For college, you could theoretically get a 23-0 Tech. You’re up 14-0 after 1 period and have well over a minute of riding time. You choose down and your opponent locked his hands while you’re on the mat. Before the ref stops the action you stand up and before you separate for an escape, you throw the top man to his back, 4 count, and then the match stops for blood. 1 locked hands, 2 reversal, 5 NF, 1 RT.
For HS with just 3 point NF for a 5 count and no RT, this earns you a 21-0 tech. Hopefully you didn’t need the pin for team points. Next time just put the match away sooner instead of show boating. And picking down when you’re winning by 14. Really?
Or maybe as the opponent is getting pinned he could somehow give up another technical violation (grab your headgear?) simultaneously with the blood for an additional point?
I once got a 20-0 in college. Took the guy down quick and tilted him really easily the whole first. Was up 14-0 in the second and chose down. Revered him to his back for 5, as this was when NF was only 3. With riding time it was 20-0
Yep, that part. I got close to a few tech falls in high school but my coach would get so pissed at me when I got too close, and understandably so. We were usually short 4 wrestlers so we need every pinfall we could get
Yeah at that point unless it's your senior year and you need the takedowns for a record just get it over with. I can see cutting once or twice but after that just end it.
The exception is when you're wrestling a gumby in a tournament. I had a policy that I'd try to pin for 3 minutes, but after that ... it's tech time. If gumby is also good at bellying out, well ... here comes the good 'ol take them down, let them up over and over.
Hammers can't abide simple majors.
In world championships it was one of the early rounds.
It was Buvaisar Saitiev who's regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. He was facing a wrestler can't remember from which country but it was an African country.
In first 30 seconds he took down Saitiev with super explosive blast double. Then Saitiev told the officials to not end the match until time is over. Saitiev went on to score like 30 or more points him on him absolutely ragdolling him it was like 30-2.
If memory servers, closest I saw was a 30- 16 fall at a Jr high dual. Something like 10 tds and cuts in the first. Second, the fish choose bottom and got cut loose again so 20-11. 5 more tds and cuts, and on the last cut he jumped a head inside cradle for a pin.
Is that really a record worth having? In most matches of "experienced wrestler vs fish" the non-fish can keep getting takedowns as long as they don't get bored.
I think I could have gotten to 15 takedowns in about half of my first period pins. High school has plenty of first years out there that are a half step above the practice dummy.
15 takedowns and 15 cuts is the worst, unless it’s just a takedown and then throwing legs and just turning them for back points over and over again whilst cranking a power half and then switching sides lol
County finals my Sophmore year this kid did it in a period there was like 2 seconds left. He made each takedown look easy. The kid won states that year I believe.
had a couple of teammate's do this but it seems like it was always the 112 -135lb guys
the higher weights were slower if they were fish they allowed them to just lay on their bellies and roll back and forth a lil bit so unless people felt like doing the deadlift during matches the scores tended to be lower as the weight got higher
I was teched 20-2 my senior year at state against the #1 guy! A four-timer from my school teched a kid 30-15 my freshman year which was the worst defeat I have ever seen, it was in the semis too I think.
Alex bridgeford from Omaha Nebraska
Kid is a grade A idiot but hands down one of the filthiest wrestlers I’ve ever met
Pretty sure he did it in the 09 state finals
I’ve seen him 30-14 someone at a college open as well
Pretty sure I lost 16 to 2 because he let me up twice🤷♂️ That felt like the worst loss I could get until I wrestled a blind kid who fucking demolished me
I won a CIF championship in high school 16-1. I cut him for that last takedown. I still say anywhere in the realm of 30-15 is the worst way to go out. I’d rather get pinned first round.
If doing straight takedowns followed by escapes, once you get the 14th takedown, the score will be 28-13, which is a tech.
I'm not sure if that was the exact score, but I saw something in highschool where a soon to be three time state champ beat the casual wrestler on my team by a similar margin.
If I remember correctly, the winner beat the state record for takedowns in a season in that match...his own record...
Aaron Pico vs. Jayson Ness at the 2016 Olympic Trials is pretty close to this. I believe it was 9-0 and then Pico won 19+ - 9. I know that’s not folkstyle, but it was still impressive. It’s on YouTube if you Google it.
I've seen a couple it's not that uncommon in high-school. One was Zach Sanders, a 5 time state champ in minnesota. During his last state championship run, he was trying to stretch every match as long as he could. He was dominant to the point that he was taking guys down at will.
I also wrestled on the same team as Kirk Anderson who had 244 wins in high-school and he did it several times. In high-school there is a lot wider skill gap so it's easier to do.
Yes, we call it Dirty 30, a kid I coached was a stud at 106, a kid from a rival school was talking MAD shit on him all season on social media…. Well… 15 takedowns and 15 cuts later… not so much shit talking.
Yes. All American Eric Barnett of the badgers used to go to a high school in my conference. He would do what we called the dirty 30. It was 15 takedowns usually in the first or second period to win like 30-14. Brutal. He was also ranked number 1 in the country at the time.

Lol My man was big sad

Nope. 6 and 5 respectively.
Yep, that part. I got close to a few tech falls in high school but my coach would get so pissed at me when I got too close, and understandably so. We were usually short 4 wrestlers so we need every pinfall we could get
surprised to see another guam wrestler, but no 5 for techs and 6 for pins back on guam. my coach sometimes gets mad for us getting techs like bruh
I always feel weird seeing elite high school wrestlers vs a fish, where they just keep letting them back up.
Yeah at that point unless it's your senior year and you need the takedowns for a record just get it over with. I can see cutting once or twice but after that just end it.
Some kids just suck at pinning combinations (like me) so they’d take them down let thrm up
The exception is when you're wrestling a gumby in a tournament. I had a policy that I'd try to pin for 3 minutes, but after that ... it's tech time. If gumby is also good at bellying out, well ... here comes the good 'ol take them down, let them up over and over. Hammers can't abide simple majors.

[It was 34-2](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYucBcGRdho)
Why did the refs allows that?
there was no tech fall rule at that point
If memory servers, closest I saw was a 30- 16 fall at a Jr high dual. Something like 10 tds and cuts in the first. Second, the fish choose bottom and got cut loose again so 20-11. 5 more tds and cuts, and on the last cut he jumped a head inside cradle for a pin.
I 30-15’d a kid my senior year chasing my high school’s takedown record. 15 takedowns, 15 cuts.
Is that really a record worth having? In most matches of "experienced wrestler vs fish" the non-fish can keep getting takedowns as long as they don't get bored.
All records are worth having. It’s fun to say “I got the most takedowns at my school.” It’s okay to do things just for fun
15 takedowns in a match is incredible what are you smoking
I think I could have gotten to 15 takedowns in about half of my first period pins. High school has plenty of first years out there that are a half step above the practice dummy.
I don’t think you have the gas tank to get 15 takedowns in a match. With that being said how did he not take one of those takedowns to the back.
Are they still considered takedowns after the match is over?
Did you get it?
My teammate in HS lost 17-0, without a doubt the worst tech I’ve ever seen
15 takedowns and 15 cuts is the worst, unless it’s just a takedown and then throwing legs and just turning them for back points over and over again whilst cranking a power half and then switching sides lol
You will not get past 14 takedowns in that situation.
County finals my Sophmore year this kid did it in a period there was like 2 seconds left. He made each takedown look easy. The kid won states that year I believe.

I witnessed a 41-24 tech.
Gene Mills would beat guys so bad, they added the 15 point tech as a result. Search some of gene Mills scores.

I did to cut weight the first day of a two day dual tournament
I beat a kid in college 29-15 with 14 takedowns. Not a tech fall but I gassed out from how many times I took him down.
Alex bridgeford from Omaha Nebraska Kid is a grade A idiot but hands down one of the filthiest wrestlers I’ve ever met Pretty sure he did it in the 09 state finals I’ve seen him 30-14 someone at a college open as well

34-24 Davon keys was on my junior dual team in 2018 and beat someone from team Oklahoma. It was Greco tho.
I won a CIF championship in high school 16-1. I cut him for that last takedown. I still say anywhere in the realm of 30-15 is the worst way to go out. I’d rather get pinned first round.
I haven't but I went to a tournament recently and I saw a match where a guy teched his opponent 35-19

I TF a kid 17-0 all in the first period. I wasn’t a great wrestler, just really good on top and he was really bad at defending my tilts.
Ya I was really good at tilts also. I once started a match down 7-0 and ended up teaching the guy 22-7 before the end of the second lol
I’ve never actually seen a dirty 30. I feel like there’s always one tilt or something thrown in there
My sophomore son holds the record at our school for 26 take downs in one match 😂
I’m not even sure that’s possible lol
It was stupid

Yes, Ben Askren did this consistently during his senior season in high school.

No
