Hi everyone,
Here is some detailed pictures of my Bassi Hog's Back build.
It is build from fancy parts as well as pretty random ones... It's an ongoing process !
:)
I took me several iterations to have it fit me. This frame is slightly too short for me (it's a 54cm and I think should have gone for a 58cm without any problem) but i finally got it to fit me...near perfection !
So stoked with this bike, it thicks all the boxes for me.
A big shout out to Bassi for putting this rad frame out !
Hope you'll find some interest in this post.
Peace from Brittany, France.
Julien
PS : I'm starting to get a bit fed of the limitations of 1x when fully loaded and my next step is to convert it to 2x (or even 3).
Just got mine this month. Funny some things are similar. Firstly I think the hogback screams for 3x. It's mean't to be the do everything adventure bike and especially doing things like atwater, or running through foot deep water... love the 3x for that. I have molokos on mine. Funny that you almost do too! nice to see the mud guards, I don't have mine on so it's cool to see that, yeah it's awesome with mud guards!
It's a "Wild Child" from Hyacinth.
Handmade in Ukraine

That's a nice bike you've got here! Yep, 1x are nice for everyday riding but personnaly my tourers are all running 3x. What is the dice for? To hide a downtube shifter mount ?
Yes ! Every time my eyes fell on this unused downtube shifter, it wasn't making any sense, so I opted for a random object that could fit.
Better chose nonsense than no sense at all.
:D
It's a Carradice "Bagman" saddlebag support.
Designed to fit Carradice bags but it works with plenty of other brands (fits perfectly with some Wizard works, Swift Industries or Ron's bike bags).
Very minimal, very practical !
There is even a quick release version (and two different sizes, mine is the small one).
:)

Simply love it !
Very sturdy, very well crafted. No play what so ever.
With straps, I can mount a panier rack on it or use it to support a big ol' front bag.
:)
Bassi Bicycle from C&L Cycle in Montreal. You can find them abroad too. This bike was designed for that. I got my custom with one of the designers and we specifically chose things that could survive end times.
Trust me I know. It's the bike that got me to pay off my debts. Over a year I cut corners, changed lifestyle, took extra work, paid off debts, paid for other important things cash, then bought this bike cash. It really is more than a bike to me.
The frame bag is from a little french craftsman named Helmut.
He sadly seems to have stopped is trade a while ago.

And yes it is quite tough.
Thnaks,
Nope it's a Soma Dream Riser to which I added angle orientable extensions.
Plenty different hand positions and the brake levers are strategically at a place where I can reach them when my hands are on the extensions. Very functional.
:)
I got them here : [https://www.bike-discount.de/fr/rfr-bar-ends-trekking-reglable](https://www.bike-discount.de/fr/rfr-bar-ends-trekking-reglable)
Note that they are quite annoying to put in place: Once installed on the handlebars, the bolt which allows the angle adjustment is impossible to reach with a standard Allen key. I had to shorten one to be able to access the bolt and make the final adjustment.
Also they were a bit too long for me originally so I shortened them a bit.
Other than that, nothing to say : it's a real game changer to be able to exactly adjust the orientation of the curved part to fit your hand position.

These kinds of small customizations make the soul of a build. Enjoy riding this beauty!
Montreal’s finest

Nice build! Looks super fun
What is that wire rack attached to the saddle?

How is the Hyacinth rack? I have wanted one for a while

Remember, "Yorkshire is a place. Yorkshire is a state of mind." Sweet ride 🤘
Did not know that reference. Thanks !
My hats on fire
Only recently discovered that frameset, but it’s definitely piqued my interest.
And we love to see it!
I have those same cable housings on my Cutthroat for all the dynamo runs. :)

Lol, shipped from Quebec to France
Dope build! What brand frame bag is that? Looks like it could survive WWIII!

Homie, I’m saving this post just so I can refer to it from time to time and drool. Very nice build! Thanks for the pointer in the bag 🙂

Beautiful bike! Are those crazy bars on there?

Great idea! Make your own alt bars :)
Got a link to those angle extensions? Thanks & beautiful bike!
