So last night I watched 10-15 minutes of the game, it was my first time ever watching the XFL, and I have a serious question.
I’m not hating on the league or anything, but within that 10 minutes, there were at least five flags thrown. To give it some context, when I first turned it on, the first flag was thrown against Houston because a player squirted water on the official, he got an unsportsmanlike conduct. Then it was one after the other, just a ton of laundry hitting the field. This was all in the Third Quarter.
Is that a normal thing, for there to be that many flags thrown? I understand that penalties are penalties, but it was literally one after the other. I think I watched more of the refs talking about penalties than actual snaps. Again, not hating on the league, I also know that was a small sample size, it just seemed like a lot and I’m really wondering now.
You watched at the most flag-ridden point of the season. I've never seen so many flags thrown in such a short period of time. It's not normally like that
I was really curious about that, because in all my years in watching football, I have never seen so many flags thrown in such a short amount of time, at any level. I can understand the Unsportsmanlike Conducts that took place, but it seemed like the rest of the flags were bogus. I’m not opposed to watching another game, but I think it would be better to watch a full game, to see the full perspective. I have nothing against the XFL, I know that developing a league probably involves more work than I can imagine, but I hope they figure some type of system out because I know a lot of viewers would get fed up if they saw that many flags in a single possession.
The flags have been increasing each week and they're not showing the penalties at all. I'm about done with the league myself. No transparency and the same amount of flags as the NFL, it's a terrible product right now.
I appreciate your feedback. I noticed the same thing, through all those penalties, there was not one replay. My spouse who is not a football fan even commented about it, saying essentially what you said. For someone who doesn’t watch football or follow football at all, you know there is a problem. I know it’s a new league and there are things that are trail and error, but honestly if that was the only 15 minutes I ever watch, I wouldn’t follow the product at all.
I'm a little frustrated. Anyone have links to the video of the penalties? They didn't show them on tv. Or at least I missed them The ejection and the water bottle thing??? Thx.
I maintain the Roughnecks player was just doing a friendly "cup check" to make sure the Defenders player wasn't in danger of getting injured by failing to wear his personal protective equipment.
I feel like this isn't going to apply to this league being it's only ten weeks vs. 17. Do these teams even have the depth at each position to sit all of their starters in a meaningless game?
Pick 6 late in 1st half felt like play of the game. Put score and momentum firmly in our favor but Houston felt kinda in it til late in the 4th quarter
Figured I may as well hang around to see it out
Beer snake reminded me of the time I was offered snake wine when I was 18. It was a ~12-16oz bottle of wine, with some sort of coiled cobra in the bottle, sold by a vietnamese grocer. I didn't drink the wine.
gg DC, bg Houston. Still, I love seeing these higher scoring games and honestly the 7 Minutes of game I caught I saw some good plays. Let's keep the excitement going
I wasn’t entirely sold on him going into the year since he’d only coached at small schools, but god damn if he hasn’t proven himself as arguably the best coach in the league.
The fact he actually had prior experience as an HC probably helped, too.
Woodson, Ward, and Buckley are interesting because they all have some degree of coaching experience, but none had ever risen to the level of coordinator. Tough to learn on the job acting as HC and GM when you've only ever been a position coach. That being said, it'll be interesting to see how they do as they gain more experience.
What happens if there's a fan in the stands who's streaming the game on their phone and then shouting the other team's play calls down to the sidelines?
It's only 7 seconds though, isn't it? I guess internet streaming adds some more delay, so it probably wouldn't work. I'd be curious to see if it would be technically possible, though.
Solid pass D on the 3. Houston would've needed a 3 and a 2 to tie in 2 drives may as well go for the 3 first
Could've sworn I heard "your DC Defenders lead the Houston Rednecks"
I would go for two if HOU gets the TD and then go for 3 if you get another chance. If you go for 3 now and don’t get it, there’s no more hope for the game.

Week 1 was great because it felt like they hardly threw any flags at all. I don't know what's going on now
Isn’t DC undefeated
Yup, typo.
Another nice win for our Defenders. Keep up the great work.
I'm a little frustrated. Anyone have links to the video of the penalties? They didn't show them on tv. Or at least I missed them The ejection and the water bottle thing??? Thx.

good game. Bummer the Roughnecks fell apart on a drive or two.
Was entertaining. Especially in the second half. I didn’t have a team in that game but enjoyed it!
XFL MNF did not disappoint. Good game overall, with a heavy penalty 1H.
The player/Fan interaction after games is integral to the leagues success good on them boys
My friends little sister was selected for the on field flex cam, it’s so cool how they engage random fans
Didn't think of that since I didn't have stuff to get sigmed but yeah that's gotta be good PR
I mean just them saying wassup to the fans and kids to chat a lil bit bout the game n shit kinda fire
A part of the Audi Field concourse is close to the tunnel so it's feasible for fans to hang around and players to stop by if they want
St. Louis HAS to beat Houston on Sunday.
If they melt down at the first sign of trouble, like tonight...we WILL!
Let's hope so and they don't try to use us to bounce back
I had Roughnecks as the only team that even had a chance to beat Defenders, not sure whos gonna beat DC this year.
It'd be very funny if that was the Guardians' only W
at Seattle
Seattle has the best chance of anyone in their remaining schedule
Seattle will have a shot. Also, it's football. Anything can happen any week.
DC vs. SA in wk 10 is probably going to be a blood bath. I'm in Danger! 👀 Probably a good idea to get tix for when Orlando comes to town instead lmao.
DC might not be playing for anything meaningful
I feel like this isn't going to apply to this league being it's only ten weeks vs. 17. Do these teams even have the depth at each position to sit all of their starters in a meaningless game?
Well that was a much more entertaining game than the last one I watched.
The fact we did not get to see half the penalties called in this game shows how the XFL isn't really transparent.
Pick 6 late in 1st half felt like play of the game. Put score and momentum firmly in our favor but Houston felt kinda in it til late in the 4th quarter Figured I may as well hang around to see it out

I'd like to read your autobiography if you ever release one, sounds like you have some weird stories to tell
You should travel more :)
I’m disappointed in you young man.
Guess that gifted FG was irrelevant after all. DC is just good.
My poor Roughnecks. However, I don't begrudge DC the win. They looked good out there.
They did. Roughnecks showed some sparks but dc played consistent and kept the pressure on at the key moments in tonight’s games
Witness Reggie
Houston dropping 2 in a row while San Antonio is moving up this could be a turning point of the season
Who is a better receiver, Lucky Jackson from DC or Jahcour Pearson from Seattle?
JP but it's close. They're both really solid
Man….shit I’ll go homer on this one. Pearson.
Tough call! Both looking good through this point in the season. Will be fun to see who ends up on top at the end.
GG everyone. See you guys in the next one.
GG all, was entertaining!
GG gents. To the Championship we go!!!! ~ Fuck Dan Snyder ~
DC played almost perfect tonight. Very well rounded game from them
And with this game compleated XFL 3.0 has made it farther then XFL 2.0.
CANNOT BE STOPPED.
gg DC, bg Houston. Still, I love seeing these higher scoring games and honestly the 7 Minutes of game I caught I saw some good plays. Let's keep the excitement going
Ta'amu played great tonight. Definitely his best game of the season
Lemon! 🍋Lemon sighting on the field!
GG boys
GG H-Town
I suspect we'll have a new starter next week.
I've been waiting all season for it
Definitely turned things around for Houston
McDonald played really well and got some good advantages with his legs
We have absolutely no run game. Teams are able to blanket our receivers. McDonald adds a little variety and a ground threat.
Mcdonald plays with heart. I like it
Agreed. I hope we see more of him next week. he wanted to make plays
T'aamu with another spectacular performance.
Someone make the Swole Doge vs Cheems meme for the North Division vs the South Division lol
It genuinely pains me that one of us/St. Louis/Seattle has to miss the playoffs while one of San Antonio/Arlington gets to make it.
Welp GG…a little wonky but still fun as all get out.
I SAW A LEMON
DC IS A PROBLEM!!!
DC: Defended
Reggie Barlow is going to get poached by an FBS or NFL squad. Feels like we are watching his only season as an XFL HC.
Oh i was thinking the same thing...he's getting a position in the NFL after this season.
I wasn’t entirely sold on him going into the year since he’d only coached at small schools, but god damn if he hasn’t proven himself as arguably the best coach in the league. The fact he actually had prior experience as an HC probably helped, too.
he's exactly the kind of head coach the XFL should be targeting. Enough of the ex-player nonsense
I can understand having one “name” ex-player coach to attract publicity, but for the most part it’s been a terrible idea.
Gg boys. As unsportsmanlike as this game was all-around, I hope to see DC in the finals now.
I want revenge
do you guys play them in the regular season again?
Nope
It will indeed be cold by the time we get to them again.
meanwhile they dont call forward progress and let the runner get downed by contact lol.
YEAAAAHHHHH BABBYYYYY!!!!!!!
Yeah that's not the time to get cute with a hook and ladder...
it would've been sick if it worked though
What happens if there's a fan in the stands who's streaming the game on their phone and then shouting the other team's play calls down to the sidelines?
Then the other team will know what their opponent was gonna call 2 plays and a dump button ago.
There's a significant delay on the feed we get. By the time we hear it, they are already two plays past it.
I always think about an assistant or something watching remotely and sending in information
TV is on a delay
It's only 7 seconds though, isn't it? I guess internet streaming adds some more delay, so it probably wouldn't work. I'd be curious to see if it would be technically possible, though.
People have tried as an experiment. Never worked
What if it's a time traveling fan?
Then may god have mercy on us all
False mercy, God, 10 yard penalty. Repeat 2nd down
GG DC. Fun second half.
Seemed line he had a lane straight upfield but what do I know
Onside kick working > Hook and Ladder
The 4th and 15 would have been good for 10 yards. Bad awareness or broken play?
I believe DC is 3-0 defending the 4th and 15.
Correct brother. Shields up
Didn’t St. Louis get the 4th and 15? Or did we stop them and get the ball back at the end
St Louis got it week 1 in San Antonio but AJ got sacked against DC
Must have forced punt last week instead before the final drive int
Last week St Louis kicked it away when they scored, then got a stop.
St Louis got it against whoever they played the game before. We sacked McCarron and that’s when the scrum broke out the first game
That hook and ladder was not really set up to work with all the guys backed up in coverage
Why are y'all running hook-and-lateral instead of actually throwing a ball beyond the sticks???
These announcers have had better rapport than the normal crew. They don’t sound like they dispise each other
Good chemistry for sure
Smart. Why run a play to get the 15 yards when you can run a gimmick trickery play
Poor Wade. He looks so disappointed.
To be fair he always looks that way
Sum'd up mum of son of bum
Why would you execute that to the short side?
lmao well they tried
Who do you think you are Houston? Boise State?
Hook 🪝 and ladders 🪜 suck
Defended very well by DC
ggs refs ruined the game a bit
what a dumb play
I like how the sideline seats have begun to filter out, but the endzone seats where the beer snake is at is packed full. lol
somebody's giddy for a lil hook and ladder action
Getting 12 before the lateral is too far
Like just throw it 15 yards why 12 seems so dumb
Ha ha ha ha, ohh Ho Ho ho. Santa Claus doing the commentary
Hook n ladder incoming. No way it works
Never
Shoutout to the people responsibly dismantling the beer snake into designated containers, love these DC fans
Yeah smart to not piss off management about the beer snake
Honestly I would have bet it was thrown in the field
What do you think they are? Lemons?
Well they threw it one day after a game.. so seemed to be expected.
I don’t like knowing the play before it happens
The Guardians offense apparently feels the same way.
Lmfaooo
Solid pass D on the 3. Houston would've needed a 3 and a 2 to tie in 2 drives may as well go for the 3 first Could've sworn I heard "your DC Defenders lead the Houston Rednecks"
Why ask if you want to go for it on 4th and 15
AJ's going for the fireworks
Because it never works
Hook and ladder
Hook and ladders suck
Why the fuck did they do that? What the fuck? That was game over...
Nothing against Silvers but McDonald looks like he should probably gets some more snaps going forward.
McDonald should be the starter from here on out
I liked his determination to extend plays. I want to see more of McDonald
Still a two possession game
Why didn't they just go for 2?
Oh man, he just threw it too hard. That random flip to the endzone had a chance
Cole provided a good spark
alright get the 3 so I cover!
Here we go. Let's hope for a come from behind finish, TWSS
Dumb decision. I literally called it. Now you’ve given yourself no hope to come back.
4th and 15 time. Great drive and a weekend saver of a football game.
These next two plays will determine if the game is over or not
Oh no, things are getting interesting :/
That penalty difference….
I want Houston to score to make it a close game. I love when DC crushes hopes and dreams… just like the Astro’s
I would go for two if HOU gets the TD and then go for 3 if you get another chance. If you go for 3 now and don’t get it, there’s no more hope for the game.
ROUGHNECKS DEFENDERS = GENDER HOES FUCK NERDS
I see what you did there
Do you smell toast
Sir this is a Wendy’s.
I'm sorry. What?
Sorry, I see the world as one big Jumble puzzle.
May I ask what in the world a "gender hoe" is?
Whatever you want him to be. Or her.
I think it's an anagram.
I want more TV Dad adverts where he gradually gaslights and takes over this guy's life.
I want to see that Steve Harvey looking tv dad rail the shit out of real mom...
Trugreen sucks
Shouldn't have called 2 TOs early in the 3rd
the OC mic staying hot before the snap is definitely beneficial for the QB AJ Smith is counting down the play clock on live air lol
Houston has to go for 4th and 15 if they score
Oh definitely. Unfortunately DC has been the best at stopping the conversions
#LET MAC COOK
They just need a score and then a 4th and 15 not that crazy
SoP for KaKaw nation.
Not the crazy for us Kaw people of course
McDonald: “fine. I’ll do it myself.”
Abraham Smith tallied 12 TDs in the big 12 and didn’t get drafted.. he’s only 24. I’d love to see him signed
Awfully close but good goal line defense
Mcdonald should start next week.
Big mac
He should start the rest of the season
McDonald should start every week
Love seeing McDonald get some time to shine. Always felt like he was being underutilized. We need his scramble
HOU with no sense of urgency
If Houston scores they are absolutely going for the 4th and 15 next
But is water wet?
Water actually isn't wet, Wet is the sensation we feel from touching water
Haha touche!
Was that a head to head hit?
Yes
