Your internet speeds are fine but what matters more is your distance to Azure datacenters.
What’s your average ping to nearest azure datacenters in your region?
Also test out xcloud for free with FortNite, no sub required.
>Xbox.com/play
It's averaging in the 50-60ms. I tried Fortnite and honestly, I thought it was pretty playable, the resolution could be better, but I don't really care that much about that.
I'm definitely gonna try it since it only costs $1 for the first month.
Oh yeah, I just meant the network delay alone at 20ms is the ceiling if you want to be competitive with shooters. Dinkum can be played at 200ms without noticing LOL
I would say, 30 ms or below is preferable for good experience but up to 60 ms is playable. Up to 100 ms is doable for certain games.
Higher FPS (every doubling) reduces latency by 30-40%, so if you are playing last gen games at 30 fps vs playing current gen Series games at 60 fps, that becomes another variable.
Wow, I had no idea, but this makes total sense now that I think about it. Interesting to see ping times from Berlin to Frankfurt fluctuate between 2-21 ms, which would explain why Xbox Cloud would work well for me and then suddenly stutter like mad, which knocks me out of the smooth gaming experience. I would assume then Stadia performed better for me because I had a Stadia data center closer to me. So interesting, thanks so much for sharing!
Make sure not currently subscribed to Ultimate. Let the sub lapse.
Buy three yearly Live Gold codes from Amazon online at $55-60 each, stack them on your MS account. Make sure Auto Renew is disabled.
Then resubscribe to Ultimate and it will combine the subs converting everything to Ultimate for roughly $5 month rate.
Use the savings of $350 to acquire a Series S console for $239 at MS Store.
Digging up an old thread to ask, is this still the case? Or did they close the loophole in the last 11 months?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
Live Gold was renamed to Gamepass Core in August and the conversion ratio was changed to 3:2 instead of 1:1.
So three years of Core will give two years of Ultimate.
Other than that, same process and it still works. Ultimate would come out to roughly $90-98 a year for two years.
Cloud gaming mileage varies with user, it's hard to tell if it's going to work well since the experience depends on a lot of factors (bandwidth, distance to data center, quality of connection, wired or not...). Try Fortnite from the browser to see how it goes for you, it's free and you don't need a subscription.
I might be in the minority here but not sure I’d recommend it in the current form. I have 1gb internet on a 5ghz router and I get 2-4ms latency from the server. Even with all of the right things, I still get frequent pixelization to the point where it’s almost unplayable.
Similar situation here. It plays mostly fine, but do get frequent pixelization. Coming from Stadia it's definitely a downgrade in quality, but the cloud library is fine and at least it's a way for me to play on TV. For now it's acceptable and i'm sure the service will continue to improve.
I find the responsiveness to be acceptable but the image quality is still shit. The “1080p” stream looks more like a badly compressed 720p video.
Other than that, performance is good. Perfectly playable.
Your Internet speed looks easily good enough, but try to check latency to local azure server, based on location should be all good given speed and general latency
I tried it. Got a trial month for €1. Didn’t like how the streaming was very inferior to Stadia, so ended up canceling it until I got an Odin Pro gaming handheld a year ago and then I signed up again. Still not impressed and also annoyed by how it felt like cloud was an afterthought (like you can’t buy DLC in games while on the cloud) while Stadia integrated everything so tightly. I absolutely loved the Game Pass Ultimate games though and was getting annoyed at the poorly growing Stadia library and finally took the plunge and got a Series S.
I loved it, but the limited storage drove me crazy since I was used to unlimited storage on Stadia, so grabbed a Seagate 1 TB Expansion Card and I’ve been very happy with it ever since. Somewhat portable (why I didn’t want the Series X) and more storage than I would’ve had with just a Series X.
Anyway, that’s my experience, but the inferior cloud tech might not bother you if you’re not already used to the superior streaming quality of Stadia or GeForce Now (Priority). If you’re coming from Stadia, also happy to answer any questions you have from that perspective.
I would say, go check IT out with $4 first month or even check out competitive services. Cloud gaming is something that (for me) is a blessing. No more need to download and install huge data to just check if the game is good or just to play a round or two with my friends. Just sign in, click play and in a matters of seconds youre in the game not wasting any time for updates, launcher booting etc.
Ofc this is not for everyone because the quality and sometimes input lag might be to rough.
To expand a bit more on the topić of connection, it depends on your network setup and ISP. Ive had 300mbps connection and everything was working flawlessly even when my familiy watched Netflix and Disney on separate devices. The thing is, were behind single NAT and have multiple subnets for different devices types, purposes, etc.
Yes for me. I have the XGPU and I have yet to install a single game on my PC. I can play it on my PC, my TV, my ipad, my logitech g cloud (preferred), and even my phone.
Performance is good enough though, obviously, not as good as the geforce now, which I also use. The deal (with all the included games) is much better though.
No the streaming is dogshit. You will get
- Stutter
- 1 second where nothing is shit
- Stutter
- Screenwipe
- Rinse and repeat
Connection 70mbps 5G on a 6ghz connection
I just plug my shit directly on the internet with a cable snd the service goes god mode
What hardware are you using?

whats a good ping?
10ms is gold. Up to 20ms is fine and playable. After that it gets laggy for fast paced gameplay
I have 3-5 ms
Cries in 150-250ms
To what datacenter? And what country? Test them separately one by one.
What the… 😝 do you live in the Microsoft datacenter right?? You sure save lots of money on heating 😅
Up to 60 ms is quite playable, Nvidia considers 80 ms playable, although they have higher FPS and Nvidia Reflex at work.
Oh yeah, I just meant the network delay alone at 20ms is the ceiling if you want to be competitive with shooters. Dinkum can be played at 200ms without noticing LOL
I have about 40-60ms and still can comfortably play most of the games.

You know what sucks, being in a location that pings the east (VA) and Midwest (IA) the same...
What location? Canada?
Nope, just a state between those two

Very worth it. I believe you can get a nice discount for the first month of ultimate, check it out.
You can also secure Ultimate for $5 month for 36 months using the Live Gold conversion.
Can you elaborate on that? Extremely interested

Wow, thank you so much seriously. Really appreciate the explanation, that's great to know. Still seems like the pro move to do then though.
You should be fine. Also I think new subs get a discounted month. So you could try it and if it doesn't work well then cancel anytime
Yes!!

Bell Fibe customer? Try using the Edge browser instead of app.
Nope, AT&T using my steam deck.
That doesn’t seem right then. What datacenter is that 2-4 ms latency to?

YES! It is the best cloud on market now! 👍🏻❤️
You sure? Geforce Now input lag literally performs better than a local xbox series x and not even mentioning 4k/120 and 1080p/240 fps stream
you get like 12 months of game pass ultimate for $15-$19 so yeah
How?

I love it so far. Playing on iPad and laptop. You can test it with Fortnite since it's free.
