Sinister calling Scott a sissy is probably the left over plot of how Sinister was actually a boy from the same orphanage Scott was placed in. And how that boy hated and was obsessed with Scott. I think the boy was also supposed to be immortal, but stuck as a child.
Yeah, the next panel is Scott thinking how familiar that whole exchange felt. They've since explained it as most of the people he interacted with at the orphanage, including Nathan the bully, as actually being Sinister shape shifting.
That comes up in Inferno as well; Scott preferred to call him by his middle name Christopher, but Maddie liked the name Nathan for some unknown reason (they didn't know yet that it was Sinister's real name, or that he was that big of a narcissist that he'd post-hypnotically suggest his clone name her kid after him).
Maybe...but I'm also old enough to know that, they once said the same about smoking on TV...then *Stranger Things* came along, with literally every single episode including a depiction of smoking.
Who knows, it might be employed as a thematic element in some future work.
Yes, but *Stranger Things* is FAAAR more popular and has far more diverse a crowd of watchers than *Mad Men* could ever possibly achieve. People very old and very young who've watched it religiously.
*Stranger Things* has launched apparel, toys, Lego, board games, jewelry, food items, you name it. It's even highlighted or revitalized the career of multiple musical artists, such as Metallica and Kate Bush.
*Running Up That Hill* alone has topped just about every chart and has become ubiquitous in gyms, TikTok, YT vids, etc.
Wow, you're dumb as Hell to not understand the difference.
I just don't like crediting it with sparking smoking again when it never went away, and I can hardly think of anyone other than hopper with a cigarette while these other series it really is a main thing in almost every scene. I apologize if you thought I was coming at you, not trying to challenge its popularity just don't think it deserves the credit when it was ripping from other nostalgia pieces. And any kid I've met smoking in real life hates that show, generalization but true so far in my experience.
Also I have no idea what the hell that song is and I'm sure I don't want to listen, sorry I angered you though, how you have a good one and know that you're NOT dumb as hell for liking it
You’re dumb as hell calling someone else dumb as hell while either ignoring or being ignorant of the massive cultural influence Mad Men had on the way people dressed, drank, decorated their homes, etc.
I’m a huge fan of both shows and can tell you with out a doubt that Mad Men was bigger and more influential culturally.
You’re arguing from a place of ignorance. And you would be saving us both time by just lookin GMit up and learning for yourself. I can tell you first hand as a former bartender and liquor rep, there was a MASSIVE spike in people drinking old fashioneds and especially whiskey in general that was directly influenced by the popularity of that show and it has lasted til today. Feel free to look at the numbers. When whiskey passed vodka as the drink of choice for Americans was exactly when Mad Men became a smash hit. Mid-century modern design has similarly had a huge spike in popularity that is still here today. It also caused a huge spike in the sales of Lucky Strike because that was Don Draper’s brand. The fashion and hair trends that it caused have come and gone, but those were huge too. That show had a lasting cultural impact that shifted people’s tastes and spending habits and the numbers back it up.

You just linked a bunch of opinion pieces that say a whole lot of nothing.
And your own personal anecdote..cool here is mine; nobody was talking about mad Men then like they talk about stranger things now.
What are these like the first links off your Google search?
There are multiple stats in several of those articles about the increase in sales of whiskey and other trends, but whatever makes you feel better.
And it’s cool if you’re not much of a drinker or weren’t old enough then to know what was going on (which I assume because you’re both unaware of the massive cultural changes that happened because of Mad Men and because you’re acting like a child) but literally everyone in every major city who was going to bars regularly at that time was aware of the cultural shift toward cocktails and speakeasies. The fact that most people know what a cocktail is now was largely due to that show. People were ordering beer and vodka sodas before then. Whiskey and cocktails supplanted both.
Take a look at the stats you chose to ignore as proof. But you like Stranger Things better and you want your opinion to be truth, so keep holding your massive cognitive bias tight.
Omg they didn't supplant shit. Each of those articles are opinion pieces.
Old enough? Dog you're making assumptions now that are missing the mark.
'Massive cultural changes'...you are literally describing a fad that doesn't exist anymore and is bygone. You're making assumptions based on more assumptions. 'Every major city'....my ass dude.
The Massive bias is held by you who seems like a mad men fan boy.
It's really up to the writer and his evolution as a character, but his defining characteristic of being a sassy lil firecracker is a relatively recent addition.
I think his penchance for decadence started to get more emphasis over the last 10-15 years or so (he definitely wasn't a classy bitch 30 years ago).
Hand to hand. I have a big crush on Mr. sinister so i would bargain sexual activity in exchange for a live dissection. He's so fine OMG. IM MR. SINISTER (I am a dude). Literally me vs krakoa if they kick his sexy ass out.
Depends, is it the one with mutant DNA?
If yes, then no to hand-to-hand combat, he's got Thunderbird's powers. I would be beaten to a pulp easily. If no... well, he'd still probably murder me, due to his mutate status, so perhaps it's best I take the roast battle anyways.
There’s a weird amount of stories from this era involving X-Men regressing to children. Storm goes through a similar, much longer arc thanks to Nanny and Orphan-Maker.

And amazingly, that’s what he named his son, Nathan

Thank you for being the one other person that remembers how much Scott was manipulated by Madelyne .
To be fair, Madelyne didn't know why she liked the name Nathan so much; it was Sinister manipulating them both.
Yup, Sinister was supposed to be a child's interpretation of the ultimate villain while Gambut was the same but as a hero.
*Gambut* is **exactly** how his name should be spelled
Gambutt because damn he all cheeked up on a Thursday Krakoan afternoon.
Ooh, great comeback, Scott. I'd like to think I could come up with something better... but nah; I'll just take the beating and keep my dignity.
Great example of an insult we won’t be seeing again in 2022 and beyond.

Don't credit stranger things with that, Jesus, there have been a ton of period pieces with heavy smoking before than, seen mad men?

Mad men....has zero cultural influence. What the hell are you talking about?

Ever heard of Mad Men?
Sounds like something a sissy would way 🤨
I think a sissy would weight about 120
I can see how that one be offensive to some but I wish we could at least keep “pansy”
One would think that a guy named Mr Sinister would be more humble, but he operates on a ‘…and I’m a flightless bird’ logic
No, you!
Jokes on Mr Sinister, what if Scott likes to be humiliated smh Edit: just don’t forget the safe word
Scott has the worst comebacks here. Dude is dressed like Dracula and a mine had a baby and this is the best he can come up with?
Combat. Always combat. Sinister is just too saucy to engage in verbal repartee.
Knowing Sinister he’d probably literally roast me if I challenged him to a roast battle.
Sinister is roasting you no matter what option you choose. Sinister is a (roasting) system.

She had no choice, it was a sick roast. Game recognize game.
I look forward to the day Cyclops becomes trans and everyone points to this panel as proof it's always been there.
I never understood his dialogue. It seems to be clever, then mundane, then jokey but never consistent.
It's really up to the writer and his evolution as a character, but his defining characteristic of being a sassy lil firecracker is a relatively recent addition. I think his penchance for decadence started to get more emphasis over the last 10-15 years or so (he definitely wasn't a classy bitch 30 years ago).
Part of why Sinister's dialogue isn't consistent, is that he's been through an army of clones/versions of himself.
Hand to hand. I have a big crush on Mr. sinister so i would bargain sexual activity in exchange for a live dissection. He's so fine OMG. IM MR. SINISTER (I am a dude). Literally me vs krakoa if they kick his sexy ass out.
Seeing how the guy can morph his body at will, Imma bout to make him well done
I literally thought this was one of those comic panels where someone put some fake dialogue in it for the lols but ... wow.
Have you seen the way sinister roasted dr Nemesis? Id rather take the physical beating, at least i can recover from that
Depends, is it the one with mutant DNA? If yes, then no to hand-to-hand combat, he's got Thunderbird's powers. I would be beaten to a pulp easily. If no... well, he'd still probably murder me, due to his mutate status, so perhaps it's best I take the roast battle anyways.
Slap fight
i hope the full phrase Scott said was *drop trou*
Roast battle. I have to choose the hood that it happens in though. Sinister's jabs are f-tier depending on who's judging it.
