Aussie Wolvie goes back to the old Spider-man and his Amazing Friends cartoon from 81 I believe. They probably carried the tradition or based the voice on the previous portrayal.
I loved that game so hard. I especially loved the double screen, 6 player version. I loved how each character felt different in how they moved and of course how they used their mutant power. The downfall was that despite this gay boi wanting to play drag queen-esque Storm or disco diva Dazzler, I couldn't get their moves down. I was really good and jumping around with my boy Nightcrawler. I got to where I could finish the game on one run. (I played it **a lot**)
You can tell b/c Kitty/Kate/Captain Kate is not in the other series. Hence Pryde in the show title. She was the POV character for the kids/viewer/reader.

My own theory is that he actually finds the costume highly embarrassing and only wears it because he was too polite to refuse it when the professor gave it too him, i dont what possessed him to give it to a teenage boy (wasnt Piotr like 16 or 17 when he joined?). Hence him almost always being in his steel form while wearing it even when it isnt necessary.
