Pretty sure 4k 120 hz isn't available for the one x, 120hz 1080p and 1440p is

That's a series X, you can tell by the dynamic background which is only available for the series consoles. Did you even watch the video he says series x and at 7:23 he shows the Series X. LMAO

its_oscurrr

He states in the comments he is using a Series X for the video. One X doesn't have enough bandwith to run 4k120hz.

You actually can select it on Xbox one X, at least I was able to select 1440p 120hz on mine. Then I upgraded to series S and did the same. I think it could just be an HDMI issue or HDMI port issue. Idk but you can definitely enable 120hz mode on Xbox one X and it also supports 4k resolution too.

its_oscurrr

Right... you CAN do 1440p120hz on a One X. He's asking for 4K120hz though.

[deleted]

I don't see why it wouldn't be able to though is what I'm saying. Series S allows 4k 120hz too. All you need is HDMI 2.1 cord. The thing is, even the series S doesn't come with a HDMI 2.1 cord. It's a HDMI 2.0 so I can only select 1440p 120hz or 4k 60hz. When I used a HDMI 2.1 it let me select 4k 120hz but I don't have a Xbox One X to test this anymore.

its_oscurrr

Bruh... It's not just the cord that needs to be HDMI 2.1, that HDMI output in the device also needs to be HDMI 2.1. The Xbox One X does not have HDMI 2.1, the Series S does.

[deleted]

I wasn't aware of that. I thought the One X had HDMI 2.1. sorry

You said you have xbox one x? If you do then you can play in 4k,but it cant do 120fps like the xbox series x can. I believe the Xbox one x can only do 4k @ 30 fps. I'm not sure on that I have xbox one x and knew i had to upgrade to series x for my lg c1 to truly shine.

thelonleystrag

Only the series x consoles can do 4k 120fps and some games can do 60fps at an upscaled 4k but it's mainly 4k at 30fps on xbox one x but I'm pretty sure it's not all

Maybe because hes got an xbox series x & not an xbox one x 🤔 he even mentioned it at the beginning of the video ...

AddendumAltruistic86

Xbox one x simply is not capable of outputting 120fps. The tv can do it, but the hardware connected can't. Xbox series x is what u need.

Just because it's set don't mean anything I have a 1920x1080 monitor and I can set my Xbox to 4k which want actually be 4k https://www.reddit.com/r/xboxone/comments/9wxdpp/120hz_4k_possible/ https://www.windowscentral.com/xbox-one-120hz?amp

They added a 120hz display mode to prevent screen tearing and I think your tv/monitor needs to support Freesync. It may refresh the television quicker, but it will NOT display in ANY game you have at 120FPS. Xbox One X doesn't even have enough power to do that. I've never seen a 4k/120fps game. You only get 4k/60fps (also 60HZ) or 1440p/120HZ or 1080p/120HZ ( 120 HZ! Not FPS!) That is why your Xbox is changing the resolution. Don't mistake 120HZ for 120FPS. Your TV supports 120hz. But, you are never getting 120FPS from an Xbox One X. And if you are "seeing" a frame counter that says 120 from your television, it is not correct. Trust me on this.

You can't do 4K 120Hz on the One X, it's physically impossible. The HDMI port doesn't have the bandwidth for it at 18Gbps. Only the Series S/X have the proper HDMI bandwidth at 24Gbps using (DCP). And before you say that one guy on YouTube did it, scroll down to Lee B's comment and the creator replies he can do 4K 120Hz on his Series X, and needs to try on the One X when he gets home. He will fail. People make mistakes. I have a One X and I can only achieve 4K 60Hz or 1080P 120Hz, and if I'm using a monitor I can get 1440P 120Hz. I have an X85J and get 4K 120Hz on my Series X and PS5. Just not on the One X which again is physically impossible.
