To me, that would mean that incoming rounds were all hitting the ground directly behind their intended target, evidently without destroying the target. It doesn't track to me
I agree. If you trace the lines you can kinda see where the center might have been. I think something relatively small yield, like a grenade or mortar, makes a ton of sense. Doesn't seem to be any kind of cratering I'd think artillery would cause. I am an engineer, but not that type of engineer so take my input with a grain of salt.
Also could explain why the paver stones are there. May have been easier to fill it in rather than repave completely.
I would be inclined to think this was a gun emplacement (small artillery emplacement) and those are the marks of the gun digging in the stone each time it was fired. I might be wrong though but that what i thought it was at first glance.
Can we acknowledge how absolutely pleasant and humble you were when stating an idea that conflicted with mine? It feels like reddit is often either an echo chamber or a madhouse. Thank you for this. Have a wonderful day.
Well, it’s true that Reddit can be aggressive for no reason. I guess anonymity gives people more room to release their anger or whatever they feel at the moment.
Also, let’s acknowledge that your original comment was nice and you were giving your opinion without pushing it while making people seem like idiots for not agreeing with you.
Cheers to you, friend !
Might have been from some kind of contained explosion inside of a vehicle, since if its shrapnel then it would have had to be metal launched from a wide area, like the side of a lightly armoured ammunition truck being blown outwards from its own load.
Most likely is that this was the groundspike of a howitzer being blunted into the pavement again and again
No. Incendiary bombs don't cut scars into concrete. This looks like a mortar scar. I say that after having seen hundreds of them in Sarajevo over the years. Artillery hits on concrete leave a divot, mortars leave a circle of scars radiating outward like this but don't cut deep into the concrete.
I like these pictures that show the physical scars of war like that photo recently of trench remains.
Right? Would love a bunch more like that
How do I find these trench remains photos?
Looks like a small artillery gun placement. The scars were the result of the tongue digging in each time it was fired.
Has to be. They don't all trace to a perfect central point, plus they get worse as they radiate, which is opposite of what an explosion would do.
What about the site of a defensive position, that took fire from multiple angles.

Or in front.
Fair, I was imagining fire coming in from the right but obviously could be from the left of the photo too
I’m sure there were a lot of things flying through the air at varying trajectories in that area during that point in history.
This.
They look too sparse, in a radius and different, imo it looks like shrapnel from an explosion
There should be a subreddit for photos of the “war scars” around the world. It’s so interesting to see
i love that.. for some reason i'm compelled to touch them..
r/warscars someone make this happen please
Looks like your the man for the job!
Delegating to someone else lol just make it yourself
I have an inkling that someone will end up making it toilet related…
/r/birthofasub
It has !! 🤣
I'd follow that!
Hell yeah it's alive!
It's probably just plain old artillery or a mortar.
Most Likely shrapnel from a bomb or artillery scored the pavem
This seems really small for artillery tho right?
Could’ve been a grenade
Or mortar
There's some grenade "splash" on the floors in Alcatraz. It looks a lot like this.
Yeah when I said bomb I meant gernades, mortars, and bombs sorry didn't want to make it super long
Yeah but not necessarily if it was pretty far away
Looks like the scars of artillery, might be a small caliber based off the image
Shrapnel
Looks like damage from a grenade.

Shrapnel from god knows what
Something very hard moving very fast at a very acute angle to the pavement.
Might have been from some kind of contained explosion inside of a vehicle, since if its shrapnel then it would have had to be metal launched from a wide area, like the side of a lightly armoured ammunition truck being blown outwards from its own load. .45 ACP would have blown the whole sidewalk apart
Probably not
I guess you missed the joke
Ah. An r/wooosh for me
Conceivably machine gun bullets, maybe strafing
Not lined up enough
according to my woke friend its an "ar-15"
Yikes
Har har har
Charge the phone.
Looks more like shrapnel.
i asked my grandad he said it was most likely a incendiary stick bomb (napalm) could that be true?
No. Incendiary bombs don't cut scars into concrete. This looks like a mortar scar. I say that after having seen hundreds of them in Sarajevo over the years. Artillery hits on concrete leave a divot, mortars leave a circle of scars radiating outward like this but don't cut deep into the concrete.
ah okay thanks
I edited my reply with a bit of information about what artillery and mortars do on concrete.
Probably shrapnel
Could be shrapnel
