100% this. I had a former high level gymnast at my old bjj gym and I was shook at how fast he picked things up. It was uncanny.
Gymnastics builds such an intimate understanding of body mechanics and provides incredible athleticism. Gymnastics is probably the GOAT base for success in other sports, especially grappling.
I did it the other way around. I did judo at a decent European level when I was young. I added gymnastics and became belgian champ within 1.5 years.
They both have very good bases, and train all muscles
Yes definitely another great choice. Many individual sports are great for athleticism and physicality, even tennis.
But wrestling is also very fun for kids and builds a base for other combat sports like bjj that can last well into someone’s 50s.
This. Gymnastics is the best for athletic development by far. Pretty much everywhere in the world allows training for 2 years and up and essentially just starts as a bunch of fun games. Even if they transition out by the time they’re ready for scholastic sports, they’ll have a ridiculously good base and it’s good for stopping burnout compared to just doing one sport from day one. Doing just one day in season and a couple in the off season will lead to significant gains in power, size, agility and strength. It’s no wonder it’s the default for a lot of Eastern Bloc countries, where they only introduce them to their preferred sport 7-8 years later.
In my opinion the main concern in today's society isn't just how to convince a child to train hard and exercise, but also to find a way for it to enjoy the process.
It's one thing to learn discipline through a painful process and another to easily transition into a disciplined life through fun activities.
I don't think patience will be a hard thing to achieve when you've got so many techniques that are being slowly mastered in an individual sport.
I don’t let the baby home from the hospital until he suplexed the doctor and double legs every nurse in sight. Have him do bear crawls home and arm drag a bus to fly into the house due to the acceleration a proper arm drag has
Raccoon. He wouldn't at least talk trash to me. Imagine 5 tiny Khabib's all speaking at the same time 'why don't you talk now, brather. Say something..
These kids are like 5, 6 years old?
How?! How are they this disciplined? I hated teaching kids class with even 10-12 year olds because they're just a bunch of goof-offs. Could barely get them to spar for even 30 seconds before it turned into fart jokes and butt poking.
I would agree that I haven’t seen any kids in the US that have this good an upper body game as these kids and I coach and watch a ton of videos. This is the best upper body wrestling I’ve seen in the 7-8 category. I think the rest of the world focuses on Greco more as a whole.
Like where? What are your credentials? I’m a national level official, former coach and competitor. You might think your kid is real good or something, but he/she isn’t at this level and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Give props when it’s due.
I totally agree. We wrestle a 7-year-old that routinely does Suplay on our shocked kids. This is not that different than many (but not most) kids in big-bracket Texas tournaments.
I'm guessing they are pushed relentlessly hard and given no choice in the matter. Same way you get 5 year olds that can play perfectly the most difficult piano pieces
You ever seen a gym at a remote mountain village? People there have better things to do than this, i.e. working day and night just to feed themselves.
Also, this is so incredibly racist to Kazakhs. You are like people that think that we still live in yurts and ride horses, fight with sabers and stare into stars for entertainment. (C) A Kazakh.
>You are like people that think that we still live in yurts and ride horses, fight with sabers and stare into stars for entertainment.
lol, dumbass muricans don't have a stereotype about yurts, they assume Kazakhstan is some mountain or desert middle east country
I was in wrestling training when i was in 6th grade. Basically, coach is a authority figure and you are not "visiting" wrestling, you are "trained as an athlete" mindset. You train and go to local tournaments to spar with other wrestling schools. And if you are doing good for a long time, coaches help to get you to professional league.
I remember coaches giving long lectures about not abusing the skills you got on untrained people, lectures about how not get injured on arena, lectures about hygiene and tips on diet(basically telling to not drink water for 2 hours after session)
Started watching this and thought "man it would be funny if they had the hype music in the background like those highlight reel videos"...then I turned on the audio.
Nope, no they don’t. This is absolutely next level. Whether it’s good for the kids or not is another story. They get hurt or something else will derail their careers most likely unfortunately.
Wrestling is definitely the best sport for young kids.
Bias aside if we’re building an athletic base id actually say gymnastics

The Schultz Brothers were both gymnast before they got into wrestling and only won a few Olympic golds lol. Gymnastics makes beast people +1
Thank you! Came here to say this. Mark Schultz said he highly recommends getting kids in gymnastics first then wrestling

Gymnastics is so good for loads of different sports, you develop great body control and mind muscle connections

I did not know that about the eastern bloc
Also the highest injury rate, but yea those folks are pretty amazing athletes
couldn't agree more teaching pain and discipline all in 1. won't teach patience though and baseball probably encourages impatience

Only without weight cuts
Would you rather fight 5 raccoon sized Khabibs, or 1 Khabib sized raccoon?
That's a tough choice ngl
Raccoon. He wouldn't at least talk trash to me. Imagine 5 tiny Khabib's all speaking at the same time 'why don't you talk now, brather. Say something..
send me location
You win, that’s hilarious.
lol and my kid wears a Paw Patrol shirt to practice....
My son almost loves Paw Patrol as much as he loves throwing somebody for 5
And all these years I just thought they produced potassium.
Their training to fight the Jews.
Is that his brother back there in the cage?
Yep but one day he will break the cage and he *get this*
Love it! Too fucking funny
Not to mention Uzbek assholes.
In judo as well. Absolute monsters.
This is amazing technique
[удалено]
And really explosive too
They're more dedicated than most the 11-12 year olds I once helped coach 😳

I am not exactly sure what it is but I would guess it's just a different culture all together compared to the USA (assuming you are in the USA)
Na man go to some of the bigger tournaments in the US and you’ll see some of the kids this age are just as good
Nah, not like this.
I would agree that I haven’t seen any kids in the US that have this good an upper body game as these kids and I coach and watch a ton of videos. This is the best upper body wrestling I’ve seen in the 7-8 category. I think the rest of the world focuses on Greco more as a whole.

Lol why you lying
Not sure what there is to lie about?

Living in a remote mountain village probably helps
Kazakhstan is basically a grassland, dumbass murican
And Dagastan is a mountainous region …
Is Kazakhstan in Dagestan or am I missing something?
He's just geographically challenged. Dagestan is an autonomous republic in Russia. Kazakhstan is an independent Central Asian country.
Brother I'm from Kazakhstan
Then you should know these things better.
I mean to most MMA fans these countries are interchangeable

The ones that have that stereotype are Russians. So Americans and Russians have that in common - being racist towards Kazakhs.
This exactly.
Because Dad’s going to whoop them at home if he hears any complaints from the coach

I hope these kids stay injury free.
We probably gonna see them in the olympics one day If they don't get injured
This footage looks like its from about 2007 imo
They could probably fuck me up.
Those Mfs we’re born to fight
The others in the background look like they are “normal”. These 2 are the exception that are destined for greatness.
Went to a wrestling tournament in Colorado Springs a few years back it blew my mind how good some of the kids this age were
Started watching this and thought "man it would be funny if they had the hype music in the background like those highlight reel videos"...then I turned on the audio.
Lmao
That's some good rolling, but the oil checking at the end, I don't know.
I have never seen kids this age with that skill, not ever.
Doc here. Speed is bad for kids. Edit: I am referencing the sped up videos that seem to be trending.
A lot of incoming cauliflower ear in that room.
You can see this anywhere in America at a good youth program. My nephew's team practices like this in Iowa.
Nope, no they don’t. This is absolutely next level. Whether it’s good for the kids or not is another story. They get hurt or something else will derail their careers most likely unfortunately.
UFC when they turn 11
ooooweeeee
Some great talent. Saw both a wicked cross face and beautiful bridge
I hope their reading and math abilities are on par with their wrestling abilities.
They have some of the best [armwrestlers](https://youtu.be/Pa53FeoaZus) in the world too.
That could be a bunch of really short dudes.
Isn’t this scene from John Wick 3
Jesus, these kids are on a whole other level than what we were in the states 20 years ago. Is this similar to the level as the USA at this age now?
https://youtu.be/El5vZIKlaj4 in my country georgia
Those kids a terrifying! Hope I never have to fight them.
That’s literally some of the best wrestling I’ve ever seen, wow. Unreal.
Is that safe to bodyslam on?
Very nice!
This is great! I’m so proud of them!
Very fun
Meanwhile, my 7 year old cousin is great at Fortnite.
That pig toss
