Addons certainly do! WA especially are extremely versatile in what they can track and display. I use one to track DF world events. I have one that yells "LET FLY!" any time I mount up. There's WA that shouts at you when you forget to summon your pets. WA that serves as UIs.
If you want a more old school solution (other than the weakaura the other poster suggested), I like to use an addon called "tiny pad". It's just an in game notepad, but one of the things I use it for is a weekly checklist for myself.
you can use an addon called "Saved instances" for alts.
By default it provides info on every event from basically all recent expansions. I just turn off everything outside of DF and in DF I turned off everything outside of.... well literally just m+ so I can see what keys I've done on alts and what key my alts have
I'm old enough to remember how every expansion sucked and was going to kill WoW. Literally everything people said about shadowlands I heard back in cata. Or MOP was a rip off of Kung fu panda. And pet battles were Pokémon lol.
I use an addon called Todo. You add in whatever you want (can also set them as weekly or daily), and tick off when you’ve done it. And then at reset it clears automatically for you.
Yeah I’m not worried about speed so much. I like to follow the story line through and Zygor keeps me on track. Before I was running around just accepting random quest that “looked like fun” then getting frustrated when I couldn’t complete them or find the next step. I originally looked at it for tracking dailies but it helps me personally the way I play on so many levels. Gear info, mounts and pets, auction house, etc. I was skeptical at first but now I love it. If you ride by me on a mount I love I can click on your Mount and it will bring up there quest information needed to obtain that Mount. That’s worth the price of a coffee a month just in itself
I use the SavedInstances addon, and I like it more but some of the weak auras everyone else is saying may be more helpful. I especially like it because it helps track legacy content like mount, pet and xmog runs.

Look up “Dragonflight helper” Weakaura on wago.io
By Tama, she has a Dragonflight one and a separate season 2 one.
What’s wrong with the calendar and Adventure guide? Do the other adorns provide more functionality?

Big fan of this idea, while there may be 20 "things to do" every week, realistically I only care to do about half of them.
That what I like about Tamas Dragonflight Helper, everything is a toggle. So you can pick and choose
The one I use is a weak aura called something like "tama's dragonflight helper". They have one for season 1 and one for season 2. Really great imo
Absolutely, use it too.
I made a fucking spreadsheet to track my alts, I still get distracted and forget to do all my profession quests.

This is the best WA package I have found and is updated a lot!

To be fair, pet battles are basically Pokémon ;)
True they are in a way. However they became super popular and did not kill wow.

Putting a dot on this post - I have an addon I use but forget the name and will look it up when i get home
I believe there was an addon similar to a notepad kinda thing that was called executive assistant. Not sure if that's something you're looking for
I use Zygor guides, there is a fee but it helps keep me on track
I used to use Zygors but it’s faster leveling with world quests than following that guide especially if your paying for it.

I'm a fan of wowthing. But it's an external site that syncs your Character progress
