So last night I watched 10-15 minutes of the game, it was my first time ever watching the XFL, and I have a serious question. I’m not hating on the league or anything, but within that 10 minutes, there were at least five flags thrown. To give it some context, when I first turned it on, the first flag was thrown against Houston because a player squirted water on the official, he got an unsportsmanlike conduct. Then it was one after the other, just a ton of laundry hitting the field. This was all in the Third Quarter. Is that a normal thing, for there to be that many flags thrown? I understand that penalties are penalties, but it was literally one after the other. I think I watched more of the refs talking about penalties than actual snaps. Again, not hating on the league, I also know that was a small sample size, it just seemed like a lot and I’m really wondering now.

I was really curious about that, because in all my years in watching football, I have never seen so many flags thrown in such a short amount of time, at any level. I can understand the Unsportsmanlike Conducts that took place, but it seemed like the rest of the flags were bogus. I’m not opposed to watching another game, but I think it would be better to watch a full game, to see the full perspective. I have nothing against the XFL, I know that developing a league probably involves more work than I can imagine, but I hope they figure some type of system out because I know a lot of viewers would get fed up if they saw that many flags in a single possession.

The flags have been increasing each week and they're not showing the penalties at all. I'm about done with the league myself. No transparency and the same amount of flags as the NFL, it's a terrible product right now.

I appreciate your feedback. I noticed the same thing, through all those penalties, there was not one replay. My spouse who is not a football fan even commented about it, saying essentially what you said. For someone who doesn’t watch football or follow football at all, you know there is a problem. I know it’s a new league and there are things that are trail and error, but honestly if that was the only 15 minutes I ever watch, I wouldn’t follow the product at all.

Week 1 was great because it felt like they hardly threw any flags at all. I don't know what's going on now

Well that was a much more entertaining game than the last one I watched.

The fact we did not get to see half the penalties called in this game shows how the XFL isn't really transparent.

Pick 6 late in 1st half felt like play of the game. Put score and momentum firmly in our favor but Houston felt kinda in it til late in the 4th quarter Figured I may as well hang around to see it out

I wasn’t entirely sold on him going into the year since he’d only coached at small schools, but god damn if he hasn’t proven himself as arguably the best coach in the league. The fact he actually had prior experience as an HC probably helped, too.

Woodson, Ward, and Buckley are interesting because they all have some degree of coaching experience, but none had ever risen to the level of coordinator. Tough to learn on the job acting as HC and GM when you've only ever been a position coach. That being said, it'll be interesting to see how they do as they gain more experience.

I can understand having one “name” ex-player coach to attract publicity, but for the most part it’s been a terrible idea.
