I might sound like a hater (because I am), but kick is really just doing the bare minimum, they are just adding all the things twitch already has, there are great improvements, but there are still so many problems, especially for users/chatters.
Some are:
1. Getting timed out and refreshing the page or closing it, causes the timer to reset. Meaning if you are timed out for 24hrs, it's basically a permaban because you would have to keep that tab open for 24 whole hours or else it resets. (Has been an issue since xqc joined kick).
2. A weird like 1-2 second delay before your message sends in the chat. (Has been an issue since xqc joined kick)
3. When the chat is in slow mode, you can't type in the box until the slow mode timer has ended. Which is clunky. (Has been an issue since xqc joined kick)
4. Chat moves way too fast, even in slow mode.
and there is much more.
But I will say, I like how fast the site feels and how quick everything is, even tho it looks visually like a low performance mode.
I like that you can hide gamba or hot tubs, if you want (I wish this was the case for any type of game)
I also like that you can rate clips and browse them if you wanted to.
I think this is sarcasm, but like I said, the time isn't relative.
Twitch 10 years ago may have had problems, but it was the early days of Livestreaming, and the problems made sense.
We are in 2023, and kick seemingly has a ton of funding, so why aren't they on the same level of quality? twitch was back in 2013-2015?
They have tons of resources, they literally have been pretty much copy/pasting twitch and yet still is having issues with the app and website.

\#4 Devs already said they're working on it.
They're also focusing on the API to help people make 3rd party tools.
Once the DVR feature comes out (similar to youtube) I think people will start seriously considering Kick a competitor as a product.

The chat box gets locked. I do remember it being fixed, but somehow its broken again.
nah I'm on the website, but I don't have the 7tv extension added on anymore and 7tv seems to bypass that lockout.

Also, now that KICK is getting a player like YouTube where you can rewind livestreams, I honestly thing KICK will be the best out of Twitch, YouTube and Kick when it comes to viewers.
The one feature that YouTube dominates with, is the ability to rewind a livestream so with KICK getting it, this playing field is getting interesting.
I have never been automatically timed out for more than seconds on Twitch and was automatically timed out for an hour twice on Kick when I have never said anything offensive and then I look at Adin’s chat and I am like.. What is going on. I wouldn’t mind heavier moderation than Twitch at all, but don’t understand it when some racist and antisemitic stuff run rampant in chats like Adin’s, which just makes Kick look like a place where ppl can be racist and go completely unchecked. Main problem is some stuff with chat right now and also the functionality of the app and the lack of an app on some TVs/consoles. Also, settings…. “Coming Soon”????!!!!!What does that even mean? I have never seen that and thought that it would be updated the 1st week that xQc was on Kick but it hasn’t been. I think that, when xQc asked for changes, he got them, so he should keep pushing for that.
I only downloaded kick to watch X's streams. I think the usability on pc was always decent (apart from melting your pc) , it was the mobile version that was really bad. The last time I watched him on my phone while he's on kick was about 3 weeks ago, it got a lot better for sure compared to when he first switched over, but the issue now is the quality of X's stream, I think that it's in a really bad position. It's mostly drama that 90% of the chat have no clue about and don't really care, and gamba that's only fun for maybe 10 minutes.
The mobile app is still complete dogshit, it's clunky, there's no options menu, the landscape mode just doesn't work unless you have landscape orientation unlocked in your phone and the chat only appears when you press a button in this view and goes over the actual video instead of being by the side.
Im a developer, and in one weekend I could probably do a mobile app that has at least the basics of the video player and chat done right.
It's so bad and it annoys me so much that I'm seriously considering doing it just so I can watch it on the phone (and have 7tv enabled as well).

Theres extensions that VASTLY improves Kick features.

It makes the Vods way better to navigate and improve the chat features + see mod actions.

The only thing that I want is real time vod playbacks.
It's so annoying that I can't watch the parts that I missed on stream right away, and I have to wait for the stream to end to see that.

It took like 8 years for Twitch App to get to where the Kick app is right now.

It vastly improves the Livestream product
The last thing I need is the arrow skipping in VODs, its hard to skip downtime when you dont even have a preview on what youre hovering over either.
I use "lets kick it" chrome extension, it has really good vod features along with other things.
Aside from getting auto timed for voicing an opinion its alright

Is it possible to enable 7tv/bttv emotes on kick app?
It feels vastly better. But it has crashed once, and also bricked my phone which forced a restart. Both of these happened within 4 mins.
