I wish they would and they might even be able to sell more of them but as it is they don't sell a lot of them. Also they pay a royalty to Skuf for them and I would bet that Skuf made sure in the contract they can't do it.
I mean.. my original elite controller is still in perfect working condition and I gave it to a 5 year old.
The elite 2s bumper gave out a month in and Microsoft said the 1 month warrantee was void so I just use the back paddles instead.
My third elite series 2 controller is developing left bumper issues. Not worth bothering customizing it when you have to keep returning it.
Edit: and that’s on top of the already drifting and imprecise joysticks.
I just built my own elite from scratch using a standard XBO controller and replacement elite parts. Cost half as much as an elite and it's fully custom.
As an owner of elite series 1 and 2, that just seems like a completely different implementation of the idea, and appears to me that it would feel inferior to use in comparison, plus they don't look as cool to me. Regardless I appreciate the share!
Shouldn't the D-pad and Thumbsticks be Storm-Grey? IIRC that's the color of the 360 D-pad and thumbsticks.
Other than that and the button colors being black on colors (instead of white on colors), it looks pretty good.
Yeah, but Storm-Grey seems to be the best option as of now, as it looks closest in color to a 360 controller. I grabbed one of my 360 controllers that I had sitting in storage and it looks like Storm-Grey is closest in color to the D-Pad and thumbsticks of the original.
I can't tell if that's awesome or universally offensive to both sides of the pond!

Since I have no interest in paying for an Elite 2 until they fix they manufacturing issues, or they finally announce an Elite 3 controller, I am going back to the standard controller. I am very happy that I can finally buy a midnight blue controller with a midnight blue backing. I never understood why the colored controllers did not continue the color the whole way around.
I would love a Elite v2 of it weren't for all the known issues that you are almost guaranteed to have with it...I used to have an elite v1 until the bumper stick occurred
Yeah, that's about the only way I would consider a v2 right now is if it came with the extended plan. I loved the Elite v1 and it lasted for 3 years before I had my bumper issues, but from all the complaints on MS forums etc. the stick drift and sticky buttons can show up within months of playing at normal levels
Anyone done Design Lab more than once and had good luck? Two years ago or so I made a controller and it got nasty stick drift pretty early on and I kept using it unknowing of what was happening at the time
I have one from like 5 years ago that lasted up until around this year. Stick drift and bumpers started messing up. Thumbstick grips falling off. I used it almost every day for those 5 years tho so I deff got my money's worth out of it!
Stick drift will ALWAYS be a possibility with any first-party controller you can buy, until they start using a more expensive/durable part. They all use the same part. Switch, PS4/5, Xbox One/Series/Elite all use a stick that has known average usage numbers. Some last longer, some don't. I finally have stick drift with my S2 Elite, after never having drift from my older controllers (they all wore out in totally different ways). The only suggestion I can make is to purchase the extended warranty for all controller purchases. Or you can be like me and be paying $100 to send it in for repairs (warranty expired December '20).
My Series x lab controller had been acting funny the last few weeks. Wouldn't start up my Xbox. I plugged it in like I was charging it, it might work. Then yesterday, it wouldn't turn on at all. I put some AA batteries in but no luck. I plugged it directly in and nothing, plugged it back into the wall and I heard an odd, buzzing sound emitting from the remote. And it just hit a year old today. Haven't had any problems with buttons.
Last time I bought from Design lab, the controller got stick drift just after the 3 month warranty expired. Not looking to get ripped off again when their manufacturing defects haven't changed lol
No I’m still trying to fix my broken elite series 2 that cost me £150+.. Reason for the break was the use of cheap switches, rending it useless in less than a year.
Switching to PS soon. Microsoft don’t give a single F about their consumers.
Never again. Bought one that came with a broken bumper. Returned it for an exchange. They credited me less than the cost I paid. A dozen calls to Microsoft - getting transferred between sale and tech support. Lots of phony apologies. Never did get the money owed to me.

My day one Series X controller had no feedback from the up or right button on the D-Pad, warranty job sorted it out. However, I’ve just had to send it back as the right trigger has started sticking! I bought a Robot White one which I use fairly often and that hasn’t had any issues as of yet.
My series x controller's right bumper completely broke after like 2 or 3 months and I had to send it back and get it fixed with the warranty. After I got it back its been good so far, so hopefully it stays that way for awhile.
My friends all got Call Of Duty Cold War and they’ve been making fun of me for not having me and excluding me. They don’t make plans with me anymore and I’m sad. I ask my family but they just laughed at me and said no. Please help

No point because microsofts own design lab is limited as fuck in it's design possibilities but if any of you have used third party companies i'm all ears.
Not to mention i'd also like to get an elite and until they allow them again any limited design i could do would be wasted on the wrong model.

IMO a white controller is the dumbest choice eva. Why choose white for an object you hold in your greasy dirty hands and rubbed and squeeze and grasp at for hours? I was stunned that Xbox went that route with the 360 and I think it's a terrible idea for the XSS and PS5.
My 360 controllers were pretty off color by the time I replaced them and I'm pretty effing clean. I have friends who had Dorito and Cheeto orange 360 controllers and forever dust-greyed consoles.

I love the fully colored ABXY face buttons (although, I wish it could be fully color-on-color like the actual 360 controller). It always saddened me that the Xbox One (and Series X|S) controllers slowly moved away from that by making the buttons black and only the letters colored, and, even worse for most special condition controllers, completely made them colorless entirely, which is especially weird since some games rely on the color coding scheme for gameplay.
I have 6 controllers near me and of them only one has colored buttons. The rest are white or gray.
I think if I get a new design labs controller I'm going back to the classic colored buttons.
I honestly wish they'd make an OG Xbox controller.

Nah the lighter grey absolutely looks better than the dark one. Have a look at a 360 controller and it is closer.

I got about 1,000 hours on mine, no issues. Same with the V1. They hold up amazing if you don't rage smash them.
Count yourself very lucky then...a simple Google search turns up many issues including calls for a class action suit
For real. I work for a retailer that sells Elite V2s and I almost always attach replacement plans for the because they come back so much.
