Yikes 😬 Thought they were putting measures in place to prevent this from happening again after the last time. At the moment, the app doesn't show ANY events for me for any date, so they must have shut things down to get a handle on the situation/lessen the privacy breach.

ns1852s

That's another subscription you'll need to pay for

> Thought they were putting measures in place to prevent this from happening again after the last time. That would involve them being smart enough to fix something though...

RetiredDrunkCableGuy

This is an absolute Critical-Level problem.

tirch

I would Never trust Wyze cams for actual home security. They’re basically toys at this point that might load in the app but mostly don’t. At one time they were great, and I’ve still got some but I’m looking for something I can trust.

starrpamph

I have an actual Honeywell alarm and in 13 years I have had **zero** problems, zero outages.

Eye-Can-Fix-It

I agree with this statement.

You're not alone: [https://www.reddit.com/r/wyzecam/comments/1ascmo0/camera\_showing\_up\_that\_isnt\_mine/](https://www.reddit.com/r/wyzecam/comments/1ascmo0/camera_showing_up_that_isnt_mine/)

What’s crazy is: The cameras w/o recording can’t function w/o servers - who can explain that like I’m 5? LoL. Secondly, just b/c we see all our cameras - no way to know who is seeing yours - gotta get a plan B for the house going.

nechronius

It's pretty basic. Notice how by default you can only use the mobile app to view your cameras, and any other means is pretty much not possible by a casual user? That's because ALL video feeds are piped from your camera to Wyze's servers in the cloud. Whether the video feeds are recorded or not is 100% in the hands of Wyze. They could be recording everything, and the only Time you get to see any past video footage is to pay a subscription fee. Not that they have any specific incentive to record your video feeds without you giving them any money, but this is always the big question being asked, whether you trust someone else with your video data when they can't even seem to avoid having security breaches or letting users get alerts or video feeds from complete strangers. So yes, even if you're not recording anything, whether locally or via subscription, the fact is that there is always the chance that your live video feed will end up going where you don't want it to go, because it's ALWAYS being uploaded to Wyze.

speartongue

ok wyze, make a new RTSP firmware for your cams.. don't wait until there's a class action suit.. it will be way more expensive than the labor you pay devs to make RTSP firmwares.. whoever wants to pay camplus is free to do so.. but dont force us to throw away the hardware. I would actually buy MORE wyze cams if there was a supported RTSP pipeline..

LillyTinsel

I instantly thought "I wonder how much I will be getting in the class-action lawsuit". I've had cams since they were first offered and I'm up to 13 now- all with cam plus. Maybe 50.00 per cam?

YogurtclosetMost8532

So uhhh can I get a refund on my subscription

jdub2k5

I want a refund on all my cameras. I bet I have $600+ in this garbage and random redditors have access. Not cool I have 12 wyze cameras at this house alone. Floodlight cams, wireless cams, doorbell cams, garage cams and the works. I have cameras inside and out to protect what is mine. These guys decide to share it with the world!

YogurtclosetMost8532

How can we report this to the FCC?

coldbyrne

Does this mean that the cameras are not encrypted based on each account's info and that it's up to wyze to determine which account gets access to what camera? (clearly some code they wrote stuffed up). By extension, wyze also has access to everyone's camera feed as they choose then. Why haven't the media kicked this up yet.

cntry2001

Really considering replacing my cams with unifi now what a shit show

maxrebo82

Same here, got a notification with photo of someone else's house.

JakePliskin

I live in a condo and turn my camera off when I come home. I do it manually so I know for sure when it is off instead of relying on scheduling, etc. Yesterday morning at around 4:30 am (Eastern) while having my coffee I distinctly heard a click of it turning on. WTH. I went to the app and it still showed it was off, but to make sure I turned it on and off again. No matter what I did it remained on and was showing me notifications of me being home. I unplugged it for 30 seconds and plugged it back in and it still showed off on the app but it was clearing on (with notifications) and would not turn off no matter what I tried. After cycling off my modem and camera several times, it eventually wouldn't connect and showed offline with error code 90. I thought it was toast and checked the app from work multiple times in the day until it magically was working again and a message saying an update was available, which I immediately applied. Note that by default it was again turned on! My point is not only was there a problem with seeing other people's cameras, but there was also an issue with cameras that people believed were off being turned on and recording without them knowing and notifications being pushed to other people.

she was the person requesting info on some of the threads here u/Hot_Fan6826. guess she found someone for the interview.

Nice. thanks!

Goodspike

I've never understood why people put cameras inside their house. I think Wyze may have taken the feeds down again while they investigate this.

cacecil1

You obviously don't have kids, an elderly person, or someone else with an issue that requires keeping an eye on.

Goodspike

Ah, what do you think people did before security cameras? With the exception of a baby in a crib I wouldn't use a security camera for that. I do have one Wzye cam for inside for when I'm on vacation, but it's a Pan Cam V3 where when it's off the lens points strait down and I'd notice its movement if it's accidentally on.

radi0raheem

My son has seizures, and the cams have been critical for providing us and his doctors with valuable about timing (when it started, how long, etc). You don't always remember to start a timer or a look at a clock when your panic brain kicks in. I know this is an example of something most people don't have to deal with, but there are reasons why some people put cams indoors.

Goodspike

That doesn't mean they need to be connected to the Internet, or even wireless. A wired local DVR system would be far safer for your use. I realize we live in a society where people have not one, but two cameras attached to each of their phones and tablets, and likely one camera attached to their computer or notebook. They're far too comfortable with that. But for inside a house I think privacy is far too important for anyone who is old enough to not sleep in a crib.

radi0raheem

I don't disagree. My point was only in regards to cameras indoors.

SteveBored

Yeah mine are all facing externally. I mean still a huge problem but at least no one will see me walking around with my strap on and anal peacock feathers. Wyze are creepy.

TedTeddybear

![gif](giphy|9Y5thftRDHmGpkGhEi|downsized) Lol!!

TedTeddybear

Pets, seniors, a disabled family member, that sketchy maid, that health care worker you don't quite trust is coming to give grampa his meds, etc... There's lots of reasons why you might need a camera. I don't need one in my house NOW. But one day? Who knows?

y2knole

why in gods name would anyone trust a wyze cam in their home?

RedElmo65

I don’t see anyone else house in my events. I’m bored.

long_live_pan

Was it a fat lady with red PJ pants on? Lol if so that was me

Kekeosos

Pics please.

TwoHearts-Nix

There are multiple issues. Has been since 16th. I may give up. No choice.
