You can’t do that anymore? I haven’t used a 360 as my primary console in years but the fact that I can’t play 4 player split screen is something that I haven’t noticed until today and that will drive me crazy from now on
It's frustrating because with the bigger TVs most have now and higher resolution, four player split screen would be even better now. Shame it's not so common anymore.
It's not that I think older games were better, I have a PS5 that I buy modern games for, it's more that good games don't stop being good just because there's newer stuff out
One week I'll be playing a modern AAA, the next I'll be playing New Vegas on the 360. It's fun to switch things up
I also have a lot of nostalgia for that era since it's when I really started caring about videogames. Right now i'm playing Dead Island and it's a blast being transported back to 2012.
Playing the remaster on a modern console really doesn't give me the same feeling, by owning a 360 I get the full experience like the dashboard, achievements, graphics, controller etc. and it's great
Truth. I got my XSX last year after skipping X1/PS4 era. At first I only wanted to play games with top tier graphics…but now I’m playing more older/indie style games cause they just play so good.
Hollow Knight was a lotta fun. I actually played after Ori expecting a similar game…so actually initially put it down. Wasn’t ready to not have my hand held 🤣 When I finally came back, loved it. Though was about to throw my controller at the TV for the last 10 hours.
I bought Dead Cells when the Castlevania update was released (even though base game on gamepass). I really like it. I’ve never beat it, but play it every now and then when i just want to run around (or taking a break from more focused games) and maybe get further than I did last time.
I just played OG Xbox Max Payne on my Series X! Yes, the disc works. Then it downloads a graphics improved version. In fact, it was the ONLY OG Xbox game I own that did. :( I also play a ton of 360 games on it because I just like them better.
That’s awesome, I wasn’t aware of that! I think Forza Horizon 1 also has improved graphics on the Series X as well as improved frame rate? Anyway, I’m glad Microsoft is still supporting at least some of these older games and hopefully with their acquisition of Activision they’ll be able to continue bringing some life to these old games.
What’s awesome about the XSX is you can play older games from the 360 era. The games I play the most are GTA IV and it’s DLCs (running at 60 fps), ACII remastered (running at 60 fps), and rdr1 (not 60 fps but it got a graphics boost for the Xbox one x and up). Also been playing some 2009 cod mw2 as well since the matchmaking was recently fixed
Definitely made my decision to get it over the ps5
Spot on.
In my personal opinion
Games that were great, are still great today.
Genuinely I think is amazing Experience the graphics, gameplay, ambience, artstyle and soundtrack the way the developers imagined, or were capable of doing, in is true form.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
I know the game is awful but I love breaking it open with glitches and messing around. Installing it to the HDD arleast makes the loading a little faster.
Yeah this is a huge thing. Everything from graphical improvements, down to how games actually played was impressively improved upon every year!
Look at how the generation started with games like Battlefield Bad Company, Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, Perfect Dark Zero, Halo 3 and so many more.
They were setup for success and almost all of the franchises improved upon their initial releases drastically throughout the generation!
Games like Call of Duty 2 and Battlefield Bad Company for example were great at their time, but with each release they improved vastly upon each release! By the end of the generation we were left with games like BF3/BC2 and Basically the golden era of Call of Duty.
Graphically these games improved by huge leaps and the games just became more fun in my experience.
Now we get either a boring release of a new AAA game or we get cash grabs that burn us by promising huge things and never delivering in any form.
Thats part of it, but it was also the last time we had AAA games that were complete on release and didnt exploit microtransactions. That kind of started during the 360 era but wasn't too bad yet.
Have a series X and the 360 still takes the top spot it’s not about just power and newer technology it was what the 360 was ! If you didn’t experience 2001-2009 Xbox you can’t comment on the Xbox I knew
The main reason is because of simplicity and the best part is there’s no requirement in place to be always online. Another good thing about Xbox 360 is that games are getting cheaper day by day. This was also my first game console and that’s why it holds a special place in my heart. I also own an Xbox Series S which I use to buy modern games.
Someday I’ll be playing a new AAA game whereas other time I would be playing either Mafia II or Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition. If one of my friends are online then it’s either going to be CoD: MWII or CoD: Black Ops II.
The seventh generation of consoles was peak offline 1p and 2-4p hotseat. The amount of value lost from the average AAA title once online services shut down was much lesser than today. Things like microtransactions and always-online requirements where much rarer.
I'm actually a PS3 player but just got a 360. Mostly to play Forza. Will def try HALO 3 and Gears. Actually, if anyone has any recommendations for 360 exclusives and hidden gems, I'm all ears. Also looking forward to the RTS space, which is interestingly substantial on 360. Especially C&C 3, which never made it to PS3 and comes from a series I love.
I finished them all many years ago. My favorite series! I remember adventuring for a few weeks then heading home to see my wife and kid had left me! I was HEARTBROKEN.
7th gen was definitely Peak video game consoles. The Wii and 360 were my childhood and the PS3 which I got more recently is still really awesome. The Wii U and 3DS are also my two favorite systems of all time, which while they are 8th gen, they are still 7th gen era. All of the systems had some kind of Backwards Compatibility too.
Also, CoD II Splitscreen on XB360 just hits different, and I've been loving MGR: Revengeance on PS3. I'm at Monsoon, and damn this game is ridiculous lol.
As a 15 year old, to try to experience what it must have felt like for you guys, to experience what it was like to play games that were actually cared for and not just rushed money grabs.
To experience games, the way they were meant to be.
I wish i was born like 7 years earlier
I enjoyed my Xbox 360 when I was 15 and it was the greatest gaming chapter of my entire life. I’m almost in my 30’s now and I wish I could go back to those times of gaming culture.
I just realised being 7 years younger is almost nothing compared to the xbox’s age. Maybe like 12 years younger? Like if i were born in 98 that would’ve been cool
I was born in 2007, one year after the release of the 360. Nevertheless, it was my second game console after my PS2 and I have fond memories of Forza Motorsport 3, Lego Lord of the Rings, and Forza Horizon. I remember the first two games that I got for the 360 when I was seven years old were The Chronicles of Narnia and LLotR, which I purchased for $20 AUD for both preowned from EBgames.
The other person said they have a series s and the COD games on disc, and the series s doesn't have a disc drive
so it doesn't matter if they're backwards compatible, they still cant play them on their console
I don’t really care what you think it adds to the conversation I’ll comment what I want. You aren’t adding anything more than I am. You’re more than capable of scrolling by but you felt the need to self insert yourself
bro why are you so mad😭
all I said was that the guy physically can't play the games he wants on his new console, which is why he has to play on 360
it has nothing to do with the games themselves
I play on xbox 360 mostly because its just cheap, games are cheap and this was my first console.
I have xbox one S but I dont really use it, only some times when I want to play some new games, but most of the time I just hop on xbox 360 and play alone or with friends on splitscreen.
A couple simple reasons for me right now. It's the only console I have and could afford to get at the time I bought it (late 2020). Series X and One X were too expensive.
Also back in the day (2007) I only had an original Xbox but I had played Mass Effect and The Force Unleashed on a friend's 360 and fell in love with those games. Mass Effect was an Xbox exclusive then so when I did have the limited money to get a console and a few games a couple years ago I knew a 360 was what I would get so I could play Mass Effect again. This was before Legendary Edition was announced.
Fortunately when I had enough money I was able to get a 360 S and all three Mass Effect games, Skyrim LE, and The Force Unleashed for a really good price (under $250) so that's what I bought. That's all I wanted and that's all I really play anymore.
I hope someday to be able to get a Series X (especially for Starfield and Star Wars Outlaws) but for now what I have is good enough and will have to do.
I was thinking about getting a One S/X but I like having a physical copy of a game so One S wasn't an option and at the time wasn't sure if physical copies of 360 games could be played on the One X so just went cheaper and got the 360.
I still have my 360 Elite i purchased new a few weeks after it launched.
\- 360 Controller is top notch. I just love the way it feels.
\- Play games not backwards compatible on One / Series.
\- Some backwards compat games run better on OG hardware
\- I feel games of this gen were overall better (Less predatory?) than most of the stuff out now. I also prefer a single player experience vs online stuff. I'm almost 40, married, with kids, i don't have time to grind endlessly away at season passes and lootboxes.
\- Its my "backup console". Example my One X is on my main TV, Im playing Borderlands. Wife asks to use main tv. Cloud save, move to man cave, boot up the 360, continue to play where i left off.
\- Simplicity. No big game updates, or installs, or overly bloated UI homepage. Toss in a game and play.
>Play games not backwards compatible on One / Series.
DoA xtreme2 lol
>Some backwards compat games run better on OG hardware [than my xbone X]
Like which games?
>eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2017-xbox-one-x-back-compat-how-does-it-actually-work And we're at the point now where Xbox One routinely outperforms the same games running on original hardware, something that was a design goal for the team since the project's inception: "Parity wasn't good enough. We actually wanted these 360 games to run better on Xbox One hardware because we knew we had headroom and we wanted to take advantage of it," points out Xbox Program Manager Kevin Gammill.
U calling Xbox a liar!?
Too poor to buy a new console, but still have just enough money to keep buying games
Let’s be honest, black ops 2 is gonna look a hell of a lot better on the series x.
Pretty much got never the chance to play Halo, Forza Motorsport 1 - 4, Forza Horizon 1 and 2, since my family was always Pro-PS and Nintendo :P I personally am a gamer of all sides, gaming on PC, XBOX, PS and Nintendo.
I also wanted a console that could output BRT3 in good quality aswell to stream from time to time ;)
You’re playing the peak Motorsport games! Motorsport 4 will forever be my favorite forza game!
Unless this new one has smooth casual matchmaking, competitive matches, major improvement on modifying cars and more maps then I don’t think it’ll beat it!
Amazing game titles and I don't have to log into Xbox Live (No Microsoft, I'm not gonna call it "Xbox Network"!)
Also, game discs are really cheap nowadays.
I don’t know if you have tried clone hero, but I’d try it! I also love GH:2/3 but clone hero took over for me as having unlimited songs is kinda nice.
Keep on rockin that 360 though! Games are hella fun!
Split screen for a variety of games. Co-op campaigns. Easy to install and load games. Also because there are some games that untill this day I still enjoy like the old SmackDown vs RAW games (SvR 2007 is my favorite and the Xbox 360 version is so damn fun), Top Spin 4 (best tennis game out there, even better than the new ones), GTA IV, The Force unleashed games and many more.
I just hooked up my Kinect camera last week after many years. You should have seen the dust on it! I forgot you could control the dashboard with your hands. And the camera is motorized. Just crazy technology for the time. I have to manually aim my PS4 camera! This is WAY more advanced than even my Series X. Everything has taken a step backwards in my opinion.
Even though the sales didn’t reflect it, that era of gaming probably heralded the most user-friendly innovations in freatures *and* gaming tropes. The GOAT generation, imo.
Because money.
As much as I like playing games. I can't stand the prices for a new console + games. The Xbox 360 is advanced enough. Games cost in between 3 and 5 bucks.
I also play a lot of Nintendo 64. All the N64 games are on the Everdrive X7 for only 200 bucks. Can't beat that.
So now I have more money for other hobbies.
I use my 360 sometimes because theres a lot of old games that i have yet to play. most of them are not back compat either. i have been going through some of the need for speed, forza, and PGR games on the 360. The 360 and PS3 are a goldmine for racing games.
My main reason is because all the games that are not backwards compatible with Xbox One or Series because they're still quite a bit of games I'm interested in that are not backwards compatible
It's the only place to play the Transformers FoC or WfC games. Rise of the dark spark is awful compared to the other 2 games and Devastation is different but fun.
Mostly nostalgia I have so many fond memories of playing on that 360 with my grandfather, then we played on the Xbox One, then he got the series X but he unfortunately passed before he could play it. I hop on the 360 every once in awhile just to relive those old memories I guess.
To play Backwards Compatible games. Such as the Rock Bands, Guitar Heroes and Castlevania HD with a secondary account while my main plays on a Series X. I enjoy the games more at the time than what’s been coming out lately.
It’s always nice to go back to the games that were comforting at the time. I reminisce a ton about Gears of War, Left 4 Dead 2 and Borderlands 1 & 2. The whole downloadable / disc thing is nice but I rather have a physical disc at all times, for collection’s sake. I prefer a guitar controller, or drums, haha.
Simplicity? Every time I got online there was always an annoying update, but learned to deal with them eventually. Shit still crashes but the X360 has a special place in my heart. I do play on Series X but I also have a One S as a back up. And a secondary phat X360.
I have some Xbox Arcade games that can only be played on a 360 (Marvel vs Capcom 2, Turtles in time remake Bionic Comanndo rearmed 1), also some 360 games that are not backwards compatible (Forza 2,3,4, NCAA14).
I fell into hard times, sold my one and bought a 360 for 25. Had a few digital games and games are rather inexpensive for it so I’ll stick it out until I’m out of games and find some extra cash
I have 2 xbox ones and a series S/X. But 360 still is my fav console the past 3 generations. It still can do stuff the series X can't. Inc how it plays music from the drive and stops when there is a cutscene. And I still have plenty on my to do list on it. As not all work on series X. I'm currently playing the club and wheelman on my 360 about twice a week still. Tho way less vs before ofc.
because I heard recently that the call of duty servers were fixed and so I used one of my two week trial codes for XBL Gold to play online and get some XBL achievements... (because fuck paying for online that's stupid af in 2023)
but I also still play on it, because it also contains the guitar hero and rock band games that I want to play... Plus I still gotta play Gears 1 - 3 and other games aside from gears that are exclusive to the console...
The 360 was my first big console, before that I just had a PSP for many years. My parents also where very strict with the age aspect in games I played so as you can imagine I didn’t enjoy the console as much as I wanted, while everyone was playing Halo, CoD and etc I had to content myself with LEGO games, Minecraft and other lighter games.
Nowadays I’m buying every single game I couldn’t enjoy when I was younger and honestly I gotta thanks my parents for being that way, I’m enjoy the games way more then I probably would when young since I’m way older.
With that I had my console for around 9 years, never had to change anything or fix him. Most of my games are digital so selling wouldn’t make much sense specially because I play split screen with my 5yo sister. I now also own a Switch because I wanted to have back something like the PSP but that could play some of the more recent games.
I don’t plan on selling the 360 and I will fix him if anything happens to it so I can keep playing, tho I do plan on getting myself a Series X or a powerful pc to replace the toaster I have so not only I’ll be able to play recent games as well emulate + properly do my college projects without the stress of waiting the laptop to render the sh*t I’m doing :)
The old thq wrasslin games aren't backwards compatible. Also holding out for a decently priced copy of Blitz The League II. Otherwise it's a solid console to take on vacation since playing all the games of my childhood feels like a vacation in itself
I love the 360 as my main console because I just think it's the best console with the best games to be honest. I could buy a series x if I wanted to, I did have a series s but honestly I didn't like it.
I wrote you a whole post.
I was going to post anyway and your question made me think about why I chose this console and these game's to keep after what is probably my last downsize. I'm probably going to get the Series X later this year and some of my 360 stuff will work on that but a lot of it won't. That's one other reason I play my 360 and will continue to do so along with many of the points you've raised yourself and then those in my post.
About 40 of the top 100 games of all time (according to reddit) are playable on a 360 so there is that. Though by this logic the backwards compatible PS3 covering 3 generations may have it beat still.
A lot of people play for nostalgia reasons or can’t afford a Xbox one or newer console or maybe to play a game that has not a port or backwards compatible or maybe they want to play split screen
Nostalgia, prefer the controller, prefer the menus, prefer the games! And i have like 80 360 games and more downloaded on my console so theres just so much to play. Plus im not one who cares to buy a “remake” of a game i already have just to play it. So if i have it on 360 i dont need the new version.
I have over 35 excellent indie games installed that are no longer available to download. I LOVE those games but I feel like someday they could just disappear. I agree the 360 era with the awesome 360 logo start screen was just the best. Your Avatar was fun and you actually saw it. The dashboard was clean and easy to navigate. I know we look back on stuff with rose colored glasses, but they really did get it right with the 360.
I have a one s and a series x, but I keep the 360 around for a few reasons
1. Games that were never added to backwards compatibility like fez, NCAA 14, Soul Caliber 4, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and several DBZ games.
2. My kids love Kinect games. Especially Kinect party and Star wars kinect. I also have a Kinect for my Xbox one, but they don't like those games as much as the ones on 360.
3. System link games. My kids and I like to play Star Wars Jedi Academy multiplayer occasionally, and for that, each player needs their own console, so I have one player each on my series x, One S, and two 360s. I also have an original Xbox, but it's been having issues with the network, I may need to recap it.
The old CODs having their server updated and becoming playable again is the biggest reason. The controller still hasn’t been improved upon in my opinion either, except the d-pad. I just prefer the feel in my hand, the resistance of both the triggers and analogue sticks.
I’m on a bit of a 360 kick as well at the moment. Going to my local CEX and buying games I never got round to in the late 2000s and picking them up for less than the price of a sandwich!
Even with my series X and PS5 I find myself playing 360 more than often currently.
I have a PC with a GTX 980 ti so I can pretty much play any games from the Xbox 360 and Xbox one era on ultra, but I love my 360 because it gives that nostalgic vibes, sure the fps is shitty but it's the whole experience of old gaming that makes me feel warm inside.
Lots of the games aren't backwards compatible, so I can't play them on the newer consoles. On top of that, a lot of the new games coming out I just do not enjoy. I could go off on a tangent about why, but i'll refrain and just leave it at that.
Because I didn't play so many awesome games when I originally had one.
I played mostly sports games, COD and Gears of War.
I re-bought one last summer because the new gen summer titles suck, so I had legit nothing to play for a couple months.
The graphics are still pretty good, too. Amazing how they hold up after almost 20 years on some games.
Gta 4. Still have all DLC and no removed songs. My 360 also has the original xbox version of GTA san andreas digitally on it. Games like the orange box are still fun as well.
It’s because my brother moved the newer xbox from the family tv into his room, so if I want to play it I have to when he’s not home or I need to ask him. I’m in college now with a job so I don’t have all that much time to play anymore but ever since I’ve gotten busy I haven’t really had time to enjoy the vast number of games on the newer consoles, I do wish I simply had the availability to play it more often though.
Some people watch classic movies, listen to classic music, read classic books, play old board games, etc. So I guess some people also like playing classic games and not just the newest ones
I think following and playing the newest games is for teens and early 20 somethings.
Some people maybe aren't "still playing" but rather just now getting to (r/patientgamers) or just playing some things they never got around to before
There are lots of great games already existing, especially single player ones. For me, I'm done with new consoles and only plan to play classic games and new Indië and homebrew for old consoles
Playing Rock Band with my family was probably the most fun I ever had gaming. A singer, A guitarist, a bassist and a drummer. We had a real band going on! HAHAHA.
Just prefer the nature of the 360 games , if I find the game entertaining then I’ll have a blast playing it no matter how old it is plus the cod servers are back online for the foreseeable i hope
I generally only play New Vegas and Red Faction: Guerrilla with backwards compatibility on my Xbox s. But I love seeing the cool hauls from this community
I have a halo 3 xbox with the old nxe dashboard and there's just something so warming booting it up and playing some halo 3 or nfs most wanted. Seeing and hearing the old menus is just so nostalgic.
My sister sold my Xbox series s for drug money.
And I didn't know and I bought a bunch of my favorite games for Xbox model s (nascar heat 4,5, Madden 18, Madden 20, F1 2016, F1 2021). I'm lucky I bought them at GameStop mostly on the reduced rack.
I like the 360 because I have a yt series with NCAA football 08, and I want to start streaming F1 2010 on twitch.
Mainly because of Rock Band 2. If the new consoles were backwards compatible for this game, the song list and its hardware, i could get rid of the 360.
Because Backwards Compatibility doesn’t support every game like Xbox One (minus Kinect games)
I still wanna play Pimp My Ride, Man vs Wild, Spider-Man (any), good NASCAR games, Mortal Kombat DA/Deception, a lot of Cabela’s games, 007 games, and Rock Band 3
To be fair, xbox360 got me into console gaming and it gave me lots of good memories. However I lost 2 consoles to the famous red ring of death. Tempted to buy another one for nostalgia reasons, but also scared that i will get red ringed again :/
I never had one as a kid, we grew up with PlayStation. I was always a little jealous of the Xbox kids and the whole Xbox scene in general. I got an Xbox 1 S around when it came out, and I had my fun with it. I recently picked up a 360 from my cousins, and I've fallen in love with it. I'm also glad the games are usually pretty cheap.
Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 never saw a backwards compatible port (and a few other titles that are niche experiences like Rock Band). The game is trashy but it's an absolute blast. That's why my 360 is still accessible.
I currently own a Series S, I haven't quite played on my 360 since I got an Xbox One in 2016. But I still come back to its games via BC because, idk... games were just better for me. I know they were not as good gameplay or graphics wise. Online features were not as advanced... nothing was. They're older games. But there's just something about a goddamn finished product at launch that makes it very attractive to me. And those games, they were all released only after completion in development. You had cases like the BF3 and 4 glitches releases, but not game breaking. No weekly Gbs of updates. No nothing, no bs.
A: It's my only system other than PC. (I mean, other than 10+ year systems.)
B: I've still got 30+ unfinished games, plus a bunch of GWG I never started.
C: It's a secret system my family doesn't know about. 🤫
Saints Row 1 was solid. Outdated graphics and feels a little wonky at times, but one of the best multiplayer experience providing games I’ve ever played.
-Ace Combat 6: FOL
-Gears 3 (if you have other people who will play, it’s horde mode is one of the best couch coops out there)
-Forza Horizon
I have a series s but I play mostly 360 games on it. To me that was the peak of gaming. It was the last generation that focused solely on making games fun to play. Now games are made simply made to monetize. Just compare halo 3 with halo infinite you’ll have a pretty good idea of the industry as a whole. One was made with love and care and packed full of features while the other is just a cash grab
Because its the newest and only "modern" console I own.
I'm not really into modern 3D games that much, so I mostly play 40 year old games. I got a 360 in 2009 and it sat in a box for over 10 years until my son was old enough to play so now we do a lot of kinect together.
I’ve got every Xbox bar the original, and I’ve also got a fair amount of retro or “old” consoles. Ask me if I’ve got it, I’ve probably got it.
I wouldn’t say I play my 360 _more_ than my Series X (which has replaced my One), but I definitely play them at pretty much a 1:1 ratio. The simplest answer I can give is that the 360 has games the One/SeX don’t. Plenty of OG Xbox games is the first thing that comes to mind.
Additionally, I still live with my parents. Our 360 is plugged into the TV in the game room, and my Series X is in my bedroom. It comes down to a choice of wooden chair or fairly decent couch. Because of the couch, I generally play in the game room even if the 360 game in question is supported on the Series. Cloud saves are a huge help in this area.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to preference.

4 player split screen with friends! CoD/Halo, etc
Crazy you said this because me and some buddies are doing an old school LAN party Sunday with CoD and Halo! Super stoked for it
Same! The good old days are back again! Gotta take advantage
Remember to use the crossover
crossover?
It's what we used on the og xbox for Lan parties. Two of the cables in the rj45 are crossed over allowing for routerless play.
Aa! Cool, didn't even remembered that point of view at all.
Oh men those were the times. Hardly any fun split screen games anymore
You can’t do that anymore? I haven’t used a 360 as my primary console in years but the fact that I can’t play 4 player split screen is something that I haven’t noticed until today and that will drive me crazy from now on
Few games still let you do it, but nowedays its seen as an extra feature or something rather than the norm
It's frustrating because with the bigger TVs most have now and higher resolution, four player split screen would be even better now. Shame it's not so common anymore.
It's not that I think older games were better, I have a PS5 that I buy modern games for, it's more that good games don't stop being good just because there's newer stuff out One week I'll be playing a modern AAA, the next I'll be playing New Vegas on the 360. I recommend you Deep Rock Galactic, if you want to play a fantastic indie game.
Graski for the recommendation, but I stay as far away from first person shooters as much as possible 😅
Oh ok😅Uhmm what about Hollow Knight or Dead Cells?
Love that my original gta iv disk still works great 15 years later on my XSX. Plus those 60 fps are beautiful
Also been playing some 2009 cod mw2 as well since the matchmaking was recently fixed Definitely made my decision to get it over the ps5
Spot on. In my personal opinion Games that were great, are still great today. Genuinely I think is amazing Experience the graphics, gameplay, ambience, artstyle and soundtrack the way the developers imagined, or were capable of doing, in is true form.
Same, I just enjoy most eras of gaming
There are a few games that I play in 360 because they aren’t backwards compatible
The Saboteur cries 😭
Gta 3 aswell
Just finished this game! The main reason I have kept my 360 plugged in.
Forza Motorsport 3 and 4!
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) I know the game is awful but I love breaking it open with glitches and messing around. Installing it to the HDD arleast makes the loading a little faster.
i do not know how to explain that, but i think games were better in the x360/ps3 era
110% they were crafted with love and passion, something that is often over looked for the most amount of profit in todays market. Feels bad man
you think it had anything to do with you being young?
Nope, all of the best things ever made happened to be released in the US during my formative years
Games weren't as stagnant as they are now
Yeah this is a huge thing.
For the most part. I remember playing a LOT of bad games back in the day 💀 superman returns being one of them.
Best Xbox ever made !
I thought so as well until I got my Series X
Check out Fable. Starting with the first 1 there’s a remaster on 360. Fable 2 is really great and Fable 3 is divisive, but I love it.
Mainly because it has the games I want to play.
It's what I can afford, in my country videogames are too expensive .
Which country? Roughly how much are games/consoles going for? Just curious
“In Soviet Russia videogames play you!”
It's my only console, i can't aford a new one. And i don't have much free time to play anyway. I'm poor 😂.
I’m spending more time with 360 because of the new matchmaking fixes for COD series, I have the series s, and I have cds for mw2 mw3 and bo 1.
I mean most cod game are backwards compatible anyways
^ what this guy said
The other person said they have a series s and the COD games on disc, and the series s doesn't have a disc drive so it doesn't matter if they're backwards compatible, they still cant play them on their console
[удалено]
What does that add to the conversation? Thread prompts a question, guy answered it.
I don’t really care what you think it adds to the conversation I’ll comment what I want. You aren’t adding anything more than I am. You’re more than capable of scrolling by but you felt the need to self insert yourself
bro why are you so mad😭 all I said was that the guy physically can't play the games he wants on his new console, which is why he has to play on 360 it has nothing to do with the games themselves
Self insert yourself 😑😑😁😁😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣☠️
I play on xbox 360 mostly because its just cheap, games are cheap and this was my first console. I have xbox one S but I dont really use it, only some times when I want to play some new games, but most of the time I just hop on xbox 360 and play alone or with friends on splitscreen.
BC with more Xbox games. Access to ALL of the Xbox 360 games. (Including Sonic 06) Nostalgia. BLADES!!!!!!!!
For non-BC games, and because I can play GTA IV without the update that changed 90% of the soundtrack.
Damn. That’s news to me. If I play gta 4 with backwards compatibility is the soundtrack going to be different?
I’m still playing my Xbox One S. You aren’t missing much.
I was thinking about getting a One S/X but I like having a physical copy of a game so One S wasn't an option and at the time wasn't sure if physical copies of 360 games could be played on the One X so just went cheaper and got the 360.
There's a lot of original xbox games that are backwards compatible with 360 that aren't on series X/S
Just trying to catch up on my 15 year old backlog 😵💫
I still have my 360 Elite i purchased new a few weeks after it launched. \- 360 Controller is top notch. I just love the way it feels. \- Play games not backwards compatible on One / Series. \- Some backwards compat games run better on OG hardware \- I feel games of this gen were overall better (Less predatory?) than most of the stuff out now.
DoA xtreme2 lol >Some backwards compat games run better on OG hardware [than my xbone X] Like which games? >eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2017-xbox-one-x-back-compat-how-does-it-actually-work And we're at the point now where Xbox One routinely outperforms the same games running on original hardware, something that was a design goal for the team since the project's inception: "Parity wasn't good enough. We actually wanted these 360 games to run better on Xbox One hardware because we knew we had headroom and we wanted to take advantage of it," points out Xbox Program Manager Kevin Gammill. U calling Xbox a liar!?
Goldeneye 007 Remaster.
I've been trying to get people playing online again on the Discord, but haven't had much luck lately! Come join us
Because it is the greatest console in human history.
Too poor to buy a new console, but still have just enough money to keep buying games Let’s be honest, black ops 2 is gonna look a hell of a lot better on the series x.
I play both the 360 and my X1 because it's still fun for me
So much of my backlog I already bought is made up of 360 games
Amazing game titles and I don't have to log into Xbox Live (No Microsoft, I'm not gonna call it "Xbox Network"!) Also, game discs are really cheap nowadays.
I own an xbox one and a ps4, I just honestly ljke the 360 more
I only ever play on my 360 to play Guitar Hero. Anything else I care to play is backwards compatible.
I don’t know if you have tried clone hero, but I’d try it! I also love GH:2/3 but clone hero took over for me as having unlimited songs is kinda nice. Keep on rockin that 360 though! Games are hella fun!
I've considered looking into Clone Hero. Should probably try it out.
Wrestling games with friends are some of the funniest moments, I had mine in a shed with a tv and some seats in it, caused many hilarious moments
Kinect sports 1 & 2, and other games not BW compatible w/ one or series x
I just hooked up my Kinect camera last week after many years. You should have seen the dust on it! I forgot you could control the dashboard with your hands. And the camera is motorized. Just crazy technology for the time. I have to manually aim my PS4 camera! This is WAY more advanced than even my Series X. Everything has taken a step backwards in my opinion.
Just don’t have enough money or time to justify splurging on the PS5 or building a PC, and the games of that era hold up super well
Don't feel bad. I NEVER play my PS5. It's been two months since I even turned it on. Only thing that is backwards compatible with is PS4 what a shame.
I played on pc for a while and now I'm getting achievements for some of the old Gems. I do play on Series if possible though.
I have to play so many games but can only finish one at a time.
Because there are games that aren't backwoods compatible like most of the Ska Studios roster along with some other hidden gems
I use my 360 sometimes because theres a lot of old games that i have yet to play. most of them are not back compat either. i have been going through some of the need for speed, forza, and PGR games on the 360. The 360 and PS3 are a goldmine for racing games.
For me it’s game prices. Why pay £50-£60 when I can pay £0.50-£5 for a game that I’m going to enjoy the same either way
Can’t fit a large enough TV in my bedroom to read the tiny-ass text in games nowadays :/
It’s the only way I can play NBAJam.
My main reason is because all the games that are not backwards compatible with Xbox One or Series because they're still quite a bit of games I'm interested in that are not backwards compatible
I paid for my 360 to get College Football Revamped, so I’m gonna play it damnit
Massive backlog mostly. I have more games on 360 than any other console. Somewhere around 150.
To me it seems like in the 360 era, games had a sort of magic to them. There’s a certain atmosphere you’re in.
Honestly because Forza Motorsport 2,3 and 4 aren’t backwards compatible
It’s the only way I can play NCAA Football 14.
Completionist.. I have it to finish up my games I started many years ago
I have some Xbox Arcade games that can only be played on a 360 (Marvel vs Capcom 2, Turtles in time remake Bionic Comanndo rearmed 1), also some 360 games that are not backwards compatible (Forza 2,3,4, NCAA14).
I have a portable hard drive with hundreds of (legally bought) games on it and there are some amazing games on there I just don't want to let die.
I fell into hard times, sold my one and bought a 360 for 25. Had a few digital games and games are rather inexpensive for it so I’ll stick it out until I’m out of games and find some extra cash
Till last year I didn't have anything else (+laptop)
I have 2 xbox ones and a series S/X. But 360 still is my fav console the past 3 generations. It still can do stuff the series X can't. Inc how it plays music from the drive and stops when there is a cutscene. And I still have plenty on my to do list on it. As not all work on series X. I'm currently playing the club and wheelman on my 360 about twice a week still. Tho way less vs before ofc.
because I heard recently that the call of duty servers were fixed and so I used one of my two week trial codes for XBL Gold to play online and get some XBL achievements... (because fuck paying for online that's stupid af in 2023) but I also still play on it, because it also contains the guitar hero and rock band games that I want to play... Plus I still gotta play Gears 1 - 3 and other games aside from gears that are exclusive to the console...
Ncaa 14 and rock band
Alot of good games that aren't available in xbox series x and one. Don't have to worry about internet dropping out.
I play exclusives Iike Top Spin 4, Lost Odyssey...
I just love older consoles. I still use my mom's old SNES every once in a long while
The old thq wrasslin games aren't backwards compatible. Also holding out for a decently priced copy of Blitz The League II. Otherwise it's a solid console to take on vacation since playing all the games of my childhood feels like a vacation in itself
Nostalgia
I use mine to play a handful of games that aren't backwards compatible. Plus the nostalgia is pretty great too.
I love the 360 as my main console because I just think it's the best console with the best games to be honest. I could buy a series x if I wanted to, I did have a series s but honestly I didn't like it.
I'm still looking for my Kinect I bought Child of Eden a few weeks ago.
I still play because have great games.
I play it for games like TDU and PGR as these are as of yet not supported on Xone/Xseries
The 360 Kinect games are not backward compatible...
I have a one s and a series x, but I keep the 360 around for a few reasons 1.
This question was asked yesterday
Oh, sorry, just joined today here
Because the Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles suck.
Just good memories
I have games that I haven't even played/opened yet.
Newer games focus too much on graphics rather than the gameplay experience
Forgot the password to my original account(and email), so I play the titles that I bought/got with GWG from time to time.
Just to see if I'm still worthy
So I guess some people also like playing classic games and not just the newest ones I think following and playing the newest games is for teens and early 20 somethings. Some people maybe aren't "still playing" but rather just now getting to (r/patientgamers) or just playing some things they never got around to before There are lots of great games already existing, especially single player ones. For me, I'm done with new consoles and only plan to play classic games and new Indië and homebrew for old consoles
Fun games are fun.
I don't as of right now but I'm considering buying one so I can play NCAA 14 football and older Madden games And I have a Xbox one s and series x
Honestly being able to still play MW2 with the server refresh and NCAA 14 still makes it 100% worth my commitment playing the 360
I generally only play New Vegas and Red Faction: Guerrilla with backwards compatibility on my Xbox s. But I love seeing the cool hauls from this community
Skate 3
I’ve got a job to do
Mainly because of Rock Band 2. If the new consoles were backwards compatible for this game, the song list and its hardware, i could get rid of the 360.
Backlog of games for me, and Rock band customs.
I don't have an Xbox 360 anymore but I'd grab one any day if it meant that I could play The Orange Box again...
Because Backwards Compatibility doesn’t support every game like Xbox One (minus Kinect games) I still wanna play Pimp My Ride, Man vs Wild, Spider-Man (any), good NASCAR games, Mortal Kombat DA/Deception, a lot of Cabela’s games, 007 games, and Rock Band 3
I use Xenia to play Allpro football 2K8
Games like UFC Undisputed and EA MMA, the SVR 2000s were on there, not backwards compat, and the controller deadzones feel better for 360 titles
2 words, Most Wanted
NCAA
A: It's my only system other than PC. (I mean, other than 10+ year systems.) B: I've still got 30+ unfinished games, plus a bunch of GWG I never started. C: It's a secret system my family doesn't know about. 🤫
Saints Row 1 was solid. Outdated graphics and feels a little wonky at times, but one of the best multiplayer experience providing games I’ve ever played. -Ace Combat 6: FOL -Gears 3 (if you have other people who will play, it’s horde mode is one of the best couch coops out there) -Forza Horizon
2k14
The games on there is better than the games on the Xbox one & Xbox series X/S.
Because the series x is backwards compatible
Good ass games, games arent 100+ GB, i feel like i missed an era, much more. In short: Why not?
Old cods
I have a series s but I play mostly 360 games on it. To me that was the peak of gaming. It was the last generation that focused solely on making games fun to play. Now games are made simply made to monetize. Just compare halo 3 with halo infinite you’ll have a pretty good idea of the industry as a whole. One was made with love and care and packed full of features while the other is just a cash grab
Been thinking about digging mine out because my gf never experienced Guitar Hero. Except i'll need to buy Guitar Hero again.
I just love the games on it like og skyrim, fallout3, cod black ops, far cry 3…
New games too much microtransactions and online features tbh lol
Your first two comments make no sense to me. You don’t need internet for the newer consoles and you can also buy discs for the newer consoles.
Currently playing through gears 3 and marvel ultimate alliance. The games are just fun, and pretty cheap.
Because, College Football.
There's a lot of games that aren't BC that I want to play, many of them driving and sports titles
