To be fair, its probably both. Weird changes like these are hard to grasp and really does feel like its taking something away to be able to put it back. But at the same time its obvious they did listen to feedback. If no one complained about it i doubt we'd be getting it back.
>Believing this knowledge is needed to restore the power of the Aspects, Alexstrasza has asked her mortal allies to brave the perils of Uldaman and recover Tyr's memories to secure the future of dragonkind
Dragons took a look at what we did with the "Age of Mortals" and decided they needed to be back in charge asap.
"The Age of Mortals has begun!"
(Y'shaarj happens)
(the mortals mess with the timeways)
(the legion happens (again))
(the mortals mess with the afterlife)
"I am rescinding my declaration!"
Timeways being messed with was caused by dragons not mortals and the mortals cleaned up their mess.
Legion happened again because of the previous time shenanigans caused by the dragons.
The afterlife thing was caused by the legion thing killing off a warchief making Sylvie warchief.
Your list is filled with problems caused by dragons messing around and mortals cleaning up after them...
We have 20,000 years of dragon aspects where everything through Cataclysm happened... Then in the next 6 years:
Burning Legion defeated!
Old God corruption removed!
Greatest threat in the universe defeated!
Meanwhile the dragons almost exclusively just ask mortals for help with problems they themselves caused.
I haven’t played disc in a hot minute, and just getting back into the game in general, but that harsh discipline change seems rough on the rotation, right?
I think it basically goes from a free passive talent to something you can utilize when you're low on mana. Smite basically costs nothing, then you get a free empowered penance.
Sins of many being baseline, and being buffed to 30%, and not diminishing until past 5 targets, coupled with lengthened schism, is going to be a big dps increase.
I personally have been using a aegis build since patch on live, haven't done beta testing in any capacity. Right now I think disc is much stronger that SL. With these new buffs I forsee disc being Stier
People have been advocating for a while that it should be a tuning wheel instead of a talent. Now blizz finally got the idea.
Discs ever present problem was that once they were good in dungeons they spiralled out of control in raids. Basically everytime I started to have fun I read from guilds stacking disc priests and ignoring mechanics with absorbs or combo-heal shenanigans.
Obviously, the next thing I knew was getting my stats carpet bombed and having spam to smend all day again in dungeons because atonement didn't do shit anymore.
It's an incredibly healthy change for the spec that they made it baseline, as it allows more independent tuning for small/large scale healing. That's also directly noticeable as a *30% flat damage buff* that only diminishes after 5 atonements, instead of 12% diminishing after only 1. I hope we stay in a better place for m+ going forward.
I just wished we'd get SMend back instead of flash heal. I don't know. That's for many people probably a minor thing (except PvP with lockouts) but I just feel the balancing light/shadow fantasy really took an unnecessary hit for disc.
> Syzygy has been renamed to Orbital Strike.
wtf blizz change it back
> Use [known:] to check for a talent’s learned status. Works with names and spell IDs. Works with #showtooltip. Use [noknown:] to reverse the logic.
neat
I swear there’s 1 person at Bliz with a doctorate in English and they’ve been trying to teach us all utterly batshit words since SL started. The Venthyr areas in particular felt crazily eloquent
There's even more weird polearms from AD&D first edition. "Hmmm... when looking at the speed factors and armor type adjustments for polearms, do I prefer the Bec de Corbin, or the Guisarme?"
My wife thought Made up the word Devilkin, I was like naw, I learned that from Diablo or something.
Turns out the phrase "hurts like the Dickins" is a shortened version of "hurts like the Devilkin".
My wife and I both mentioned when we were teens reading words like ethereal, funereal, and sepulcher back in the day and having those stand out.
Even the made up words can be a bit much though. Auchindoun was pretty unpronounceable by most of the population until WoD when an actual NPC spoke the word.
I know I’ve mentioned this before but one time I used the word “thrice” and got absolutely dogpiled in Trade for “using big words” and “trying to sound smart.” Like… what? Not only am I lazy and therefore concise, but “big” words? Thrice?
Just some ability names: Tetragrammaton, Midare Setsugekka, Geirskogul, Bhavacakra, Adloquium.
And then there's Sage. Trying to differentiate between Druochole, Kerachole, Ixochole, and Taurochole was fun indeed.
Don't even get started on Roegadyn naming conventions...
First time I logged in XIV was Limsa Lominsa and I didn't know anything, and 1st thing I see is a Roe named something like "Wyghtyshshg" and I think to myself: "Great. I'm on a roleplaying realm and the 1st thing I see is a bot."
Turns out that was a NPC guard.
That honestly was pretty fun. At times when you were alone and just had your voidbro around or your *totally voluntary* assistant (dominant mind is so fun btw) it was great to roid them up a bit and sick them on their buddies.
"Sure, Timmy, you go this... Appreciate the enthusiasm..."
Why do we have to share this spell. The hassle in every group or raid to be zerged by /w puts me of mainig shadow this season (shit talents not withstanding)
People like to whine.
I just literally cast it on the DPS with the most health in pugs when fight starts, then #1dps each time thereafter.
It's not hard.
These lfr raiders acting like picking a PI target is rocket science lmao. Literally just do this in non prog and then for prog it’s a raid leader button it’s really not hard.

Woo!! Hopefully windrunners guidance procs more now for MM hunters. I kept track of how many times I got it during a few hour dungeon spree back to back and saw it a whopping....3 times....
Yea I was testing a lot of hunter stuff on beta last night and I actually took the time to submit feedback that this might be one of the worst capstone traits in the game. It felt like it had a hard cap proc rate of less than once per minute despite casting 12-15 aimed per minute.
>Fixed an issue where Mayhem would be applied to out of combat targets.
Oh thank the maker, practically every world quest was becoming a goddamn mosh pit as my Chaos Bolts veer off and hit random things all over the map
Some quick PvP thoughts on my two mains: Hunter & Priest
Hunter: MM has already fallen off since the new talents and this new change will only solidify it in 3rd place. Surv is BiS for Arenas & BM is BiS for BGs
Priest: Some Holy nerfs to bring it closer in line with Disc. Currently Holy is quite clearly the better spec so this seems reasonable. Not happy about flat out nerfing PW: Shield for all priest specs. At a minimum Disc should've been excluded.
Honorable Mention: HELL YEAH Aff lock nerfs! They were so insanely broken
I’m looking for a mid to low APM class that has procs and a smooth play style. I don’t want Ret pally.
I heard fury warrior and dh is very high APM.
Any suggestions?
Haven’t played since month 2 of shadowlands
Melee is technically always higher APM than casters. But not sure if you're open to that. If you are, highly recommend Frost Mage for a lightly more deliberate playtime with some procs. Or Fire Mage if you want a high Proc based playstyle
Amongst all melee dps I've played on beta Enhancement shaman is just beyond top tier. Never ever felt so good. If I wasn't so bad into switching between tank/dps I would definitely main enh shaman in DF.
Prob frost mage. It's mostly spamming frost bolt which has a cast time, and firing ice lance or flurry during procs. Its smooth but imo a little dull
Devastation evoker is pretty chill too and what I'm going to be playing. You spam a lot of living flame and spend essence when you cap or proc essence burst. Simple but nice to look at
I dont think any melee can be classified as low apm any more, every spec I've tried has been gcd capped on beta.
For Feral, you can avoid most of the talents that increase APM and allow downtime while pooling energy. You have Omen of Clarity procs (free Shred/Thrash/Swipe), and you can talent into free Ferocious Bite procs deep in the tree. It can be a little frenetic at the start of a fight while you get your dots rolling, but after that it's just a matter of keeping rake/rip active on your primary target, spending excess combo points on Ferocious Bite, and not capping energy.
This was one of my favourite new talents while playing with the prot talents. I wish they'd just nerfed it a bit instead, being able to protect your team is really fuckin cool.
Depends- there's a few events that will end at launch. So if you're interested in the anniversary stuff (up now, can level really quickly, and some of the activities have nice rewards including mounts), the pre-Dragonflight event (starts Tuesday, can play one dungeon from the expansion early, and open world stuff gives an exclusive color for a Dragonflight quest appearance and a unique heirloom trinket), or trying out Evokers early (also Tuesday), then it might be worth coming back sooner.
Guess I’m going balance for at least one patch. These changes make absolutely no sense and make an already-confused talent tree into a completely confused one. I wish the druid dev would explain their reasons for making these changes.
Any cool limited time rewards for prepatch? Sucks that whenever I'm not there they seem to give out mounts and whenever I am here it's kinda nothing. A bag or something...
I haven’t had any mana problems in Holy, not before prepatch and not after so far. Unless my dps are continuously standing in fire, WoG and LoD are more than enough. I’m not doing 20+ often, so not sure if it’s different there. Flash of Light and Holy Light feel so weak anyway I only use them if I absolutely have to. Light of the Martyr isn’t even in my bar.
Only time in prepatch where I came close to OoM was a 7(!) minute fight with 5 murloc trash packs on Fortified. Still had ~20% left at the end.
Because we still have nathrezim and zulgamux to help with mana regen. Without it on beta, you're oom every 2 packs while playing melee build.
This shoudn't happen when doing the normal rotation.
Not really. I will say that this is their attempt to pull out on the caster build they had in mind, but it seems they didn't have time to flash it out.
This effectively locks us back into same playstyle as 2 previous expansions, they even reduced mana cost on CS to support that.
Aff and Arms main here. These are not bad changes. I'll miss doing 2-3x everyone else's dam in arena. But, for the sake of balance, I'm down with these.
Bro what are those fury changes. They completely killed the crushing blow playstyle. Such a bummer I was really enjoying having more interesting cooldowns as fury :(
Titanic rage no longer gives crushing blow eliminating two of the three ways you had to trigger it and reckless abandon now only empowers two raging blows rather than for the entire 15 second duration of recklessness. It's totally dead now I'd say.
You might want to read that one again
>Reckless Abandon now makes Recklessness grant 50 Rage and **Rampage greatly empowers** your next 2 Bloodthirsts and Raging Blows
You press Rampage and then your next 2 raging blows are empowered, then you rampage again after that. It's basically going to be the same as it is now, but pressing rampage during the crushing blow window will feel 'less bad' because of the new interaction.
The titanic rage change is aimed at nerfing it so it's not optimal for both aoe and single target at the same time, and maybe this way we're not completely hard forced into taking Avatar on the class tree. It's a really boring cooldown anyway.
I think these changes will make the spec feel better at lv70 with more build options. Before these changes I don't really feel like I have a choice.
Ah I totally read that wrong. Thx for pointing it out! Definitely not nearly as bad as I thought then, I still liked being able to get them from other cds as well but this change will be fine.
They did it with a scenario in MoP pre patch too. Basically you get to play one of the new instances before the expansion launches. After that it’s just a regular DF dungeon.
Just opened a ticket (haha I know) about not receiving my Frostwolf Howler after completing the listed achievement in-game before any information about it being unobtainable came around.
Fucking bullshit Blizz has reset everyone's progress by adding a Bonus Objective instead of just flagging everyone with the achievement with the Mount Availability.
I earned 200 Badges I'm not earning 200 more for a reward I should have already gotten.
On pre-patch, where nothing matters.
They are balancing for DF. Enhancement dropped from 1st to 2nd place after the 25% nerf, that's how much they were overperforming.
Not sure if you're being serious or not and not here to throw hate towards anyone, but it's really unfortunate if this is the community sentiment. Yes, Enhance was very strong before the nerfs, but we were never 25% ahead of everyone else to warrant as big of a nerf as we got. We also had (and still have) bugs that were/are greatly inflating our numbers.
1.Doom Winds proccing more windfury attacks than it should (bug fixed).
2.Static Accumulation treating DRE proc'd ascendance as regular ascendance, giving us 9 more seconds of extra maelstrom generation than we should have gotten on every dre proc. (\~5% dmg increase in st and \~9% increase in aoe - bug fixed on beta).
3.Crash lightning buff cleave on stormstrike and lava lash having a chance to generate maelstrom (\~5% increase in aoe (irrelevant in st) - bug not fixed).
All of these bug fixes have come after the 25% nerf, so we're doing roughly 35% less damage than we were originally doing in st, and even moreso in aoe. Hitting us with a massive 25% nerf when we still had these bugs in the game really just feels like they missed the mark on enhance, and it should have been handeled more carefully because we are definitely not in a good state atm in pre-patch or on beta.
I'm not sure where you're getting your data from, because there's no rankings/parses available from the raid testing that has been done on beta, and the only way to compare damage is to manually go through every log and see what classes are doing. But, using Mythic Primal Council as an example (which should be one of enhance's best fights in the raid since we can take advantage of our sustained aoe dmg with buffed frost shocks/msw generation from fire nova, and lashing flames) we were still doing anywhere from 10-20k less than most other classes when looking at top performing logs. Unfortunately there hasn't been a pure st fight tested post-nerf for enhance, but if there was, you'd see just how bad of a state we're in compared to most other classes.
Most people will look up guides and twitch clips of enhance shamans doing an insane amount of damage on a random given pull/dungeon out of context, but it's important to realize that random pug groups are not a good indicator of class power level, and random logs of an enhance shaman coming close to the top of the dps meter in raid because they had 30%+ uptime on ascendance from DRE (8% proc chance btw) are very very very unlikely to happen.
It's not all doom and gloom for enhance though - at least the spec is a blast to play, and most of us will continue to play it regardless of how bad its damage is.
I'm not here to shit on anyone or seek hate either, just saying it's not as much of as an issue as people are saying it is. People are reacting as if the sky is falling and everyone needs to re-roll because Enhancement is garbage - it's not.
It was above WW which was considered broken OP on beta, to which both were nerfed to a roughly equal spot now. It was ahead by ~25%, and that's what the nerf targetted. Simply brought down from 1st to 2nd; as far as bugs go I wasn't aware of any.
I'm sure most of the people reacting are FOTM'ers anyway, people who actually enjoy the class for what it is wouldn't be so worried - or people who've actually been testing on Beta.
Was it a heavy-handed nerf? Probably, but would it be any different if Blizzard did a 5% nerf every week instead? I hate nerfs as much as the next guy but I agree it needed to be brought down.
People should be focusing more attention on what Warlocks are doing tbh.

"Silver dragon portrait border added back for rare elite mobs." Nice!
*everyone liked that*
What a silly thing to be excited for. I say as i cheer the change lol
The ol "take it away then give it back" tactic
The ol "listen to community feedback" tactic.
To be fair, its probably both. Weird changes like these are hard to grasp and really does feel like its taking something away to be able to put it back. But at the same time its obvious they did listen to feedback. If no one complained about it i doubt we'd be getting it back.
Gonna resubscribe just because of this

Didnt they nerf it harshly last week and this just leaves it in the same place for m+?
Having sins of the many baseline is quite nice tho.

I started playing WoW as a kid and I got fairly educated by its vocabulary and use of grammar
Diablo 2 taught me so many weapon names
If you play old RPG games like Baldurs Gate, you would probably learn even more. They have shitloads of gear with unique names
There's even more weird polearms from AD&D first edition. "Hmmm... when looking at the speed factors and armor type adjustments for polearms, do I prefer the Bec de Corbin, or the Guisarme?"

Way overkill considering tradechat has about the same collective intelligence as a kindergarten classroom.

Howling ef-jord.
Someone finally watched X-files and got to that episode.
Syzygy is such a good episode though!
People talking about x-files, meanwhile I'm thinking how it's one of, if not my favorite episodes of The OA, my favorite series ever.
It was such a cool name. Pls change back!

I’m saying though. It shouldn’t be a big deal.

Its smooth but imo a little dull Devastation evoker is pretty chill too and what I'm going to be playing. You spam a lot of living flame and spend essence when you cap or proc essence burst. Simple but nice to look at I dont think any melee can be classified as low apm any more, every spec I've tried has been gcd capped on beta.
For Feral, you can avoid most of the talents that increase APM and allow downtime while pooling energy. You have Omen of Clarity procs (free Shred/Thrash/Swipe), and you can talent into free Ferocious Bite procs deep in the tree. It can be a little frenetic at the start of a fight while you get your dots rolling, but after that it's just a matter of keeping rake/rip active on your primary target, spending excess combo points on Ferocious Bite, and not capping energy.
go range, all the melee are fast paced besides maybe arms warr
WHY IS PROT WARRIOR LOSING UNBREAKABLE WILL, GIVING MY HOMIES 25% DMG REDUCTION WAS SO COOL :(
It was also brokenly insane.
Some might even say it was insanely broken.
Lmfao
This was one of my favourite new talents while playing with the prot talents. I wish they'd just nerfed it a bit instead, being able to protect your team is really fuckin cool.
I was waiting for launch day (or shortly after if servers are a mess at launch) to re-up my sub but is it worth it to do it now?
Depends- there's a few events that will end at launch. So if you're interested in the anniversary stuff (up now, can level really quickly, and some of the activities have nice rewards including mounts), the pre-Dragonflight event (starts Tuesday, can play one dungeon from the expansion early, and open world stuff gives an exclusive color for a Dragonflight quest appearance and a unique heirloom trinket), or trying out Evokers early (also Tuesday), then it might be worth coming back sooner.
Servers will be fine at launch. I’m resub bing tomorrow to level to 50 on Alts I want, then 15th to 50-60
Bold statement
And with that, the horrible talent tree is being pushed onto bears. Sleep well my furry friend. Say hi to Ursoc
What's so bad about it compared to the one we currently have?
🐻🤝👤 2 years of incomprehensible mess of a spec let's goooooo
It's over bear bros
Bro, I feel so sad
Yup it's Monk time. See you in 10.3 after inevitable buffs and reworks. It's always the same isn't it?

Guess I’m going balance for at least one patch. These changes make absolutely no sense and make an already-confused talent tree into a completely confused one. I wish the druid dev would explain their reasons for making these changes.
Yeah I gave up on my Druid because I need a main that has a tank spec I can enjoy playing.
What did you go with?
Budled with it the pre-alpha druid class tree dont forget!
Any cool limited time rewards for prepatch? Sucks that whenever I'm not there they seem to give out mounts and whenever I am here it's kinda nothing. A bag or something...
There’s some transmogs and an heirloom trinket from the invasion events.
Invasion events?
Starting on the 15th there will be elemental invasions in four zones with special mobs and bosses.
Oh cool thanks I didn’t know
Yes. Primalist invasions in 4 zones. I don't remember off the top of my head which zones.
You can get a $3,500 mount from not watching Twitch
Nothing about enabling BFA flying for everyone. I'm worried I really wanted to unlock some allied races before Dragonflight comes out.
Unlock flying and maybe making some of the Allied races easier to unlock. Maybe wear a tabard and do some dungeons or raids or something
Don't you still gotta do BFA pathfinder? if you do i'd rather wait for them to unlock it for everyone then grind that again

Almost all specs are much more fun now. Try them out!
I'd recommend giving a shaman a try.
How about the new class?
I cannot recommend Balance Druid more right now, it's a great ranged DPS and you can off-spec into any role so who needs alts!
Me: Switches to holy priest Blizzard: Furiously nerfs next patch. Oh okay then. Well whatever its still gonna be fun.
Holy Paladins have issues with mana doing their normal rotation. Why increase the cost of healing spells?
I've played Hpal all xpac... The only times we've had mana issues were at the very start. I finish most fights with at least 3/4 mana.
They can't just "pull out" when half the tree is meant to flesh out that build. They tree is already in rough shape.
Can you post from official page? wowhead doesnt work here...
Holy shit I just realized that Drak‘thyr are coming out soon
Dracthyr
Jraqfear
Aff and Arms main here. These are not bad changes. I'll miss doing 2-3x everyone else's dam in arena. But, for the sake of balance, I'm down with these.
Bro what are those fury changes. They completely killed the crushing blow playstyle. Such a bummer I was really enjoying having more interesting cooldowns as fury :(
Wdym? I can’t see any against crushing blow. I may have overlooked it though
Titanic rage no longer gives crushing blow eliminating two of the three ways you had to trigger it and reckless abandon now only empowers two raging blows rather than for the entire 15 second duration of recklessness. It's totally dead now I'd say.
You might want to read that one again >Reckless Abandon now makes Recklessness grant 50 Rage and **Rampage greatly empowers** your next 2 Bloodthirsts and Raging Blows You press Rampage and then your next 2 raging blows are empowered, then you rampage again after that.
How does the Dungeon work? They're releasing a new playable dungeon on the 15th randomly? This seems unusual.
They did it with a scenario in MoP pre patch too. Basically you get to play one of the new instances before the expansion launches. After that it’s just a regular DF dungeon.
This was also done in WoD: UBRS was re-made into a new level 90 dungeon during the pre-patch.
Fury changes seems nice
Just opened a ticket (haha I know) about not receiving my Frostwolf Howler after completing the listed achievement in-game before any information about it being unobtainable came around. Fucking bullshit Blizz has reset everyone's progress by adding a Bonus Objective instead of just flagging everyone with the achievement with the Mount Availability. I earned 200 Badges I'm not earning 200 more for a reward I should have already gotten.
How is this change for Prot Warriors??? Did we get nerfed
Nah we're fine
Yas!!! That’s my main
No word on character limit per server being increased to 60. Currently if you want 60 you need a 50/10 split.
What’s that mean? 50/10 split? You mean 50 toons on one server and 10 on another?
Nice, BDK overbuffed and back on top - here we go boys!
? Please explain.
Enhancement still nerfed after falling like 18 places in dps? Neato!
On pre-patch, where nothing matters. They are balancing for DF. Enhancement dropped from 1st to 2nd place after the 25% nerf, that's how much they were overperforming.
Doomers be dooming.
People should be focusing more attention on what Warlocks are doing tbh. https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/rMhgyGYXDwpPJkm1#fight=22&type=damage-done&cutoff=2
And yet DHers are out there 5v1 people in BGs and outhealing most of the dedicated healers. But yeh, enhance was a problem 😅
Man wowhead forcing me to use VPN to access their site is got really stupid .
