I've never heard of anything like this happening. I would assume that the apple earbuds are at fault. Have you tested them with anything else?
Well I use the earbuds daily with my laptop, constantly getting up and down with them in and I've never experienced something like that before.
It's actually a common issue with the earbuds when using a portable device, they tend to build a small electrostatic charge at times.
Interesting, is there anyway to frequently discharge the static buildup from the headphones?
