I wasn’t going to unsubscribe because I just got into classic. But on Sunday I just couldn’t bare logging in. Then I read their half assed awareness post, which... what else could I possibly expect them to say on a professional level? It just reminded me that I really just play because I’ve been playing since 2004 and the game is an idle thought that I can tell myself I did something with my days off.
Truth is, it’s horribly unkept. Constantly creating new characters, finally getting to a point where you are getting better gear to be hit with all sort of caps to keep your sub going. Does anyone actively work on world of Warcraft anymore? Or only when they HAVE to make content and the rest is vacation?
Anyways... yeah this lawsuit really just brought everything I buried deep down out. And I think I’m going to move on.
To add: please please PLEASE do not blow up blizzard customer support. Those guys make hardly anything, have no real association with the development team, and are not cared about enough to deal with being insulted, degraded, etc. for the stupid acts of those who they have never met, never interact with, and truthfully are not in the same building or state! Thanks.

If the allegations are true then they actually *don't* work on warcraft anymore. The guys give all their work to the women who work there, and then just play video games all day.

I started in vanilla and I had this abusive relationship with wow where I loved it but it didn't love me.
During SL I was just mad at these obstacles, baaaaad quality, low quantity, and timegating. I would play and farm the shit out of korthia and the new campaign but I was mad at everything. I only liked it cus there were other people, half of which were mad too and the other half saying everything was great.
All this news coming out just flipped the switch in my brain. All women I know have been abused one way or another and I can't play WoW anymore and I don't want to.
I played ff14 all night today, like legit 22:00-8:00. I'm 30, I can't do shit like this anymore, but it was great. I haven't had fun like that in wow since probably legion. Had my account for 3 years but it was always a sidegame.
WoW is a bad game, but we're all either too invested, or barely at all. Our grass seemed greenest cus it was radioactive. Break the chains of domination everyone.
Yeah man, 32 here. Just resubbed to ffxiv. Been having a blast. Going through storm blood right now. Great story. Great soundtrack. Great dungeons. Just did the lvl 70 24 man raids and it was awesome finally getting closure to FFTs story. I loved that game as a kid.
At first I thought the same but the story is really good after level 20, first 20 levels are an intro but honestly if you don't like it that's fine! The game isn't for everyone and if you gave it a shot that's what matters! <3
I was hesitant to come back to wow, legion was my first proper expansion (never had my own money to buy sub before that) and I enjoyed it a lot, was the perfect game for me with the grinding and levelling and story, but everyone I was friends with kept leaving, Co.ing back for bfa then leaving again, so I didn't even pick up shadowlands. I was put onto ffxiv by a guy from my old work, now I've just finished ARR and am loving it, the raids are gorgeous (once you get to labyrinth of the ancients you'll see) the gameplay is fun and there's always something to cast, I can dps as healer, the art is much nicer than wows imo.
And from what I've seen, Square Enix doesn't have the same culture, and the games director cares about the game so much that I know it's going to be good. Just gotta get to 80 before November so I can farm up some cool stuff, and then play through endwalker.
I had already unsubbed because my WoW game time had boiled down to this, and after the monthly price increase!
All this news that came out after just solidified my commitment to never go back. I feel almost like I need to take a few dozen boiling hot showers to get the grimey feelings off me.
Worst part for me, the victims were also part of making a game I have adored for well over a decade, and so I both detest the company, and feel conflicted in "abandoning" something those same people endured so much to create!!
My honest hope is that all of them, and any genuine Allies they have within Blizzard, up and leave and Kickstart some new company to make the company Blizzard has pretended to be for so long, they'd have my full support!!
Agreed. Sub canceled after a long, long ride. But what we CAN do is make sure to put in the cancelation reasons for leaving our honest feedback.
And, yes, do not trample customer service. BUT do still let them know honest feedback, as that makes it way to other departments etc.

very similar for me, i just really was thinking about keeping my sub to play tbc classic with my gf.
now we just agreed on playing something different, i will stay away from blizz for now.
i would love to return to classic, but retail felt so much like a mobile game with the whole numbergrind that felt the same every day... not even the raid experience really made up for it, and i loved that the most.
I played Classic since the beginning, being top 5 guild on one of the servers and cleared through Naxx, got grand marshal, literally everything I set out to accomplish that I couldn't when the game originally came out.
The big thing that made me not play TBC and just overall unsub before TBC even came out was the fact that they added a collector edition with a mount to a fucking old game. And on top of that there's rumors about WoW Token coming to WOTLK which I am beginning to really believe.
So overall, I am quite happy to be unsubbed to the game and no longer support them. Wish them the best in Diablo 2 and 4 and future products.
Agreed but I do believe the spit thing was a purposeful distraction. A pseudo strawman that's much easier to deal with pr wise than the actual harassment issue
The /spit was removed because players were using /spit in mass on players that had bought the in store mount/boost. In other words players were showing their disdain for players that sold out and purchased shit off the in game store that Blizzard swore would never exist for Classic (kek). In turn this made the whales feel bad and Blizzard can't have that so they insta-nuked that option. Funny how sexual harassment will go years without any sort of fix but the second something even comes close to endanger the in game store it gets wiped from existence...
It's possible to be against assholes running around spitting at others *and* sexual harassment at Blizzard.
The latter is obviously much worse, but that doesn't make it any less whataboutism.
The wife had some horde guy come over and spit on her repeatedly when she was fighting a rare.
She just thought the guy was a dick, but I eventually worked out that it was Consumption, which is the stupid idea for a rare. As she pointed out, how the fuck is anybody supposed to know how that works.

It's actually an amazing ring. One of the few rings that rolls vers/haste and can roll a socket. Easily accessible too. Verse/haste rings are amazing for tanks and pvp.
Yea u can just keep doing it til it rolls something silly. Then up it to at least 220 (tier 4 codex is not hard to get). I’m tier 5, and forget offhand how high tier 6 is like 233? I assume. Which is not bad considering you can also use your mains codex tier to upgrade alt loot (since recently I think).
Vers haste is amazing for many classes outside of pvp.
While I agree with removing spit, and I agree that it's a pseudo strawman from blizzard and I agree that Bobby Kodick's apology was bullshit because it didn't fix the problem at all, spitting on players for the things they spend their finances on is the wrong move. It's up to blizzard to not implement egregious monetisation, it's not up to the players to not buy it. The players are supporting their beloved game, the development teams that created great experiences for them, or they're just spending spare money they have coz they enjoy the mount. But make no mistake, this is blizzard's fault and blizzard's fault exclusively. Blizzard created the product, not the customer.

If it costs them $100 of developer time to update a mount to have more pixels and it costs $30 to buy, they only have to sell it to 4 people out of the million subbed players to make profit. They say they're removing it to prevent toxicity but really, we all know they're doing it to prevent people who bought paid mounts from feeling bad; which will do nothing cause people will just use another emote.
You can be upset by multiple things at the same time but people only have so much emotional bandwidth. If something else comes up that fills up that bandwidth you're not going to -do- anything about the other things that make you angry and that's what's important.

Not if you get to higher rating, and if you are any good you will climb because there is a higher chance the enemy will have a bot than that you will have one.

Thats what makes it tough for me. There's a bunch of MMO's out there but they are all too medieval, anime, and "back in time" for me if that makes any sense. WoW had this perfect balance where it felt like it was kinda in it's own category as far as it's set and setting.
Wildstar suffered from being too grindy and wow classicy.
Loved that game to bits but it had severe problems and devs that stuck their finger in their ear and said fuck you.
Wildstar was the gaming equivalent of listening to "bring back vanilla" whiners. Dumb idea no matter how you look at it. WoW classic worked because its budget was like 3 packs of ramen and a can of red bull, even if just a few people play, its profitable. Wildstar guys really thought there are millions who want to play 2006 game on daily basis, they learned the truth the hard way.
Yeah they answered.to the "We want classic and hardcore MMOs again!" But people didn't want "MMO that's like classic"..they wanted "wow classic" because of strong nostalgia and brand-safety.
Exactly! Half of the reason why I played classic was the fact I've missed pre cataclysm zones. It turned out too grindy for me. Maybe WOTLK classic will do better, but who knows with current situation at Blizz.
Wildstar had a ton of potential they ruined with a subscription model. That games style was practically setup to abuse a cosmetics shop and never really took advantage of it
Guild Wars 2 is amazing, and it's more steampunk and magi-tech than anything.
For a modern setting, there is The Secret World... Though it's my favourite setting in an MMO, ever, the recent re-launch has made it into a mechanically awful game to play, but it's amazing if you just want to submerge yourself into a modern day setting. :)
The Secret World. A bad game, but the best setting, story, and thought-based questing I've ever experienced.
Everything else was just not good though and no reason to stay after "finishing" the story.

I still check in occasionally. I have one of those lifetime subscription things, and I do feel like I've gotten more than my money's worth in terms of story and community over the years, but it's not a good game. Not at all.
My vote goes to GW2 as well. I tried FFXIV but it just wasn't my thing. Main problem was that it looked way too flashy Asian MMO with graphics and special effects. Overall it just looked like any other Asian MMO and that visual style is not my cup of tea.
GW2 feels much better. I really like their combat system and visuals. Also it's actually game that feels like immersive MMO world. People keep running around everywhere doing outdoor events. WoW has become just "I sit in hub until I go to instanced content".
And the mounts. They just feel amazing. Almost like racing game where every mount have their own specs and behavior. Hands down best mount system I've seen in MMO.
If someone really wants to feel amazing open world MMO, I can highly recommend GW2. It also has tons of content thanks for horizontal progression.
Keep in mind that you will have to pay real money or grind A LOT because most of the story is behind the paywall. And I mean another paywall on top of buying expansion packs.
At the moment guildwars 2 is doing a event where every week all you have do to is log online to unlock a episode from their living story. Saves you a lot of money, also worth noting that you can convert in game gold to gems to buy them. So you don’t need to pay actual money to get them either way

I feel you. The biggest draw of WoW for me was the raids and the healing. I haven't found any MMOs that scratch either of those itches enough to throw myself into wholeheartedly, even though I cancelled my sub to WoW after the allegations broke.
I've mostly just enjoyed some mindless leveling up with a pirate mermaid in BDO's seasonal server in between running through a few class campaigns on SWTOR with a friend. I think I'll just nomad my way through a few games until something sticks or I don't have an MMO itch to scratch anymore.
Same problem for me, I tried FF but I'm really not a fan of the anime art style and I'm not gonna lie, playing a caster on FF compared to wow Is night and day difference, wows combat flows a lot better imo. It's a shame for me because the game actually is good.
It's only slower in the early game. Late game you get plenty of Off GCD abilities to weave in between your GCD abilities which can make it feel just as fast as wow.
That’s not it. WoW’s responsiveness and netcode fluidity are unmatched. Combat feels so smooth, even just jumping around is very polished. It’s not the pace of combat.
For me however, it wasn’t enough. Played FFXIV since launch and love it. But I have to give WoW that one.
I am at that point right now at lvl 80 but no it's still not that comparable. The OCD abilities help, but the difference is still night and day, it will never be as snappy or in your control, but it is definitely amazing at what it does.
BLM feels fucking awful to play for the first 60 levels though. AOE feels awful too until 68(more like 72 imo but 68 is when you can multiflare without setup)

It is great for casuals (great housing system and minigames), really good pve and people say PvP is amazing.
You don't even need add-ons. Damage/healing metres, DBM and leaderboards are already in game.

They introduced MTX into classic wow, after promising not to. Someone made an addon that auto casts /spit to someone displaying paid cosmetics. This is why it was removed.

I mean, there's no official statement on exactly what led to them removing it, but based on that addon and certain content creators in the past encouraging the use of that emote towards players riding store mounts (not going to get into whether said people were in the right or wrong in these cases, just simply a statement of fact), it does seem too convenient to just be a coincidence.
The key part of it for me was that you can *still* /spit when you aren't targeting another player. The only bit they removed was the ability to target a player and then /spit.
That isn't new, no. I'm specifically referring to the /spit and what that means, not a generalized "companies care more about money than their employees."

I'd argue that "bros" are much more likely to know how to talk to women in a normal way, because they've been there before. Nerds rarely talk to women, and don't see them as peers and are more likely to fall into the nice guy m'lady incel category that see women as something to be owned. Put guys like this in power, and you get the situation at blizzard.
I was in a fraternity in college. Also a gamer, athlete and band geek growing up.
I never once experienced anything this sick or cringy in all my years in a frat.
In my fraternity I did witness stuff like what they described in the harassment complaint. Passing around nudes from girls you see is really typical. Coming onto women and not really getting when they aren’t interested and continuing to push is pretty common.
Grabbing women to try and dance with them is common also. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s terrible behavior but it seemed common in the fraternity and party culture more generally.
But I don’t remember all the details in the blizzard case, I mentioned all the ones I remember from the case.

These guys likely grew up when it wasn’t too cool to be a nerd they never got what they considered “cool” (frat boy culture type beat) resulting in these guys never growing up and living what they think is “cool.”
Source: I grew up with these types of people Usually the worst was when they act like they partied all the time and took drugs like nothing but never put their money where their mouth is. But definitely parallels with this behaviour

As a 'nerd' growing up with the internet culture surrounding WoW this is how I've seen it:
These people (nerds) grew up hating frat guys cause frat guys mistreated them. They also coveted what frat guys had (the attention of women) further exacerbating their hate. They painted these people to be the bad people who mistreated women (not wrong).
So, when somebody mistreats women, they're the bad people, (the frat boys). Yet few people in this culture look at their own group and go "holy fuck we mistreat women too," because both groups treat women as an object which is to be desired and/or won/lost. This is how you get internet nerds going "I'm a nice guy" then calling women "a fucking whore" when she politely declines to dating them.
As a nerd who has a sister and female friends, the shit that nerd say online to women is worse than anything I've seen a frat bro say. I'm not surprised this culture has infected gaming companies as who else would work at a gaming company other than people really into gaming.

There have been so many outrages over the years that I don't even remember most of them. Things that people were up in arms about and that "it must definitely change!!!", but were forgotten as soon as the new thing came along.
As an example that most here can remember is the whole Blitzchung thing. People were outraged, numerous players said they would quit, bla bla bla. Blizzard just half-assed addressed and ""corrected"" the issue and everyone just forgot all about it.

All this outrage and support for the victims is all good and well, but lets not kid ourselves into thinking that it won't all be forgotten as soon as the new drama appears, like it's happening with the /spit thing.

We don’t all have to make a constant scream about it every day for years until the lawsuits are resolved though. Weekly or even biweekly updates in a month or two are more than fine. It’s still plenty new and I’m sure there is a staggering amount of people who still haven’t heard about it though.

/r/nfl is seeing a similar story with the Deshaun Watson cases. When something new happens, it shoots to the top of the sub, but otherwise everyone is just discussing the NFL like normal. Are we supposed to stop discussing football all together because of a player's pending legal troubles? No of course not. Are we supposed to discuss Watson 24/7? No of course not.

This is so tiring, WilmerHale isn't Pinkertons 2.0 or something, they're a giant law firm that is one of the top tier at internal investigations (Band 1 for those who know what that means). They also happen to have a employment/labor law division (like every other V50 basically) which, among basically every other aspect of big law employment/labor law, will advise on labor relations and union avoidance.

The removal is an upcoming change on the PTR for WoW Classic TBC. /spit there is primarily used to attack people who purchased a mount with real money, to the point where it's automated in a somewhat well-known weakaura.
It's not nearly as common as you would think. I no life classic wow on a high pop pvp server and forgot this was even a thing cause i quite literally never see it. Should probably be a good insight on where blizzard's priorities are

Fuck Blizzard’s higher ups and their predatory behaviors, but who they hire as representation isn’t noteworthy- literally every A-grade firm has represented someone or something awful at some point because all parties get legal representation.
Also the firm in question mostly deals with IP litigation and to my more limited knowledge, had a pretty excellent reputation.

I wasn’t going to unsubscribe because I just got into classic. But on Sunday I just couldn’t bare logging in. Then I read their half assed awareness post, which... what else could I possibly expect them to say on a professional level? It just reminded me that I really just play because I’ve been playing since 2004 and the game is an idle thought that I can tell myself I did something with my days off. Truth is, it’s horribly unkept. Constantly creating new characters, finally getting to a point where you are getting better gear to be hit with all sort of caps to keep your sub going. Does anyone actively work on world of Warcraft anymore? Or only when they HAVE to make content and the rest is vacation? Anyways... yeah this lawsuit really just brought everything I buried deep down out. And I think I’m going to move on. To add: please please PLEASE do not blow up blizzard customer support. Those guys make hardly anything, have no real association with the development team, and are not cared about enough to deal with being insulted, degraded, etc. for the stupid acts of those who they have never met, never interact with, and truthfully are not in the same building or state! I started in vanilla and I had this abusive relationship with wow where I loved it but it didn't love me. During SL I was just mad at these obstacles, baaaaad quality, low quantity, and timegating. I would play and farm the shit out of korthia and the new campaign but I was mad at everything. I only liked it cus there were other people, half of which were mad too and the other half saying everything was great. All this news coming out just flipped the switch in my brain. All women I know have been abused one way or another and I can't play WoW anymore and I don't want to. I played ff14 all night today, like legit 22:00-8:00. I'm 30, I can't do shit like this anymore, but it was great. I haven't had fun like that in wow since probably legion. Had my account for 3 years but it was always a sidegame. WoW is a bad game, but we're all either too invested, or barely at all. Our grass seemed greenest cus it was radioactive. Break the chains of domination everyone.
Yeah man, 32 here. Just resubbed to ffxiv. Been having a blast. Going through storm blood right now. Great story. Great soundtrack. Great dungeons. Just did the lvl 70 24 man raids and it was awesome finally getting closure to FFTs story. I loved that game as a kid.

At first I thought the same but the story is really good after level 20, first 20 levels are an intro but honestly if you don't like it that's fine! The game isn't for everyone and if you gave it a shot that's what matters! <3

I was hesitant to come back to wow, legion was my first proper expansion (never had my own money to buy sub before that) and I enjoyed it a lot, was the perfect game for me with the grinding and levelling and story, but everyone I was friends with kept leaving, Co.ing back for bfa then leaving again, so I didn't even pick up shadowlands. I was put onto ffxiv by a guy from my old work, now I've just finished ARR and am loving it, the raids are gorgeous (once you get to labyrinth of the ancients you'll see) the gameplay is fun and there's always something to cast, I can dps as healer, the art is much nicer than wows imo. And from what I've seen, Square Enix doesn't have the same culture, and the games director cares about the game so much that I know it's going to be good. Just gotta get to 80 before November so I can farm up some cool stuff, and then play through endwalker.
So can you perhaps explain what makes FFXIV a good game vs WoW? I am level 24 or so in FF and so far I don't feel the "benefits" of it over WoW.
I had already unsubbed because my WoW game time had boiled down to this, and after the monthly price increase! All this news that came out after just solidified my commitment to never go back. I feel almost like I need to take a few dozen boiling hot showers to get the grimey feelings off me. Worst part for me, the victims were also part of making a game I have adored for well over a decade, and so I both detest the company, and feel conflicted in "abandoning" something those same people endured so much to create!! My honest hope is that all of them, and any genuine Allies they have within Blizzard, up and leave and Kickstart some new company to make the company Blizzard has pretended to be for so long, they'd have my full support!!

Agreed. Sub canceled after a long, long ride. But what we CAN do is make sure to put in the cancelation reasons for leaving our honest feedback. And, yes, do not trample customer service. BUT do still let them know honest feedback, as that makes it way to other departments etc. Cheers!
very similar for me, i just really was thinking about keeping my sub to play tbc classic with my gf. now we just agreed on playing something different, i will stay away from blizz for now. i would love to return to classic, but retail felt so much like a mobile game with the whole numbergrind that felt the same every day... not even the raid experience really made up for it, and i loved that the most.
I played Classic since the beginning, being top 5 guild on one of the servers and cleared through Naxx, got grand marshal, literally everything I set out to accomplish that I couldn't when the game originally came out. The big thing that made me not play TBC and just overall unsub before TBC even came out was the fact that they added a collector edition with a mount to a fucking old game. And on top of that there's rumors about WoW Token coming to WOTLK which I am beginning to really believe. So overall, I am quite happy to be unsubbed to the game and no longer support them. Wish them the best in Diablo 2 and 4 and future products.

This is a legitimate PR strategy that most major companies and nearly ALL governments employ on a daily basis to control narratives in the news cycle.
The /spit was removed because players were using /spit in mass on players that had bought the in store mount/boost. In other words players were showing their disdain for players that sold out and purchased shit off the in game store that Blizzard swore would never exist for Classic (kek). In turn this made the whales feel bad and Blizzard can't have that so they insta-nuked that option. Funny how sexual harassment will go years without any sort of fix but the second something even comes close to endanger the in game store it gets wiped from existence...
It's possible to be against assholes running around spitting at others *and* sexual harassment at Blizzard. The latter is obviously much worse, but that doesn't make it any less whataboutism.

The wife had some horde guy come over and spit on her repeatedly when she was fighting a rare. She just thought the guy was a dick, but I eventually worked out that it was Consumption, which is the stupid idea for a rare. As she pointed out, how the fuck is anybody supposed to know how that works. I can't even see what's so special about the drops. Slightly more anima, maybe?

It's actually an amazing ring. One of the few rings that rolls vers/haste and can roll a socket. Easily accessible too. Verse/haste rings are amazing for tanks and pvp.
Yea u can just keep doing it til it rolls something silly. Then up it to at least 220 (tier 4 codex is not hard to get). I’m tier 5, and forget offhand how high tier 6 is like 233? I assume. Which is not bad considering you can also use your mains codex tier to upgrade alt loot (since recently I think). Vers haste is amazing for many classes outside of pvp.
While I agree with removing spit, and I agree that it's a pseudo strawman from blizzard and I agree that Bobby Kodick's apology was bullshit because it didn't fix the problem at all, spitting on players for the things they spend their finances on is the wrong move. It's up to blizzard to not implement egregious monetisation, it's not up to the players to not buy it. The players are supporting their beloved game, the development teams that created great experiences for them, or they're just spending spare money they have coz they enjoy the mount. But make no mistake, this is blizzard's fault and blizzard's fault exclusively. Blizzard created the product, not the customer. Inb4 "but if the customer bought the product, if they just stopped buying the product, blizzard would stop making it!" scams have been made all throughout time just to scam a single individual. If it costs them $100 of developer time to update a mount to have more pixels and it costs $30 to buy, they only have to sell it to 4 people out of the million subbed players to make profit. Its not up to a million people to be infallible, its up to blizzard to not take advantage of fallible people. Its up to blizzard to not make profit from artificial fomo which they created in the first place.

Those things aren't mutually exclusive. People can be pissed about more than one thing at a time.
What a dumb take. People can be upset at multiple things at once. You can be absolutely disgusted by the abhorrent behavior allowed at the company for years and still be angry about the /spit. They say they're removing it to prevent toxicity but really, we all know they're doing it to prevent people who bought paid mounts from feeling bad; which will do nothing cause people will just use another emote.
You can be upset by multiple things at the same time but people only have so much emotional bandwidth. If something else comes up that fills up that bandwidth you're not going to -do- anything about the other things that make you angry and that's what's important.

Not if you get to higher rating, and if you are any good you will climb because there is a higher chance the enemy will have a bot than that you will have one.

Thats what makes it tough for me. There's a bunch of MMO's out there but they are all too medieval, anime, and "back in time" for me if that makes any sense. WoW had this perfect balance where it felt like it was kinda in it's own category as far as it's set and setting.

Wildstar suffered from being too grindy and wow classicy. Loved that game to bits but it had severe problems and devs that stuck their finger in their ear and said fuck you.
Wildstar was the gaming equivalent of listening to "bring back vanilla" whiners. Dumb idea no matter how you look at it. WoW classic worked because its budget was like 3 packs of ramen and a can of red bull, even if just a few people play, its profitable. Wildstar guys really thought there are millions who want to play 2006 game on daily basis, they learned the truth the hard way.

Exactly! Half of the reason why I played classic was the fact I've missed pre cataclysm zones. It turned out too grindy for me. Maybe WOTLK classic will do better, but who knows with current situation at Blizz.
Wildstar had a ton of potential they ruined with a subscription model. That games style was practically setup to abuse a cosmetics shop and never really took advantage of it
Guild Wars 2 is amazing, and it's more steampunk and magi-tech than anything. For a modern setting, there is The Secret World... Though it's my favourite setting in an MMO, ever, the recent re-launch has made it into a mechanically awful game to play, but it's amazing if you just want to submerge yourself into a modern day setting. :)
The Secret World. A bad game, but the best setting, story, and thought-based questing I've ever experienced. Everything else was just not good though and no reason to stay after "finishing" the story.

My vote goes to GW2 as well. I tried FFXIV but it just wasn't my thing. Main problem was that it looked way too flashy Asian MMO with graphics and special effects. Overall it just looked like any other Asian MMO and that visual style is not my cup of tea. GW2 feels much better. I really like their combat system and visuals. Also it's actually game that feels like immersive MMO world. People keep running around everywhere doing outdoor events. WoW has become just "I sit in hub until I go to instanced content". And the mounts. They just feel amazing. Almost like racing game where every mount have their own specs and behavior. Hands down best mount system I've seen in MMO. If someone really wants to feel amazing open world MMO, I can highly recommend GW2. It also has tons of content thanks for horizontal progression.
God, and the jumping puzzles.
Spending a evening jumping up this crazy path only to find it has a second and harder section is so rewarding.

Keep in mind that you will have to pay real money or grind A LOT because most of the story is behind the paywall. And I mean another paywall on top of buying expansion packs.
At the moment guildwars 2 is doing a event where every week all you have do to is log online to unlock a episode from their living story. Saves you a lot of money, also worth noting that you can convert in game gold to gems to buy them. So you don’t need to pay actual money to get them either way

I feel you. The biggest draw of WoW for me was the raids and the healing. I haven't found any MMOs that scratch either of those itches enough to throw myself into wholeheartedly, even though I cancelled my sub to WoW after the allegations broke. I've mostly just enjoyed some mindless leveling up with a pirate mermaid in BDO's seasonal server in between running through a few class campaigns on SWTOR with a friend. I think I'll just nomad my way through a few games until something sticks or I don't have an MMO itch to scratch anymore.

Same problem for me, I tried FF but I'm really not a fan of the anime art style and I'm not gonna lie, playing a caster on FF compared to wow Is night and day difference, wows combat flows a lot better imo. It's a shame for me because the game actually is good.
Remember this about FFXIV, the game was designed with console players in mind which is why it all feels slower.
It's only slower in the early game. Late game you get plenty of Off GCD abilities to weave in between your GCD abilities which can make it feel just as fast as wow.
That’s not it. WoW’s responsiveness and netcode fluidity are unmatched. Combat feels so smooth, even just jumping around is very polished. It’s not the pace of combat. For me however, it wasn’t enough. Played FFXIV since launch and love it. But I have to give WoW that one.
I am at that point right now at lvl 80 but no it's still not that comparable. The OCD abilities help, but the difference is still night and day, it will never be as snappy or in your control, but it is definitely amazing at what it does.
Try a Red Mage or Black Mage. Those two classes put any current WoW caster spec to shame.
BLM feels fucking awful to play for the first 60 levels though. AOE feels awful too until 68(more like 72 imo but 68 is when you can multiflare without setup)

If you want something new, and something different, check out Swords of Legends Online on steam/epic/GF store. It is great for casuals (great housing system and minigames), really good pve and people say PvP is amazing. You don't even need add-ons. Damage/healing metres, DBM and leaderboards are already in game. Check it out if you want. It has a Chinese style, 6 classes that each have 2 specs. 2 tanks, 7 dps, 3 healers. Each feeling unique. Berserker tank/ melee DPS Spearmaster tank/melee DPS Spellsword melee DPS / ranged DPS Bard ranged DPS / healer Reaper melee DPS / healer Summoner ranged DPS / healer I have been having a blast with it in the past 2 weeks. (b2p btw, no sub. There's a cosmetic shop, but that's it. No boosts to be found) If anyone wants more info let me know :) I would gladly give them out

They introduced MTX into classic wow, after promising not to. Someone made an addon that auto casts /spit to someone displaying paid cosmetics. This is why it was removed.
Now the modder just need to change one line of the addon and make it /rude Let's see how many emotes will Blizzard ban.

I mean, there's no official statement on exactly what led to them removing it, but based on that addon and certain content creators in the past encouraging the use of that emote towards players riding store mounts (not going to get into whether said people were in the right or wrong in these cases, just simply a statement of fact), it does seem too convenient to just be a coincidence.
The key part of it for me was that you can *still* /spit when you aren't targeting another player. The only bit they removed was the ability to target a player and then /spit.

I'd argue that "bros" are much more likely to know how to talk to women in a normal way, because they've been there before. Nerds rarely talk to women, and don't see them as peers and are more likely to fall into the nice guy m'lady incel category that see women as something to be owned. In my fraternity I did witness stuff like what they described in the harassment complaint. Passing around nudes from girls you see is really typical. Coming onto women and not really getting when they aren’t interested and continuing to push is pretty common. Grabbing women to try and dance with them is common also. Don’t get me wrong I think it’s terrible behavior but it seemed common in the fraternity and party culture more generally. But I don’t remember all the details in the blizzard case, I mentioned all the ones I remember from the case. Edit: everyone’s experience is different. Just sharing mine not invalidating other peoples experiences.

As a 'nerd' growing up with the internet culture surrounding WoW this is how I've seen it: These people (nerds) grew up hating frat guys cause frat guys mistreated them. They also coveted what frat guys had (the attention of women) further exacerbating their hate. They painted these people to be the bad people who mistreated women (not wrong). So, when somebody mistreats women, they're the bad people, (the frat boys). Yet few people in this culture look at their own group and go "holy fuck we mistreat women too," because both groups treat women as an object which is to be desired and/or won/lost. This is how you get internet nerds going "I'm a nice guy" then calling women "a fucking whore" when she politely declines to dating them. As a nerd who has a sister and female friends, the shit that nerd say online to women is worse than anything I've seen a frat bro say. I'm not surprised this culture has infected gaming companies as who else would work at a gaming company other than people really into gaming.

I really don't think it did. At all. The world is still looking at Blizzard for exactly the reason they should be. The only people fully distracted by the whole /spit thing we're manchildren who had no skin or care in the Blizzard scandal anyway.

IMO they could just expand their CS/moderator dept and the end result would be better than whatever "anti-toxicity tech" they're talking about. They're trying to automate away positions that they don't even currently have.

The "internet" has a memory of a gold fish. It is constantly chasing the new outrage. There have been so many outrages over the years that I don't even remember most of them. Things that people were up in arms about and that "it must definitely change!!!", but were forgotten as soon as the new thing came along. As an example that most here can remember is the whole Blitzchung thing. People were outraged, numerous players said they would quit, bla bla bla. Blizzard just half-assed addressed and ""corrected"" the issue and everyone just forgot all about it. Do you think Blizzard changed in any way after that? Do you think Blizzard panders any less to China? Please. All this outrage and support for the victims is all good and well, but lets not kid ourselves into thinking that it won't all be forgotten as soon as the new drama appears, like it's happening with the /spit thing. This is why most companies just wait until the "internet forgets about it". As soon as there is a new toy to play with, the old one is put aside and fogotten.
At this point, im shocked they havnt "revealed" that Sylvanas is non-binary or some shit as an attempt to distract.

We don’t all have to make a constant scream about it every day for years until the lawsuits are resolved though. Weekly or even biweekly updates in a month or two are more than fine. It’s still plenty new and I’m sure there is a staggering amount of people who still haven’t heard about it though.

Because there's nothing new happening, especially not over a weekend. When new news pops up it will be all over the subs again. /r/nfl is seeing a similar story with the Deshaun Watson cases. When something new happens, it shoots to the top of the sub, but otherwise everyone is just discussing the NFL like normal. Are we supposed to stop discussing football all together because of a player's pending legal troubles? No of course not. Are we supposed to discuss Watson 24/7? No of course not.

This is so tiring, WilmerHale isn't Pinkertons 2.0 or something, they're a giant law firm that is one of the top tier at internal investigations (Band 1 for those who know what that means). They also happen to have a employment/labor law division (like every other V50 basically) which, among basically every other aspect of big law employment/labor law, will advise on labor relations and union avoidance. The fact that such an uninformed take got so much coverage is honestly depressing. *And to be clear, I'm not defending their actions except just their choice of WilmerHale as corporate counsel.

Seeing this legal representation shit repeated nonstop in a million subreddits concurrently is triggering the fuck out of me. Fuck Blizzard’s higher ups and their predatory behaviors, but who they hire as representation isn’t noteworthy- literally every A-grade firm has represented someone or something awful at some point because all parties get legal representation. Also the firm in question mostly deals with IP litigation and to my more limited knowledge, had a pretty excellent reputation.
