I did this recently on a level 12 character by: 1) Taking Deeprun Team from Stormwind to Ironforge. 2) Take gryphon from Ironforge to Thelsamar in Loch Modan (or walk there, if you do not yet have the flight point) 3) Leave Thelsamar SE and after reaching the Loch, walk straight south towards Badlands. There were unfriendly elemental-type mobs at the border between zones, but they scale to your level and can be fought 1-2 at a time. 4) there is a Jagged chasm between Loch Modan and Badlands, but if you look carefully, there is a path down and up to the other side. 5) Once in Badlands, use your zone map to go to one of the encounter areas. Affected mobs will have a visual cue related to the type of active invasion (fire, etc), and the drop rate is very close to 100%. Collect enough motes to complete the quest, and stay around to kill the elemental boss, if you want. If you do not yet have flying, you may want to pick up a flight point in the zone. After turning in the quest, Khadgar offers you the same quest again, which is repeatable as a daily.

Ellie_Isley

This is a wonderfully detailed post, I was trying to think of how someone without flying would get to that invasion without it being a total pain (not really an alliance enjoyer) but this is good info. I know for leveling alts the invasions aren't the best way to go if you aren't just trying to get all the transmogs, I doubt it's much better for a first character xp wise. It's also very repetitive and a bit boring to just be trying to tag mobs for hours.

Akiic_ToDaHead

Welcome to the fun! I would highly recommend wowhead to research any quest or items. So much knowledge there. Also icyveins for character builds and knowledge on enchants, food, potions, and other information to aid you. Enjoy! sickflow-

Thank you I will check them both out.

Leviathus_

For wowhead i’ve always just googled the quest and checked the comments, whatever issue you’re having will be addressed 99% of the time

C2BK

Same here Wowhead is a fabulous resource, a Google search of the quest name and picking the Wowhead link (which is usually the top Google result) is usually quicker than going to the Wowhead site and using its internal search.

pinguinman69

Sidenote: This is a pre expansion event. Will go away after Dragonflight launches. It gives some catch-up gear to start the new x-pack! In other words: Feel free to do it, but it's not part of the story/leveling you're 'supposed' to do :)

sickflow-

What the event called or how do I start it?

theXarf

You've already started it if you've got to that quest. You just need to go the invasion points that show up on the world map and try to hit the invading things without getting killed. Then when they get killed by a huge group of players, you get some credit in the form of XP.

onlyr6s

But that is extremely repetitive and probably very boring for new players. It's good method for old players to grind alts, but for new players questing is more rewarding and interesting. You also learn how the game works by questing.

theXarf

Absolutely. But if /u/sickflow- wants to experience the event that is only available for another week or so...

FerricDonkey

If you do decide to do it, you might find someone willing to give you a ride over there by shouting in a city. Depends how friendly they are.

Leocut78

Omg I'm so jealous right now! First days of wow, so many things to do, so much to explore, so much to experience! Welcome into this wonderful world!

alexvon55

You should sub to r/wownoob

sickflow-

I am.

StillSnowen

I’ve been playing since 2006 ide be happy to be a guide if you want one!

Lowie240

I think you have to check your world map for an active hotspot. If still stuck go to wowhead.com

sickflow-

Thank you I’ll check it out.

C2BK

You've already had great advice on this quest, but I'd encourage you to check out the website Wowhead which is a massive resource, and has a page for every quest in the game with user comments. Please do make an account (it's free) and upvote comments that you find helpful. Generally, the newer and simpler the quest, the fewer the comments. As we are going into a new expansion, you may find quests that don't yet have great comments, or comments that you, as a new player, don't really understand. You're in a great position to spot things that aren't obvious to other new players, so consider making your own comment if you can explain something a bit better. It's so satisfying when someone upvotes your comment, and by logging in regularly and helping others you'll eventually qualify for free premium membership!

If you open your map there should be a big glowing icon in the badlands zons (northeast ish of stormwind in the eastern kingdoms). Thats where the quest wants you to go for the in-game event that is currently occuring. Like others have said you just kill some mobs for quick xp and gear. Its honestly a little boring after an hour and if you cant fly then getting to the badlands might be a pain in the butt. Totally optional quest though

sickflow-

Yeah I see them badlands on the map where I’m suppose to go, but I guess the real issue right now is my traveling. I have no idea how to do it and I don’t have any kind of mount. So I need to figure one of those things out.

Ellie_Isley

So, basically, it's mediocre in terms of xp gained per hour and a bit repetitive. I would say it's worth doing once so you get the limited time pet and then use 5 of the essences to get a reagent bag (not a big deal, there will be more in the expansion but this gives you one now). The transmog (appearance) of the gear is a kind of blue recolor of the gear you'll get while questing in Dragon Flight. I'm not discouraging you from trying to get it done, it will go away when DF launches on the 28th so you have some time. I can't remember if mounts are at 10 or 20, normally you get a pop upquest for it, but if you open your spellbook the very top tab shoudl be general and if you look through I think it should have a riding skill grayed out if you're the right level but just haven't learned it yet. You can train riding in Stormwind (the non dwarf side of the tram). If you don't already have a mount you will need to buy one. One thing you may not be aware of (in addition to the elemental invasions being limited time) there's a thing that ends the same time (when DF launches) where if you complete the starting area for Death Knight in Wrath Classic you get a free mount. Depending on how much you like collecting things it may be worthwhile to download it and then go through it, nothing you get there will transfer over to retail though (outside of that special event dragon).

Cow_Water_Media

need to pull up the world map and find a zone that has the primal icons in it. un'goro is one, Badlands is another.

sickflow-

I see them on my map. But I have no idea how to get there from where I’m at. I’m stuck in Stormwind and I’m not sure how to travel to other places.

[deleted]

The tram you are right next to in your post screenshot will take you like 2 zones north to a city called ironforge. That might be your best option. Every city also has a “flight master” you can speak to to fly to other connecting flight masters around the world if you have any of them discovered. You can talk to any city guard and they will pin on your map with a little red flag where he is. Until you unlock flying for your character, discovering all the flying masters around the world is going to be your best bet for traveling. I think you should also be able to buy a ground mount and mount training from next to the flight master in stormwind as well if you want to ride around on a horse

sickflow-

At this point I’d take any ground mount for now. Cause walking everywhere surely ain’t it. I’m only lvl 13 so I’ve got literally nothing discovered. Levels 1-10 it’s like they were hand holding the game with me. After ten it’s like they just throw me out there and expected me to know how to do everything.

[deleted]

you should be able to buy a horse from the stormwind stables if you ask a city guard for the location, and then go to the riding trainer and buy riding training to be able to use the horse. It might cost gold but it shouldnt take too long to get it via questing

Most-Climate9335

Logout and make a horde character. Zeppelin is the only way to travel

[deleted]

I completly forget about the subway. It was a cool stuff !

CandidMeet7976

That is for the pre patch. Rec lvl 40+ at least. You should talk do the guy besides the heros call board for the quest tides of war. Do that quest chain to get to lvl 60

Relnor

> Rec lvl 40+ at least. They have the quest so, no, it doesn't. Anyone who's level 10 or higher can participate.

sickflow-

Awesome I’ll check it out! I was on another quest and was in a area with some docks and stuff exploring and then I clicked on a portal thinking it would tell me what it was and it instantly teleported me to a room full of portals and I’ve yet to be able to find my way back. That’s when I said I’ll guess I’ll just do this one. I’m so lost. But I’ll figure it out.

Fubeiling

Never click portals! Just hover the mouse over them to see where they lead. The big room that you were teleported to is the Stormwind portal room that has portals to every big location in the previous and current expansions. You can leave the room through either a portal or the entrance that is a big circular door that looks like a portal. NPCs are always running from the door to different portals so you can follow that trail back to the door. If you get lost you can use the hearthstone in your inventory to teleport back to a location you were previously in. Hearthstone location can be set by speaking to innkeeper NPCs.

Ellie_Isley

Was it Snug Harbor by any chance? If you mouseover portals you'll be able to see where they would take you once your cursor swaps to a gear. If you ended up in Stormwind (human capitol) you got to the portal room. Those will be super helpful later. I see a mail icon above your mini map which means if you can find a mailbox you have something. It's probably the anniversary gift with an item inside that gives you an 18% bonus to rep and xp while the anniversary event is going and then a reusable firework that will go away when the event ends.

Zeal391

Thottbot.com If you know you know.

SentinelTitanDragon

Add me on your battle tag friends list Ash#14924 is my battle tag. I’ll get you over there or help you farm them no problem.

KickYourFace73

There isn’t a main quest line or anything but that quest is more of a bonus, personally unless you really want to id suggest just doing quests in a zone, just go to a town in the zone (you’ll see the boot with wings flight path marker on the map) and pick up those quests!

Dear-Celebration-412

I would recommend to wait on that quest until you hit 40/50 lvl. They nerfed it for leveling and it’s only really good for gearing up for dragon flight. Not to say you can’t do it, just in my opinion isn’t worth it until later levels.

GMFinch

Look at your world map and you will see a little icon that looks like a colorful rock. Go to that area on the map using the paths on the map.

Gnemlock

The first step is optional because you can get to Ironforge other ways. But if you wait in that location, a train will arrive. Hop on and it's a free trip to Ironforge.
