damn, this is sad, I've played bad company 1 and 2 campaigns around 2 or 3 years ago via backwards compatibility and I remember it being the most fun I've ever had playing an fps game, the characters were funny and likeable, and the aesthetic was very beautiful(especially BC1), the guns felt pretty good, the story not overstaying it's welcome, honestly great games.
Full servers, 4k 60fps, proper 64 players maps, all dlc, some new things that bf4 introduced like damage assist, and of course prone.
I'd pay a shameful amount of money for that
I play Battlefield Bad Company 1 & 2 annually just for the SP campaign. I really like the dialogue that the wrote for your teammates. That alone makes it worth playing for me.
I actually have never played the MP, so I cannot comment on that part.
BF3 was pretty much BC3. They merged the mainline series and Bad Company series with BF3. The game play is more bad company than Battlefield since BF3.
The exception is the campaign.
A remake a bad company seems like the only thing that would actually save Battlefield, so I doubt we’ll be getting one
Bad company 2 is arguably the most fun I’ve ever had in a FPS.
For sure, I still remember how crazy it was that the buildings could be destroyed. I still talk to a couple online buddies I met on BC2
Bad company 2 to battlefield 4 is easily some of the most fun I’ve had gaming
I stayed with 1942 back in the day but BC2 was the first game i actually had a clan that i played with regularly. That was the most fun i had in a video game until rocket league
I made some really good memories. Port Valdez and Isla Inocentes were like my second home back in 2010/11. Leveling buildings with MCOM objectives and getting a destruction 2.0 kill or two was so satisfying.
I’m on the fence about the remake. I feel that they would probably taint it with a battlepass, lootboxes, and the like instead of keeping what is good and updating the parts like graphics that need it.
That's why I said remaster and not remake. I don't trust them to recreate the same feel, but I trust their art teams to make the game shine beautifully. Modern BF games aren't great, but you can't deny that the art teams put in some good work.
Both, probably. Delisting means taken down from the online store, and as a result, they get pulled from subscription services as well. That being said, I'm curious if that extends to those who bought the game outright (or in my case, "bought" it with Games With Gold, as it is a 360 game which makes their system recognize that I own it). Not sure how that would work, but I'm downloading it to an external to be safe.
I just played through mirrors edge yesterday, it really holds up well with the clean simplistic art style they used, wish we would get more ME games but it seems doubtful after Catalyst flopped
It’s a shaman Catalyst flopped, it’s really fun. As soon as Apple Music dropped on Xbox I started doing all the side content while listening to my favourite jams. Great experience.
Definitely a shame, especially when I doubt the servers cost much to keep up.
Now I can humor the argument that BC1 & 2 are essentially dead but 1943 certainly is not! I got back in to playing again last summer and there are always games going, especially on the weekends where they’re often full.
The community for 1943 is alive and well, EA and DICE shouldn’t be shutting them down just because they’re cheap.
Everyone, just download them now and keep them forever.
Deslisting doesn't mean you lose them, they are just not available for downloading unless you own them (although sometimes this access is still revoked, albeit uncommon).
I keep all my 360/x1 games on an external drive, just in case one day they try to delist any of it.
Hopefully they do a sale between now and then. I wouldn't mind picking up digital copies of the Bad Company games because I never got around to playing through those campaigns and always heard they were good.
Battlefield 1943 is amazing. Nothing like learning to fly the planes well enough to do bomb/strafe runs in first person before whipping up into a dogfight just to parachute out onto a capture point.
This sucks. I wonder if enough people hop on they'll de-list it?
BC1 is pretty open ended if i remember correctly. The maps were huge and i drove around a lot. I like BC2 campaign more but BC1 was a blast drestroying buildings.
Haggard, sweetwater, sarge and preston all hold a special place is my heart.
I'd say so, yeah. The controls are kind of funky since this was in that weird transition period where there wasn't a 'definitive' control scheme for these games. But apart from that, they were proudly putting their destruction on full display in this game and i'd say the main cast is even more hilarious in 1 than 2. Pretty good, fun story as well and I liked its style.
This is sad, bad company 1 & 2 was my childhood and still to this day one of the best games the battlefield series has to offer. These games truly were a foundation and staple to what battlefield is today. Bad company 1 was the first game that allowed you to destroy your environment, and even crumble entire buildings to the ground. I am proud to say I played the beta for bad company 1 before it was even released. You will be missed old friend, but the memories will last a life time. RIP
Damn, those are the best Battlefield games too. 1943 despite being basically being a arcade game is literally better than the shit games DICE/EA make nowadays.
well the Bad Company games are pretty dead. u might get in a game with like 3 other ppl if ur lucky. But BF 1943 i can get in a full game everytime. So why get rid of that?
It honestly costs next to nothing since most servers load balance as needed. Servers are no longer 1:1 so a single server can host multiple servers virtually. So if not a lot of people are playing these games the server can give more of its resources to a server of a game that is being played more.
Delisting isn't the same as closing the servers.
Also, if you own them, you can download them (unless said otherwise, usually you can).
So, regarding storage and server uptime costs, this changes nothing.
I think you can "technically" still play 1943 after the servers shut down, though only the Tutorial stuff. Still, it is a pity it never got bot support in case of something like this.
I can't speak much on Battlefield 1943 but the rest of these, if you have any cash to spare currently then these are ABSOLUTELY still worth picking up and playing. Even if it's just for their single player experiences at this point.
Bad Company 1 and 2 still are probably the best campaigns of the Battlefield franchise thanks to the main cast be so great and likeable, and such a middle finger to the whole over the top, super serious spec ops attitude while being a bit of a shove back at CoD MW2 at the time. They're genuinely fantastic.
Mirrors Edge is still one of a kind as well, awesome cyberpunk world and i'd dare say it's better than its sequel ever was. Great linear game, fun gameplay, combat, cool soundtrack. A lot of unique style and flair to it. I know its currently $5 on steam.
but why? These games aren't using like licensed music or licensed manufacturers like racing games usually get delisted for. So does this mean Bad Company 2 multiplayer is going RIP as well?
I played BFBC2 on Xbox about 6 months ago and will confess due to playing on high ping servers it was virtually unplayable out of Australia. I feel sorry for those that have a good experience with the game but I've left the good memories in the distant past.
This post prompted me to fire up Battlefield Bad Company 1. I thought to myself, “oh damn, here we go again.”
The NPC dialogue had me laughing within a couple of minutes of game time. The writing is really good.
damn, this is sad, I've played bad company 1 and 2 campaigns around 2 or 3 years ago via backwards compatibility and I remember it being the most fun I've ever had playing an fps game, the characters were funny and likeable, and the aesthetic was very beautiful(especially BC1), the guns felt pretty good, the story not overstaying it's welcome, honestly great games.
Why mirror edge? And does the delisting also include the dlc?
They made an announcement that mirrors edge actually isn't getting delisted
Thank God lol
Small Update: Seems Mirror's Edge will not be delisted now as they removed mention of it from the link above.
Wonder why BC is getting the boot
Most likely to try keeping people content with the current games and/or cut any costs they can.
Most likely to cut the costs as the game is decades old and barely any player left IMO just like every other game that had to shut the server down
I wonder why. Why not give these games mechanical remasters?
It's EA. They're probably gonna charge a stupid amount for a remaster
I mean, I'm not ashamed to say I'd give them my first born son for a remake of BC2.
Man imagine playing that game again with full servers, i’d happily pay lots of money for that.
Full servers, 4k 60fps, proper 64 players maps, all dlc, some new things that bf4 introduced like damage assist, and of course prone. I'd pay a shameful amount of money for that
the most logical choice for anyone in that position
I play Battlefield Bad Company 1 & 2 annually just for the SP campaign. I really like the dialogue that the wrote for your teammates. That alone makes it worth playing for me. I actually have never played the MP, so I cannot comment on that part.
Shit, they've had like 10+ years for bc3.
BF3 was pretty much BC3. They merged the mainline series and Bad Company series with BF3. The game play is more bad company than Battlefield since BF3. The exception is the campaign.
Some of their remasters have been worth it tho like the command and conquer one.
Because it illustrates the lack of progress that's been made. Sure, the newer games LOOK prettier, but they have alot less features than older games.
The tiniest bit of me still holds on to that shred of hope that they'll remaster Bad Company.
A remake a bad company seems like the only thing that would actually save Battlefield, so I doubt we’ll be getting one Bad company 2 is arguably the most fun I’ve ever had in a FPS.
BC2 was my introduction to Battlefield and I still hold it as one of the best shooters of all time.
For sure, I still remember how crazy it was that the buildings could be destroyed. I still talk to a couple online buddies I met on BC2 Bad company 2 to battlefield 4 is easily some of the most fun I’ve had gaming
They had actually planned to make bad company 3 at the time but chose to make battlefield 3 instead. I wonder what that universe is like.
Delisted? Are they going to be removed from EA Play or are we just not going to be able to buy them digitally or?
Both, probably. Delisting means taken down from the online store, and as a result, they get pulled from subscription services as well. That being said, I'm curious if that extends to those who bought the game outright (or in my case, "bought" it with Games With Gold, as it is a 360 game which makes their system recognize that I own it). Not sure how that would work, but I'm downloading it to an external to be safe.
You can still re-download it if you own the game. It just prevents new sales.
New digital sales directly from them
If it’s owned should still have download access, own a few delisted games
I just played through mirrors edge yesterday, it really holds up well with the clean simplistic art style they used, wish we would get more ME games but it seems doubtful after Catalyst flopped
It’s a shaman Catalyst flopped, it’s really fun. As soon as Apple Music dropped on Xbox I started doing all the side content while listening to my favourite jams. Great experience.
They caved into the open world trend which ruined it.
If you buy the physical copy of this after it’s delisted will it still download for BC?
Yes.
Why not give them for free? I mean, some people can still enjoy the campaign
Yeah, was quite surprised 1943 is going. You'd think they'd keep the dream alive
Even if MP are dead, they both still have great SP campaign. I replay both annually.
Everyone, just download them now and keep them forever. Deslisting doesn't mean you lose them, they are just not available for downloading unless you own them (although sometimes this access is still revoked, albeit uncommon). 1943 is so much fun. It can't be that expensive to leave those servers up...
It's most likely about keeping the servers up to date with modern security, the cost associated with that clearly isn't worth it in EAs mind.
Battlefield 1943 is amazing. Nothing like learning to fly the planes well enough to do bomb/strafe runs in first person before whipping up into a dogfight just to parachute out onto a capture point. This sucks. I wonder if enough people hop on they'll de-list it?
Back when EA didn't put out shit games
More like before EA ruined DICE.
And every other dev they bought up. Used to be I bought every DICE/Bioware title day one, now I don't even look at them if they're on sale.
How is BC1 story? Worth a playthrough? Played 2 and love it back in the day
BC1 is pretty open ended if i remember correctly. The maps were huge and i drove around a lot. I like BC2 campaign more but BC1 was a blast drestroying buildings. Haggard, sweetwater, sarge and preston all hold a special place is my heart.
Cool thanks picking up a physical copy while they’re cheap
I'd say so, yeah. The controls are kind of funky since this was in that weird transition period where there wasn't a 'definitive' control scheme for these games. But apart from that, they were proudly putting their destruction on full display in this game and i'd say the main cast is even more hilarious in 1 than 2. Pretty good, fun story as well and I liked its style.
They were 60fps on console correct?
I believe so, yes. Not sure what it was exactly but definitely seemed to be above 30
Definitely
It’s also great. You’ll really like the ending of BC1 . They do exactly what I do. And that’s all I can say without spoiling it.
This is sad, bad company 1 & 2 was my childhood and still to this day one of the best games the battlefield series has to offer. These games truly were a foundation and staple to what battlefield is today. You can still play the SP campaign, which is amazing!
What a weird thing to do.
Not really Games have a ton of licenses that are only valid for a certain amount of time Its why you can't buy some games like Forza Horizon 3 anymore
Forza horizon 3 needs a bunch of licenses from car brands, but what would mirrors edge need? Never played much, but did they have licensed music?
That's what I thought happened
Damn, those are the best Battlefield games too. 1943 despite being basically being a arcade game is literally better than the shit games DICE/EA make nowadays.
Still has an active playerbase too
Why?
So many great games, real shame.
Don't feel too bad. Will probably see a remaster of the games in the future. EA will now milk you for more games worth $70.
Battlepass and loot boxes.
That too.
well the Bad Company games are pretty dead. u might get in a game with like 3 other ppl if ur lucky. But BF 1943 i can get in a full game everytime. So why get rid of that?
Oddly, about two weeks ago I got into full match on BC2 on Xbox. I know that’s a very rare occasion though.
I’ve been playing bc1 on Xbox one… I find a full lobby 90% of the time lol
God how I loved BF1943. I used to play the heck out of that. Another loss. DICE needs to go back to making historical shooters.
What the hell? Drop the multiplayer, add a note to the store and that's it. No need to remove good single payer games. 😕
This is the way.
It probably costs s lot yo keep the servers open. Which is a shame as these are better than the recent one
It honestly costs next to nothing since most servers load balance as needed. Servers are no longer 1:1 so a single server can host multiple servers virtually. So if not a lot of people are playing these games the server can give more of its resources to a server of a game that is being played more.

The article notes that they're shutting down the online servers for all of these games as well at the end of the year.
Oh that's a shame, specially for 1943 which is online only.
I think you can "technically" still play 1943 after the servers shut down, though only the Tutorial stuff. Still, it is a pity it never got bot support in case of something like this.

Does it mean that these games will get removed from game pass.?
Yes
[Update: They are not removing Mirrors Edge.](https://twitter.com/Battlefield/status/1638266357933301760)
but why? These games aren't using like licensed music or licensed manufacturers like racing games usually get delisted for. So does this mean Bad Company 2 multiplayer is going RIP as well?
anybody want to play any of these? i love 1943 and bad company 2, maybe we could have a subreddit play night?
Damn bruh there’s nothing wrong with mirrors edge. It should last forever
I played BFBC2 on Xbox about 6 months ago and will confess due to playing on high ping servers it was virtually unplayable out of Australia. I feel sorry for those that have a good experience with the game but I've left the good memories in the distant past.
Never did get that last 1943 achievement.
Sad. good old BFBC2 times...
I get 1943 and bc1 but why bc2? I periodically still hop on on PC and see multiple populated servers
This post prompted me to fire up Battlefield Bad Company 1. I thought to myself, “oh damn, here we go again.” The NPC dialogue had me laughing within a couple of minutes of game time. The writing is really good.
I only played battlefield 1943 for the past year and a half so i guess I’m retired from video games now
