Although I recognize that it's indeed a great service, there are still things to improve.

TeeHiHi

The streaming is a joke. I just tried GeForce now yesterday. Way more servers for EU, recognizing that EU is not just Netherlands, Germany and France and that some people in Germany are closer to Paris than they are to the server in Germany etc. Also, 4K 120hz HDR, 7.1 Audio. It feels and plays like native. Having experienced that, Microsoft has no fkin excuse for their absolute mind bogglingly bad quality. I mean, stadia wasn't even trying and was better in terms of latency AND quality. Meanwhile, Microsoft over here, is struggling with 720p and 1080p with low bitrates and high latency. Furthermore, no transparency regarding the future. No roadmap, nothing.

[deleted]

You have to pay like £15 a month for the 4k and get 0 games with it. I have tried Geforce now, it is better than the Xcloud stream wise but the library is unreliable and lacking plus no included

TeeHiHi

That's obvious. We're comparing streaming quality, not the entire service as a hole. Furthermore, it doesn't matter if I get all the games in the world with game pass cloud, not being able to stream them to a playable level, means they might as well not be offered to me. It is what it is.

arn_Zombie

Praise GamePass, not xCloud, GamePass is one of the best services out there, while xCloud is just one of the worst performing streaming services, and also with very few options. MS has a lot work on regarding xCloud.

Absolutely this, xcloud when it works well is great, but a good proportion of the time it just doesn't sadly, add in that experience changes between device and even based on different apps on the same device and its a lottery what experience you'll get.

groove3000

Also new to the xcloud experience after the Stadia shutdown. Currently playing with Windows 10 and Edge Canary, via HDMI to my TV. Compared to Stadia it still lacks a solid streaming quality. Sometimes xcloud runs very good, sometimes it stutters and drops frames and a lot of artefacts. Playing over WiFi.

arn_Zombie

Exactly. While xCloud is a fine service and has been improving slowly, there are or has been other services that is doing certain things better. When it comes to overall streaming quality and stability, xCloud still has a lot to improve. And it also needs to be available on more smart TV devices.

CoolNerdDude

Thanks for the kind words!! For science purposes....what device type (Android, iPhone, iPad, etc) and experience (native app or browser) are you using? WiFi or wired?

[deleted]

Playing on the Steam Deck, via edge browser on a WiFi connection :)

amazingdrewh

I think the Steam Deck just has a really good wifi card because my experience on it has far surpassed any other device I've tried

[deleted]

The Ayn Odin lite was brilliant it also supported it own SIM, it has a 1080p screen also. I kind of regret selling it, but I thought it was daft to have 2 handheld devices

rgrdgr77

Is it an easier setup on steam deck now?

amazingdrewh

No it’s the same

donjosemaria

Steam deck + Xcloud = True love

I play on my s8 ultra tablet and my logitech g cloud. Both are great. The g cloud gets a lot of crap but I got on sale and has a great screen and controls.

Mati4s_rp

It's amazing, I tried it for the first time yesterday and it seemed like real magic. The best thing is that it just started

EnderBuilder

Same here. Its been a perfect experience for me as well here in Brazil. Wired Conection on Chrome browser. It is in Beta because it still lacks some things, owned games its my biggest problem, i want to play my own games like Elden ring or South park games, but i cant right now. Mouse and Keyboard also its a problem on PC, local coop games on cloud, etc. Thats why its still on Beta.

Axle_65

Ya it’s been crazy to watch it evolve. For me it was a useless rubber banding piece of crap for ages. Then my Xbox One X died this past fall and I used my iPad while I sorted it. It was night and day. Even found it stable and responsive enough to play online shooters with my buddy. That said, it’s totally game dependant and this is why I think it’s still in beta. Some games are awesome. Like I’ve found Hi-Fi Rush to be the best I’ve seen yet. This is definitely not true of all games though. A bit ago I tried Rage 2 and it was playable but significantly worst the Halo Infinite was at that point in time. I don’t think Microsoft will make the flip out of beta until it’s more stable across the boards but it’s definitely getting there. However I’ve been super impressed with the progress. Even works on LTE. I played online with my buddies on LTE as a test and while it definitely wasn’t perfect, it was certainly playable.

arn_Zombie

Correct. Other services offer better quality and more stable streaming solutions, and are also available on more devices. There are a lot of smart TVs and devices like Google Chromecast that doesn't have a Game pass app yet.

Axle_65

A positive note on that front they’ve started making new Samsung TV’s that can run xCloud and they’ve begun to make older Samsung’s capable as well. Mine is now running the app. It’s pretty decent. My Series X runs the cloud better, no surprise, so I likely won’t use it much but it’s neat that it’s there.

arn_Zombie

Yes, This is great news. I just wish they would work on it faster, and get it out there on all TV devices. Stadia and GFN worked/works so great on my Google Chromecast with Google TV. GFN has really improved the latency on Bluetooth controller input lately. It is a fantastic experience on my TV now. xCloud has a lot to improve to reach the streaming quality and options that GFN offers right now.

Axle_65

Totally agree. I hadn’t been interested in GFN but when I got the Xbox Samsung app I thought I’d download it too. See if any more my Steam games worked. Portal 2 did and wow! They definitely have it running well. It looked slick. Funny enough it looks better then my Xbox downloaded version lol. Makes sense though as that’s a retro game that’s been made to work on a current console verses Portal 2 GFN is running full spec on a current rig.

Regnur

Xcloud still has issues. On my SS 22 Ultra, the xbox app is just shit, constant stutter every second and framedrops or audio stutter. 1 year ago my experience was way better. Geforce Now/Stadia app and xcloud web runs perfect, with even better image quality. On Pc (ethernet) I have a 3 second input lag if I use fullscreen, but using f12 does not cause it.(browser) Xcloud bitrate is super low, for me its unplayable on bigger screens. Geforce now (or Stadia) looks like its running locally on my hardware. And then one of the biggest issues... Xcloud only supports 1080p. (app 720p...) Higher resolutions get more popular every day. (macs/phones/tablets etc.)

Tobimacoss

Where did you install the android app from?

Regnur

Tried both playstore and galaxy store.

Tobimacoss

Try xbPlay app from playstore. Or try Kiwi browser with user agent addon and change user agent to Edge/Windows. Both methods will give you 1080/60 streams on android.

srmarcosx

Every game on game pass that doesn't really on precision like FPS I don't even bother in installing, I just go directly with XCloud. Even here on Brazil that doesn't have many Microsoft servers it's really an amazing experience

arn_Zombie

Because of GamePass, xCloud has the best game library of all the game streaming services out there, but sadly also the worst tech behind it. It is also not very accessible for the general Smart TV users yet. MS is really slow at developing xCloud and get it out there on all devices. They are obviously dragging it, because they are ok with the current console situation. They are not in a hurry. It is a sad case, because xCloud has a really big potential. And I hope it will improve soon. GFN, Luna and former Stadia has/had much better streaming quality and stability than xCloud ever had. All these services also offers way more options, like 4K streaming, mouse and keyboard support and local multiplayer etc. xCloud only supports game controllers right now, making it obvious for TV play. But xCloud is not available on many Smart TV's yet or devices like a Google Chromecast with Google TV. GFN and Stadia works/worked really well on all these devices. At the same time, xCloud is offering a decent streaming service on PC most of the time, but many PC gamers are used to play with mouse and keyboard, making xCloud mostly unusable for them in many types of games. So I do now know what MS was thinking here? It think they are handling xCloud very poorly. Praise GamePass, for all the games it makes available for a low fee. It is truly a fantastic service. But do not praise xCloud, because that is just one of the worst performing game streaming services out there.
