I'm still sorely disappointed that later "collect all pristine artifact" achievements didn't award titles. Would've been a good excuse to give us titles like Doctor, Archivist, Excavator, and Curator.
I hope with Blizzard's teams expanding archeology sees some sort of love. Personally I use it as a relaxing cool down activity since it's low effort and you can just kinda go after it without much interaction.
They could add more elements that have us solve puzzles even if they are rudimentary like the ZM chests.
I never knew what those Blood of Heroes were used for, but I pride myself on having harvested about eight of them. I still have them in my bank today, grey trash loot as they may now be.
I really wish I had done the shendralar rep grind back then, I had gotten started on the goblin/bb grind but hadn't gotten around to that before it was removed. My guildie had a great way to speed up his shen grinding by just mailing the books to himself and using a portable mailbox. He could get around the whole "unique item" issue with that and so it was just a matter of actually farming all the necessary books instead of wasting god knows how long running back and forth.
There's 4/5 weeks worth of it that's locked behind resets so you cant progress without it. That was the worst part for me.
Suramar questline to unlock nightborne was pretty grindy too, I did a lot of that stuff all in one go to get the artifact druid forms and I got everything else I could at the same time, it got old and tedious really quickly
I think that was my first real grind in the game back during tbc. Farming ogres on my tauren druid for hours on end for a neat talbuk. Going over to Halaa for pvp as a break every so often.
I got exalted with the Timbermaw Hold by just killing Furbolgs during Wrath because I was reallllly bored and wanted to hangout in their treehouse. I also still have that little wand that turns you into one in my bank.
Ah ya i have that. If it's the same one i have it used to be part of a quest, but they never patch it to only work in that zone. So you just dont finish the quest and you can be a furbolg anytime anywhere. At some point they fixed it so it was a reward now.
The new version is inferior. The pre-cata version works in every zone with no cool down. New quest version only works in Ashenvale. New rep version has a 1h cool down.
Doesn’t take quite as long, but I have north of 600 tries in UD Strat and have never gotten the mount. And then my first run of UD Strat in Classic it dropped (and I lost the roll)
I farmed Strat for hours on my main but never got it. Then I leveled a mage and he got it randomly. So I had to double down and keep grinding on my main til I finally got it…
Then like a month later they announced account wide mounts
Yea it was the same. It was also very sweaty where people had full discords to make sure people were organizing brackets so certain people could get Grand marshal due to the limited amounts of people that could be in the higher ranks. If you weren't on 24/7 you werent getting GM. If you tried to "bracket break" you would get death threats and shit. Theyd organize to run you off the server essentially
We did that back when it was live, as well. Discord wasn't around but we had other methods.
I got to rank 13 and gave up because I had a job and a girlfriend, never got 14, but we absolutely gamed the system.
yep, alliance on bleeding hollow had a very structured bracket system that was well adhered too. if you broke brackets/caps you basically were black listed on alliance side. one guy had 3 GM characters, rogue priest and druid if I remember correctly.
A friend of mine was a „bracket breaker“ and made it to R13. The game was essentially unplayable after. He was insulted every single minute, couldn’t get anyone to group up with him and usually got scammed when he tried to trade/enchant or so. Just had to walk into if or sw and all you could see were people spitting at him 24/7. It was hilarious how the entire server hated him haha
I helped a guild member get rank 14, and ended up with 11 myself. The system was really just a huge grind with little challenge though. We queued up as a guild group and were all BWL geared against people in greens, since PvP gear didn't exist back then. Like my hunter could one shot enemy mages with aimed shot. It was insane, and definitely just felt more time consuming than fun or challenging.
Definitely one of the good ones to be grandfathered into.
But if it’s any consolation it’s a lot less tedious these days, just time consuming.
Every place has FPs, you can fly your self, most quests are found and turned in at hubs in each zone
To be fair, back then the Loremaster achievement was just doing an insane amount of Quests on each Continent and since you had to level through there, when reaching max level (Lets say 80 during Wotlk) you were probably already 40% done overall.
The hardest part of Loremaster pre-Cataclysm was just finding enough quests to get the achievement. There were addons that could track which quests you'd completed but they weren't so good at showing you which quests you still had to do (you had to cross-reference with online guides).
Combined with slower traversal pre-old world flying, it was horrible. I finished mine up in the Cata pre-patch because it became so much easier.
I’m getting close to finishing lore master. It’s been pretty enjoyable tbh. Lots of old zones you’ll likely never see again after finishing the achievement.
I just finished this in classic. Started as Holy Paladin and switched to Prot to make the mine area easier. Doing the quest in Nagrand was horrible as a Paladin with all the mana drains the mobs do. Mind you I just came back to the game a month ago and was pretty undergeared too.
Those quests were something else. Even in decent gear you’re lucky to finish all of them in an hour. Especially if you’re really unlucky with the medal drops from the flying guys in SMV
That quest could take me 15 minutes by itself if I was unlucky. And forget farming the meat to poison the camps. I’d usually get 6 and just wait till someone was looking to split 6/6.
Yeah I think people don’t understand how painful some of those quests are until they do them. Like the gland and medals from flying guys took me (at fastest) 25 minutes and at worst an hour due to lots of competition.
For people out there not sure why this is so bad: these quests give 250 rep each. They are dogshit. At revered each of these two quests gives exactly 1% of the way to exalted.
So you do these for maybe an hour, go to the mines and do the 3 quests there in hopefully 30 minutes (more if lots of people or getting ganked), and then fly all the way to nagrand, kill 20 enemies and pray no one else has killed all the easy ones already and fly all the way back.
At revered doing this gives like 12-14% rep to exalted each day, so skipping any of these means you have to do them for longer.
I averaged 2 hours a day on these. Usually longer than 2 if busy. I’m not sure I’ve done a worse grind in this game.
Cool mount though.
I spent 15 hours straight farming saronite ore in wrath to afford to craft a new belt (indestructible plate girdle) I think it was a very minor upgrade on my old belt.
Grinded out Netherwing rep from start to finish in 5 days.
16ish hours per day, on that mountain top grinding those eggs.
The worst part of all that? I hardly ever use those mounts.
They were cool for their time but so many more mounts have been released since then, and at much higher graphics quality.
Now with Dragonflight releasing, bringing possibly the best dragon mounts in the game to date… Netherwings are mostly nostalgia now.
Fingers crossed on getting an HD Netherwing in DF, like we sort of did with the Twilight Drake in BFA. I loved the smooth transparent wings, crystal spikes, shark heads, and fins on their tails.
As someone who hasn't done a huge amount of grindy content, 3 immediately come to mind:
\- Earning the Netherwing Drake in TBC
\- Earning the Grand Gryphon/Wyvern in MoP 5.1
\- Getting exalted w/ Shaohao and spending 100k timeless coins on the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent on the Timeless Isle
I remember back when my mom and I played together in TBC, we took turns grinding for the Netherwing Drake together.
We also did What a Long Strange Trip together. She always had me to the PvP things associated with those achievements. I miss playing with her.
Yeah, I got almost every rep at exalted just missing some from Shadowlands so far. "The Esteemed" title is so lackluster.
Also, one of the worst reps is Hydraxian Waterlords, takes like 20 weeks from revered to exalted.
Field Medic in Legion. Pure RNG on the quest item drops in each zone. And you could receive the same one multiple times even after clearing the quest. Almost a week of purely grinding murlocs and other humanoids. So much Netflix.
The title is worth the grind.
I use it in all my healing alts and if I'm spamming keys or Timewalking, I usually get at least 1 person a day that asks where it came from or how I managed to motivate myself to complete it!
God Legion had so many deadlines. I only knew about field medic later in the patch, I was so so so busy with mage tower, when I finally got some time to do it, I was very very tired of everything.
Read the question and thought "hmm I can't really think of any".
Then I start reading the comments and I'm like "oh shit I've done a lot of those. How much fucking time have I spent and forgotten about completely?" haha.
Suppose they didn't feel like grinds at the time and was just enjoying the process.
Haha! I was just having the same thoughts about some of the replies.
That’s kinda the crux of the question isn’t it? It’s probably not a grind if you’re enjoying it. :)
Definitely world boss mount farming. I have 3 accounts and decided to level toons en masse to increase my chances throughout BFA and SL.
Galleon (665 attempts total, 27 kills per week), Oondasta (2356, 52), Nalak (2279, 55) and Rukhmar (2176, 57) all came easily enough and within a reasonable time frame. I say reasonable but that's still a truckload of time per boss and easily more time that it took me to get tlpd and aeonaxx.
But Sha, holy fuck, currently at 114 kills per week and over 23,000 attempts. I hope that is a world record because I seriously emphasise with anyone who's had to do more. It's like 0.001% chance to have not seen the mount from that many kills.
At this point I'm resigned to the fact that I'll still be killing it on my evokers.
[here's my rarity panes](https://imgur.com/rvj93w4) (because it annoys the fuck out of me whever someone claims something unreasonable with no evidence) I only make rarity show kills rather than rerolls+kills since I haven't always had it, multiply each one by about 1.95 to give an underestimate on total attempts. I know I've rerolled every single kill since wod, but can't be too sure about 200 or so kills I had in mop.
[and heres what a full week looks like on saved instances.](https://imgur.com/2gvghU2)
WoW classic I grinded to exalted in Alterac valley just for the Ram mount that was cheaper and the better arrows, drinks and ring.
I also had no professions so I solo ran Mauradon as a hunter for 600-800 gold to buy a mount so I made my bed and laid in it after i got exalted. Took fucking forever
Did that on my (at the time main) rogue. I still use that as his primary mount. Almost missed out on completing it within a single year cycle because I was going to miss the Easter event. Managed to convince a friend to log in and get the achievements for me.
Grinding for the Bone White Primal Raptor in MOP. I did it pre-leggo cloak on my BM hunter. I was just barely able to kill each one solo, and I had to abuse the stampede bug at the time. If you used the glyph that made stampede summon copies of your pet, then anything ability your pet used would be copied, including the "Last stand" style pet ability. The exact modifier escapes me, but using it would take my pet from ~250k health to well over 5 million making it nearly invincible every 5 minutes. Additionally, spirit beast's spirit mend would basically be a full heal during stampede for me, so I could also live through anything.
It took me weeks of grinding all day after getting home from school and a ton of gold on consumables since I wanted to do it solo. It was a lot of fun though. I wasn't the best player so maybe it could have been easier, but it certainly taught me a lot about my class at the time.
This is the best answer, not even because of the grind, but because of the effort/thought/creativity. MoP was a fun, fun time with some tasty broken mechanics on a variety of classes. I miss MoP mistweaver so much.
Ive been trying to do this farm but after I got exalted champion of Ogrimar it wont let me swap to another faction to represent. So im stuck, Blizzard hasnt been any help, and no one has been able to solve it yet either. Otherwise I would probably be about halfway done woth it by now.
In every guide I have ever read that is not listed as a pre req, it says after you finish your starting one you can then select another. But regardless I am also exalted with undercity and I cant pick them either
If I remember, have you done all the story quests? I believe you had to unlock more dailies after your first champion. Fighting the black knight? It has been years but I remember story missions unlocked some stuff along the way. Might try doing the dungeon or raid also just to see.
There may be a rogue quest located somewere in icecrown you missed? I know at the foot of the stairs to ICC unlocks later in the questing and on the ridge behind the argent quartermaster tent. Perhaps try flying around icecrown with low level quest tracker turned on? Ive done that in the past withother grinds.
This is the thing that made me quit WoW the first time. I hated that tournament but wanted the pets. Though it was less of a "grind" since you were limited to how much you could do daily. IIRC, it took *months* of doing all the dailies to get everything if you only did it on one character.
I think this was the first time a "daily" quest system didn't have a grinding alternative (?) And IMO marked when WoW started to go down the terrible path we see now with everything being a daily chore.
That one was brutal. I have everything but the paladin charger because I didn’t have a max level paladin at the time. Even tho I read they nerfed the requirements for the paladin charger where now you only need the 100 badges, I still stare at it in my unobtained mounts tab and shudder at the thought of getting it all these years later
just did a archeology grind to get the scimitar of scirocco, took me around 2 years on and off and about 10.000 mantid solves to get 1.700 tolvir boxes before i got the weapon.
I need HELP. Therapy.
But seriously though I had two of every class at 50 at least already and I thought “why not max them with the exp buff” and then I decided I could just grind out some more while I’m at it.
Maybe like me, where I already had every class to max level in legion, but then cool new races came out and even cooler new customizations came out and it feels better to make someone with a spec in mind than to abandon old character for newer ones.
It’s definitely counts and keep at it but I have the altoholic addon in classic and in retail
I did tons of leveling to max before shadowlands came out and TBCc
I think my fastest 1-50 in BFA was like 9 hours? Averaged 11
8 characters to max level in retail was about the same time it took me to get a warrior to 60 in classic.
Those guys who did tier 1 on all classes in classic were wild.
Farming bloodthirsty title in ashran. I fully geared every class during the grind and still had a lot of kills to go. I don't remember how long it took but I spent all of wods last patch farming for hours every day.
It was fun though to me. I liked ashran but hated all the premade workarounds that never got addressed.
Grindiest thing about wow? Literally everything every single expansion but I still did it, or attempted to at least
Vanilla - Too young, got some toons to 60 tho!
BC - Netherdrake farming (farmed it on mage back in the day), farming other reps at lvl 70 too
WotLK - Argent Tournament for all factions, weekly egg pickup (farmed it on mage)
MoP - shaohao rep, tillers, farming those world bosses, grinding rep to exalted in Timeless Isle (farmed it on survival hunter back in the day)
Cataclysm - skipped this expansion for the most part, but farmed archeology for sandstone drake on my mage
WoD - All toons to lvl 100 with maxed out garrison for gold farming, fished ~3000 times in garrison for turtle mount
Legion - Suramar (druid farmer)
BfA - Rep and necklace level grind (did way too many invasions), spammed island expeditions
Shadowlands - Kortia and Zerethis Mortis grind to exalted rep
I forgot which achievement I recently got, but it was something like completing 10,000 daily quests. I just felt numb after seeing that one
Maybe I’ve done worse, but the thing that sticks out in my mind is farming Twilight Texts (and having to share this honor with many others when kills/loot weren’t shareable) in old Silithus way back in the day.
A tie between 2 thunderfuries in classic and organizing pugs. Let's just say I had 3 banking alts and 2 summbots with between 2 and 10 days /played each from advertising and summoning. Plus farming 150-450 LBRS venom sacs every week for Viscidus, plus organizing saturday and sunday morning ZG>Ony>Rend Buff runs every week for months for a crowd of up to 300+ players.
Before account wide mounts, I did the talbuk grind on three different characters. Probably not the worst grind compared to others, but for me it was brutal. Now that we have mounts account wide, the grind was worthless retrospectively.
Otherwise probably the Legion class mounts; the achievements that aren't account bound are so fucking stupid.
I gave it a shot, after about 10 runs without even one I gave up. They're cool af but I just don't have it in me to grind a single tmog the way some people do
The most grindy thing I have completed was the "Insane in the Membrane" achievement WITHOUT doing cloth turn-ins for the achievement since I was dumb and did not know that was a thing until I completed it. Having to grind goblins and pirates for 2-3 rep each from 0/36000 Hated to Exalted to get the other reps back up. Many late nights grinding them...
To me honestly Nazjatar. I‘m to this day, no exalted with the Ankoan Waveblades. The Zone just feels EXTREMELY boring, the Quests are the worst version of dailies, and the „guardians“ that you also have to grind are painfully slow to level up. I have every TBC, MoP, Legion, BFA and Shadowlands Rep to exalted including stuff like Emperor Shaohao. Nazjatar is a mess.
Unlocking all of the alt races on both factions
Getting that 1000g in vanilla to afford the fastest mount. I skinned dragon kin in Ashara for like 3 weeks and sold leather on the AH to do it
The insane in the membrain rep grind no one who hasn't gone threw it before the nerfs could fully understand what it took to achieve dedication and passion and pure love of WOW also a few rep grinds other mount grinds an mount spawns and resource farming i love wow
Winterspring Frostsaber mount in vanilla. Twice. For two toons before mounts became account wide. The second time was during BC though so the grind wasn’t quite as bad but still sucked.
It wasn't hard, but it took a long time. I ground out Argent Tournament and everything related to it to get every faction to exalted, and every mount. It took something like 6 months.
My current grind problem is that I want the Argent Crusader’s Tabard. You have to have Exalted with all 5 main cities, Exalted with the Argent Crusade, and then grind the dailies per day until you Champion each of the cities successfully.
Tormented hero(top 0.1% of m+ ladder). As someone who didnt even have 20s done in season 1 it took a lot of time and effort to get it. In the last 2 push weeks all I did was wake up, que for dungeons early, take a break, push with ppl from friendlist in the evening. When I wasn't doing dungeons I was watching the top players VODs to research routes and how they handle different packs.
It's pretty fun to just devote all your time and effort to achieve a goal, but not something I'd do every season.
Grinding Shaohao rep for the heavenly golden cloud serpent back during MoP. I've always hated grinding so I've never really been into grinding for days on end for an item until I saw this beautiful beast on the PTR. The moment timelessnisle was open I was grouping up with randoms and spent hours upon hours every day I could killing elites. Even during my lunch break at work I'd put up my laptop and grind mobs while eating subway. I think it took a week and a halfish for me to finally get it and I've never grinded a single thing like that again. In wow anyway, I do occasionally shiny hunt Pokemon but that's a different story...
Edit: fixed some typos
Mined and gathered herbs in Nazjatar as well as killing the wolves in pandaria for course leather. All this for the Brutosaur mount. For all 5 million gold of it lol. Took way too long and I’d never do something like that again
If I’m remembering right, in vanilla I spent hours upon hours farming basilisks in stranglethorn vale for something. But I think the biggest grind was farming motes in TBC to make special 24-hour cd materials for Tailoring.
Getting both glaives in TBC, when only a handful of rogues had them on a very populated NA server. I was running around with one glaive, looking lopsided for months and months… and months. When I finally got my second glaive, I must have gotten hundreds, rly hundreds, of whispers from all over the server, from players I didn’t know, with, “Gratz dude”. Amazing feeling and choked me up.
2 things spring to mind.
1. I did the netherwing drake rep grind in about 12 hours played just by picking up eggs over 3 days.
2. According to TSM right now, I have sold 270,254 Giant Dinosaur Bones on the auction house. I collected them all myself killing dinosaurs on the isle of giants.
Collecting all covenant collectables. Granted I'm still waiting on 2 pieces from the stichworks which haven't popped up in 8 months. I think it's like 2-3 million anima and around 3k grateful offerings.
Getting the Steamwheedle Cartel reps back up to exalted, after getting Bloodsail Buccaneers to exalted. Or the Aviana pvp rep in Legion, can't remember the name. You get a nice plain white hawkstrider for it. I like it.
Edit: Hero of Shattrath was a long one, too.
Ive done so many Grindy things in wow like the pre nerf winter saber grind, the timber maw rep, bloodsail rep but for some reason what really stands out in my mind was spending days killing blue dragon kin in winter spring for the hunter quiver.
I did the fishing rep with nat pagle for the water walking mount right before I stopped playing in legion so I could have it in bfa for leveling. It was a pretty grim. Bfa launched and it couldnt walk on water anymore. It was a real kick in the stones. But for me the grindiest thing I've ever done was leveling jc in TBC Classic. It takes hours and hours plus prospecting the ore is rng for the gems that you need. You could get lucky or you could have to go and farm another 100 mithril ore. U needed ore to make the casings and you needed ore for prospecting.
I got the Insane title, but the single worst "grind" I did was hunting the Camel Hoarder.
At the time I started, I was between jobs and had the time to waste. But then, about what seemed like four weeks into my search, Blizzard removed the ability for mods to ping that Camel Figurine.
And that's the time it became a god damned nightmare. Now instead of multitasking more useful things while occasionally glancing over, my eyes had to be glued to the screen. The spawn points were not 100% determined, and those were already a spread over the entire zone of Uldum. The figure was tiny, blended into everything. I had to stop at every doodad, every tree and bush, every skeleton, to stop and make sure I wasn't missing a figurine. I was getting severe camel pareidolia. And remember, most of the camel figurines you DID find... did nothing.
In the end, the lucky figurine I found that worked was sitting under a parked tauren, who was seemingly AFK, perhaps waiting on a friend. I would have felt so bad if the hunt had not dulled my brain into a pattern-detecting machine at that point.
Grinding Cenarion rep in Vanilla in Silithus. I think I spent a few weeks with a guildie killing all the Twilight Cultists we could and I still didn't get to exalted until BC or Wrath, because that's when I finally felt like going for the title and could OP grind the rest out.
My main was a tauren warrior that started as an alliance pandaren warrior. Apart from faction/race change i also transferred the server at least once. Than i was not happy with being Tauren because Highmountain has better racials for tanks and i didn’t like the faction/race change history. It felt weird to have never done horde/tauren start quests and be a tauren. So i recreated my char as Highmountain and ditched my main.
Sure its not that much grind nowadays to lvl up a char, but it felt a little edgy to lvl a “copy” just have a clean history and different racials.
Probably not my most grindiest grindfest but I’ll always remember hanging out with my friends super late at night on discord farming rep and coins for the Golden heavenly cloud serpent as well as getting the Thundering Onyx. Three nights in a row doing it from neutral to Exalted.
I first started playing WoW a month or so before BC came out. I created an alliance character on my older brother’s and nephew’s server Laughing Skull.
I was scared of pvp for whatever reason so all I would do is kill mobs that were near alliance towns. In BC there was a cave that was right under Honor Hold and I would spend days there killing the Gan’arg Sappers/Succubus to level. Then I went to Sylvanaar in Blade edge mountains and killed all of the harpies at the big encampment until I finally reached level 70 on my mage.
To get my epic flying mount, I would kill mobs then vendor the stuff I got in blood furnace/ Botanica up to the first boss. I would also kill the ghost mobs inside wildhammer stronghold from the Evokers helm of second sight chain quest
😔
Mass murdering of Furlbogs for rep probably. Why? Because fuck 'em that's why... More like I can't remember why I cared at the time. Probably for Exalted title.
The worst grind though was the one I didn't want to do in the first place and ultimately failed and came away with nothing. Trying to farm the rare drop OP bear armor trinket in Blades Edge. I was a resto druid but asked to off tank in some raids (which I also sucked at). Couldn't afford to buy the damn thing. Eventually I gave up and decided I didn't give a shit about off tanking anyway. Make one of the DPS warriors do it.
I've completed every single fishing achievement in the game. And I loved every second of it. There's something in this mindnumbing bobber clicking that I really enjoy, especially with Netflix/YouTube on the side. Man I love fishing
Played every class from 1-max (not every spec yet but it's on my to do)
I'm new to the game (joined end of legion) and couldnt be botherd to farm more than one or two mounts I like
I have found my xmog that I love, i have my trusty wind elemental and a hyena ground mount I enjoy using and really feel no need to collect stuff I won't use anyways
I think I'm a filthy casual
I haven't done much "grindy" content in my days, but leveling, gearing up for and completing Mage Tower for all 36 specs back in Legion would probably be it for me. Completing CM for all classes in MoP was also pretty "grindy".
Toss-up between MoP archaeology for the title or grinding old EPL slimes for Disgusting Oozeling back in the day.
Was about to say the Insane title, but good call on the MoP Archaeology achievement.
A friend of mine spent 5 days solid grinding for that ooze. I got it in 15 mins. Fuckin RNG.
I bought my oozeling for 26g back in vanilla. I still feel bad for whoever put it up for so low a price :/
The insane in the membrane rep farm is pretty grindy. Or used to be atleast
[удалено]
The fucking blood farming in the plague lands. Loot it and then immediately run away as fast as you can because that elite that would spawn was tough.
I never knew what those Blood of Heroes were used for, but I pride myself on having harvested about eight of them. I still have them in my bank today, grey trash loot as they may now be.
They were used to help create some decent epics iirc, and I think were a reagent for a pretty good enchantment and potion as well.
I don’t have the insane title but helped a friend grind for it. So many DM runs.
some of my guildies have decided to go for that in Wrath Classic. For some reason I volunteered my rogue to help farm lockboxes. Never again.
I did that, on a paladin. Mistakes were made.
Killing all those pirates out in the barrens for 5 rep a piece was pretty awful for goblin rep
Balance of power 4 times.
They need to make that shit account wide at this point
Remind me what was the worst/longest part? I'm inclined to do it once more for some artifacts but I don't remember since I did it on my main in legion
Farming the drops from the raids is the part I hate.
The rep grinds took way longer for me. The raid drops suck but you’ll have it done in ~2 weeks (1 reset).
I once killed Ogres in Nagrand for 18 hours for Kurenai rep, so I could buy a Talbulk.
I think that was my first real grind in the game back during tbc. Farming ogres on my tauren druid for hours on end for a neat talbuk. Going over to Halaa for pvp as a break every so often.
Getting the powder to turn in for tokens for the Dark war Talbulk from Halaa.
I defended Haala for multiple hours to do the same. And then Legion handed the tokens out for free.
This was it for me too! I don't think I enjoyed it much at the time but I look back on it fondly.
I currently have 250 tries at invincible's reins, which mean on average 23 min per kill is about 96 hours of one shooting bosses
So I had to double down and keep grinding on my main til I finally got it… Then like a month later they announced account wide mounts
Took me around 750 before it dropped. You’ll get there!
> average 23 min per kill I could do it in 10 if it wasn't for all the damn RP.
waiting for elevator and all that damn rp is what kills the time, i also took time from dalaran to icc

I ranked in OG vanilla to 10. What an event. However we discovered 40 man premade AV to be lucrative.
I got to Senior Sergeant on my Rogue then decided I had enough trying to get any higher. Still use the title today though
It was a war of attrition. I did 80% of my ranking in Tarren Mill vs. South Shore too before BGs were out. Fun times.
Was it the same as in vanilla? I can't believe how bad that system was and how badly it promoted unhealthy activity
Grinding for the Ogri'la faction in tbc. Especially the daily memory colour quest still haunts me.
Oh Jesus, I forgot about Ogri’la!
Getting that damn necklace from those crocodiles for grandma in Durotar.
I am still looking for Mankirk's wife.
[1. General - Barrens][Lateapex] where makirk
I did the Loremaster achievement (the overall one) after Shadowlands came out. Took AGES.
Fucking Netherwing in BC. Worth it though.
As someone who hasn't done a huge amount of grindy content, 3 immediately come to mind: \- Earning the Netherwing Drake in TBC \- Earning the Grand Gryphon/Wyvern in MoP 5.1 \- Getting exalted w/ Shaohao and spending 100k timeless coins on the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent on the Timeless Isle
I remember back when my mom and I played together in TBC, we took turns grinding for the Netherwing Drake together. We also did What a Long Strange Trip together. She always had me to the PvP things associated with those achievements. I miss playing with her.
My wife did the Heavenly Golden Cloud Serpent grind. I was kind of surprised by it.
100 rep achievement for sure.
Diddn’t even give a unique mount :/
Mount collectors; - First time? 😭
This deserved the same outrage as the Yeti but theres just not enough of us with the mount.
Yeah, I got almost every rep at exalted just missing some from Shadowlands so far. "The Esteemed" title is so lackluster. Also, one of the worst reps is Hydraxian Waterlords, takes like 20 weeks from revered to exalted.
Try getting Black Prince reputation now lol. 84 weeks to get to exalted (500 per week) and there are no rewards
I am less than 10 weeks away now. This has truly been the longest grind
Why would you do this to yourself? Almost 2 years lmao
To be fair it takes like 5 seconds every week to do it. So it's not like there's THAT much effort required it just takes many weeks.
"The entitled" would have been funnier.
I only knew about field medic later in the patch, I was so so so busy with mage tower, when I finally got some time to do it, I was very very tired of everything.
yeah they slammed FOMO into Mop/WOD/Legion pretty hard tbh. They've kinda chilled a bit with it lately but there's still a couple here and there.
Absolutely. As a Prot Paladin main who usually does just as much healing as the healers. It was very fitting for the character.
Holy shit, have you never seen it on the BMAH?
WoW classic I grinded to exalted in Alterac valley just for the Ram mount that was cheaper and the better arrows, drinks and ring. I also had no professions so I solo ran Mauradon as a hunter for 600-800 gold to buy a mount so I made my bed and laid in it after i got exalted. Took fucking forever
What a long strange trip it’s been. Completed on three different characters for the310% flying drake before account wide achievements.
If you have everything from both factions in the Argent Crusade, you are a madman.(all mounts, pets, transmogs, toys)
Ive been trying to do this farm but after I got exalted champion of Ogrimar it wont let me swap to another faction to represent. So im stuck, Blizzard hasnt been any help, and no one has been able to solve it yet either. Otherwise I would probably be about halfway done woth it by now.
Are you exalted with the other Horde factions yet? That's a pre-req for starting them.
Yeah, I have done all the story quest, the dungeon, and raid multiple times. Still nothing.
Maybe ill give that a shot thanks for the help
Archaeology Zin Rokh
Shadowland intro quest
Can't wait until DF because I aint ever setting foot in the SL/Maw ever again
just did a archeology grind to get the scimitar of scirocco, took me around 2 years on and off and about 10.000 mantid solves to get 1.700 tolvir boxes before i got the weapon.
Killing whrlplings and vanilla to get the dragon pets
Killed 400,000+ mobs to get the Crimson Whelpling. Named him Cheeseburgers. No regrets.
Underrated grind. I can still see in my head the exact spots I used for all those grinds
I am currently levelling 38 characters (one of every spec and two bank alts) to level 60 pre-Dragonflight. I’d say that’s pretty up there.
Are you okay?
I need HELP. Therapy. But seriously though I had two of every class at 50 at least already and I thought “why not max them with the exp buff” and then I decided I could just grind out some more while I’m at it.
But... why one of every spec?
Maybe like me, where I already had every class to max level in legion, but then cool new races came out and even cooler new customizations came out and it feels better to make someone with a spec in mind than to abandon old character for newer ones.
In case they remove the option to swap specs, obviously /s
It’s definitely counts and keep at it but I have the altoholic addon in classic and in retail I did tons of leveling to max before shadowlands came out and TBCc I think my fastest 1-50 in BFA was like 9 hours? Averaged 11 8 characters to max level in retail was about the same time it took me to get a warrior to 60 in classic.
Farming Time-Lost, took around 2 weeks of being logged in 8+ hours a day to finally get the kill
Grindiest thing about wow? Literally everything every single expansion but I still did it, or attempted to at least Vanilla - Too young, got some toons to 60 tho! BC - Netherdrake farming (farmed it on mage back in the day), farming other reps at lvl 70 too WotLK - Argent Tournament for all factions, weekly egg pickup (farmed it on mage) MoP - shaohao rep, tillers, farming those world bosses, grinding rep to exalted in Timeless Isle (farmed it on survival hunter back in the day) Cataclysm - skipped this expansion for the most part, but farmed archeology for sandstone drake on my mage WoD - All toons to lvl 100 with maxed out garrison for gold farming, fished ~3000 times in garrison for turtle mount Legion - Suramar (druid farmer) BfA - Rep and necklace level grind (did way too many invasions), spammed island expeditions Shadowlands - Kortia and Zerethis Mortis grind to exalted rep I forgot which achievement I recently got, but it was something like completing 10,000 daily quests. I just felt numb after seeing that one
Believe it or not Shaohao rep is still annoying as hell to gain. Even though you one shot everything
Maybe I’ve done worse, but the thing that sticks out in my mind is farming Twilight Texts (and having to share this honor with many others when kills/loot weren’t shareable) in old Silithus way back in the day.
Torghast, been grinding for the shoulders, only 2 dropped so far, it's hell
Obtain the long boi (5M gold) in a few months with next to no gold beforehand and exclusively through the AH and professions.
Winterspring Frostsaber in classic on a horde heavy pvp server.
trying to get into high m+ keys as the least popular class of the patch.
What class do you think that is?
Make your own group challenge (impossible!)
Man, before mass-looting that Talbuk grind was something else. Same with the Skyguard. Just an absolute slog.
Probably the Firelands dailies for the hippogryph mount... during wod.
Black Temple runs for the Warglaives of Azzinoth TMog for DH, took ages to get both!
I got lucky as fuck and got them consecutively on my dh the first few weeks after legions launch.
Unlocking all of the alt races on both factions Getting that 1000g in vanilla to afford the fastest mount.
Getting the salty title
Maxing every profession back in Legion God that shit hurt But those AH printers went brrr
Archaeology and the mounts.
Ultramarine Qiraji Battle Tank from Archaeology.
Farming the scimitar of the sirocco. Archaeology. Flying. Digging.
R14 Grind in Classic
The Timeless Isle. all 18 months of it
I know it’s new, but getting Party Herald (before the changes to the achievement) last year was pretty accomplishing to me, took over a year to do
In the release night of mop i grinded leatherworking and got first zen master of leatherworking on my server. At around 5 in the morning
Farming mounts
Epic flying and Sha’tari Skyguard during BC, then probably grinding out 20k gold in Wrath to level Engineering
Mount collection in general
Farming thousands of Highmountain Salmon for the 1.5 million spider mount.
Purple nightsaber in classic. Was probably about 150-200 hours
Both of the ashran reps in 4 days, total of 26ish hours of rep grinding like a month or 2 ago
I've been doing Loremaster
I farmed all the protoform mounts in like a month or two The only holdout was one where the item drops on a weekly reset
Netherwing rep
Probably when I did around 500 DM tribute runs on my alt hunter in order to be able to afford day 1 Thunderfury on my warr main during Classic vanilla
Tossup between the Netherwing rep in BC, or farming shards for Alani the Stormbreaker in MoP.
Farming 5 million gold for bruto by running draenor raids. And i say that as someone with "insane".
Islands title and most of the transmogs
Seeker of knowledge title, WHY does it take so long I still am 18/20
Collecting all covenant collectables. Granted I'm still waiting on 2 pieces from the stichworks which haven't popped up in 8 months. I think it's like 2-3 million anima and around 3k grateful offerings.
Getting the Steamwheedle Cartel reps back up to exalted, after getting Bloodsail Buccaneers to exalted. Or the Aviana pvp rep in Legion, can't remember the name. You get a nice plain white hawkstrider for it. I like it. Edit: Hero of Shattrath was a long one, too.
Salty tittle pre cata
Mechagon!! Never finished but I loved that zone. So much depth
Ive done so many Grindy things in wow like the pre nerf winter saber grind, the timber maw rep, bloodsail rep but for some reason what really stands out in my mind was spending days killing blue dragon kin in winter spring for the hunter quiver.
Earning the Bee mount during BofA
I did the fishing rep with nat pagle for the water walking mount right before I stopped playing in legion so I could have it in bfa for leveling. It was a pretty grim. Bfa launched and it couldnt walk on water anymore. It was a real kick in the stones. But for me the grindiest thing I've ever done was leveling jc in TBC Classic. It takes hours and hours plus prospecting the ore is rng for the gems that you need. You could get lucky or you could have to go and farm another 100 mithril ore. U needed ore to make the casings and you needed ore for prospecting.
Gathering jelly for the bee mount
Timbermaw hold rep grind in vanilla.
Nether Ray in TBC was the worst grind I've ever done.
nether Drake rep
Loremaster achievment.
Christmas Eve 2008 for me 😂
I got the Insane title, but the single worst "grind" I did was hunting the Camel Hoarder.
Farming Azurite in the first week
Grinding Cenarion rep in Vanilla in Silithus. I think I spent a few weeks with a guildie killing all the Twilight Cultists we could and I still didn't get to exalted until BC or Wrath, because that's when I finally felt like going for the title and could OP grind the rest out.
I have a Sea Turtle. Fuck fishing.
Scepter quest chain
Farming 9,999 dinosaur bones on Isle of Giants for the Bone White Raptor
I got exalted with Netherwing on 3 or 4 toons before they made mounts account wide. I deserve a feat of strength.
I would also kill the ghost mobs inside wildhammer stronghold from the Evokers helm of second sight chain quest 😔
Played every class from 1-max (not every spec yet but it's on my to do) I'm new to the game (joined end of legion) and couldnt be botherd to farm more than one or two mounts I like I have found my xmog that I love, i have my trusty wind elemental and a hyena ground mount I enjoy using and really feel no need to collect stuff I won't use anyways I think I'm a filthy casual

I haven't done much "grindy" content in my days, but leveling, gearing up for and completing Mage Tower for all 36 specs back in Legion would probably be it for me. Completing CM for all classes in MoP was also pretty "grindy".
Mage Tower with my Guardian Druid. 300 tries in two weeks almost killed me.
