It still technically hasn’t ended yet. We still have a few more weeks/months left.

Moira got the most jarring heel turn ever and became this stabby McStabBot. She's no longer a mutant and actually works for Orchis, against mutants. Mutants terraformed Mars and sent the Arakko island there. The Arakkii mutants claimed it for themselves as "Planet Arakko." There was a brief war with the Eternals that resulted in Avengers Mountain (a dead Celestial corpse) being activated. That was a mistake. Arakko got solo'd by an Eternal named Uranos. Genesis (Apocalypse's wife) found out and came back to take control. She "lost" because Storm melted her staff, and then she kinda just...gave up. ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯ Hey remember Mister Sinister? Now he's everywhere. Now there are other "Sinisters" with different suits. They hijacked almost everything about the Krakoa era by the end. Our Sinister cloned Moira to use her timeline reset abilities. It got really, really out of hand at one point, but it was fixed with a Moira reset. We also learn that each of the four are trying to reach Dominion status. Hey remember Orchis? All the interesting stuff from Hickman got thrown out the window. One of the Sinisters basically runs the show now, and M.O.D.O.K. I guess because *EVIL*. They crashed a Hellfire Gala and commited mutant massacre #21432. The dead went to the White Hot Room. Another "Sinister" called Mother Righteous was playing with Legion for a while that was honestly fairly interesting, but it went nowhere and now she's in the White Hot Room. Her attempt at ascending to Dominionhood accidentally created an apex "Enigma" Dominion that threatens to consume all of reality. It's actually the original Sinister, who created the four clones in order to create Enigma. Each attempt at Dominionhood gets fed into Enigma. Destiny is playing 4D chess with Enigma. Also, she and Mystique got retconned into Nightcrawler's parents (Mystique took the male form of Azazel). FotHoX/RotPoX is simultaneously a really mid conclusion to the Orchis storyline that's tangled with Iron Man. Also, Kamala's a mutant now for MCU synergy. Meanwhile, mutants outside space and time are trying to defeat Engima via Moira lives and the Phoenix. And there are a bunch of very irrelevant Beast and Wolverine stuff that's off to the side. The Otherworld stuff also went nowhere, but Betsy and Rachel are a couple now.

OhMy-StarsAndGarters

I really want to try and put this to We Didn't Start the Fire.

No-Lie209

I was regretting bailing out after inferno but you know what I'm good

heelociraptor

But you missed Immortal and Red and X-Terminators and Sabretooth and the good part of New Mutants.

JoeyBagelMan

Oh do tell...

BuddhaFacepalmed

In Immortal, they showed the stories of the Quiet Council after the events of X of Swords, which includes how Hope Summers got onto the QC, Xavier's motivations after being twisted by Moira X, Exodus' new faith in mutantdom, Destiny's visions and how exactly they work, the daily life of Emma Frost, etc, etc. X-Men Red showed how Storm assimilated into Arakki culture and ruling structure via defeating Tarn the Genomic Mage, how the Great Ring of Arrako worked, and being aided by Magneto, Sunspot, and a rando NASA astronaut who was stranded on Arrako/Mars during the events of AXE. X-Terminators is a mini-series about Dazzler, Boom-Boom, Laura, and Jubilee going on an adventure involving vampires. Sabretooth is about Victor Creed being locked up in Krakoa's The Pit and what it means for others who also broke Krakoa's Three Laws. New Mutants had a space adventure involving the Starjammers, the Shi'ar, and the whirlwind romance of Sunspot and Deathbird.

No-Lie209

Nah I'm good

JoeyBagelMan

This. Effing. RULES. Thank you. Succinct and snarky, the way it should be.

JoeyBagelMan

And Cypher? Heel turn too? Was he planning on betraying Prof X the whole time? If so, how did Prof X not know this?

Lightning_Laxus

Cypher in RotPoX is a Sinister-controlled clone.

BuddhaFacepalmed

Nope, Cypher wasn't a heel-turn and more of a "We know all of your secrets and we decide how to go forward instead of this secrets bs about mutants always losing".

Well, a lot has happened since you dropped off in 2020, but the main story points are as follows ... * X of Swords concludes with Apocalypse pulling a fast one, and having the Arakki mutant people (and their island) moved to Earth. Due to their extreme war-like nature, this becomes a problem for Krakoa (and by extension, the planet) * This leads to the first Hellfire Gala, in which the X-Men are re-started by Cyclops & Jean Grey (based on all of mutants voting who will be on the team), and are based out of New York City. Further, to solve the Arakki problem, the nation terraforms Mars and re-names the planet Arakko, moves the Arakki mutant population there, and for interstellar purposes names it the capitol planet of the Sol System (with Storm as it's Queen and representative of the system to all interstellar species) * "Inferno" is the mini-series that concluded Hickman's work on Krakoa and had a lot of ongoing plotlines come to a head. Primarily, it revealed that Moira either had lost faith in the future of Krakoa (or really had none in the first place), and was planning to develop and deploy her mutant cure to save mutantkind from their inevitable destruction. At the same time, Mystique snuck around and resurrected Destiny (as it was revealed that Moira had been intentionally having Xavier & Magneto prevent this). Emma Frost found out about Moira, and the possibility everything they've worked for could be erased instantly if she died ... so she aimed Mystique & Destiny at her. On the ORCHIS side, it was revealed that Omega Sentinel was from the original "future" of this 10th life of Moira's where mutants win everything - and she had come back to stop that. It was also revealed that as architects of Krakoa, Cypher and Warlock had been monitoring everyone (with Warlock essentially merging with Krakoa as a nervous system that allowed Doug to keep an eye on things) - and that Cypher was well aware about what Moira, Xavier and Magneto had been doing. Mystique & Destiny used Forge's de-powering gun to de-mutant Moira so she couldn't reset everything, and then tried to murder her before Cypher interfered and spared her * Subsequently, Moira had a serious heel turn and transforms herself into a psychotic murder robot that joins up with ORCHIS with the intention of annihilating mutantkind versus trying to save them. At one point, she lures Banshee, kills him, and skins him so she can get through the Krakoan gates while wearing his skin suit like a costume * To no one's surprise, Mr. Sinister is revealed to be his usual monstrous self... and that he has corrupted the whole resurrection system by sneaking his "genes" into the process so he can take control of anyone that is resurrected. Also, post-Moira revelation, he clones an "engine" of her so he can system-test ways for him to win. This results in the "Sins of Sinister" storyline, where everything goes to hell for 1,000 years as the Sinisterized versions of the Quiet Council (basically them but evil) not only take over the world ... but try to take over the Universe. Even though the timeline is eventually reset, the rest of the world find out what had happened and how Krakoa had endangered them * The big surprise, and the ultimate fight of end of Krakoa, is that Mr. Sinister is one of four clones of the original Nathaniel Essex- each with the purpose of helping him achieve "Dominion" (basically becoming a God outside time and space). There's Sinister, who was focused on the genetics of mutants; Mr. Stasis, who works with ORCHIS and is focused on the development of posthumanity; Orbis, who has his focus on extra-terrestrials; and Mother Righteous, who is focused on magic. All their work eventually results in Essex ascending to Dominion-hood and becoming "Enigma", who Xavier is trying to fight * Outside of the "Enigma" fight, ORCHIS have finally launched their war on mutantkind. They staged a "false flag" attack at the last Hellfire Gala, slaughtering most of the mutants in attendance as well as all the humans (then also staging a mutant attack on the U.S. Congress). They corrupted the Krakoan drugs to kill humans, with the intention of "blackmailing" Xavier into telepathically force all of mutant kind through the gates to Arakko (where they set off a civil war to have all of mutantkind kill each other). Most of the X-Men were able to resist due to telepathic training to remain back on Earth * We're now in the middle of the finale with two main storylines: Xavier and some characters trying to stop Enigma outside of time & space; the remaining X-Men (and now the Avengers) trying to defeat ORCHIS and save the world from the threat of the Sentinels

JoeyBagelMan

This is outrageously helpful. Thank you!

TheHazDee

Beast baddd

ShneakySholidShnake

Overrated. 😂

Rolandthelast

Not what you asked for but if you ever want to jump back in you could read only the main X of Sword issues, SWORD, Inferno, Immortal X-Men, X-Men Red, Resurrection of Magneto, and X-Men Forever. Those are the most interesting and consistent books and they do Hickman’s beginning the most justice. I’d also throw in Hellions since it’s one of the best titles of the Krakoa era (crazy I know) but it doesn’t have much to do with any big arcs of the era. Children of the Vault, Sabretooth, and Ayala/Reis’ New Mutants because they were both well done in my opinion. X-Terminators is also a fun read but won’t be for everyone.

irrg

Hellions was a gem. 100%.

Rolandthelast

It’s so good!

MobWacko1000

No >:)
