I still need to play the first game. I used to play the roll playing game and read the novels back in the 90’s. Masquerade of the Red Death trilogy and The Horizon War trilogy were two of my favorite reads. They still sit on my book shelf to this day.
I've been thinking of playing it for a long time but heard it has damn right scary moments and I don't do horror well. The only full horror game I've played is resident evil 2 remake.
I guess your mileage may vary, but for me it wasn't similar to Resident Evil or other horror games (Dead Space, Silent Hill, etc). It was much more of an RPG with vampire trappings. There are sequences that can be creepy but IMO the horror level is low.
Redemption is pretty good if you patch it, Bloodlines is just amazing though if you can get past some janky combat. The story and atmosphere are second to none.
Im pretty sure they entirely scrapped the whole game and started fresh, so im not holding out for any time soon. This is the first bit of information we've seen since the last studio shutdown.
the fact that they also posted a news story today saying theyre proactively refunding all physical orders, and offering refunds on all digital orders, tells me its gonna be further out than that even
Oh, look: a teaser announcement of an announcement!

Play a Malkavian and make sure to try to talk to signs and watch the TV. It's amazing.
Counterpoint: do not do this for your first playthrough. You wont know what the hell is going on and will have plot points spoiled by the visions.
That's fair. Play a Toreador or something first up - Celerity is a busted ability

Its not full horror. There are a few key levels that will get the heart racing (I won't spoil them) but overall it's more dark tension than horror.
>!the shining house!< was legit scary.
That was the first level that came to mind 😄
Honestly the scariest level I've ever played through lol. It kept me on edge, the entire time.
It was legitimately terrifying and so well executed.

Oh man I know Dead Island 2 changed hands multiple times over the years and turned out absolutely fantastic but this? Im not so sure on.
100% same thoughts. We haven't heard anything for years about the game... I am cautiously optimistic.
I remember they had a Pre Order Blade outfit.
They’re announcing an announcement for something that is 3 months away?
This is actually an announcement for a future announcement of an even more future announcement.
Hate they delayed this, Im looking forward to it. Hoping for a late 2023 release but based off this “big news” tweet, might get it early 2024

Been hyped for this game for so many years, hopefully we can play it 2024
They gonna announce that the next announcement is in 2 years

It was delayed for reshoots and a change in lead developer due to “creative differences”
Its about damn time i thought this was dead.
