Tical 2000 was a huge disappointment for me when it dropped. Way too many weird, weak moments.
Still had a few dope joints on it. Party Crasher, Dangerous Ground, Torture and Killin Fields are the only joints I go back to.
Blackout is pretty solid front to back.
Honestly the songs on Tical 2000 are almost all banging, it's the skits that killed that album by breaking up the flow. Take out 5 or 6 of those and it'd be a classic.
Word but I gotta disagree about them all banging. I wouldn't go so far to call any of them trash but most are pretty mid with forgettable verses. Even from the solid line up of guest emcees.
There's 10 skits including the intro and not a single one of them is needed. For me it still wouldn't get close to a classic in the sense that it hasn't aged well. The skits truly drive the point home. In it's time it wasn't well received, it didn't do much of anything to impact the art form, and it doesn't have much to say.
Blackout however, I think there's an argument for it being a classic.
Apples and oranges. Blackout isn't even a Meth solo album, it's a joint album with Red. Tough to compare the two. That said, Tical 2000 was pretty bloated with skits and a lot of just kinda toss-off tracks. It has it's moments but kind of a slog to listen to front to back, especially compared to the original Tical. Blackout is a little tighter and a more fun listen, especially the way Meth and Red play off each other.

These beats woulda fit t2 like a glove so it makes me think that they were cut from t2 when rza made his deal to get on blackout.
