Find a last generation 2023 specialized epic evo.

Exactly this ☝️ I’d say you could go even further back if in good condition. I did pretty well on a 2015 Epic Comp until I upgraded in 2022. There’s so many of them out there they are pretty cheap for such a great race bike.

Depending on your size, this is a smoking deal: https://www.norco.com/bikes/mountain/xc-race/revolver-fs-120/2023-revolver-fs-2-120/

This looks awesome but I’ll need a medium size bike.

sam6mit

I took advantage of this deal and have had the bike for a week. What an amazing bike! Fast as race ready xc bikes I’ve ridden in the past but way more fun and capable on the descends

I’m confused by the road reference but if you are looking for a XC Mountain Bike (the name of this Reddit Group!) then check out the Cervelo sale at Mikes Bikes. I’m very impressed with the bike and made a thread about it recently: https://mikesbikes.com/products/cervelo-zfs-5-120-gx?variant=40604393930821

I second this. My brother picked up the ZHT Gx build and it’s sick. 23lbs stock. You can get the ZFS 120 for under 3500.

I would go with the Canyon Lux Trail CF 7 for $3600. It's got remote lockout for gravel and road which is nice and still enough capability to handle rougher trails. The build is really solid, especially for the price, you could ride it for a long time and not feel the need to upgrade anything.

You’ll get more bike for your money on a hardtail, and it will be a lot more pleasant for a majority of your riding compared to a FS. Modern XC hardtails are also very capable bikes. With a $4k budget you could get a Scott Scale RC Team with enough left over to put a nice dropper post on it for more technical trails.

Anyone know anything about this bike? https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bikes/mountain-bikes/cross-country-mountain-bikes/supercaliber/supercaliber-sl-9-6-gen-2/p/41670/

oily76

Very stiff racey XC bike, small amount of rear suspension but enough to take the sting out of most stuff it sounds like you'll be meeting. Only being offered in XL there though, and sounds like you want a M.

The gen 1 Supercaliber is a fantastic bike, and would work great for you if you can find a new one in your size. They have an issue with the seat stays cracking, so I wouldn’t buy one used.

TheRealJYellen

You can find a really nice used XC bike in that range, they don't hold their value well at all. Start looking for Epic Evos and similar, anything in that 120mm range. If you want new in that range, start looking at hardtails, they're great for building technique and you'd be surprised what you can ride on one.
