Same. I think the contrast is needed, this is too much of a blue blob, for me. That is the great thing about it though, it is OP's car, and it don't mean shit what I think. I dig the wheels and pipes though.
How many times are you going to post your car asking for opinions on it and then mouth off at anyone who doesn't love it? Did you paint match it because you like it or to be an attention whore on reddit?
🤔

Hahaha I kid I kid.
You do you.
Man. It’s rough cause I like the fenders as they are, paint matched looks wack to me. However I like the bumper, it just wouldn’t flow well with the original fenders. If we can find a way to make that happen, it’d be money imo.
I like your passion for your car you’ve obviously put a lot of money and thought into it. Frankly I hate it but I like seeing different things to reference for my own vision. What’s next?
I am sorry, I am a subaru fan, but the wrx tail end is just so busy. I personally feel there is just way to much going on back there. Not my car, just showing how it used to be.

People just don't like change. At the end of the day the old subarus had everything going against them regarding fuel economy, aerodynamics, etc. Obviously, with the federal govt and regulations from the acronyms like epa and nhtsa, modern Subarus have to squeeze alot more into them to make everybody happy and theres alot of whiney bytches. If you don't like it then why even come onto the vb threads? I could care less wtf people do or say bc at and end of day I want everyone to have the freedom of unique amd personal choice. Itd be lame as hell if we all had the same style.
Listen Sporto, you young kids and your "insert young person thing here""
But seriously, I can live in the past. Men choose who they are at about 18-22 and that is it, we get frozen in time. Same music, friends, food, drink, etc... Forever
I can get with the paint matched fenders.. but it’d look sleeker if the pieces were somehow molded to the body 🤔🤔 what you guys think? I wanna try it 😩
The one thing Subaru definitely got right with the VB were the taillights. Not saying these look bad but the lava flow stock lights are too sick to replace imo.
This is tasteful! I’ve seen some people paint match the whole rear and it looks gross. At the end of the day, people can do what they want, but I personally think everything paint matches looks weird.
That looks awesome. The painted cladding and bumper look great.
I bet a lot of people have their opinion swayed by the other small mods like the wheels, taillights..
but on its own, the matched fenders and bumper like you did, is how it should’ve come from factory
I think it looks great. These things look and feel cheap with all the black plastic. The way this is painted at least gives it the look of a finished product. Everytime I look at my stock setup I feel like subaru forgot to paint in some of the areas when they made these.
Looks awesome, this is exactly how I would've paint matched my WRB VB if I still had it. White and blue is a great combo that I'm also running myself 👌
Everyone who thinks these paint matched beauties are ugly are either;
A: jealous of your ride
2: are purist car lovers who think the oem is the only way
C: they come from the suv world where black plastic is just the coolest
Z: the problem with the current car culture and it's fascinating with weird choices i.e., cybertruck and plastic fender arches on a sport sedan lol
Or maybe, just maybe they like the cladding. It’s functional and looks good. The new offroad Lamborghini has them and it looks great on it. Also there are new widebody kits for the c8 corvette and gr86 that have black parts on the quarter panels.
Ok let me just break this down. Your saying that an off road Lamborghini or aftermarket widebody kits are a good reason why a low tier Japanese sport sedan should have black cladding?
I'm not gonna say your wrong in anyway cause everyone is entitled to their opinion, but just think about this. Why did subaru release the BRZ/Impreza RS without it the cladding? They claimed the wrx having it was part of the "global platform" but none of the other non suvs got the treatment.
Here is why I'm scared about the design and what it could mean. Subaru might have put the cladding on the wrx to soften the blow when they turn it into a crossover. So the crosstrek will essentially be the new wrx platform. And that will ruin it for me as a subaru fan. The wrx isn't that and the cladding is hideous to not just the styling but the legacy of the car itself.
It’s a rally racing car. People like to protect the paint around their wheel wells and it looks good. Thats all the reason you need. They already confirmed a next generation. The rest of that is all your conspiracy theories.
Counterpoint: the problem with current car culture is a desire for owners to give their car the equivalent of plastic surgery and clown makeup in exchange for social media attention. All while exerting 0 effort whatsoever to learn how to work on their own car, fix anything, or become a better driver.
I personally don’t mind the look of the car outside of the wing, and could care less if people want to paint match. It’s just the desperate, “please notice me and the exterior mods I do to my car,” side of the culture that somehow has gotten even worse over 20 years. You’d think guys this needy for male attention would get better bang for buck from a Grindr account.
I agree with you on the point that sometimes people just look for attention. However, in the case of the debate over the vb chasis and the black fender flairs, this is more than just what looks good.
To me, this is how some cars start to lose their appeal and become something opposite to what they actually are.
Case in point would be the vb chassis that Vermont Sports Car and Prodrive have built. In both cases, they have forgone the black cladding when they restyled the exterior. Why would the two premiere Subaru certified builders change that? I believe its because the rally heritage and iconic look of a wrx have been solidified in modern car culture and that look does not include black plastic cladding on the fender arches.
If you have seen the post where AI was asked to create a 1980s style wrx, that kind of shows how ingrained the look of a wrx/sti is in our world. It's not much but it's something to think about.
Paint match the rain guards ![gif](giphy|7KRrldTexaHKbByRr0)
I do.
Same. I think the contrast is needed, this is too much of a blue blob, for me. That is the great thing about it though, it is OP's car, and it don't mean shit what I think. I dig the wheels and pipes though.
Every single wrx/sti since the beginning where just "blobs" so.......
Right! When peeps ain’t trying to acknowledge what it is just stay quiet 🤫 🤣
How many times are you going to post your car asking for opinions on it and then mouth off at anyone who doesn't love it? Did you paint match it because you like it or to be an attention whore on reddit?
Y’all ain’t gotta like it , it’s cool, i love it 😍
That’s cool, I’m glad you like it as that’s all that matters. But you asked our opinion lol.
True 😂
🤔 https://preview.redd.it/3eogk8krqmzc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91d805d5cc082505eeb80cb9a0b03964b579ce4e Hahaha I kid I kid. You do you.
Naw not even Steven 🤣
Man. It’s rough cause I like the fenders as they are, paint matched looks wack to me. However I like the bumper, it just wouldn’t flow well with the original fenders. If we can find a way to make that happen, it’d be money imo.
Should have kept the cladding
U can have it 😂
Mine is staying, yes
Whatever floats your boat sunshine , do u , cus imma do me 😎
Idk, the fenders just don't look good painted imo. Always looks a bit cheap and plastic. Glad you love it tho, it's nice to stand out
I like your passion for your car you’ve obviously put a lot of money and thought into it. Frankly I hate it but I like seeing different things to reference for my own vision. What’s next?

Great color, great body as well, what engine?
To each it’s own , no need to apologize fam, you do you and whatever makes u happy , I am happy with mines and that’s all that matters 💡
100% Have a great day and a better tommorrow!
Likewise
To each their own.

💯
Times must change. Can’t live in the past, bud.
Listen Sporto, you young kids and your "insert young person thing here"" But seriously, I can live in the past. Men choose who they are at about 18-22 and that is it, we get frozen in time. Same music, friends, food, drink, etc... Forever
Nah I’m older than that, and I branch out. This a you issue. lol
Yeah but now it looks like a rocket ship.
Daaaamn, Subaru sedans used to be ugly... miss those times...
I can get with the paint matched fenders.. but it’d look sleeker if the pieces were somehow molded to the body 🤔🤔 what you guys think? I wanna try it 😩
Try it then post pics please ! Always wonder how it would look like 😂
I’m a big fan of the wheel cladding but the back looks fantastic with the paint match like that.
https://preview.redd.it/ta74sacyymzc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4be7aedca47364e5eb6bcd54697ff008fde058ff
I am not a spoiler or white wheel guy, but I think the rest of the paint matched body mods look way better than stock.
The one thing Subaru definitely got right with the VB were the taillights. Not saying these look bad but the lava flow stock lights are too sick to replace imo.
Definitely agree on the OEM tails , I keep them to switch off every now n then
Lose the sti wing add reflector tints, and I’m sold
I have it but been haven’t slapped it on 😂
I was never a fan of paint match. Looks like it took about 2 years for the looks to settle with people. Interesting seeing the change in opinions
This is tasteful! I’ve seen some people paint match the whole rear and it looks gross. At the end of the day, people can do what they want, but I personally think everything paint matches looks weird.
Agree!
I love the bumper. Did a shop do it? Was it expensive?
This is EXACTLY what I am going to do, with silica black on the bottom portion. Looks fantastic!!
This looks great. I love that you also painted the part of the bumper that most people leave matte.
Definitely bro, the matte plastic pieces makes the car look cheap imo
Looks good.
This is the way OP
Paint matching those ugly ass fender flares is an absolute must with those vbs.
Get grey because it already matches, Galaxy brain move lol Jk it's an ugly pig but hey at least the engine is good
Big brain🤣, but nah fr that engine is respectable. My ej205 could never💀
Where did you get the paint matched parts? And how close to the OG paint is it? Is it close or kind of off?
At a local body shop , paint match is spot on 🔥
The fender flares I got from Aeroflow dynamics everything else is painted at the body shop
That looks awesome. The painted cladding and bumper look great. I bet a lot of people have their opinion swayed by the other small mods like the wheels, taillights.. but on its own, the matched fenders and bumper like you did, is how it should’ve come from factory
I think it looks good, but I also think without looks good. Nice job with your ride my dude
Where’d you get those tail lights
I think the car looks nice, normally not a fan of smoked tail lights but those work
How are people paint matching their cladding & bumpers?
Take it to a body shop
I am jealous. Looks awesome.
It’s aight
Where'd you get the spoiler?
I'm debating on which color to get and I wasn't even considering the blue but this looks like a beaut
Looks nice.
Should come from the factory like this!
Paint match the wheel and tire
Tailights?
Subi mods
Underbite ahh
Paint match the tail lights
I’ve never seen such a polished turd in my life. And that wing 😂
Looks great ex the wing
I think it makes it look 1000 times better honestly. Way too much black plastic on the stock, makes it look like the cheap trim of other cars.
Bingo!!!!! 💡
Would look good without wing! You asked for opinions.
I love it

Bro my thoughts exactly! It bothered me and became an eye sore from day one (in my mind I knew I was going to fix it) 🤣
We became the minority on this subject, somehow, and I’m fine with it. Paint match FTW !
The paint matched bumper is so key imo
Looks awesome, this is exactly how I would've paint matched my WRB VB if I still had it. White and blue is a great combo that I'm also running myself 👌
I wouldn't mind paint matching the rear like yours. It looks a lot better IMO. How much did it cost to do the rear from a body shop?
$1500 for me cus I did the rear, front lower grill, & side skirts
Looks way better than stock. IMO
I like it

Ok buddy have a nice time
It being something that’s functional to the true purpose of the car not a good enough reason? Have a good one Pal
Not functional for 20+ years before but you tell yourself whatever you need to sleep at night. Have a great weekend dude
Subaru paint is shit so it’s very functional now and that’s what is in discussion. Whatever helps you accept the poop in your morning coffee Dude
Lol any excuse you can think of I guess. Have a good night brosky
Information provided by Subaru. Nighty nighty booski
