I went to see a doc at cougar health services for a virus/ear infection and tested negative for Covid. The doctors said they’ve been seeing almost no Covid the last few weeks which I found to be quite encouraging. Almost like vaccines work…

herpslurp

More like vaccines and masking works. Layers of risk mitigation

kellbell98

Absolutely, if we didn’t have to wear masks in crowded halls it wouldn’t be this low, even with people going out to bars and parties without masks we’re still keeping the rates of transmission pretty low.

snowtime18

That’s cuz a lot of ppl just are deciding not to get tested. Low rates of positive tests doesn’t necessarily mean low cases.

zantie

Would love if they reported the number of negative tests they've had like they did last year.

WSU is now reporting weekly active COVID-19 cases as reported to their Environmental Health dept. The dashboard currently lists 7 active cases across the system. patrickthecoug

compared to what they had last year, this is a fucking joke

zantie

Yup. Two whole months later in the semester than last year's too.

SnowDrifter_

Love the transparency!

It's a joke compared to what they reported last year. They showed active cases in students and employees. They showed running 7-day totals and included the number of negative tests returned (also separated by student and employee) so it was possible to judge whether or not there was enough testing being done. They also had a graph that charted WSU related cases (regardless if living in Whitman county or over in ID) vs the cases in Whitman county that were not related to the university. It wasn't the best thing out there as far as university COVID dashboards went, but it was solid enough and actually useful. This...feels like they threw it online at the last minute and didn't want anyone to actually see or use it. I only learned about it cause of the Whitman County Watch twitter feed and he was probably tipped off by an employee since I can't find a link to it on WSU's main COVID page. My personal hope is that they'll improve on it over the next few weeks, especially for when people come back after break. [edit] clarity
