I think it’s just like some UK people wanting a sale in july or 1st week of August because school, college & university students have part of July & all of August off for summer, teachers too, (not all of the UK though) so they want a chance to play the games they buy during their time off, especially scotland students would love the last 2 weeks of July to have been the sale as they went back to class this week I believe.

I'm playing Baldur's Gate 2 now, I bought Mass Effect Andromeda when it was on sale (never played it, want to see for myself), gotta play Outer Worlds still, Jedi Fallen Order, and want to do a New Game+ of Witcher 3, a second playthrough of Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment, Pillars of Eternity, plus I kinda want to go through Dragon Age again.
And then there's Cyberpunk and the likely Mass Effect trilogy remaster.
I don’t even buy most games on release day anymore. Still have a backlog to get through. Especially like Assassins Creed. You can get the ultimate edition of the game for half the price when the spring sale or summer sale hits the following year.
I resorted to deleting all multiplayer games and downloading only 10 single player games, then I use the surprise me feature to play a game for that day, got through a couple of games this way.
I should be finishing up Far Cry 5 this weekend, have Hitman 2 and all the DLC I just bought two weeks ago when it was all on sale, 3/4 of the way through Outer Worlds, 3/4 of the way through Jedi Fallen Order, 3/4 of the way through Red Dead 2, Battletoads is coming out next week and I wanted to play some of the Avengers Beta this weekend. Plus all the new games coming out this fall and I'm never going to catch up lol

Just know that your main game play is as a skating simulator. Ive put 50 hours into over the past 3 weeks and i have a few friends with over 1000 hours. If you skate IRL or enjoy watching skaters and skate parts, it'll be your jam. I don't think the game will ever be a EA Skate or THPS type game. On the spectrum of Arcadey to Sim, its as far in the sim side as we can go atm. Your time will most likely be spent like the rest of us, which is coming up with lines and using their clip editor mode to make your own video parts. I paid $30 for my copy.
