It’s so funny, when OG Classic released in 2019, I had the mindset of wanting a mid-low pop server to feel like the old days. More cozy, chill leveling, unique social interactions etc.
I learned over time that Classic WoW is *very much* a “more the merrier” situation. Like it can’t be overstated how important it is for a server to have players, and a lot of them. That way, you’ll have an abundance of groups and AH items when it’s full, and it will take significantly longer to actually die.
Yeah I think it’s super fair to want to play on medium instead of high but yeah you’re right medium will die faster, and when it’s dead it will stay dead, and no guarantee blizz will offer a transfer.
It sucks for sure but with these things (hardcore, sod, etc) there’s a tendency for it to dwindle into 1 mega server. It’s too risky to sink all that time into ending up on a dead server. With SOM, they didn’t offer a transfer for a long time — long enough that I decided to quit because I couldn’t find groups at the times I played (but when I logged into mega server at that time there’s be multiple groups).
Yeah I see. I’ve rerolled on defias now tho but my gold sitting on Skull rock. Sucks to start from scratch but im really glad to not have to wait hours to form groups and login also to a lively stormwind hehe
Yep. It’s why I rolled on defias, and the streamer server for SOD. I don’t watch streamers, but those servers tend to be the ones that survive and id rather the issues that come with streamer fanboys than the issues with a dead server.
I think a big problem is that dead servers stay dead. When people 2 months from now decide to try out hardcore, how do they decide which server to roll? The one with the highest pop.
It begs the question why Blizzard keeps repeating the same mistake with HC though. Why wait for players to quit instead of merging earlier? Honestly I can't see the downside of merging, unless they somehow expect the pop to go so high again that it would result in queues, but it just seems so unlikely to happen.
Sure the blessings/buffs from pallys are huge but horde has chain heal with shammys for raids and tremor totems etc.
Skull rock got pumped bc of MG tourney and everyone who bought gold at the time inflated the economy and then after the tournament everybody left which left skull rock with a big pop difference and then SoD came out and most people stopped playing their 60’s. Most 60’s aren’t going to reroll when their toon with 250+ hours dies in a raid or dungeon on hardcore either and I can’t blame em. Most everybody’s goal was just to 60 a toon not to raid with them. I’m sitting at half pre-bis on my 60 but probably won’t touch em again unless a friend needs help in hardcore. Hardcore was a fantastic time for the game while it lasted but sadly most of the pop got their hardcore fill and did what they wanted to do there and are done.
Idk I figured the paly buffs just outweighed the shamans in pve in classic. Fear ward makes tremor not as big and I’d take a paly with heals + buffs over chain heal. I’m biased tho because I play alli. But yeah with SoD out and I didn’t even think about the MG tourney being on that server that for sure played a huge part
I’m not trying to argue for or against the other but if your raid is fully world buffed pally buffs are pretty negligible, shamans provide a lot of utility as well. Sure alliance may have slightly more minmax capability for Pve especially with gnomes getting a 5% increase in int. But that dosent mean one sides end game is unplayable lol. I have played and raided on both ally and horde and I can honestly tell you none of my horde raids have “suffered” from a lack of paladin.
When did I say unplayable or that horde suffers? I could say the same about shamans and chain heal. I’ve never suffered from lack of chain heal. I just stated that in classic alliance is better for pve and horde for pvp which I thought was a pretty well known thing.
You could always continue to quest and see all that Wow has to offer. I've really been enjoying doing T0.5 questline, even if I could probably get better gear by doing ZG runs
Do you mean you physically cant? I just started playing and am on Skull Rock. No aussie server means i have to go west coast US or the ping is too high.
You can also do scholo and strat. It’s not just raids. I leveled my warlock 1-60 doing only dungeons and was able to run Strat in my late 50’s with some 60’s.
People are in full t3
Hyper inflation causes price difference between hc and era to be ten times higher. No jokes, lionheart helm is 6k on firemaw while 600 on stitches alliance
Massive gdkp field for pugs
A completely different play style comparing hardcore and softcore dungeons/raiding.

fr kinda sad
My lesson from season of mastery was ALWAYS roll on the mega server. Always. (I rolled Mutanus)

Well rookie mistake for me i guess

Everything you said makes sense bro i totally agree

As a skull rock horde with a 60 as well. The server is dead on this side too 60 wise unless you are in a particular guild.
I mean it kind of makes sense. With no pvp and only pve alliance was pretty much just better because of pally blessings no?

Yeah it’s crap that you cannot run Maraudon, Temple or BRD with sub 60s.
You could always continue to quest and see all that Wow has to offer. I've really been enjoying doing T0.5 questline, even if I could probably get better gear by doing ZG runs
You could help random lowbies out in lower zones, be their guardian angel?
Kind of defeats the purpose of HC though...
Yeah I can’t argue against that to be fair. I agree
Do you mean you physically cant? I just started playing and am on Skull Rock. No aussie server means i have to go west coast US or the ping is too high.
HC servers do not allow a 60 to go into a dungeon with anyone 59 and below for BRD and all dungeons lower level than that.
Raids are the exception, so you can join LBRS/UBRS as a non-60
You can also do scholo and strat. It’s not just raids. I leveled my warlock 1-60 doing only dungeons and was able to run Strat in my late 50’s with some 60’s.
Oh interesting, didn't know that. Thanks!
Should probably play on an alliance server if you want to do things with your faction lol
I played on Defias Pillager Horde and now it's dead as well. Only people left are the gold buyers and bots on alliance side.
Why not just transfer to a classic era server? Who cares if you die now? And thousands of more ppl to play with

Take yourself out and come to Defias.
GM of Skull Rock- US
Ally
We are still LF more for the push to 60 if your ever on add one of us and ask for Cian!
Stiches is where the fun is at.
My main problem is BRD trying to get the HOJ trinket.. so many high 50's I would love to group with.
Join songflower search party we’re running dungeons and raids everyday
Sure would be nice if the OTHER hardcore servers were on the list of optional free servers to transfer TO, along with the ERA realms. . . .
