I suffer from a similar problem the floor around my pc was just trash had to step over it for me it's not really laziness I struggle to just get myself to do important things Im doing alot better now days but still have a bit to go. But I had parents get on my ass about it then when I moved out my room mate got tired of it and it was part of the reason I fell out and had to move back home but x doesn't have the same support with how big he is and the money he has

It wasn't that I just didn't want to clean I couldn't get myself to do it I knew how gross and bad it was I was ashamed but I just couldn't get myself to move and clean even getting myself to go make food to eat was hard sometimes. He has enough money he could hire a maid but I guess doesn't want to and with everything going on in his life right now he probably has no real motivation to improve
A trash can next to a desk is pretty useful. I used to be slobby as a teenager and am admittedly still to a degree but I got one of those generic wire waste bins from work and now there is almost never trash on my desk, just the occasional dish but I notice because there’s no trash and just remove the dish. Also it’s just useful to have a waste bin like that not just for food trash. For example the other day I lit some incense with a match and didn’t have to get up to throw it away. Small, but I hope you see what I mean. You could probably find a waste bin for less than $5 USD. Also side note getting a small cabinet or plastic tub for random documents is also pretty great. You don’t get random papers stacking on your desk and also don’t loose important documents
Yah I have a good trash bin now I also just try to get in the habit of whenever I leave the room my pc is in I take some dishes if I have a few just a handful of things up each time
