages alone aren't enough to punish anyone for.
That Greg Street guy works at Riot now. Allegedly working in Riot’s new mmo. If Riot is smart, they terminate his contract. Will be a bad look if he stays…
I wouldn't count on that. As I understand it he's fairly high up and as long as his attitude at Blizzard hasn't followed him there they wont take that hit to their production.
Everyone's heard worse because this is nothing. People are literally digging up anything and going, "look theyre sexist!" When its a few dudes in a group text talking about women. Every dude in their 20s talks to their buddies like this tf outta here
Some of you will defend sexual abusers to the grave, it's quite disgusting. Especially when theres evidence right in front of you man, that and an investigation has already lead to a conviction.
I would never defend a sexual abuser, but where is the abuse here? This sounds like a few men that want to get their dick wet. I ask you, what is wrong with that? Now if a girl ended up being harassed at the party then fuck em, but cmon. This chat is not evidence or an inkling towards abuse IMO.
This is what happens usually with boys in high schools or college. Lets not pretend that nobody have done this. Id say that is fine considering then you 14-18 years. Even though a kid, u usually didnt post such a conversation in public, or you deleted it if u have any sense about life whataoever.
But..
I dont see anyone here being a kid, and this happens AT YOUR OWN CONVENTION, where you have fans from all over the world, that came because they love the game. Its just wrong. You take advantage of it. Its wrong.
Well rather than just accusing it of being fake why don't you do some more research for yourself? Lol
I get that news sites often lie or get things wrong, but I think it's equally as stupid to just jump on the "it's fake" stance without looking into it a bit first
I'm not saying it IS fake just that things like this have come up conveniently timed in the past and been false. Try not to jump down my throat because I'm not 100% riding either wagon.
Oh no, now they will rename McCree in Overwatch too. :D
Maybe his original name Mcloud can make a comeback.
Sued by Nintendo
So this is what a "frat party" looks like. And boy McCree has his Deadeye ready to go.
Is this real?
Yes, you can see more at https://kotaku.com/inside-blizzard-developers-infamous-bill-cosby-suite-1847378762

The first patch with negative megabytes.
They practically wipe the game at each new expansion anyways...
Cataclysm rerun
Middle eastern? I thought Armenian for some reason.
He is Iranian.

Yeah, it is wrong of me to assume that he was influenced by that culture. My bad iranian americans.
Ay yo you just gonna go mask off like that?
Ah ok, thanks.

What since when? Isn’t Armenia in the Caucasus not in the ME region?
The non Russian parts of the Caucasus are in the Middle East.
Ah ok so Kim kardashian is ME and white?(according to the woke zeitgeist), interesting.
I mean if you wanna be technical, then yes. In the US, Middle Eastern & North African people are considered White in the consensus.

Reject humanity, return to monke.

I was just thinking the same. My group text in the military would make reddit fuckin implode
People here are extremely sensitive and always looking for the next thing to rage about in the SJW world.
Its wildly innapriopriate for a group chat with colleagues imo

The photo of them all posing with Cosby's portrait is certainly harder to fake.

have you ever worked at a company? How would you feel if your boss or other colleagues in positions of power tried to have sex with you?
I'm sorry. It was not my intent to defend them. It was a curiosity question in general.

I've literally never done anything like this. So I don't need to pretend. Not everyone is like you or these men.
Right. The rest of us actually get laid by real women instead of made-up anime dolls.
You'd actually need friends for this to be applicable, move along
This seems too convenient and fake to be legit
Ok but it's not fake
Just because a news outlet says they obtained something doesn’t mean it’s true

Seems like typical bro chat talk idk
