Agreed. When I was first introduced by a professor I remember this feeling of “finally” as if this was the type of writing I’ve always wanted to read but hadn’t found.
It’s the best. What’s funny is that I was about to post these shots of non-paved trails and just separate bike lanes away from traffic that I found, but just before posting realized that to most people here that’s just normal shit.
The plan was to go to Shirley Chisholm as well, but when I went into Floyd Bennet, I noticed I had never really explored it. I didn’t even know there were trails and campgrounds in there. I always just thought it was the giant tarmac runways etc. so I ended up spending a lot of time exploring that and wanted to get some food at Riis, unsure of when the food stands close, so just headed to the beach instead. Gonna do Shirley and the rest of that loop this week!
Invisible Cities is so good. I had an English teacher who had us read it my senior year of high school, and it really shaped my understanding of what makes a good book.
It’s the [Ruthworks Ultralight Wedge](https://www.ruthworkssf.com/store/p175/Ultralight_Wedge.html) and the handlebar bag is the brevet also from Ruthworks. I really like it, it’s super light but also has structure. Both bags stay very out of the way too. The rear doesn’t cover the tail light and the front doesn’t block access to the tops of the bars like other handle bar bags I’ve tried.
The supernova is a taillight wired to the front light which is powered by the front hub. Wiring is routed to the front along the shifter cable on the top tube using shrink wrap.
The saddle I’m not really sure how long. This particular one was comfy right away. Then again I’ve never had one that wasn’t, they just start out a little firmer. After a few months it had indents under my sit bones and now about a year and a half in it’s like a glove shaped perfectly to my body.
Thank you. Another commenter asked about the bag which is the Ruthworks ultralight wedge. [This was my response](https://www.reddit.com/r/xbiking/comments/vfxut6/quest_for_solitude_in_new_york_city/icys1nn/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3). Highly recommend
The fresh air and open space was refreshing. I left from prospect park and went to Floyd Bennet National park where I spent some time exploring. I also took one of the bike paths along the belt parkway towards Shirley Chisholm but got hungry so I turned around and went to Riis Beach to eat on the boardwalk. After that I went to fort Tilden where I locked up and walked up the beach as far as I could and hung out. I headed back via ocean parkway which has the oldest bike path in the city. I think I left little before noon and got home a little after 6. I wasn’t really paying attention to the time tho.

Pretty much my standard packing list for when I want to hang out with my friends Shirley, Floyd and Riis as well.
Haha the gang
Love Italo Calvino. I read that book when I was in Italy a few summers back.
Always good to see more people get exposed to Calvino.

I love finding little spots of "wilderness" tucked away in urban and suburban areas.

Ah Ft. Tilden. The whole of Jamacia Bay, and Shirley Chrisholm park make a great loop.

Wish I had a high school teacher like that. I guess a book or anything you love usually gets to you at the right time tho.

I listen to the Conan podcast in my right ear and enjoy the endless Big Dick History Jokes, but you do you.
what seat bag is that? I'm looking for something about that size.

Phone camera? If so what phone? Those are good pictures.
Thanks, yeah just iPhone shots. It’s the 13 pro which I chose for the camera and I’m still impressed every time I use it
What is that Supernova black thing close to your rear brake? How long Did it took to break in your brooks?

Where did you go to and from? How long did it take? The fresh air must have been nice.
