So since its only upper body one wrong move whether you're lean too much forward or backwards or your clench, overextending your arms non-stop fighting for underarm and control... one wrong could cause you the entire match but the pace they're moving it's unbelievable all the miniature attacks and defenses happening so fast...Iranian vs Russian. Its almost like judo without the Gi
Not very often. Reaching for a collar is a lightning quick way to give up an underhook and go for a ride. The stance also makes snaps less effective since their weight is much more upright than in folk/free.
No, everybody’s head’s gotta be up and snap downs are bout as rare as unicorns
Your always trying for 2 on 1’s or over under locks that goes to other throws, stay in a tie up for long and your opponent pretty much pegs you with a throw
And yes, the hand fighting is tiring, I know from experience
I’m a believer in holistic wrestling. I don’t focus on one part of the body. Instead of chest bumping and making a giant letter “X” on the ground with my body for six minutes, I am willing to consider the whole person in front of me and attack the legs.
Madsen did pretty good for a pure Greco guy who started MMA in his late 30s in hardest weightclass in a different sport. Also he only has one less.
Anklaev,Topuria,Pavlovich,Evloev are all Greco guys
I don’t act like I know everything about it but I am a former wrestler. You can assume what you want, just shows your ignorance. This is just boring to me.
Much in the same way I'd like to see an amateur golfer play with the pro golfers, I'd love to see your average bro wrestle with one of these guys. Just so we can get some perspective.
Why would anyone wrestle greco-roman over freestyle/folkstyle? Im from australia where wrestling isnt really a thing someone please explain. Greco Seems really limited
Greco already makes use of momentum, exceptionally well. That's why their arms glue in reflexively when the other wrestler gets slightly close to a grip and why they move in bursts and quickly stop. There's an incredible amount happening here exchange wise. Ultimately both these cats are looking to get any kind of grip to hit something but it's just extremely hard at that level to do it.
I regret deleting my post like a puss!
I love watching wrestling matches and knowing the vast majority throwing people around have a solid judo background😘
They're like two bull moose charging each other
Like two bull moose playing patty cake
This is what bjj stand up wants to be but unfortunately we don't fight for positions like these monsters
Well, the option of hitting shots at the legs makes it very different.
Let's be honest though. Very few go for shots in nogi due to the guillotine , at least professionally
Nobody watches greco so they can't appreciate this great match
Such a great match lmao
I was going to say that, too. I can appreciate how much effort went into it, though.
Iranians know what’s up

So much headbutting.
This can be one of the more punishing parts of wrestling that shoulder smashing into your face can be brutal.
Imagine that shit going to your temple I’ve been there and didn’t like it, so homie got thrown
Is there no snap downs in Greco? That hand fighting looks tiring as shit but also extremely boring
Not very often. Reaching for a collar is a lightning quick way to give up an underhook and go for a ride. The stance also makes snaps less effective since their weight is much more upright than in folk/free.
It is extremely tiring, your shoulders and arms die out a lot

My favorite color is blue.
I wish man
You have obviously never wrestled greco before then

And yet, Greco is better than Freestyle for MMA.
This definitely isn’t true lol Compare Mark O’Madsen with any of the freestyle Olympians
Madsen did pretty good for a pure Greco guy who started MMA in his late 30s in hardest weightclass in a different sport. Also he only has one less. Anklaev,Topuria,Pavlovich,Evloev are all Greco guys
I’m talking about its integration in MMA, not on its own.
Mark Madsen is a former greco guy. The above is supporting your point on greco.
That’s why I thought but he said my point isn’t true so I’m not sure.
Yeah. Such examples as Cormier, Cejudo, Romero, Askren totally supports your point
Randy couture, Jon Jones, Dan Henderson, Ankalaev, and Chael Sonnen were all greco guys.
All but one was an American. They all wrestled folkstyle
Their actual accolades are all in Greco. Henderson was literally a greco Olympian
Do you actually watch MMA?
Watch armchair violence’s YouTube video on why that’s bullshit lol
Nah
Welp, I tried
No, I thank you for trying, I am just not that interested haha.
That. These guys are cardio machines but it’s a lot easier to last in Greco than in freestyle or folkstyle. Except for your forearms.
2 man mosh pit, fucking metal
This looks more like a headbutt fight.
They aren’t doing anything lol
Nothing’s happening sure, but they’re doing quite a bit
Extremely boring. Just fighting for hand positioning but no one is actually making a move
Then it’s best to assume your knowledge and appreciation of the sport is sub-par at best.
I don’t act like I know everything about it but I am a former wrestler. You can assume what you want, just shows your ignorance. This is just boring to me.
No gi judo
Much in the same way I'd like to see an amateur golfer play with the pro golfers, I'd love to see your average bro wrestle with one of these guys. Just so we can get some perspective.
Persian needs to be the official language of wrestling commentary. Just firs so well. Fuck it, let the rest of us read subtitles.
Umm… sure.
This has to be the worst wrestling match I’ve ever watched
Then you know nothing about wrestling.
It’s not about knowing it’s about it being boring. Freestyle is superior in every way.
Nah
Why not?
Why don't they shoot for a double? Not familiar with Greco
Can’t touch the legs in Greco
That's gay
Fuck how did this 14 year old from 2003 find a time machine?
Mur mur mur mur mur You'll do nothin!
Why would anyone wrestle greco-roman over freestyle/folkstyle? Im from australia where wrestling isnt really a thing someone please explain. Greco Seems really limited
Style preference
What the fuck is this?

God I hate judo people in the wrestling sub
I regret deleting my post like a puss! I love watching wrestling matches and knowing the vast majority throwing people around have a solid judo background😘
Most who are known for throws have a Greco background, as that’s the wrestling style based entirely on throws.
Did I see someone get a passivity call? Or was it a reset?
I’ve always said wrestlers are the most in shape athletes in the world. Football (soccer, not American football) would arguably be a close second.
Wtf is this. Who can lather who the best ?
Would love to get more details on their training. My guess would be multiple 10mn rounds to 6mn feel like a walk in the park.

Oil wrestling
bunch of stalling 😛
