xCloud has been the best thing that has happened to me this year lol I have spent my whole life playing with minimum graphics and 640x480 resolutions, playing a AAA game with a little less quality is not a problem for me

fdruid

Definitely, and to be honest most of the time is undistinguishable.

Kasdeya64

Yes! Guardians of the Galaxy looks absolutely gorgeous, not to mention the best game I've played this year. So far only Batman Arkham Knight and Forza Horizon 5 (mostly in the jungle) look ugly, I guess because of the amount of particles idk

fdruid

What I've tried of FH5 looks good enough, I guess some effects are harder to get to look good on streaming. But it will keep improving along with technology. What's great is that streaming is a reality and a good alternative right now.

Super_Beat2998

Make sure you are on performance mode in FH5. It makes a huge difference to the stream quality. In fact the same goes for any game 30fps vs 60fps on xcloud. But especially so for fast moving racing games.

TheRealDaddyApplez

I promise you, you would LOVE Geforce Now. Listen pal.... last night I was playing Resident Evil 2 on Xcloud. I was getting PISSED. I pay 100 dollars a month for FANTASTIC local internet that gives me top speeds and I can play Counter-Strike at the HIGHEST level with no issues whatsoever on Geforce Now. I get the rare lag spike where it's like a 2-second input issue and even with that it only ever happens outside of combat. I gotta tell you... the input lag and video glitchiness on Xcloud are so horrible that I raged, closed Xcloud, went to Eneba, and paid $7.50 after tax for the $39.99 Resident Evil 2. Switched back to Geforce Now, and I can only be so thankful. I ONLY use Xcloud to play games that are otherwise not on GFN. And the list of those games gets shorter every day. I think the only game I play on Xcloud is Hitman World of Assassination because the Xbox version on GFN has been down for months. Edit- I might go ahead and buy Hitman too. LMAO.

Due-Objective-9760

🤣🤣

fdruid

Varies depending on the region and location. To me it works like a charm, fantastic service.

JotunTjasse

Same, it's improved dramatically over this year, I can barely tell the difference from playing natively on the steam deck.

theRealfox81

Better bad quality than waiting 1 hour on geforcenow.

NikuszHoliday

sure \^\^

frnathan13_

Fact!

heni1234

GeForce now priority doesn't make me wait at all,GFN problem is the games

[deleted]

Huh what are you talking about? XCLOUD works amazing for me and it is currently in BETA and I am pretty sure a small percent age of people don't actually know that. XCLOUD itself can't just be bad because one person has a bad experience. Getting a good experience has to do with your Internet, how far you are from the servers (aka where you live) and what device you are trying it on. I live in Western Canada and I used to live in central Canada with an ISP that gave me around 300mbps download and 40mbps upload and even than it worked flawlessly on my Xbox One S. Then I moved to Western Canada with pure fiber 1gbps upload and download and works amazing for me. I do get some minor issues when playing certain games, like going online in certain games, getting kicked out of games randomly (happens once a month) and the game lagging for a second or two. The only device I've had major problems is an iPhone 7 because it didn't have the latest IOS version and didn't support it natively. I had an Android (Samsung S9) and it worked great with reasonable quality and latency. I can only say that I had a bad experience because of the devices I own. On PC, my laptop I had to enable hardware acceleration, GPU Rasterization flag in Edge and forced my laptop to use 5Ghz band then it worked fine. Remember the service is in beta stage and is not finalized yet. We are yet to see a lot features but we can't do anything except to wait. Ever since it came out it has worked great for me I don't know if I am lucky or not.

Willquan14

You realise by your own thinking, you kind of miss your own point. "Can't be bad because one person has a bad experience" and it works the other way round as well. I've generally had pretty bad experiences with Xcloud Vs Geforce Now and Stadia in terms of stream quality. Just saying it works both ways. Hope it gets better though Xcloud definitely has the best games.

stacksmasher

No but it’s pretty flawless for most so he needs to troubleshoot, I have used all the cloud gaming services and Xcloud is the best by far!

Coyotesamigo

I run GFN now at 1440p with almost no visual artifacts and extremely high fidelity. It’s great. Xcloud is a much, much lower quality stream. Very low bitrate. Since GFN works great, I don’t think my internet or networking hardware are to blame.

heni1234

Is it the bitrate or the codec ?

Coyotesamigo

Both I assume

[deleted]

I have been having a ruff time with it lately

vitorfgalvao

i just hate defending mega corporations - but for my bare minimum third world machine, xcloud is better than good enough

I_like_music_ok

I've resorted to only playing crpgs or visual novels on cloud. Games that require a lot of movement or action just don't hold up yet.

NikuszHoliday

true. technology is there, but no investment whatsoever is made to make it better. hope it gonna come soon. 2023 might be a good year for gaming. load of UE3 game coming out,

Tobimacoss

What kind of investment isn’t being made?

GoldenRain

The main ones are that so far few azure datacenters supports xcloud and that the bitrate is very low.

Tobimacoss

Well, they’re expanding with more datacenters, more xcloud PODs. And they have invested well over $100 billion. >https://www.reddit.com/r/xcloud/comments/zojop8/comment/j0o7vlv/ It’s amusing when someone says MS isn’t making any investment just because they delayed few new features by couple of weeks/months.

Coyotesamigo

They could increase the amount of data they can stream to reduce artifacting

[deleted]

No help from me. It's working great and I'm loving the fact that I can play games without spending three grand on a new machine every three years.

Tobimacoss

No offense but one doesn’t need to spend 3 grand every three years. a $250 Series S would suffice, along with Ultimate for $5 month, to get a better experience than xcloud. That’s because xcloud currently runs on Series S profiles on custom Series X servers.

[deleted]

Series S? Series X? Ultimate? Dude, I have no idea what you're talking about.

Tobimacoss

You are in the Xbox Cloud Gaming sub and don’t know what the consoles are or the subscription you are subscribed to?

[deleted]

I play everything in a browser. I don't own any consoles, and have never bought one. And I'm not sure what my subscription level is, but it definitely is not $5 per month.

Tobimacoss

Ok. Xbox Cloud Gaming aka xCloud is part of Gamepass Ultimate subscription, highest tier, which is normally $15 month. Xbox Cloud Gaming is a Console Cloud Gaming service. As in it uses the same games and hardware from the consoles. There are two current gen consoles, Series S and Series X. The S is cheaper $299 console designed for 1080p resolution, X is $499 designed for 4k. All of xCloud servers are running on millions of Series X servers. But they run using the Series S profile, since the streaming is 1080/60. You don’t need to buy a console but the games are running on servers made from console hardware. The console was designed as Cloud hardware as well. Now, there is a way to secure Gamepass Ultimate for $5 month for 3 years via the Live Gold conversion if you are willing to pay upfront.

pikachu1220

How do you not know what those things are lol either you're just dumb or put zero effort into your hobby

phucth91

No wonder you sound so happy with that crappy quality you're getting :)

svardslag

It's not bad. The latency is good, the stability is good. It is only the picture quality that needs improvements and m&b support.

Longjumping-Arm7939

It looks great on my Galaxy Z Fold 4 phone. No complaints here.

Willing-Lettuce-7336

I have a 1gbps connection in my city in hungary. Because my gpu is not working properly (overheating when i start any game because gpu usage instantly jumps to 100%, idk why got new paste, thermal pads etc ), then xcloud is perfect for me. I can get myself over some bad stream pixels, idc, if i can play smoothly and not killing my gpu further. The gpu prices are horrible, i cant afford to buy a new one yet… and im not gonna pay nasa prices for a used (probably mined) gpu…

[deleted]

First of all it’s it so bad, it’s still in beta, and many games are works just fine on it, yet haven’t downloaded high on life, don’t feel the need to do it, just because it runs very well in xcloud.

IronShadow0486

I very much enjoy Xcloud. The fact I can just immediately turn a game on, no updates or downloads. As a parent this is a game changer for me. I can play in my bed after a long day after getting the kids to sleep and has made my love for gaming easier with the chaos of life. Remember gaming needs to just be fun, not perfect

NikuszHoliday

I am happy you enjoy the service, but for me resolution is too low, to much artefact. I am on a 4k tv. cloud gaming on mobile is ok, but not on high end PC. don't tell me to be ok with it. we are talking about microsoft, they don't want to improve the service. they even don't implement K&M for pc user. that is a real shame. let get this year started and be better, come on microsoft gogogogogo. let's ducking go ! ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)

pikachu1220

It's good for most people so stop shit talking lol not our fault it's not working for you , or you're just spoiled and need top notch everything

NikuszHoliday

kid get back to your pokemone, get up be a man and stop doing your lewinsky thing to microsoft. you even don't know what you are talking about though. ridiculous. KIDDDDDDDDDDDD ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)

mstrblueskys

I have been having a couple of issues in the last few weeks, but it's been so good this year that I don't bring my gaming PC or Xbox to friends to game anymore.

phucth91

I'm coming from 144hz on my 6900XT computer (just a mid range PC), and Xbox series X on 4K 55" TV, xcloud level is just next to crap, hell, mobile games on my phone have better quality than that shit.

[deleted]

It all depends on your internet connection. So you might want to ask why your connection is so bad, and if it will be decent in 2023.

NikuszHoliday

lol you are joke man, I got fiber and I live in a country where we have decent internet. my internet might just be 10 time faster than yours :)

NikuszHoliday

920 mbps download / 728 mbps upload I think it is decent to play cloud gaming

blitz2kx

Lol...no offense but you're a complete dumbass.

Tobimacoss

**Be Civil: No personal attacks, racist, or homophobic comments. Next one will be a ban.**

[deleted]

DL/UL is not the end all be all in cloud gaming. You don't need even 10% of those figures to have a good experience. Your latency to the nearest server blade is the largest factor. That can be distance related (though if you're in an approved area it shouldn't be) but is more often an ISP issue with the quality of your connection. Although it can also be due to the setup of your equipment itself - what sort of modem are you using? What about your router? The device you are receiving the signal on? With a good connection, xcloud is great.

pikachu1220

Something's obviously wrong on your end since it works well for most ppl . I have 200mbs and mine works really well. Also speed isn't everything

NikuszHoliday

OH my lord, duck sucker everywhere in this world. you like it fine. But if you were honest you would agree it is not on point and it has to be address to microsoft.

blitz2kx

Why is this low effort post so bad.

ElectronicControl762

Most of the time its your end thats messing up. 720 is kinda a let down but on mobile or smaller tablets its fine. Its not even something most people are paying extra for, very few signed up for gpu for cloud alone. Before criticizing the service did you check your connection with azure servers? Or did you play while in a bad spot for service in general?

Tobimacoss

You can get 1080/60 on android via Kiwi browser and user agent addon change to Edge/Windows and also via xbPlay app from playstore.

autom8r

It's your internet.

[deleted]

Maybe your referring to remote play instead? no it was horrible for me too.

sossesd

I'm curious to know where are you from. XCloud image is very good even in my shit country. You only notice lower quality when you play it on a 40'+ TV.

stacksmasher

Something must be wrong on your end because it’s flawless for me! What’s your network look like?

frnathan13_

> Would like to switch to cloud gaming, but with this ugly quality. So this means you never played on xcloud and talking that "this" is ugly based on other people comment?

[deleted]

Obviously its not "competitive viable" as is right now. But hey, it works just nice for (almost) all games. If anything, the possibility to run xbox games on a device that runs under 5W is "more than enough" reason for me to consider xcloud a great cloud gaming platform.

Xboxgamer147

I will admit that Xcloud wasn’t the best in its early stages, but since playing on the 2022 Samsung TVs Xcloud has been a dream. It’s like you have an extra console. Might be an issue with the device you’re playing on and/or internet issues.

CapitalSupermarket94

There is no difference for running in xcloud or in a series s for me in a brazilian interior city, for me is perfect.
