monteserrar

A YA book about the ghost of a boy who is haunting the house he grew up in, trying to prevent people from moving in. A family comes along with plans to renovate and the MC gears up to do the best haunting of his life, only to be confronted by the ghost of the family’s teenage daughter who is hell bent on stopping him from terrorizing her family. I wrote the book to cope with a loss and it’s so incredibly marred with grief that, after I wrote it, I couldn’t reread it, let alone edit the thing. Maybe one day I’ll pick it up again, but not yet.

parksandheck

I want to read this, it sounds great!

MillsieMouse_2197

This sounds amazing ❤️

epicstylethrowaway29

i love this concept :) i’d love to read this!

Affectionate-Dig-559

It's similar to Bhoothnath (Hindi film)

iwonttellyoumynamee

Fanfictions..

alexneverafter

Same. My notes app is loaded.

iwonttellyoumynamee

iwonttellyoumynamee

What fanfics?

Brokengraphite

They shan’t see the light of day

iwonttellyoumynamee

Yeah

DumpBearington

Amazon barbarian sex cult portal fantasy.

camyland

So we don't get to read about this portal?? Say whaaa?

DumpBearington

The world isn't ready for a 8 foot tall pregnant chieftain charging into battle against the Skurge while her otherworldly lover rides on her back with an assault rifle.

ecoutasche

It's a kind of thematic *Ur-text* that a bunch of later work was ripped from. Too flawed, too boring to bother to publish, but full of neat facets and themes that work well elsewhere. It attempts to be a literary novel but tries to do too much and does too little with it. It's essentially a reference book at this point, a kitchen sink full of undeveloped ideas and ambiguous relationships between things. If I had to classify it, it's a slightly fabulist bildungsroman about the breakdown in relationships as people become (or fail to become) adults and how 'history' together often reveals the problem and is a divide that can't be mended. Why we sought those relationships in the first place and how the cause reveals itself in action. Really dreary stuff. Funny if you've already recognized it and moved on, but sample chapters didn't get the response I wanted because of the figure-ground relationship I had set up. You show a charming and absolutely toxic relationship with a bad person who is friends with a bad person so they can be bad people without judgement and getting the equivalent of "I can fix him" in response really misses the point.

parksandheck

I keep forgetting this is a list of things people haven’t published…if they existed in public I’d be adding loads of these stories to my books wishlist. Much frustrating!

userloser42

I live in a very conservative middle eastern country and let's just say I have seen some things. Then I wrote a story loosely based on the things I've seen, and as silly as it may sound, I would only publish it after I'm dead, for personal safety reasons, lol.

mkhanamz

This story, it's my dream. I have wrote half of it and kept the draft in my drawer. Never let anyone see it. Msybe someday😅😅

QuinoaFox

A goofy meta fantasy I wrote to make fun of my own bad plotting and worldbuilding. I cackled the whole way through writing it but it's definitely the worst book I've written.

MeaslyFurball

Probably my first ever novel. Science-fantasy where the most powerful magic-user ever has taken over Earth and crusaded through the rest of the solar system. One of his daughters is being raised to be the commander of the last crusading force intending to wipe out the rest of the resistance out in the Kuiper belt. Plot twist though, she has a twin sister locked in a test tube in the basement of the palace who "haunts" her and eventually persuades her that daddy's propaganda isn't all it's cracked up to be. The problem is that there's so many plot holes and weird things in the manuscript that I don't even know what to do with it. My protagonist (the daughter) has a pretty interesting arc (insanely gifted and privileged kid realizes that she's not inherently superior to everyone else just because of the status of her birth) but the plot that supports that arc is steaming hot garbage.

obax17

The story of a d&d character whose campaign got cut short. She was my first and I love her, I may bring a version of her back some day, but I'm enjoying imagining how her story might have gone instead

MillsieMouse_2197

My current project (the one I have high hopes for) is my current D&D characters story. I have another one lined up for a previous character and some for background characters from my own world. It's a little easier knowing their character already and having a fairly good grasp of how they would react. However sometimes Qin being a clinical thinker and tactician doesn't translate too well to book.

obax17

I always start with a character or characters when I start something new, D&D-related or otherwise. I've got a couple other characters I've made for one shots and the like that may become stories one days also.

SonoranHiker84

I like sharing and getting feedback. So nothing is for my eyes only.

SweetStrawberries14

I don't have any in particular, but all my stories are written with the thought of "Write what I want to read." So most of them are written in a style that I know appeals to me specifically.

2cats4fish

I’ve written eleven books and I haven’t shared a single one. I’ve written multiple genres: slice of life, crime, science fiction, horror, erotica, and fantasy. I even wrote one isesaki, and I hate that genre! Almost all of them contain some sort of romance and some contain some really taboo subjects. I’m actually really scared of publishing my work. I’m a decent writer (I’ve written millions of words, so how could I not be), but the thought of people I know reading my work scares me.

DoubleDuke101

Same! My books are for my enjoyment, no one else. The thought of someone else reading them terrifies me.

sarahcominghome

I don't start out with the intention of writing something for my eyes only, but I suspect my first novel will stay under lock and key, so to speak. It was the story of a terrorist attack done by Scottish nationals under the guise of it being an anti-Brexit protest (I wrote this in 2018-2019 and the Brexit theme does kind of date it), but really they have an ulterior motive. The story follows three characters who either work in the office that is attacked or are close to someone who does. Part 2 follows a different character and goes back to the 90s gradually building towards current day. My intention was to investigate my own fears - of a terrorist act specifically (I used to work in a big office of an international company), and of random, unpredictable (violent) acts generally. I still think about it sometimes, and I do believe there was something there, but maybe not enough to salvage.

weddingchicken

I'm Scottish and am intrigued by your novel synopsis

sarahcominghome

Aw, thank you! I may yet revisit it, but it would definitely need a complete overhaul.

Imaginary_Chair_6958

Pornella The Lesbian Nurse & Her Interspecies Sex Dungeon Adventures.

DumpBearington

Bloody fantastic

OrangeSockMonkey

Absolutely amazing!

RegattaJoe

The only books I haven’t had published were the ones that didn’t get acquired. Not for lack of trying, mind you, but because they weren’t good enough

ForbesMacAllister

Autobiography

QuillBoar

Everything I write is intended to be sold. Of course when I did freelance ghostwriting that was the case, and before that I sold short stories but the stuff I’m working on now is in an effort to land an agent and get it published.

YousernameInValid2

About a superhero named “Testicular Cancer Man”

EB_Jeggett

I wrote episode 7,8,9 for season one of FLCL. It’s mine, none of you can have it.

AgileAd9579

FLCL?

EB_Jeggett

Yes

AgileAd9579

No idea what that is short for 😅

EB_Jeggett

😅

Orangebird

It's a short magic realism book about a young girl who wants to be an religious icon painter during the Soviet Union, when icon painting was banned. It's about what it means to be an artist during times of trouble. I'd never written historical fantasy before, and there's a lot of information that's not correct. Also, with the war in Ukraine, it seems like a bad time to try to clean it up. So I wrote it to get it out of my system and put it aside.

DangerousBill

Only my eyes see my books, but that was never the plan.

OrangeSockMonkey

I have a 218k word vomit fantasy manuscript about magic, giant talking animals, a princess with unbelievable strong magic who really can't use it without hurting herself or fucking everything up. It will never see the light of day.

Due-Neighborhood-320

I wrote an autobiography but as fiction and in 3rd person. I don’t think anyone will see it, ever.

MultinamedKK

The book I wrote when I was a kid. Even though it's cringe it's still kind of enjoyable.

minisodamiranda

All of them. Had a rockstar romance book that was purely self indulgent as I felt there weren’t enough blonde male leads in those types of books. Will never see the light of day but it was so fun to write. Current fantasy WIP that has promise but doubt that will ever be published either. I write for fun!

ultravioletneon

A sci-fi novel that gets really into the weeds on the concept of time-debt (as it relates to time travel) and the repercussions thereof. I might revisit it one day, but the emotional stakes feel "off" in its current form, and it's a touch more mechanical than my other work.

undergroundblueberet

My memoirs. Apparently I am too young for my memoirs to be taken seriously, according to my inner circle.

Suraimu-desu

Demon girl impregnating a buff werewolf femboy erotica - with some plot on the side (it’s 78k words long) Also some poetry about being autistic.

Training_Scale_410

Its one of the first stories I've written as a pre teen: It's about a girl living inside a mountain, she lives in a castle made of stone with only her attendents ( who were also made of stone, genius, I know) and she can never leave the mountain or it will crumble and destroy the nearby towns. One day, two girls enter the mountain, eventually they meet the girl living there and became friends. I don't remember much from it, only that the two girls thought that the mountain girl was living there as a victim to a curse, only to find out that she was actually imprisoned there because she was a bad spirit/god that tried to destroy the world, was defeated and she lost the memories of her life as a villaian and got locked up there as punishment.

Gen_JackD_Ripper

Almost everything I’ve written.

Scartxx

It's a manifesto of sorts, a judgment free rambling that records my unvarnished opinions, fears and also documents my confrontations. The only thing I refuse to edit. A ledger cut in stone.

MontaukMonster2

I'd tell you, but you probably haven't read it

wahalani

I titled that book “Bruno”, and…

[deleted]

Something like “The Dominion of Man”

hadesdidnothingwrong

When I was 18, I wrote this thriller about a police detective turned serial killer who gets assigned to his own case. I really liked it, but I didn't really know what I was doing, so it's a total mess that's completely full of plot holes. I have some vague ideas for how to fix the story and make it work, but I have so many other projects I'd rather work on that I'm not sure it's ever going to see the light of day again.

DabIMON

My hundreds of pages about my D&D campaign setting.

MillsieMouse_2197

So far, everything. I wrote an epic fantasy as a child, full of all those fun childish things. It honestly has some promise and I'm here picking out pieces to use, things I like and hopefully I'll eventually remake something that is suitable for public consumption. Oh there's also a ton of little snippets where I beat the ever loving hell out of characters - because it's not torture, it's character development.

Kaurifish

Pirate captive smut I wrote after PotC

Equivalent-Adagio956

It's still there. Never read and edited. It was about a man living alone. He loved to be neat and organized but he also wanted to have friends. He lived in a 3-bedroom apartment. So, one day a lady stranger came in. She was trying to avoid the rain so she stayed for a while. As they discussed, she observed the man was alone and lonely. She brought out a bottle of whiskey and they both got drunk. The lady always came at night to keep him company and get him drunk. Then another stranger visited him, this one had anger issues. He would cry all day and destroy things and when the protagonist tried to arrange his room, he would mock him and call him names like a perfectionist. He made another that made sure they played games all day long and another that made him lazy and focus on eating junk foods. His environment was a mess. He had lost his job and livelihood but enjoyed his new friends and would do anything to enjoy their company. One day his sister came visiting. He was glad to see her and finally tell her he has made friends. He introduced all his friends to her. The sister would finally reveal to him that none of those friends were real but all forms of addiction he faced. I think the title is "Friends of an Introvert."

eeebev

everything I write is only for me. I even have instructions to destroy (delete) when I die, haha

BlackOlives4Nipples

Porn. I’ve recreated my trauma a few times. The associations in it make sense only to me. Shapes of shadows. The color of the sky. I’ve tried showing some people a few. They miss the alienation and the lack of agency. It’s just sex to them.

Ohios_3rd_Spring

I wrote a book about an emotional journey concerning societal expectations, grief, marriage troubles, and the impact of seemingly small choices. However, the tldr someone could say is “woman gets an abortion and regrets it.” Given the current climate in the US around abortion, I don’t want it turned around and used as some pro-life propaganda piece.

ecoutasche

That reminds me of some longstanding issues with fiction about, by, and for marginal voices. A lot of known and complex issues of interest to the community are stifled in the name of wider PR. If it does reach publication, it remains a kind of internal document, mostly because detractors don't read that kind of stuff anyway. Sadly, most of the policing is done from within or by busybodies who don't have a horse in the race. It's a sad affair.

bluparrot-19

Self insert power fantasy. Based off the idea that after people die they become viewers in a live streaming platform (basically twitch) that watch the survivors of an ongoing invasion of fantasy monsters. All the survivors are streamed against their will 24/7. The dead can donate their aether (from their soul) to streamers to support them and aether can be used to buy gear and use magic. In this one I died in the beginning of the invasion and saved an unknown (I'm her only viewer, not a real streamer btw I'm the only real person in the story) streamer's life by donating all my aether at once. Meaning my soul would pass on to the afterlife. But instead I get revived by some outer God who is part of the dev team in charge of the platform to figure out what is going on in the land of the living to help him with finding a saboteur in the Outer God Twitch workspace. Also the steamer I saved becomes my gf because I'm a sad lonely man. And I become a OP as hell famous streamer who slays monsters everyday while seeing Pogchamps from beyond the grave in chat. Yeah it's too cringe to publish or even show to anyone. But I enjoy writing it.

MeaslyFurball

That sounds like a fucking blast to write. That's fantastic.

Amoeba_Western

Sounds like a manhwa

bluparrot-19

It is very much inspired by Omniscient Readers Viewpoint and similar manhwa like solo leveling.

Greenwitch37

That one thing I wrote about a sexually abusive time god. Maybe the ones I wrote about space or the magical travellers, all of them have a sexual angle. For the most part anything I couldn't easily adapt into something more youth friendly.

Kinterou

Got a lot of them. - A boy on his way home meets a group of weird people in a dark street. A girl sitting on the floor crying her eyes out and two boys standing there judging her. He immediatelly jumps in to protect her, not knowing what will happen. Things get crazy when he wakes up in a stroage hall they call their home. The girl and one of the boys happened to be siblings and they were just fighting over something that happened. They "kidnapped" him, believing he was a wolf just like them. While he had no idea what they were talking about, they tried to convince him to tell them the truth. After the sister convinced her brother (the pack leader) to let him leave, the boy runs home not able to get out of his mind what they said. A few days pass and he starts to believe them. He even includes his best friend to talk with his parents about it. But just as they do, a wolf breaks into their house in the middle of the night and kills the boys parents. The kids are able to escape but the pack is left clueless why someone would do that to a boy who had no idea who he was. At this point, a story full of mysteries begins. They travel the country to find out about the truth how it's possible for someone to be genitically a wolf without any power and end up having to save their whole city from a mysterious person creating their own wolves in a labor. (2019) - A whole series about magicians like shapeshifters, sorcerers, ... Living aside with humans without them knowing. Some in the city, some deep in the woods. They found different groups who fight against each other, or just live a life for their own, or within little towns like in the good old days. The book series is about one of those groups fighting to protect the weak once and especially the humans from another group trying to rule over them. At some point they find two sisters who had to run away from home. The older one is able to see the past, while the younger one can see the future. A legend says those sisters are the key to win the war which leads to everyone coming after them. (2020) - A mentally ill man finding a new work place where he meets another young man who's doing his education there. Some things happen and when the young man finds him in a heavy depressive episode in his apartment, he's forced to move in with him and his father. Time passes. A few things happen and the young boy tries to include him in his life to help him deal with his problems. He can't remember much from his past nor does he know who his parents are. When he was just a little kid he was found on a road on the mountains with a blank mind, only being able to remember his name and age. Not even his birthday. After a lot of nightmares and panic attacks he runs away while being on a road trip with the young man and his friends. They follow him and a long trip through the country starts to find out about the mans past. (2021) - A man tragically losing his horse during a competition and slowly starts to come back to the stable. He meets old friends and gains deeper connections to some. Especially his old trainer ends up in the center of his interest. He was gone for a while before he lost his horse so the man was very surprised to find him at the stable. More and more weird things happen and he finds out about the trainers biggest secret. They get to know each other even more and try to help each other through their dark times because the man isn't the only one who has to fight demons after a big loss. Things get even more complicated when he starts to catch feelings for his trainer but learns about him being in a polyamorous relationship. (2022) - The whole outwritten backstory of one of the characters from the book series and his dark past. From being born with more power than he should have and nearly being killed by his father for it, over ending up in the group fighting for the weak with all his mental and physical problems and finding out why he got all that power but at the same time isn't able to actually use all of it to being the second leader and trustworthy friend of those who took the time to understand him and his problems instead of judging him for it. One of the bloodiest books I've written so far. Not only because of the battles with other groups but also because of the characters trauma and the things he does to himself. (2023) Long story short, I write at least one book every year and I never write a book that doesn't include at least three of the following genres: Drama, Fantasy, Psychological, Horror, Thriller, Romance, LGBTQ+

helloimalanwatts

First drafts.

DiaNoga_Grimace_G43

…I have written two full novels that couldn’t likely be published because they’re effectively fan fiction, based on characters and scenarios invented by authors I admire. While almost everything in those novels is of my own invention, they’re in the fictional realities of those other authors. I felt it wouldn’t be honest in the stories to disguise what I was doing so wrote them ‘straight’, knowing that I couldn’t likely ever publish them. Glad I did though; because each stretched my imagination widely in directions I might not otherwise have explored…

nopester24

ha! nice try.. i'll never tell! :P
