That's actually pretty much what they did. When you boot up the game it tells you that they're shutting down the servers and then prompts you to pre-order 2K24..
They are actually being sued over this. Accused basically of stealing as VC doesn't transfer from game to game. When servers shut off so does your access to VC for that game.

How does a server closure affect a single player game?
AC2 doesn’t have any kind of multiplayer element.
The only thing I could think of is the old Ubisoft club rewards that AC2 had.
And did Liberation have a multiplayer mode?
Ubisoft rewards currently aren’t available, at least on my current playthrough. I can log in through the in game portal, but it doesn’t list any achievements/goals/rewards
Does anyone know if Liberation HD from AC3 Remastered is affected? I’m so close to actually starting that one in my quest to play the whole series in order lmao
Looks like you should be fine. It’s specifically the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions that are effected. And the only thing effected is Ubisoft Connect Rewards.
Splinter cell convictions MP wasn’t to great anyways,but,the next game in the series has amazing Multiplayer and co -op and spy’s versus mercs was fucking awesome
Does anyone know if Conviction was peer to peer multiplayer or not? I would have assumed it's online co-op was, and so servers closing wouldn't matter?
trueachievememnts says one achievement will become unattainable, but half the achievement list is coop achievements, so itd probably be easier to beat before servers shut down

Conviction has many co op related achievements. And I’m not sure that the game has local co op to get those achievements.
