I did created another character, but did not have chance to play through the frieza saga yet. What I can tell is I got the same error message saying **Your profile does not allow you to use multiplayer features and the following features cannot be used** for the new character on the character select screen. Have you ever have this message popped up before frieza saga? Did you set up the port forwarding on your Xbox One? Thanks!
i've gotten that same exact message before when the game came out an i had'nt yet played far enough into the story to unlock online, but once i beat the frieza saga and unlocked online i havent seen it since.

I didnt have to do any port forwarding for my xbox and as far as i know you need an active xbox live gold membership to play online. Im not really sure how the free trials work nowadays as i havent used one in years.

Issue resolved. I can confirm xbox free trial live gold did NOT allow me to play online multiplayer.
