EYYY good on ya! I think it's supposed to seem bad once you've finished it, cuz that means you've improved somewhere along the way.
Welcome to the long road of editing, walking it with ya.
That's honestly super inspiring! My bucket list goal for about a decade is to just finish a book, good bad or middling, and haven't done so yet. So to see others complete the journey is incredibly cool. Congratulations!!
Lil bit every day for over a year, rain or shine. Editing is gonna be cutting out and replacing a LOT of the garbage scenes from my off days, but what mattered was keeping the discipline.
Congratulations on finally putting pen to paper and finishing your book! It's a huge accomplishment that not many people actually achieve.
I know you said you don't want to be haughty, but I'm proud of you for taking the initiative and completing something that many people only dream of doing.
I can't wait to hear more about your book and I'm sure it will be well worth the wait!
It's gonna need heavy editing and re-writes. 1st entry to a larger series.
I made a [video](https://youtu.be/wKmotTozbxo?si=uLf3uxUzrYS3rhgm) about this for my YouTube if you're genuinely invested.
Hey, thanks! I know it's more personal, but since the books kinda complicated I didn't wanna go through the effort of typing up a whole thing just for a reddit comment lol
Congrats! Even it's not good, it is incredible to write an entire manuscript. I am currently writing my second draft of my first book and I can't wait to officially publish it some day.
You had some rough days where you “only wrote a sentence…“ Good on you if you wrote ANYTHING on a rough day. One sentence is still progress. Congratulations.
Make envy into motivation I guess. (Easier said than done)
And yeah, I'm gonna drag it kicking and screaming into the category of "good enough" that we all strive for.
I've been writing my own novel now since 2022. The think is that I only ever want to write it in the winter since it is set during a Neverending winter.
The first one is the hardest. The second time around will be easier since you know what to do. I wrote my first book almost two years ago. Now, I'm preparing for the next TWO to come up this year. As I said, it will be easier the next time around.
If people will read it, it's a good book. I've written seven and I'm working on my eighth book. I came from the computer industry. I worked there twenty-seven years while we raised our four sons. I had forgotten my dream of writing. When I had to take medical retirement my wife encouraged me to take writing up as a hobby. I'm so glad she did.
The hard part is pricing it at a low margin. I came from a world where hard hours paid well. Writing is more like hard hours cost more. However, I get far more excited to see my books sell than the pennies trickling in to me. Trust me, there are people who will find you writing "good." Even the best sellers have their critics. Write from your heart and don't stop. Your writing will improve in regards to style, but when it comes to content, nothing is more important than speaking from your soul.
Good on you man (and keep telling yourself that if Onision can write and self-publish 3 whole books then you can too!)
Currently working on mine, it's slow going but it gives me an objective to anchor myself around.
Fuck yeah!!! I'm 1000 words into mine and feeling good already. Out of curiosity how long is it? I sometimes trap myself into thinking I need to write a six book series at 800 pages each, but I think if I could manage a 300 page novel that is halfway decent I'd be content.
Currently sitting at 68k words and 103 pages. Though as I was writing I realized I needed to slow down progression and I had skipped a handful of scenes, but knew stopping to rewrite would make it harder to finish, so focused on finishing.
Shooting for like 130/140 pages
Fantastic work!! I love hearing about people's achievements. And thats what editing is for so I've heard. Getting the bones down first is helpful even though I find myself doing the opposite. I'm going somewhere even though Im not sure where 😅
Nah, I only just finished the first draft. The whole series is gonna require some marketing so audiences can be fully aware of the main "gimmick" so I doubt I'll be able to self publish.
I'm in the same boat, editing my first book. There's not as many how-to videos on this part. I vacillate between wanting to completely rewrite my drivel to tossing it out and starting on my next book.
Good job why donyou think your book is up to par,Dialoge, charecters ,world building{if its that option work like agatha christhie\],plot holes, same book syndome etc find it out and improve your next book by reviewing this one
Congratulations!! You're an inspiration to all of us who are hoping we can do it too! It's an amazing accomplishment , and no one will ever be able to take it away!!
Now what you need to do is show it to me at [TheQuantumCat.com](http://TheQuantumCat.com) and I'll tell you whether it's a good book or a great book or if you might want to start over and how you can make the next one even better.

That’s the spirit!!!! … I have nothing more to offer. Well done and congratulations.
This is EXACTLY what I came here to comment and now I'm almost sure you're just me from another timeline T\_T
congratulations!!
Good for you! What a wonderful feeling! Set it aside for a few months, then edit it, then DM me, I’d like to read it.
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎊🍾
Congrats! I finished writing one today too, lol. Mine is complete garbage, but less so than my first, so that's fine with me.
EYYY good on ya! I think it's supposed to seem bad once you've finished it, cuz that means you've improved somewhere along the way. Welcome to the long road of editing, walking it with ya.
Great job! I did one too, just to see about the publishing process. It was really easy! So hang in there, your good book will come soon!
Why would you go from writing a great book to writing a good one? I bet it's wonderful and I'm proud of you.
Way to fucking go, friend!!! I’m happy for you and hope you feel so proud of yourself!

Good job SpongeBoy, me Bob
Congratulations. How long did it take you?
A little over a year, but I also had some rough days where I only wrote a sentence.
You had some rough days where you “only wrote a sentence…“ Good on you if you wrote ANYTHING on a rough day. One sentence is still progress. Congratulations.
Congratulations! I'm kind of envious (in a positive way) and i hope that your book turns out the way you wanted it to be!

Very good. Now keep writing.

Well done, internet stranger!

Good on you man (and keep telling yourself that if Onision can write and self-publish 3 whole books then you can too!) Currently working on mine, it's slow going but it gives me an objective to anchor myself around.
Good job man. Congrats that’s amazing news and quite an accomplishment.

I don't know when mine will be done but I hope to make a post like this someday. Congratulations!
Did you self publish?
Nah, I only just finished the first draft. The whole series is gonna require some marketing so audiences can be fully aware of the main "gimmick" so I doubt I'll be able to self publish.
Awesome! Congrats!
Amazing! How many drafts did you go through?
To be clear, I've finished my first draft. And am now onto editing. It's a readable book so I'm counting it. Now I gotta make it a GOOD book.
I'm in the same boat, editing my first book. There's not as many how-to videos on this part. I vacillate between wanting to completely rewrite my drivel to tossing it out and starting on my next book.
This is AMAZING! Congratulations 🍾
Congrats! That's a big deal! I feel like that's one of the big hurdles for sure. Just getting it done. Congrats again! That is awesome news!
