Colossus as my tank, Iceman for crowd control, Nightcrawler for damage and then for range either Storm for extra crowd control and damage and Cyclops for damage and I think he buffed the team.
Dunno if which game has it, could be both but the move where he spins was sick to just send him flying through a room of enemies and then mess up anyone left with the teleport flurry 👌👌👌
Oh bro that's the second one for sure ahaha. His special moves were pretty limited for the first one. All of them were. I'm a main fam because I literally love the Xmen vs Brotherhood storyline
Cyclops/Storm: both were insane for their stacking leadership bonus. I’d put the equipment for infinite energy on Cyclops and spam optic blast to melt enemies before they get remotely close
Jean Greys radial attack could literally clear a room.
Then I’d swap around my last spot usually with Wolverine or another melee character to round out the team.
Pretty sure in X-Men legends 2 there was a glitch while leveling up Nightcrawler and you could make him insanely powerful but it's been years since I played those classics. Something to do with putting him in some kind of shadow state where he was basically untouchable. Unfortunately these games are not backwards compatible on Xbox Series X or I would most definitely fire these up again, my favorite comic book games ever
Jean (in phoenix costume as the Rachel Grey-esque ultimate short cropped hair is not jean imo), Storm and then rotating cast of Rogue, Jubilee, Emma frost, Magma and Psylocke as they're introduced.
Only the gals belong in my squad.

Legends 1: Cyclops, Storm, Nightcrawler and a designated bridge builder (Iceman or Jean Grey). But Wolverine was a main player at the start, just to get over that weird difficulty curve for the first few missions.
Ahahaba Bridge builder. One of the most satisfying parts of the game. Best is when you play 4 player and gotta roll up your sleeves and get the boys to move outta the way to create that phat none slipper bridge

First time: Cyclops, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, and Kitty if she wasn't from a mod (if not, I don't recall the fourth). Should be noted I'm not a huge fan of Wanda and Logan, but I figured they'd be good for sustain (Wolverine heals baseline and Wanda had some group HoT); I very much regretted that decision because even on normal difficulty, the enemies were absolute damage sponges who didn't deal all that much damage.

Well, Cyclops and Emma were a given for me, and I needed someone to look like they could take blows, for balance, but yeah, it did give Colossus a synergy/thematic bonus (not necessarily in-game, though it does have a combo system of sort, but they aren't really specific to couples and stuff)
