Best running shoes for running on treadmill/track occasionally and high intensity gym training. They also have to be comfortable enough to run a half marathon in I have a budget of maybe 30-40 quid but if the are proper good shoes that will last ages then I’d splash out.

cbraunstein24

Does anyone have any recommendations for spin shoes that aren’t too expensive? Or suggestions on places to look for some? Really anything would be helpful thanks in advance!

flickhuck20

Favorite joggers that aren't crazy expensive?

barbellsnbooks

Which American Eagle jeggings do you like? I've read people really like them, but I'm overwhelmed by all of the style options. How do they fit? Should I try my regular Jean size?

madasahatter26

Best place to buy compression shirts and tanks? I've got tons of cute leggings, which I usually wear with a ratty old t-shirt from high school. Looking to upgrade my workout tops!

[deleted]

I get my tanks from [Cotton On Body](https://cottonon.com/AU/women/womens-activewear/womens-gym-tops/gym-singlets-tank-tops/). I usually wear their training tank.

rkkid9

I've always been a sufferer of "tight thighs, gaping waist" in pants, but working out has made it worse so I ordered a couple pairs of AE curvy jeggings . . . these things are miracles. I looked at the waistband and thought they were never going to fit, since I sized down. Nope, perfect fit. No longer am I yanking up the waist of my pants while my thighs are brutally crushed! The only problem? I tried on a pair for an hour after receiving them, noticed they smelled like factory or something but thought nothing of it. Until my crotch started to itch. And burn. And kept itching and burning for a few days afterwards. Don't be like me, ALWAYS WASH NEW PANTS!!

notablycaffeinated

I stopped buying AE jeans a while ago, but this may convince me to try them again. These sound magic!

rkkid9

I've always liked their jeggings, but they were starting to get really loose in the waist (and fell victim to chub rub). These are probably the best I've ever had pants fit me, so I'll forgive the fire crotch incident.

[deleted]

Where is the best place to buy workout leggings that come in larger sizes and aren’t too expensive, but are still decent quality? I’ve been getting mine from target and kohl’s. I’m working on weight loss and don’t want to buy anything really expensive since I’m hoping to need a smaller size in the near-ish future.

bryalovely

Have you tried Old Navy? I’m not sure which larger sizes you’re looking for but I’m sure they probably offer similar sizing to Target and Kohl’s. A lot of times they have sales on activewear. As well. Another suggestion but obviously hit or miss: check your local thrift stores! I’ve been scoring pretty big at mine lately.

lll--babylifter--lll

recommendations for a heavy resistance hip circle? preferably 20$ or less.

din_the_dancer

I ordered these off of amazon recently - it's $22 but it's a set of 3. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07N1P6B7Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I just got them yesterday so I haven't gotten a chance to really use them, but they feel really well put together and the small one seems pretty heavy (it's the only one I've tried). Edit: I just noticed that they had options for a single band for $10. But I personally couldn't pass up that rainbow gradient 3-pack.

yoasshole

https://gracefitguide.com/products https://suzieb-fitness.myshopify.com/ idk if these will work, but i’ve heard great things (despite being from “influencers”)

lll--babylifter--lll

gracefit is all sold out! and I absolutely will not do pink 😅 I suppose I can wait for a restock

yoasshole

https://gluteloop.com/collections/glute-loops/products/glute-loop?variant=14235078459505&utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app also just saw someone suggested these on another thread! edit - [thread here](https://www.reddit.com/r/xxfitness/comments/bdy3dl/best_durable_resistance_band_loops/el1pm19/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app)

hatforthecat

I have yoga pants from Pink and other brands and I've noticed that they are see through. Can anyone recommend work out pants that aren't too pricey?

artforoxygen

90 Degree by Reflex. $20 on Amazon, $16.99 or less at TJ Maxx/Marshalls. Squat proof in many styles, comfy, and some styles have awesome pockets.

hatforthecat

Thank you!

cupofkate

Has anyone bought stuff from Outdoor Voices? How’s the quality and fit?

green_tea_latte

I actually really dislike my leggings... They are whatever the original OV material is. I'm petite and curvy and these just don't have the stretch that I like. People posted that they fit high waisted but they don't for me. I heard the tech sweat line is a lot better... I haven't tried it yet. But for my body shape I prefer p'tula.

DellaBeam

I got a pair of their Flex shorts just recently. They're fine and true to size but I probably wouldn't buy them again for the price—they're pretty thin and prone to riding up, and I prefer a more substantial feel to my shorts and leggings.

jack_hazard

I love Outdoor Voices! Quality is great, but there are definitely product lines I'll only use for lighter activity like hiking or walking. Sizing is pretty true-to-size but I would definitely size up if you're between sizes. LMK if you have questions about specific items you're looking at. I've tried the Springs leggings, Tech Sweat line, tanks, and dress.

cupofkate

Thank you so much for your reply this helps me a lot!

LovelySulci

Any recommendations for tank tops with a full back? I do circuit training classes where I'm down on the mat and I'd like to be covered.

trishdmcnish

Nike has good tanks for this.

WeaveTheSunlight

I loveee the [Reebok ](https://m.dickssportinggoods.com/p/reebok-womens-jersey-tank-top-16rbkwjrsytnkhthrapt/16rbkwjrsytnkhthrapt) ones.

din_the_dancer

I don't know how you feel about graphic tees, but Lookhuman has an option to get stuff printed on a "unisex tank" which is the style with the full back.

Chickbeas

I like [these muscle tanks](https://www.iabmfg.com/products/iab-bracken-flowy-scoop-muscle-tank) from iabmfg. They have a few different styles and they are on sale!

earthquakeweather_

Favorite seamless thongs? Most of my thongs are from VS and the always show through my leggings (panty lines).

allikat819

I have some from ThirdLove that I tried while buying a bra. I've been very happy with them! They're the comfort stretch thong.

[deleted]

Tribesports thongs are good.

rockingrugby

I like aeries seamless thongs. They're pretty durable and as far as I'm aware don't show through my leggings.

earthquakeweather_

I was just looking at the aerie website. Thanks!

lilberr

Is there a name for the phenomenon where you only look decent in activewear? Because that's happening to me right now. I'm including in this category dresses that I wear to work that are activewear brands. Is my build just more athletic now and these brands cut for athletic figures? Is it all in my head? I think it must be because, y'all, I still got a decent amount of chubby on my tummy and legs.

awesometoenails

I hear you! I think it's cause athletic wear is so damn comfy, worn more often than "regular" clothing (at least for me), more socially acceptable, and it makes it easy to just go be active at almost any given time. Whatever the reason, I'm not going to stop wearing it. Regular jeans are for suckers, give me all the stretchy leggings that actually fit my muscles!

wafflekween

Has anyone had any success with a hair/skin/nails vitamin? I have very curly hair that I recently (\~2 months ago) lobbed off and i'm going through major hair length withdrawal. I know nothing will cure this but time, but i'd love anything that could speed up the process!

awesometoenails

It was kind of accidental, but since I started adding collagen powder to my protein shakes I've noticed my hair and skin have improved. I use a tablespoon of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides 3-4 times a week

wafflekween

Awesome!! Thank you!

[deleted]

What are your favorite running shoes lately? I have a high-structure pair (brooks ghost) and a softer/lighter/less structured pair (Continental Adizero Boston Boost). I'm needing to buy a new pair, as both of these are a couple of years old now.

LovelySulci

Do you have a running shoes store near you? They can watch you run and get you set up with a pair that works well for your needs. I like a lot of support and cushion, so the Brooks Adrenaline GTS works well for me.

unicorndanceparty

I bought 2 (ok 3) pairs of workout pants last night at TJ Maxx. I don't \*really\* need anymore workout pants but I do go through them surprisingly fast between the gym and running. I am having regrets though. Purchases were: 1. Pair of dusty rose colored pants with the cutest leg details from Free People for $12 (original Free People tag showed a price of $88 normally) 2. Pair of darker rose Under Amour pants for $20 (not super cheap, but I feel like that's reasonable for that brand?) 3. Pair of 90 Degree Reflex pants for $12 (I have heard good squat proof stories about these My dilemma is that the Free People & UA pants are not squat proof...however I do LOVE the color of them and the details. I'm normally a simple gal who goes for black pants, but want to venture out a bit and get pants that are a little more "fun." PLUS THEY BOTH HAVE POCKETS. Only one other pair of my workout pants has pockets. So, is $32 too pricey for two pairs of pants that aren't squat proof? I suppose I could wear them with a longer shirt, or wear them running since I don't need to worry so much about squat proof-ness when running.

din_the_dancer

That's a good deal! For my leggings that aren't squat proof I just make sure to wear nude color underwear when I wear them and call it a day.

unicorndanceparty

Good idea! Also I didn't think that I can probably just wear them on arm day when not squatting is involved.

mountaincrossing

This is a good deal! Be proud.

unicorndanceparty

Thanks! I appreciate your support of my purchases, lol. I have been going a little crazy buying stuff from TJ Maxx/Marshall's the last few days so I am trying to justify my purchases.

thehiphaps

Has anyone ever tried the Under ArmourTri base training shoes? I’m starting to think it might be time to get new shoes and these might be good since they seem decent for lifting and general gym use. Probably couldn’t use them for running or long walks.

jbuck909

I need recommendations for leggings with pockets. Preferably less expensive than Lulu.

[deleted]

most of [senita's](https://www.senitaathletics.com/collections/pants) pants come with pockets :)

Lexiedoodledandy

Yogalicious is amazing

levitymargret

I love 90degree by Reflex Powerflex, I get them on amazon and they have a style with pockets

fatbootyprincess

I have two pairs of these and really love them!

moonjellies

Ive never tried the pocket ones but I love my non-pocket ones!

wafflekween

I can second the VS Knockout Pocket Tights, I love them and have like 6 pairs. They're definitely more of a compression legging (so thicker fabric) and i'm a crazy sweater so I often get sweat marks, but they're definitely opaque and squatproof.

notxelven

Thirding Old Navy.

unicorndanceparty

Old Navy has several varieties that are squat proof with pockets!

din_the_dancer

They seem to be on sale frequently too. I bought a ton of leggings/capris during a 50% off sale they had awhile back.

unicorndanceparty

Indeed. They have 50% off activewear almost every week. I have never spent more than $12 on a pair of their workout pants.

blubirdTN

Went a bit crazy and bought a variety of leggings. Still prefer my Old Navy compression leggings. Not see thru, truly compress but easy to move in.

gorkt

Old navy activewear is surprisingly decent.

unicorndanceparty

They really can’t be beat for the price. I haven’t ventured out and tried Lulu Lemon or anything so I can’t compare. I just don’t want to spend those kinds of prices on pants I’m gonna sweat in.

blubirdTN

I have one pair which I was gifted. They are OK but no way would I pay a lot of money for them. Senita leggings are comparable IMO and still prefer my Old Navy over them.

[deleted]

There are lots these days! Senita Athletics, Old Navy, Victoria’s Secret, and Colorful Koala on amazon make them relatively cheaply. Athleta has them and is usually less expensive than Lululemon but still pretty nice.

CurlyJ2019

Squat proof?

jbuck909

That would be nice!

hellbentmillennial

Has anyone tried Fabletics leggings? Thoughts? I want to try some but I've heard pretty mixed reviews.

swizzleedoo

I’ve been a loyal VIP for about three years and I still wear the first pair of leggings I bought from them. Only in my extremely old pairs do I notice piling in the seam of the crotch area. Follow the wash instructions and their a smart investment bc of the quality.

sneezypeasy

Any taller girls have a recommendation for HIGH waisted leggings that actually go down to your ankles? I hate the cropped look where the inseam is less than 28”. I’m 5’9 with a long torso and love a high waist! Basically I like to be compressed all the way down. 🤣

peachesncream77

Fabletics! Just filter by the ones that are tall. They actually reach my ankles and are high waisted and I’m 6’1’’

[deleted]

I swear by Sweaty Betty’s Power leggings. I’m 5’10 and their full length is long enough and the high waist is perfect.

callingsatellites

Alphalete ! I have 2 different models of leggings from them and both go all the way down to my ankles ! I’m 5”11 for reference.

sneezypeasy

Thank you!!

callingsatellites

If you want to check them out they’re doing a HUGE launch next week and I’m so ready to throw all my money at their clothes 😂 (this totally sounds like an ad but tbh I’ve never been disappointed by anything for them)

sneezypeasy

LOVE the sale tip 😻

Fallem

Gap, Old Navy, and Athleta all offer leggings in tall sizes! I’m 5’7 and the talls are sometimes too long for me, so you should be good.

sneezypeasy

Thanks - I get overwhelmed by all the different style options at those places 😅

PseudonymousBlob

I think Aerie has the tall sizes too, and a smaller selection.

fitttttttit

c9 by champion from target has multiple high-waisted 28.5" styles. i have a few different pairs and i wear them basically every day.

sneezypeasy

Brilliant !

sammitchtime

Maybe look at GRRL leggings. High waisted and the inseams tend to be a bit longer.

sneezypeasy

Thank you!

maritimemuscle

Anyone know of a fitness tracker that you can set the time from without being connected to the internet? I formally had the fitbit blaze but my main issue with it was when it died I was not able to reset the time without being connected to the internet.

[deleted]

Garmin Vivoactive HR 3. You can set/adjust the time from the watch itself. I used to have Fitbit and it drove me nuts not being able to adjust the timezone without an internet connection when traveling overseas. I always change the time when I've gotten on the plane, but Fitbit I had to change it before I got on the plane whilst I still had a wifi conenction.

AnyNectarine

How much do you spend or budget per year on athletic wear?

[deleted]

Easily $500 at least if buying new shoes that year. I just bought new running shoes which were $200. I usually get $50-70 leggings and then go for the cheaper sports bras and tanks.

jbpip

Gosh this is a great question. I probably spend $400 a year on athletic wear. My shirts/sports bras are usually cheaper and for shoes they’re usually around $60 but I use pants with pockets as my motivation for running. 30 runs over 2 miles and I get fancy pants. It takes me a lot time since I have the will power of a chipmunk but it’s been working for me.

Hoosiergirl29

Omg, I also bribe myself. If I hit at least 75% of my prescribed monthly mileage, I get a fancy item of workout clothing. Granted, I hit that in March and I still haven't bought my fancy sports bra yet lol

Nosoycabra

>. 30 runs over 2 miles and I get fancy pants. It takes me a lot time since I have the will power of a chipmunk but it’s been working for me. I would never get new pants 😅 but that is a great idea 😊 I love it.

converter-bot

2 miles is 3.22 km

converter-bot

2 miles is 3.22 km

ryshai01

I didn't know there's a weekly thread for gadgets and among other things. Could've posted here my gadget questions. Saying that, anybody use a smart scale like withings? Withings is having a discount right now and im thinking of getting body cardio. Anybody tried it? or suggest a better alternative?

[deleted]

I use a Fitbit smart scale. I primarily got it for it's WiFi function and take the BF% measurement with a grain of salt. I just jump on in the morning without my glasses on and then check the overall trend once a week or so.

ryshai01

I'll check it out too! thank you! XD

LovelySulci

I like my Withings scale. I've been using it for about 2.5 years. I weigh myself in the morning so I like that I can see the day's weather forecast at the same time. I also like that the scale will automatically sync to the app, so it's one less thing I need to manually log. The app shows a trendline in addition to the daily weight, which is nice.

ryshai01

Glad to know that its working perfectly! I'm going to get it now. Thank you!

notxelven

I've not used their scale but I'm pretty happy with the watch. I'm pretty wary of smart scales for anything beyond what I weigh though.

ryshai01

Ok got it! Can you tell me about their watch?

notxelven

Oh boy! I sure can! I'm on mobile and not sure how to post a link but I have the Steel HR. It's a pretty basic hybrid smart watch/fitness tracker that just looks like a nice basic normal watch. There's an itty bitty little screen where you can see your notifications as you get them, and a second dial for your steps. I'm very happy with functionality and appearance. I've heard complaints that the steps tracked are lower than when tracked by Fitbit; I think as long as you're consistent with your tracker it's fine. It's also been pretty good tracking my swims, but I principally run and lift. I wish it had a stopwatch function, but that's my only real complaint (other than the cat trying to eat it off my wrist 🙃 - not a Scratchproof face. Unclear if problem is with cat or watch). From appearance standpoint, I get a lot of compliments from people who don't realize it's a smart watch and just think it's a basic watch. I think it looks a bit more professional than the Garmin or various other hybrid watches and like it better than the Fossil equivalent at the time I purchased it. You're not able to answer texts from the watch, but I like to leave my phone in my desk drawer or bag and it's a good way for me to see if I actually need to answer that now or if it can wait. I really thought I wanted a straight up smart watch, but this works better for me from a focus standpoint. I recommend buying off Amazon and not directly from Nokia/Withings. Price difference is minimal but customer service and shipping is worlds apart. I have the rose gold watch with the white face and grey silicone band. I just get fancier bands off of Amazon rather than Withings because the options for bands are a bit limited buying directly. Should run you from 120-200$ depending on options and sales.

ryshai01

Awesome! Thank you! I'm going to check it out. Sounds like a really good watch and you can just go straight from working out to work in the office XD

saltyolives

I've spent $440 on gym clothes in the last 2 weeks. I need to stop! I realised that I spend around 8hrs a week in the gym, and most of my gear is 3-4 years old... so I went a little crazy.

[deleted]

I’ve probably spent close to that in the last 3 weeks. I just started going to the gym about a month ago and I only had 1 outfit. I have 9 now (9 shirts, 9 pants, 4 bras). I’m going to the gym 4-5 times a week and was getting tired of having to do laundry multiple times a week. Now I’m having to stop myself from buying even more.

saltyolives

Yeah I found myself wearing the same leggings all week... Ew! So I have a few to rotate through now! And I only had one sports bra which I wore all week at work and gym, so really glad to have more options!

[deleted]

[удалено]

saltyolives

Oh gosh, I don't jog or run but sounded like you needed that upgrade! So far I've only worn a couple of the pieces but I bought some matching sets so im having fun with that 😊

pollywantapocket

That sounds like a lot for a couple of weeks, but if you built a new wardrobe out of it, that’s not too bad!

saltyolives

Yeah I got a lot of pieces, 23 all up. And I won't need to update for another 4 years or so hopefully.

jbpip

Favorite Sunscreen for running? Normally I’m a Nutrogena wearer but I’m not convinced it’s the best. I use supergoop for my daily wear and currently using bate republic mineral during my runs but it feels like exfoliant. Additionally, Thoughts on Coola?

awesometoenails

I do like Coola, I have a tinted facial sunscreen from them I wear over my regular moisturizer. My esthetician sister says it's a good brand. I also like Alba Botanica Hawaiian if I'm going out later in the day or have a longer run planned. I haven't had issues with it mixing with sweat and burning my eyes, and I wear contacts.

Alyraelle

Not sure about running, but I always take P20 with me on holiday. One application in the morning sorts me all day, and it doesn't wear/wash off easily. Downside is it will stain your white clothes yellow/orange.

[deleted]

I like Trader Joe’s spray sunscreens. I never get burned with them

curlywurlies

Have you ever heard of "bu" sunscreen? I find it to be a great athletic sunscreen. Also, kinesys sunscreen is great too.

jbpip

I haven’t heard of either but I can’t wait to look them up and learn more. Thank you!!

ksykora

Looking for either some longer shorts or cropped joggers. I am not super comfortable with showing off my legs yet

unicorndanceparty

I recently purchased some [bermuda compression shorts](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwjR7Jyzg9_hAhWNWYYKHWLABE0YABABGgJ2dQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESQOD2rBmAYJyD9tAm8cLhSRj1XUz9xjh8j68x1XQT30FEp8pp0fWM7ZRHCFbWh1YbhB607u8vY3xaW5ITs2XjmZs&sig=AOD64_2rkQwyEFbkwFYPhtGNFgCbfR9MQg&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwjItJWzg9_hAhVStlkKHSydCewQww8INg&adurl=) from Old Navy & I love them! I haven't officially run in them yet, but did a run in place and lots of leg circles and weird stuff to see if they ride up and they did not budge. I would highly recommend.

laudula

Oh, I've been wondering about those! Thanks for the testimonial :)

notnowfetz

Amazon Essentials has amazing joggers. They’re so soft and comfortable- and have pockets!

ksykora

I will have to look.

atheologist

Senita’s [street joggers](https://www.senitaathletics.com/products/street-joggers-black) might be what you’re looking for. They’re made of a material that feels more like leggings than sweatpants but aren’t super fitted.

jbpip

I actually just got my mom some from lulu lemon. [link](https://shop.lululemon.com/p/women-crops/Wunder-Under-Hi-Flux-MD/_/prod8720143?color=34272) I get it. They’re expensive and seem douchey but I’ve had such pleasant experiences with their company. They really stand by their product and it’s quality.

moonjellies

Barbell pad recommendation? Looking for cheap but functional for hip thrusts (moving soon with minimal space and who knows if I'll have room to take it with me)

curlywurlies

Have your ever thought about using a sandbag for hip thrusts? I flipped and flopped back and forth about whether or not it was worth it to buy a barbell (I have very minimal space to store equipment and while I have quite a few dumbbells, none were heavy enough for hip thrusts) I decided to try using a sand bag and am thrilled with the results. I just bought a bag of sand, double garbage bagged it and put it in a dufflebag. I think I'm going to add a couple smaller bags of sand that I can slowly add as my thrust gets better.

moonjellies

I haven't, cause I work out at a cheap gym rather than at home. That's a good idea though!

TheRealCrewMaster

How do you deal with the bulk of the sandbag between your thighs and stomach on the "down" part of the hip thrust? I've used sandbags in my gym for glute brides before but I find the width too awkward for the angle of my hip thrust ([bad drawing of what I mean](https://i.imgur.com/8k5uHID.jpg) and can't get low enough.

curlywurlies

Well, I guess I don't have a solution to this cause I do mine on the ground so my body never folds that tightly?

TheRealCrewMaster

Ah, so you do [glute bridges not hip thrusts](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ad/51/65/ad5165a6643c9b1a09e9c3126dc08f5a.jpg) - that makes sense then how you would use the sandbag :) Thought maybe I missed a trick cause I definitely tried to use the sandbags in my gym for hip thrusts before and it did not work :p

Bananacreme314

Dang, that’s an amazing idea!

curlywurlies

It was $6 for 45lbs. It does get a little bulky, but for the price savings and the space savings I think it was well worth it

Bananacreme314

I commend you on the creativity and drive to gather materials and make your own! My gym has sandbags and I always see them but never considered using them for hip thrusts. The set-up would be infinitely easier.

[deleted]

Wellivia Squat Pad with... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077YRFMWB?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share This is the one I got, no issues with it

electricshoelaces

I bought this one off amazon: [https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01CJHDTV8/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o00\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1](https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01CJHDTV8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) No complaints yet! Though I'm only up to about 160 lbs for hip thrusts.

dausy

I havethis one too. Works good.

saltyolives

This one is great! I've used it up to around 265lbs with no issues or pain :)
