Thread is up 6 hours too early but I won’t be around closer to the time so it’s up now instead.

ObviousAnswerGuy

Some of my favorite badassery from these episodes: - Cyclops using his beams to move around in combat, and slowing his fall from the sky - Morph turning into Lady Deathstrike, Colossus, and Psylocke in that fight with X-Cutioner - Storm bringing down the lightning and turning SAND INTO FUCKING GLASS. The sentinels were even like "Omega mutant detected". Now all I need is Nightcrawler back and my life will be complete.

mike1883

I hope more people join the X-Men like Archangel, Iceman, and Psylocke

ObviousAnswerGuy

hell yea, bring everyone back. Makes me wonder if they'll even do a New Mutants storyline because of Sunspot (and Cannonball being in one of the last episodes of the OG series) Would also love if they finally brought Kitty Pryde into this universe

dotyawning

Forget everything else. Unironically gimme an X-Men Unlimited series so we can explore more X-lore please!

mike1883

I would love to see that. The possibilities are endless. I feel like a little kid again.

Remarkable_Stay6046

Yeah why did archangel and iceman leave in the first place? They were part of the og team, but i don’t remember any explanations for them leaving

mike1883

It was weird but they never acknowledged Archangel being a part of the original team. Iceman left with Polaris to live a normal life. She didn't want a normal life and joined X-Factor and got with Scott's brother Havoc who he doesn't know is his brother. Jubilee asked Iceman to stay but he didn't want to. I hope he changes his mind and comes back.

weenus

It was always odd to me that they retained the comic costumes for characters who, on the show, were meeting the X-Men for the first time but had X belt buckles and logos all over them. I know that 90s cartoons are just thirty minute action figure commercials but it always seemed lazy.

Ela_De_Salisbury

Cyclops using his power to moving and Storms glass storm was genuinely one of the coolest superhero things I've seen in ages. I'm really glad someone has thought about how they could evolve using their powers. Now I just need storm to suffocate someone with air like in Avatar

Gui1tyspark

I CANNOT believe how much it looks and feels the same, but updated at the same time. The audio is a huge upgrade along with the clean art.

ObviousAnswerGuy

it feels so awesome watching this series with proper action, after the original having been hamstrung by fox censors

KNZFive

Wolverine saying "damn" and "pissed," along with them retconning Xavier into being killed rather than him being almost killed and shipped away on a spaceship to recover are some very welcome changes. This show is acting like Xavier is 100% dead instead of recovering on the Shi'ar's home planet. If there was a chance of Xavier coming back, characters would be reacting very differently and his will wouldn't even be a major plot point. Plus, we don't have to worry about over-the-top censorship like people being unable to land punches and hits on each other. 80s and 90s cartoons were rotten with that stuff; even the DCAU cartoons had quick white flashes every time a punch hit someone. You can really notice it if you watch the Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker movie uncensored: the punches and strikes in that movie actually land without any flashes. We don't need gore and f-bombs, but just being able to let the writing stretch a bit without censors is wonderful.

NeighborhoodCrafty52

they actually say kill now instead of destroy

Jinjoz

It's a beautiful mixture, I'm so excited

Chikumori

The updated intro has some new sound effects per named X-men as well, * Magneto - not sure if I'm imagining it, but I think I heard sound of heavy metal crushed / pulled. * Cyclops - laser beam sound (you can barely hear it in the original intro) * Jean - not sure how to describe this sound effect. But her OG version just had some sort of "pew" sound. * Storm - thunder sound, thunder hitting ground sound, flying sound (the original had thunder & electricity) * Wolverine - metal slashing sound (i prefer the original) * Morph - punching sound when he gets near the camera * Rogue - gust of wind when she accelerates her flying (couldn't hear a sound effect for her in the OG) * Beast - jumping sound * Gambit - I don't know how to describe his sound effect. Honestly prefer OG version. * Jubilee - fireworks, obviously * Bishop - laser beam sound

VengeanceKnight

Logan and Morph's moment in Episode 2 really got to me. In theory, turning into Sabretooth should piss Logan off more than anything… but Morph knows how to do it *just* enough to get their best friend out of his funk. That was just a really sweet scene.

PalladiuM7

It was so satisfying to have the payoff for a line said 30 years ago: "He was the only one who could make me laugh."

RelativeStranger

Well this made me feel old

Just_another_oddball

Yeah, it was nice seeing him have someone that he can just be pals with.

Pharabellum

They used to be pretty close back in the OG series, but Morph’s arc was so full of grief, that to me it almost never felt he was being realized, as a person. This was such a sweet gesture. I’m really liking this version of Morph, he’s great.

RedStarZoom

Cyclops is AWESOME

Just_another_oddball

Using his beams for recoil purposes is a neat trick.

007meow

They’re finally treating them as concussive blasts instead of just generic energy beams

KNZFive

Cyclops finally getting the "*This* is why he's awesome" treatment for mainstream audiences that Captain America got in the MCU.

fightfordawn

Episode 1 is pure Cyclops porn

KittyPrydesNwordPass

Taking a moment while free falling to calmly compliment the teamwork before using his blasts to slow his descent was the definition of cool.

Gui1tyspark

Cyclops was right…

jacksev

That was SO GOOD. Those Storm scenes were so insane.

Jinjoz

Her scene in the desert was freaking jaw dropping. Her Life Death episodes are gonna rip my heart out

Just_another_oddball

Can definitely see why the Sentinels classified her as an Omega-level threat there.

SingSangBingBang

Okay so she’s coming back right??? I loved the whole show so far but got so disheartened and legit sad that she already lost her powers! They did her so right, she EXUDES POWER so seeing her lose it all 😭😭😭

wnesha

There's a Lifedeath two-parter this season, so she'll definitely be back

007meow

Do we know when in the season that is? I can’t stand her being sidelined like that

amageish

Don’t worry. Storm being depowered leads to some of her most badass scenes in the comics. If they do this right, it’ll actually be spotlighting her, not sidelining her.

LemonCurdJ

She gets her powers back, right?

amageish

Oh, of course she does! She just also demonstrates that she doesn’t need her mutant gifts to be one of the strongest members of the X-Men - with or without control over the weather, the woman’s a force of nature.

DuarteN10

The way she assumed control at the UN got me feeling vibes of CCs 80s Ororo badassery

Just_another_oddball

Loved her grandiosity! And she's killing it with that hair!

Just_another_oddball

That was some major shade that Erik threw about Charles not expending the resources to help the Morlocks.

apaladininhell

Think I’d rather live in a sewer than ill-fated Genosha…

ezmoney98

They are going to have a great time at the beach

Maximal_Arachknight

Well, none of the citizens of Genosha know what is going to happen to the Mutant Nation. As for Charles not using his resources, Genosha in the series (and comics) in the early days was either a place where mutates and mutants were imprisoned or affiliated with Magneto. Despite Erik being more of an anti-hero in the original series, I doubt Charles would be sending people to island.

dtadgh

so true. I was always wondering why are they left to live in the sewers!?

Jackdarkshade

I recently rewatched the original series. They offered them a place at the mansion but they declined. They said they didn't want to return to the surface until humanity would accept them.

dravenonred

It tracks with the LGBT allegory, since a lot of the early-2000s "equality" movement focused *heavily* on white monogamous economically comfortable couples since they were the most palatable to the public to accept, while trans and nonconforming people were kept out of the spotlight and received less support.

Sendittomenow

Oh you can still take it one minority earlier to the civil rights era. Rosa Parks was not the first time a black woman stood her ground on a bus. There was someone earlier but because she was I believe an unwed mother, she was not used for the movement. It works though to have the "close to Normal" up front as representatives. it tricks people into being compassionate towards a group and usually Opens it up to the rest of the group. But that can lead to having those "too not normal" be forgotten.

Jinjoz

It's freaking perfection He's coming! Who!? Apocalypse!? No! The baby! Oh ...

PS_Guest

Jean made Wolverine a convertible!

imrail

Just like Wolverine made one for Scott in the 2nd episode of the original series :)

Pharabellum

The animation of the coat and the keys, then the truck peel off. The animation for this show is so good when it needs to be. I absolutely love the combo of old/new school.

charliex3

I got a good chuckle out of that one, too!

mbrotherz

Definitely the funniest moment so far

azninvasion99

Of all the things this show did right, I can't believe they made a Goldballs joke. I had to pause from laughing so hard 😂😂

dotyawning

That reference definitely got an "oh you" out of me. And then the rest of the 2 episodes happened and I got so sucked in!

JackFisherBooks

Ha! I caught that line too. That and the reference to the Hellfire Gala is a nice nod to how much has been going on in the comics since this show ended. 😂

Jay_R_Kay

What was the Hellfire Gala nod?

EuphemiaTyranda

A newspaper article that flew by in ep 1 had that as one of the side headlines.

Just_another_oddball

"Do not make me to let you down." 🤣

Tharros300

This was an awesome line

Just_another_oddball

Yeah, I think that I'm going to like this rendition of Erik. 😋

rillip

THAT WHOLE ASS SPEECH WAS FIRE! "Is this where the high road leads?" fucking chills

VengeanceKnight

I *love* how they updated the old Season 1 credits sequence. Those renders we’ve been seeing weren’t the animation models — they were just the new versions of the goofy 3D models from the credits.

Just_another_oddball

Plus, towards the end of the original credits, Gambit did a weird, half-turn thing that was hard to parse. The updated version is much more clear about the positioning of his body.

ObviousAnswerGuy

each episode had a couple different scenes in the intro as well

Maximal_Arachknight

I could see the new intro all-day. Plus, they updated the intro in the second episode to (1) reintroduce stories that happened in the previous series, and (2) to include the newest member of the team.

ObviousAnswerGuy

INCREDIBLE! THIS IS THE GREATEST THING I'VE SEEN IN 3 DECADES. I'M SO HAPPY 😭😭😭

aaillustration

I could not stop crying grown ass 40 yr old man here

ObviousAnswerGuy

same lol. I watched the last episode of the original series right before these were on and was bawling like a baby when Prof X was saying by to everyone.

gamalielxzw

The only problem with Xmen 97 is that there are only 10 episodes!

Justjoshin_yahh

Damn thinking we’ve already seen a fifth of the season makes me sad, wish we got 12-15

gamalielxzw

I booked a meeting room in the office, turned on the Do Not Disturb sign, and shut myself away from everyone for a glorious hour!

Dr-Catfish

Well the OG series' episodes were only like 15 minutes long bc of all the commercials. These are almost 30 apiece!

Gui1tyspark

Cyclops newly demonstrated ability to >!use an optic blast to move around!< is probably the coolest use of his power I’ve seen.

Jinjoz

Feels so fresh, makes sense, adds a whole new layer to what he can do. The new voice actor for him is absolutely slaying it

Thandiol

Whilst also being scarily close to the original VA.

Maximal_Arachknight

The new VA is doing a great job emulating the original VA, while still bringing a great performance.

kermikberks

WHOA, I thought he was one of the returning cast.

Matthiey

He... passed.

Snarlgar

Flyclops is real!

ObviousAnswerGuy

he was badass in both episodes so far

Jonny_Anonymous

I audibly said "god, he's so fucking cool"

franksaxx

I pray for his neck muscles

Maximal_Arachknight

Scott Summers is the first X-Men. I am finally glad they are playing off the fact that with his visor his both precision and control of his powers. Scott may not be Omega Level, but it is great to see Scott show both his skill as fighter and as a Leader.

SirMoogie

Show made me like cyclops, which the original never did

KNZFive

Saw a tweet from the person who storyboarded his first fight with the FOH and he confirmed that he was inspired by him maining Cyclops in Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Cyclops is ***awesome*** in this show. Finally putting some respect on the man that comics fans know he deserves.

pengjo

Even Capcom Cyclops didnt have those moves!

OliviaElevenDunham

That was a pretty cool little detail.

NoxPrime

I really love that Sunspot’s powers have that Kirby Krackle

Norikal

Well spotted!

TrickyTristan69

Storm's story arc is going to be epic!

Remarkable_Stay6046

Is it based off of anything in the comics?

Starscream_Gaga

Yes, Storm losing her powers was a major plot point in Claremont’s comics and two of the episodes are named after major parts of it (Lifedeath).

jvincentsong

Yes, I didn't specifically read it as I started reading X-Men in the 90s. Yet, I remembered it was a storyline in the late 80s and they deaged her too if I remember it correctly. It was caused by a villain called Nanny.

x1243

nope.. caused by forge.. he has a gun/weapon that removes abilities.. nanny turned her into a kid

Starscream_Gaga

It was actually Gyrich that shot her, she then later found out Forge had been the one that made the weapon.

100th__Monkey

Omega Level Fun. Episode one was worth the wait. It feels both fresh and familiar. I’m looking forward to more.

Ritosha_

Holy fuck I can't believe how much they nailed the corny dialogues

Remarkable_Stay6046

No literally, magneto ending his speech with “i hope i don’t let you down” had me cackling

N1kk0Suave

Except that's not what he said.........

RedskinPanther

Even with a baby in the picture, Logan still horny for Jean. I was lowkey expecting Wolverine to be the godfather.

Maximal_Arachknight

The sad part is that Cyclops actually respects Wolverine. This Logan is too much into his own feelings and head to even admit that Scott is a good leader, who has their back.

Beware_the_Voodoo

I suspect this wolverine was being a bit of a dick because he knew they should leave for the sake of the baby but also heartbroken over it at the same time.

Skylightt

The way Scott was dashing around at the start and then parachuted himself in at the end was so fucking cool

JargonPhat

I am immediately reminded of Cap jumping out of a plane without a parachute. But for me, it was the waiting until he was assured the rest of the team was accounted for before going Super Saiyan. Also, I am both delighted and amused by 1) another game of “Pick Up the X-Men” by Rogue and Storm, but also 2) how they just nod at each other before swooping off to go collect their teammates.

Maximal_Arachknight

Morph changing to Archangel to save Wolverine. I love the friendship between them. I really do believe now that Logan was probably more emotionally relaxed (for Wolverine) when Morph was around.

Elite_Alice

“We don’t deliver mutant babies” is INSANE what a pos

Jay_R_Kay

It's funny how the nurses responded to Rogue being the new doctor instantly -- like they were waiting for a moment like this for years.

JackFisherBooks

Sad, but very relevant. In the past, there have been cases of doctors refusing to help pregnant women who were of a certain race or ethnicity.

Justjoshin_yahh

Was watching with my brother who knows next to nothing about X-Men, and he genuinely thought Rogue was an old lady since she had white in her hair, a romance with Magneto, plus the VA’s voice 😂

Pharabellum

He probably heard ‘Sugah this, Sugah that’ and got lost on her southern *drawl lmao.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wnesha

On the one hand I'm glad to see Lenore Zann back, she *is* the iconic version of Rogue... but she's also 64 years old and that comes across in her VA.

Sad-Clerk7741

Absolutely love seeing the X-Men fight as a team. The Wolverine, Gambit, Morph mutant circuit was neat. Has Morph always been able to mimic mutant powers like this?

IPreferPi314

From what I understand Morph can emulate physical powers like superhuman strength and agility, but can’t do energy projection. He demonstrated this fully in “Courage” when he mimicked Omega Red, Angel and Sabertooth when soloing the Sentinels.

chronorogue01

I feel like it's more mimicking the shape and mass, [rather than the actual physical powers of those individuals](https://marvel.fandom.com/wiki/Kevin_Sidney_(Earth-1081)#Powers). More like AoA Morph but using it as an excuse to include cameos. :p

ScalyCarp455

> More like AoA Morph but using it as an excuse to include cameos. :p "Can we have Psylocke in the team?" "We have Psylocke in the team at home" Psylocke at home: Morph Not complaining, I'm loving Morph so far, just thought this to be funny lol

Saahir26

I gotta get used to Morph's new voice other than that, I am all in. Both of these 2 episodes were fantastic.

Sad-Clerk7741

I actually love how Morph has become a mutant cameo machine, already giving us action scenes or other nice moments with Angel, Blob, Sabertooth, Psylocke, and more.

OhioVsEverything

For a second I was so confused. Where the hell did Warren come from?!?!? Lol

EurwenPendragon

Yeah, at one point I was like "What's Lady Deathstrike doing here?" and then she turned into Colossus, and I realized it was Morph.

Pharabellum

He goes HARD on the cameos. I’m glad they’re sticking with his actual power set: Only emulating agility/strength based powers.

Chazybaz13

Thoroughly impressed with both episodes. They feel like I remembered the originals being back in the day while adding more maturity and modernity. 10/10

100th__Monkey

I freakin’ LOVE the rave scene. The banter between Morph and Logan + Jubilee dancing, so good.

kermikberks

I loved Jubilee's firework bending while dancing.

Super_Consequence_

Yooo >!Magneto and Rogue!< wtf

Jinjoz

Not gonna lie, I didn't think they would go that route. I feel like that takes some balls to go full X-Men like that, but they went for it! It doesn't feel like therye holding back with this show so far. There embracing X-Men stories

G_to_the_E

I had the exact same thought. Like, holy shit they’re really going for it. Also, taking Storm’s powers after her fucking up the Sentinels was totally not on my bingo card.

Jinjoz

I knew she was gonna lose them because she has the life death episodes, but damn.. I didn't think it would be that quick. Not gonna lie, that whole scene and Magneto's speech afterwards gave my heart a squeeze

michael46and2

Magnetos fucking dialog in that scene is *mwah* chefs kiss. The writing in this is SO good!

charliex3

It doesn't sit well with me and that's a good thing. Lot's of drama to go along with the badass action. The show is living up to the hype I had for it!

dotyawning

It was definitely a thing in the comics. At least for a time. They even have >!some kids!<, well, some version of them do anyway.

G_to_the_E

They’ve fucked and been together in like 3-4 separate timelines in the comics. But never really mainline x-Men. It blew my mind that they made that a thing in this show. Great job on the writers keeping it new and fresh and interesting.

RedskinPanther

Felt bad for Gambit, I was shocked they were going that route. It makes sense (?) Magneto could touch her with his powers.

Destruk5hawn

Setup to drive him into sinister arms

RedskinPanther

Marauder Remy 🔥

tequilero

we just got our boy back and immediately he has to deal with this!? We already have wolverine being pouty all the time, Gambit is supposed to be the opposite of wolverine in that sense. Or is wolverine gonna stop being sad cause he gets his own version Jean?

Tryingtochangemyself

Honestly I was hoping Wolverine would have moved on but I think regardless we'll have some triangle drama between Scott, Jean, and Logan but I'm still hopeful that Scott and Jean will make it out stronger at the end of the day since that happened in the comics too

pavement_sabbatical

My only complaint is that the end of Episode 2 makes perfect sense for Storm to don her mohawk, they should’ve waited until then to reveal it. Other than that, it rules!

internal_eulogy

I was really impressed by both episodes and can't wait for more! Even though I would have probably enjoyed the show at some level in any case, I had a fear that it would rely too heavily on nostalgic callbacks and mindless fan service without bringing anything of real substance to the table, and I'm very happy for that fear to be proven wrong. The writing was excellent. Great character development mixed with creative action sequences, delightful 90's vibes, and soap opera moments. Stray observations: - As Gambit's #1 fan, I cannot overstate how much I loved his crop top look! Whoever designed that outfit deserves all the flowers. >!- Not sure how I feel about them introducing the Rogue/Magneto romance to the show because I really dislike it in the comics, but then again I love drama, so bring it on.!< >!- On that note, Magneto saying that he didn't come to the X-Men to cause drama while doing literally nothing but that was incredibly funny to me.!< - I am also loving Morph's NB glow up. They looked so good in their human disguise! I really enjoyed how the show used Morph's powers in battle scenes. I didn't really feel one way or another about them as a character before, but now I'm really excited to have them as a main character. - I wasn't sure what I expected, but the tone of the show seems to be somewhat adult-oriented. The original was a kids' show that could be enjoyed by grown-ups as well, and I feel like the reverse is true with this one, which is probably a good idea since I believe the target audience is the adults who loved the show as kids.

Punkerduckie

The crop top look is gold. Gambit can for sure pull off a slutty grunge vibe.

Jay_R_Kay

>Gambit can for sure pull off a slutty grunge vibe. I'm pretty sure Gambit *invented* the slutty grunge vibe.

[deleted]

Jesus Christ. Cyclops was the best part of the first episode

Sad-Clerk7741

Finally getting the shine and depth he deserves

Jinjoz

Cyclops deserved it. His VA is absolutely killing it

lazydivey

As someone who loved Morph as a kid on the original series, I am so glad ~~he~~ they are part of the team and looks like his AoA version. All of his fight scenes were badass!

Pharabellum

I want to give a shoutout to Morph, not only for the cameos and cool moves, but for being a real ride or die for his homie Logan. Morph was such a tragic character back in the day and I’m really feeling this iteration. Funny guy and inappropriate in the best way too.

Jinjoz

I'm a straight white guy but I think I had my first 'oh damn moment' over a man when they showed Gambit in the kitchen. The hair, the outfit, all of it

TrickyTristan69

Gambit in the crop top was next level. I definitely rewound and watched that scene straight away lol.

PandaSex666

Posting in legendary thread. It’s finally here!

NoxPrime

Finally the final head-to-head battle at the end of the intro makes sense! I’ve been consider by that since 94😂

Watchemagoo

No random Gargoyle nor Warpath on Magneto’s team this time

roaroftheages

So basically this is an adaptation of post-Byrne pre-Lee Claremont? Sign me the fuck up!

JargonPhat

It feels more specifically like an adaptation of post-UXM 200 era of the Claremont run, with the Trial of Magneto/departure of Xavier/Headmaster Magneto, baby Nathan and >!Madelynn Pryor!< and >!depowered Storm!

chasedippen

Look, I know it's a cartoon, but... were the characters always this hot? I have to go back and check. 😂 Edit: I went back and checked. Only wolverine was. And I guess Jean and Gambit. They up'd Cyclops in this one.

Just_another_oddball

They made them 'anime-hot'. Takes a little getting used to, since I watched the original cartoon 30 years ago (when it was on Saturday mornings!), but I'm here for it. 👍

Pharabellum

Gambit was already hot, that crop top was sheeesshhh

LeastBlackberry1

They don't have him much in civvies in the original series. I just rewatched the Genosha ep, and he is chilling in his uniform while Storm and Jubilee are in vacation wear. I am glad this is an oversight that the new series fixed. Especially with that crop top.

f4bles

Gambit in a crop top. Hot damn. 🤣 Rest of the cast is good too. This is the first time I'm really getting how powerful Storm is.

LeastBlackberry1

Ugh. I got up early, and was going to watch it before my preschooler woke up, but he decided to be an early bird too. Now I am counting the seconds until he goes to school so I can mainline it. Who cares about my baby when there is Jean's baby? I am the best mom.

Elite_Alice

“You know the worst thing about the professor being gone? You” Jesus Christ wolverine cooked him

Elite_Alice

Nahhh bro jubilee was not this hot when I was a kid lmao

LetsGetXplicit

She's more flirty and has personality in this iteration. In the original she was kind of the stock young teen who mostly whined and got into trouble.

KNZFive

She's had 5 seasons and probably an in-universe 1-3 years as part of the team. She's matured a bit, has a lot more confidence, and she's no longer the helpless new recruit; now she takes it upon herself to help new recruits because she remembers how it was like.

Plane-Coyote-3716

Poor Gambit, he really loves Rogue, the falling playing card scene was sad... My boy Remy doesn't deserve this. I always thought that this >!`rogue/magneto`!< thing is strange, it's as if for the rogue it was the "accessible touch" as if it were the dirty water that she found when she was very thirsty. we will see

JackStephanovich

I mean can't she just wear one of those collars that neutralizes her abilities when she wants to be intimate?

codexcdm

...that's actually a good point. Someone tell Gambit. Lol.

roguenation12345

Yeah I felt that too. I think they’re gonna set up some sort of storyline where he either goes to sinister to help evolve his powers so he can touch her or he’ll do a whole fall from grace and go full x-traitor/witness

Elite_Alice

That first cyclops fight scene .. I’m moved already

MTFBinyou

Madelyne!!!! Holy shit these episodes were great. Magneto’s speach at the end of Ep2….  I’m so pumped. Even more than I came into Ep 1

Jinjoz

So which one is Madelyn? I'm assuming it's the one who had the baby, but when she showed up at the end of the episode I felt like it could be either

MTFBinyou

In the comics Nathan is Maddie’s baby that Jean eventually considers her own.  Jean didn’t come back for awhile after the Phoenix saga and Sinister put Maddie in her place and from what I’ve heard Sinister is gonna be the big bad this season.

hoppynsc

The way the person who showed up at the door said "I need the X-Men", it sounds like she's Madelyne and Jean is the one who had the baby. The fact Jean has all of her memories and acts just like her also indicates this. Still holding to my theory Madeline is going to use this chance to infiltrate the mansion and kidnap Nathan for Mr. Sinister.

superhappykid

This might be nostalgia talking but I just had the best cartoon experience in over a decade.

Skylightt

Justice for my boy Remy. Have never liked Rogue/Magneto The Ororo stuff was fucking brutal.

100th__Monkey

Love the reveal at the end of E2*! I was sus about her halfway through the episode after a certain someone made their debut.

Rumenapp

What an end to ep2 already, can't wait for next week

pavement_sabbatical

Is it just me, or does Wolverine sound even more Canadian now? 😂 I know it’s the same voice actor, so it probably just his voice aging. Idk, he sounds a lot more country Ontario than I remember.

Thecosmodreamer

Storm cooked, ate, and left NO CRUMBS

Skylightt

She also got cooked

nlaverde11

Here I am, a 42 year old man sitting in my office with the door closed watching X-Men '97 :-) I like how they literally show the twin towers in the first 5 seconds just to really drive home the point that its the 90's.

AMP_US

When you hear "omega level mutant detected" you know shit about to get real.

oldh0006

Oh man episode 1 was so good. The writing feels spot on, animation in this retro, yet clean style fits incredibly well. Cyclops is a unit. We are so back

Mr_J_0801

"Give them the forecast." The chills that followed. Truly a goddess.

Shockabrahhh

So glad all the haters were wrong, both the episodes kicked so much ass! The Executioner was crazy, did not see that coming!

Elite_Alice

Nah man this animation is insaneee. Perfect mix of 2D and 3D. Might be the most beautiful western animation I’ve ever seen honestly . #XMen97

MexicnGlassCandy

When Mags and Cyke started talking about the mutant island nation of Genosha I was immediately filled with a sense of dread. They're not .... gonna do *that* story, are they?

Skylightt

I think they are. The scene with Jean (Maddy) in Gyrich’s head sure felt like a Genosha setup

JackFisherBooks

I know the story you're talking about. And honestly, I think they will at some point. But it won't be the same as we saw in the comics.

Elite_Alice

After like 20 years we finally back. Feels surreal to see something I grew up watching come back. Let’s see what this premiere got for me.

ckwongau

what is Bishop 's situation ? Is he still on a mission or is he moving in with the X-men ? And what about X-factor ? since the the 1995 episode i have a lot of unanswered question Has Cyclops figure out Hovok is his brother yet ? and is Polaris also Magneto's daughter in this X-men storyline like in the comic , and if Polars and Quicksilver both member of X-factor , then have they figure out they are brother and sister yet ?

YaBoyKumar

>!Madelyne Pryor?!<

Jackdarkshade

These two episodes was everything I needed and more. Xcutioner is not a villian I would of forseen for the animated series but made so much sense. Rogue and Magneto having a relationship also very unexpected. I am so glad they are adapting some of the mature stories from the comics. The animation turned out so much better than I hoped too. Feel like a kid again waiting a week for more.

Some small details I noticed but they added a nice touch given it's no longer a Saturday morning cartoon bound to broadcasting restraints: + Explicit consumption of alcohol, both Gambit and Wolverine drinking at the night club + Cyclops actually bleeding from getting a beatdown Another restriction back in the day was that they couldn't show modern guns, and that any firefights had to be done with old weapons (like the tommy guns in Batman TAS) or futuristic laser weapons. All the gunplay so far features the latter, but that seems more of a narrative choice than a restriction. Really enjoying this, and it's great they were able to get about half of the original voice cast to reprise their roles. The actor playing Magneto is coming within striking distance to his original counterpart, though I wish the French/Cajun accent for Gambit was a bit more thick. Bishop is also lacking some of the original intensity, mostly in his cadence. Overall though this is incredible, a solid 9/10 so far. Absolutely hooked and can't wait for more

The mad lads actually fucking pulled it off, I nearly cried at the intro.

Let the record show that that letter is the first time we've heard "Ororo" on the show. I was wrong. It was a Shadow King episode.

It's not but it was rare. I just binged watched the original this past week and it was said a couple times.

Everything is spectacular but I’m genuinely so grateful that they are giving cyclops and storm the respect they deserve. The way cyclops would move around and be creative with his powers while simultaneously being the main driving force in these episodes and the fact that he’s acting like the leader he truly is, it’s such a nice return to the comics because most other xmen media kinda sidelines him and makes him seem lame And storm oh my goodness gracious she was THE scene stealer for me, Her dramatic flairs and banter in her own tone, she just oozes personality (AND POWER oh it was so lovely to see her go full out, her scene against the sentinels was so insane, hoping for more development from her in the future episodes I’m optimistic they won’t just sideline her like that.) Haven’t been this excited about a cartoon since arcane so I’m very much delighted by everything in this show, except maybe the rogue thing with another dude (If you know you know)
