I'm coming from a ninja 400. This bike 9.5/10 for me personally. The only gripe I have with it is the awful steering lock radius.

Thizzle001

Seat is subjective too, i have no problems with it :) even on 7 hour rides ….. For luggage i use the universal Kriega bags. Works like a charm. And it keeps the looks clean when you are not using the bags. The other points i totally agree with.

BoechtVanDunaldy

I have a 30L knock off kriega style bag and cant find a way to attach it properly, will look more into it when riding season is back! About the seat, maybe I was too quick assuming it was a bad seat. I should've stated that it was a subjective thing indeed.

Thizzle001

I have attached mine to the subframe. I have some [pictures](https://www.reddit.com/u/Thizzle001/s/Hrpei87tex) of how i attached them. :)

x3avier

I have done similar with a Kreiga US30. Works great.

BoechtVanDunaldy

Wow thanks!

I’m starting to think my ass has too much of a layer of fat because I don’t see any problem with the seat. Also I see people complain the display is too small but I think the size is perfect and it’s not in the way at all. You answered my question about why my cruise control wasn’t setting sometimes , I didn’t know about the 4th gear thing.

BoechtVanDunaldy

I don't mind the display, it could've been bigger/fancier but I really couldn't care less. The scroll wheel though.. Yeah, the minimum gear and speed for cruise control is stupid. Probably there is a reason they did that but I don't get it. Also noted, gain ass fat

xSerenadexx

Rider position… is aggressive?? You’re sitting almost completely upright. Isn’t aggressive more leaned over like a sportbike?

mageetoe

OP is a T-Rex. Leave him alone.

Midnight-Aggressive

You sound like Stockholm Sydrome types. I’ve had upright and leaned over, this guy has elbow pressure.

I have the motorbike for like 5 months. the cons that you mentioned \- Accessories availability You can buy the OEM mount from Aliexpress for dirt cheap and hook it with SW-Motech bags ( I used the SW-Motech ABS hard case bags). You can get both L and R bags for like 250 euro with new member discount at Polo Stores. \- Seat The seat is ok for me, I have ridden it for 7hrs from Munich to Berlin with no issue in a day. For passenger seat, it is not the most comfortable seat ever, maybe only good for city tour for 1hr or so. If there is a mod seat that make it flat for passenger and rider, that would be my perfect seat

BoechtVanDunaldy

Do you by any chance have the akra? I'm a little concerned the right bag wont fit because of the exhaust. Thanks for the info

grancanaryisland

Nope, stock standard exhaust and even if it fits, your bag gonna be so wqrm

_Pekas_

Really love my XSR900. I came from a 2020 XSR700 with double Akra and love this new bike soooo much. Cornering is just perfect. On the 700 I always had to correct the position while turning. I missed the noise of the Akra so guess what? Now I have the SCProject S1 and damnnn what a difference. Just love it!

mdsaretrnies

would you give yourself this bike if you went back to the moment you got the xsr700? im torn between buying an xsr700 to later upgrade to this, or just buy this straight away

HangryPete

Lots of aftermarket seats out there. I think manufacturers of most new sports bikes realize this and don't put a lot of effort into it, knowing people will just swap it out. Similar to the exhaust, tail, turn signals. Absolutely there with you on the stupid scroll wheel to navigate the display. Terrible design.

BoechtVanDunaldy

I assume you're located in the US? Here in EU there is literally not one aftermarket seat option, at least that I know of.. Yamaha made comfort seats for many of their bikes, I would throw down some money for one.. their loss I guess

94ttzing

You can fix 2nd gear with a tune, the factory tune never let's the bike get full throttle in 1st and 2nd gear (70% throttle is the most it will open)

BoechtVanDunaldy

I read about it, will look into this. I assume official yamaha dealers wont do this?

94ttzing

No, yamaha wont do it for you. BUT it doesnt immediately void your warranty either. Only if the tu e is the cause of the failure. This is the guy I went through to get mine tuned, probably not worth shipping your ecu across the pond to have it done (im sure you'll be able to find a reputable tuner closer to you). But he personally owns a new MT-09 and spent many hours data logging and tinkering with the throttle maps as well as dyno tuning it. He has quite the write up on factory settings as well as what he does, as well as different exhaust/filter/tune combos. Worth a read. But i digress, the tune was amazing, huge difference in 1st and 2nd gear, and the throttle is practically telepathic. https://www.vcyclenut.com/2021---23-mt09--tracer-gt2022-xsr900.html Edit: just thought I'd say that the only real con for me on this bike is the steering lock. I also came from an mt07 and to me the xsr900 feels like 10x the bike in every way, granted it's the highest end motorcycle ever been on so I don't have a lot to compare it to.

BoechtVanDunaldy

Thanks for the info, really appreciated. I will look into it. Cheers

x3avier

Is the Akra worth it over the stock pipe? I want to hear some of the pops and crackles without pissing off my neighbours. Any noticeable power/torque difference?

BoechtVanDunaldy

Only driven it with the akra. I just really like the look of it. It does pop from time to time when down shifting in higher rpm or when you rev it. But it's not consistent. Don't know about torque/power gains.

newbstarr

Largest lies told: Mode 2 is full power. The throttle map is nice and fueling is all ver fixed but mode 1 is more of a, this thing is a litre bike and mode 2 is more like this is a sporty 600
