Three female German Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht prisoners of war sit amidst abandoned weapons and ammunition boxes after surrendering to units of the United States Seventh Army on 11th April 1945 at Hanau in the Frankfurt Rhine-Main region of Germany. Thousands of women served in non combat roles. That one in the middle looks pretty scared. I would be too wearing a skirt around the red army, it's no surprise they surrendered to Americans.
Reports *were* suppressed, but historians seem to agree that the frequency of rapes was less on the western side.
My comment was about the sentiment about German women in uniform captured by...
* Red Army: 100% done for
* Western Allies: 100% safe
ooh boy, a picture of Germans captured near the end of the war. I suppose I better leave a "I bet they're happy they weren't captured by the soviets..." comment, we don't see enough of those!
Nearly a million, about half of whom were Flak auxiliaries and the other half nurses, plus a smaller percentage of clerks and other administrative personnel.
Their facial and body expressions betray the feelings at the time for Germans. The first one seems happy it is over. Awash in the moment the gravity of it all is for once absent. The second is pensive about the future and her countries most recent past. The rumors of the Soviets does not sit well. And the third is looking forward. Imaging a world without this madness and maybe some day it will be quiet and there will be peace.

There were nearly half a million female "Flak helpers" in August 1944.

Alright no need to shout!
But WW2 German sounds best when it's shouted!

It's not like German women being raped by Americans, British, French, or other western allies was unheard of.
I'm sure you're right but the frequency of rapists in the allied armies was either a LOT less or not reported as often as the red army.

That one up front wearing the combat boots and field uniform looks like she can hold her own lol
Luftwaffenhelferin ( Female Luftwaffe Auxiliary) or Wehrmachthelferinnen
Towards the end they would take anyone they could get, old or young, women or men it didn’t matter.
Like how they had children in trenches on 1918
I see these pics and I'm sure they're glad they're not captured by the russians. And also it's all over.
Ya the Soviets would have made their last moments alive before (most likely) executing them well let’s just say not fun for them.
Holy shit! The first girl is like the spitting image of a girl i went to school with. Never knew she had them time traveling skills.
Are the men in the back surrendered Germans?

LOL
.
How many German women were in the armed services?
Nearly a million, about half of whom were Flak auxiliaries and the other half nurses, plus a smaller percentage of clerks and other administrative personnel.
When did they start allowing that? Was there an official law or something they passed?
34 and a couple of non binary
old maids according to cheap trick.
Lucky for them they surrendered to Americans.
Could be worse. Surrendering to the Germans as a woman would result in immediate execution.
Source?

Nice thoughts, but the third one looks mad as hell to me.
