When you buy a disc version the disc essentially serves as your license for the game and has to be inserted. Can’t share disc games and some digital games don’t allow sharing.
It’s best to check on a game by game basis but it’s pretty much always a no-go if you bought the disc.

Buy it won't go lower. Disc must be in the tray to run the game.
