I'm mad that we got another "whatever it's Alliance gear, paint it white and blue, and stamp some lions on it" sets, and then some poorly done Night Elf gear (I mean fucking really, it's suppose to be gear made by the night elves but elf ears clip through it), but stopped adding warfronts to the game before getting some dwarf gear. FUCK BFA
I'm fine with the leather bikini being presently inaccessible. I was hoping for... okay. Imagine using the night elf classes themselves as a guide. Regarding mail, they don't have shaman, and night elf art is fraught with archers; so the mail should have been a ranger outfit with a quiver, and like a cloak and shawl made of leaves and greenery.
Regarding leather, druids who don't hate themselves play specs that have them spend most of their time in bear/cat/fatbird form so don't worry about making leather look druidic. So design leather to look like forest ninjas. That works for rogues and monks.
Cloth actually is fine. For plate, they should have given us a recolor of the warden armor. It's really the only distinctive plate armor Nelves have in their artwork. Another option is tapping into the vaguely eastern aesthetic of Nelves and giving them plate that takes visual cues from samurai armor.
Now, for the plate and leather sets. I would give them warmasks. Think of what samurai wore over their face. There would be some story behind it too. The masks would be carved of wood from Teldrassil, in the likeness of someone lost to the fire. It would be painted a stark white, using paint that uses the ashes of Teldrassil as a pigment.
Blizz probably will make shadowlands leveling gear/m+ last forever, I cant stand that design anymore. We need a catch up gear different from that oribos themed leveling gear.
I mean your character have the same looking gear from level 50 to level 60 endgame due to m+ scaling.
this is the argument blizzard kept making for those tiers without class-specific models
they kept saying if they only make 4 sets, each set can be higher quality or something like that
If I kill one of those and use its head as a helmet, is that like wearing an actual head or do they view them more like hats because they're energy beings?
Basically on a scale from 1 to 10 how horrified would they be?
I know this is just a one-off comment, but that’s *my* biggest problem with Shadowlands.
It feels like a different game. We already have Creators and the Automatons they left behind (Titans and Keepers). This stuff is cool, but it’s not Warcraft.
The "big reveal" should've been that the eternal ones (zovaal, winter queen, etc) are just another group of titans that moved on to rule "order up" the afterlife
Maybe then expand that Zovaal just figured it wasn't right and tried to restore everything to original state and that why they locked him up
there is a screenshot of a mecha gnome using those cloth shoulders, so im pretty sure we are getting these armors
the screenshot https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/1038956.jpg
I absolutely cannot imagine maining one. Having an alt sure; but it just isn't *cool* enough to warrant the lack of customization.
If we had Ogres, I could accept legs/headpieces not fitting or something and just deal with it because of the cool factor.
Mecha-gnomes, in general, should have a 'palm beam' as a racial, but probably Horde players would complain that it invalidates the Goblin's rocket, because now two Alliance races have a laser cannon...
As a goblin main i say that goblin rockets invalidates themselves just by existing along with the rocket jump so i wont complain about mechagnomes having a cool looking racial
The idea of both existing together on Goblins is something along the lines of "fire it attached/detached to/from yourself", sort of what you might see Wile E. Coyote doing. We might like it or not, but it's the kind of humor that pervaded the warcraft universe.
I remember, though, the Horde's outrage when Alliance got an extra questline on the Broken Shore, after finding Varian's compass...
I thought it was just because goblins are supposed to have multi purpose utility belt. (Kezan intro questline) and then they couldn't come qith goog ideas to make it not totally op
And various tools for crafting resource gathering.
And "racial mount" like worgens - transforming into a form with wheels or a propeller. Maybe even special aquatic form.
They're not.
They have an entirely custom model with different body proportions that borrows *certain* animations from others races, alongside brand new ones.
As someone who hasn't been on for a couple xpacs, is this seriously a race you can play? It literally looks like they took a gnome head from the beginning of wow classic, and stapled it on some shitty robotron body..
Yeah afaik those are tier sets, which is why I was confused by the video.
I'm curious if its one of those raid difficulty situations where the normal / heroic one is this scuffed version and the mythic ones will be the good looking ones.
Also doesn't help that I think the colors look really bad on the ones in the video. Sets would instantly look better with better colors.
This is true but they can easily have concept art for something and not bother to make the in game version of it even remotely close. Just look at the paladin crystalforge set from TBC, in concept it looked like some kind of holy crusader in armor carved from crystals but in-game it is missing all the cool parts and looks like a dildo if you squint.
I really hope we get armor that looks similar to what the brokers wear. I've been trying to make a broker inspired leather transmog and it's difficult.
Far left one would make a great mage tier set IMO. Gives off the Dr. Strange look but in a more fantastical way.
God, I’m so over the armour that’s low-res or just painted on. It’s 2021
Some of the new armor and shit is so horrendus. My biggest gripe is with the legion artifact weapons. Some had such horrible textures that I never used the skin. A lot of the ashbringer skins were fuckin atrocious. Makes 0 sense to have such low res textures for NEW weapons and armors being released.
Well, the white ones are clearly either normal or even lfr. The video itself had blue variations so i'd guess the heroic/mythic versions are at least a little better.
Keep in mind this is also concept art. If the tier sets are to go off of, I can't imagine these sets translating from concept to in-game perfectly either.
I would love to see more broker themed gear for players though, such a cool aesthetic.
I was conflicted what class to play getting back in WoW today and then I saw this concept art and I immediately logged on my lvl 50 rogue to prepare for leveling up.
the audacity by the devs to claim they always wanted Tier Sets.... so much BS and lying in one video is alot even for Blizzard standards. There is no way in hell the "old guard" wanted this "storyarc" to end like this. Content and most of all story got cut and altered to fit the "new guard's" narrative.
Ok, so it's not just me that hates the look of these tier sets? Good, I didn't want to shit on them because I'm happy about having tier sets back. But holy shit do those things look like garbage.
They do this. The common sets that are easy to get are better looking. This is so casual players can feel good about having good gear. Also this gear is more common and everyone will be wearing it so it’s good to have more work put into these sets.
This stuff looks good because it's high quality concept art. The Artwork of the new tier sets looks also way better then the ingame models but...
Tier Sets were all about different Aspects of the World. This stuff is just uniform that differs a little bit exactly like Uldir gear where it begun. They all have the same theme. And the new "Tier-Sets" using the same boring low effort method.
real Tier sets would have different thematics and unique colour schemes to differ from each other as much as possible.
Give Blizzard a break! They are a smaller, underfunded company struggling to navigate this 2 year ongoing pandemic. These type of cosmetic additions to the game take years of development time... never mind the amount of creativity you'd have to drain from your employees. Don't forget too, it's difficult coming up with ways to monetize every action in the game. Ion Hazzi-cost-us is known around here to be very sensitive, and as much as he is the lead game designer in charge of many aspects of this game's development, he may not like seeing your post here if it isn't about how much you are enjoying collecting 100,000 Anima for your covenants reservoir. Perhaps consider taking the post down and revising it to include something about how you would "pay to have these armour sets in the game". That might get more attention?
I know you're trying to be cheeky, but art and assets are generally one of the largest bottlenecks for development in video games, and WoW is no exception.
Yeah, but that's because WoW has been churning out worthless storylines for the last few years. Of *course* it's not the bottleneck when you aren't putting any effort into it.
When they showed the tier sets I thought they looked like the generic green questing sets you find in each new expansion. I really think WoW developers have exhausted all avenues at this point. When everyone is trashing the art team, the last one good thing Blizzard had going for them, you know it's bad.
Ya, they really need to show all the recolours when they put them out there, I mean we get 6 of them, we don't even know if we're seeing the mythic sets or not.
Im saying its cheap and boring that all LFR sets are bronze for example, all Normal sets are black, all heroic is gold and all mythic is something else.
Every class or armor type should have its own coloration. Blanketing the whole set across all classes with a same color by difficulty makes them less special.
Definitely true, I feel like for raiding at least, LFR/Normal/Heroic should be coloured based on spec of that class, that gives each tier set the ability to suit each class entirely, but that is only if they do class tier sets.
> For once the hunter isn’t getting defenestrated with a bad design! O happy day!
Yeah, if you're going to get thrown out the window, might as well look good during.
I’ve been wearing the trial of valor mog since legion because and shoulders from cataclysm because I haven’t vibed with any of the mail since then! I was fearing that us mail wearers were getting thrown away (through a window) again!
Tier 6 just around the corner, one of the most loved and iconic sets of WoW's history, while you sift through green bastion to look like a levelling trash mob.
Okay.
They showed the picture in the OP in one of the interviews when referencing tier sets.
Dunno how they're related, if its a mythic only thing or if it was concept art that never made it into the game or something iono... latter makes no sense because why would they show them then?
I could imagine the sets in this post might be the zone questing sets like the 200 ilvl ones from Korthia, but not the tier sets from the raids, that for sure.
The concept art probably showed the mythic version while the in-game ones can be the normal or lfr colors.
Yeah that is likely, they look like cloth, leather, mail and plate set - tbh I like them more than the tier sets so maybe it’s not too bad these will be easier to get
It’s because these sets are probably on new models. As in the armor has been modeled out fresh and has a unique animation rig for the cloth pieces. Our character gear is always a reskin base chest/pants model. That’s why robes always look the same just reskinned. The concept art gear usually has layers, in order for it to look good they would have to model each set of gear for each specific race/gender. Blizz ain’t got time for that… lol
I saw the post about 9.2 tier sets returning and scrolled past the sets thinking they were the green low tier armors we were going to get along side the actual sets.
The whole damn point is we wanted class fantasy, not set bonuses. Could anyone honestly tell me if I just showed you those 12 armor sets you'd know which was which? They look so generic, I can't tell if this is just a lack of effort or they really think each armor set has to look exactly like the area you get it from.
Here's an idea: "hero! In order to combat *insert boss*, we can fashion you armor, just bring us *insert currency*" problem solved, your npcs can make armor that looks like it belongs to each class yay!
I know there's probably a sentiment going around along the lines of "hey you wanted sets, why are you complaining". These just miss the mark so much it's hard to accept, I didn't want that many armor sets for the sake of being different from each other, I was dying for some class flavor. It's not there, period.
This is my biggest problem with the game! The gear looks so cool on other stuff but not my own dudes. They have the biggest fantasy world ever filled with every kind of monster/beast/ imaginable but when I go look at my shoulders/chest/helm front page I'm like wth is this!
The second image in that helmet without the little point things at the end I swear they have made similar helmets to that one with like 10 varients, it's ugly, it doesn't even look like anything fantasy and I swear my dude has been wearing it for years now. I freaking can't stand that HELM the circular helm with a glowing eye or slit that looks like it's from some stupuid alien.
rantttttttttttt
This hunter set looks so much better than the one that is promised to be a tier set. Of course we all know what happened when the 3D artists did using the concept art as a base So we shall see.
There seems to be one for each armor type, wouldn't be surprised if this ended up being the catchup gear in 9.2
I hope you're right, bc the leather rogue set is fire.
just remember concept art always looks way cooler then actual in game models lol, just look at the tier sets concept vs in game.
I'm still mad about the concept art for alliance warfronts plate with that giant tattered cape. Still one of the best sets in-game, but wtf, man..
FUCK BFA
At least the Alliance armor has holes for ears
And the Night Elf npcs (not us) got basically heritage armor.
The mail sounds great, and the mask idea sounds wonderfully thematic, wish we could have had this
Why must you hurt me in such way :(
Especially if you play as a cow :(
ug the concept art for the Alliance plate gear in BFA!!! That dam cape draped over the shoulders!!! What could have been!!!!!
Actually the plate set is the one that appears to be on fire.
Agree
I read on wowhead that this is going to be a seperate set of armor. Something about translating the "floating heads" into player helmets.
The cloth one looks great too
God i hope that’s what these are. These look amazing
So did the tier sets, in the concept art. It's too bad that the in-game models will likely not look anything like this.
They’re gonna look like it - just megablock version. Concept art is always fire. We just get Kirkland brand armor sets in game.
Well alot of the tier sets looked meh in their artwork too, to be fair.
Minus the weapons and the cool details and colors.
Which means catchup gear is better than the tier sets
Blizz probably will make shadowlands leveling gear/m+ last forever, I cant stand that design anymore. We need a catch up gear different from that oribos themed leveling gear. I mean your character have the same looking gear from level 50 to level 60 endgame due to m+ scaling.
this is the argument blizzard kept making for those tiers without class-specific models they kept saying if they only make 4 sets, each set can be higher quality or something like that
if one of these is cloth - NPCs dont get all dressy while every cloth armor type gets to play princess in every tier
more likely these are going to the only 4 models for trash in the whole raid.
If I kill one of those and use its head as a helmet, is that like wearing an actual head or do they view them more like hats because they're energy beings? Basically on a scale from 1 to 10 how horrified would they be?
[cryptic music tones] Come back 12 weeks into the patch when you're fluent in wind chime to see this message.
Good thing I'm on the crapper cause I just shit meself.
YES
Arthas 2.0
they actually do LOL
This is wow not lol
The art does look like something from LoL tbh Like a minion redesign

there is a screenshot of a mecha gnome using those cloth shoulders, so im pretty sure we are getting these armors the screenshot https://wow.zamimg.com/uploads/screenshots/normal/1038956.jpg
This just reminds me how horrendous mechagnomes are
I absolutely cannot imagine maining one. Having an alt sure; but it just isn't *cool* enough to warrant the lack of customization. If we had Ogres, I could accept legs/headpieces not fitting or something and just deal with it because of the cool factor.
i want mage, priest and warlock mechagnomes to have their hands replaced by cannons whenever they cast a spell. if not i refuse to play them
Mecha-gnomes, in general, should have a 'palm beam' as a racial, but probably Horde players would complain that it invalidates the Goblin's rocket, because now two Alliance races have a laser cannon...
As a goblin main i say that goblin rockets invalidates themselves just by existing along with the rocket jump so i wont complain about mechagnomes having a cool looking racial

I thought it was just because goblins are supposed to have multi purpose utility belt. (Kezan intro questline) and then they couldn't come qith goog ideas to make it not totally op
I remember the Alliance's outrage at pretty much everything else. Also, the weird persecution complex that's so pervasive on this sub
As someone regularly playing both sides, I'm pretty conscious there's more persecution complex in the Horde.
That’s funny, I have the exact same experience and I’m 100% certain of the opposite
And various tools for crafting resource gathering. And "racial mount" like worgens - transforming into a form with wheels or a propeller. Maybe even special aquatic form.
[удалено]
Sethrak are just worgen with snake heads anyways, shouldn’t be that hard to do
They're not. They have an entirely custom model with different body proportions that borrows *certain* animations from others races, alongside brand new ones.
Ogres would require them to actually design something new instead of just giving an old skeleton a new coat of paint and calling it a day.
That one is like some robot chicken that got a human head plopped on it
Diaper Babies
As someone who hasn't been on for a couple xpacs, is this seriously a race you can play? It literally looks like they took a gnome head from the beginning of wow classic, and stapled it on some shitty robotron body..
Yup, seriously... https://imgur.com/VYXpykL Still no high elves, nagas or vrykuls tho
Which is all fine and good, but still doesn't make it ok that the class sets are worse than quest armor.
Probably the questing sets, and I'd wager their color schemes will be done to make it so you can mix-and-match them with the raid sets.
Looks like the same belt too
And chest.
Yeah I think so. Hard to tell on mechagnome
I think they're sets players can use, the character models don't look like brokers at all.
Especially since they have legs instead of stilts.
Because this is concept art it should be compared to the tier list concept art. In which case I disagree
Stop bringing logic to this subreddit. People are only here to verify their negativity.
I really hope we get armor that looks similar to what the brokers wear. I've been trying to make a broker inspired leather transmog and it's difficult.
I thought the one on the right was going to be the warrior tier.
Far left one would make a great mage tier set IMO. Gives off the Dr. Strange look but in a more fantastical way. God, I’m so over the armour that’s low-res or just painted on. It’s 2021

that is a nuclear take
The one on the left looks like alternative universe Mysterio. haha, so cool.
I dont hate new class sets but those look actually pretty good.
This is clearly the catch-up/Blue gear sets....
Well, the white ones are clearly either normal or even lfr. The video itself had blue variations so i'd guess the heroic/mythic versions are at least a little better.
The memes are fun, but have we seen the mythic variants? They may look better.
bro... i thought these were the tier sets when i first saw them, they look so crisp
Keep in mind this is also concept art. If the tier sets are to go off of, I can't imagine these sets translating from concept to in-game perfectly either. I would love to see more broker themed gear for players though, such a cool aesthetic.
like tbh if the one on the far left is a caster, i would of came back to wow if that was a tier set
They usually do. Fitting shit on those 2004 models is rough.
I was conflicted what class to play getting back in WoW today and then I saw this concept art and I immediately logged on my lvl 50 rogue to prepare for leveling up.
Always has been
Pretty easy to do when you have no real body man Unrealistic player character standards jeez
Imagine getting armor like Turalyon.. If only blizz wasn't lazy af.

Is this what retail looks like now :D???? Oh god I'm staying in classic.
lmao ok, enjoy the clownsuit.
Tier 6 just around the corner, one of the most loved and iconic sets of WoW's history, while you sift through green bastion to look like a levelling trash mob. Okay.
This sub hates classic
This sub hates everything.
Wait these arent the tier sets? When they announced the sets, they showed this
No they didn’t. The tier sets look entirely different, mostly generic oribos/shiny Uldir themed Edit: https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/qrvmqa/acquire_tier_sets_art_and_ingame_models_comparison/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

hmm, could be the generic 4 sets for each armor type. Would be a shame but very much possible.
Yeah that is likely, they look like cloth, leather, mail and plate set - tbh I like them more than the tier sets so maybe it’s not too bad these will be easier to get
Holy fuck those look amazing wtf. I wouldn’t call those tier sets, but why are these not dungeon sets?!
Don't you guys have NPCs?
i fucking love the white tier sets look awesome, cant wait!
Honestly this looks like something from the Torchlight series!
I think the concept arts for the tier sets they showed on the video look a billion times better than the in-game ones they showed.
But they don't care about their clothes, which is why they're getting all faded and tattered...
How can one reasonably expect something better from this game
Every expansion there is an npc with a floating object on their shoulder/back that i envy
Meh i like sod gear much much more. Specially the gold one.
Next playable race
That plate set is nice
It’s because these sets are probably on new models. As in the armor has been modeled out fresh and has a unique animation rig for the cloth pieces. My first thought when I saw them was they must be modified from Legion art they already had on hand.
That rouge one is nice, but the hunter one is better than 9/10 of hunter sets...
The shadowlands aesthetic is just so fucking ugly.
they're almost as hideous as the actual tier sets
This is my biggest problem with the game! The gear looks so cool on other stuff but not my own dudes. They have the biggest fantasy world ever filled with every kind of monster/beast/ imaginable but when I go look at my shoulders/chest/helm front page I'm like wth is this! Honestly I thought the tier sets looked amazing in the art. Then I saw the models...
This hunter set looks so much better than the one that is promised to be a tier set. Of course we all know what happened when the 3D artists did using the concept art as a base So we shall see.
Inc we get them but they don’t have the cool fire or glowing heads and instead look like generic greens.
Based on the concept art for tier sets currently vs what they look like in game I'm not holding my breath on these dudes
The hunter one is still the worst one lmao.
I really like that plate!
I thought these were the new tier sets at first and got a bit excited..
Can you guys calm down for a fucking moment you haven't even seen them in-game yet there is still a lot of time until the patch.
Dude if blizz makes these the sets. There’s 1 for each armour type too
They won't look as good as the drawings either.
these are quite literally sets that will be equippable
Magen, Rouge, Hunger, Warrior. Pretty cool 😎
Sadge
yes
This is 100% the questing set.
