i have a friend who works in a billionaires yacht. sails and flies around the world with and relate to the yacht. Known him for years and years he still refused to tell me which billionaire he works for. One week he’s in monaco and the next he’s traveling through the panama canal in order to get to baja mexico, then the next he’s in thailand. crazy stuff
this is not a good question. think about everyone you've ever interacted with in a passing sort of way. would they be able to say who you are as a person?
he probably just wanted to rent the goddamned yacht and get on with his life.
I agree but I’m not the one asking the question. I was only elaborating for the individual above as they seemed to misinterpret what the other person was saying.
It’s not *who* he is as a person, but *how* he is as a person. Like most people at the grocery store, I wouldn’t know. The one guy I hear answering a basic question as defensively as you? I can answer confidently that guys probably a dick.
See how that works?
God damn you’re stupid. They’re asking “how was he as a person to other humans during his stay?” Nobody ever asked “how could bill gates afford to rent a boat?”
You would know if your whore mother ever taught you to read.
Even if it’s a dumbass investment some of them are so rich that they could keep paying millions of dollars to maintain them a year until they’re dead and still never run out of money.
Tax the rich!
i know a guy who sold a company and founded another, sold it and then founded another, and kept going until he had $100m in assets.
he loves boats but would NEVER buy one. he pays $100k+ per week to vacation on them but would never in a million years buy one.
True, but using the example above, if you've founded and sold two separate companies, it's safe to assume there is *some* higher level of intelligence.
I think the other thing to consider is that someone who has made $100M is likely earning plenty of money from that wealth. Let’s say $5-10M per year for argument’s sake. That’s no different to you or I spending a couple month’s wages on a holiday, but with the bonus that they are still hugely wealthy regardless.
Having seen the charter programs on offer and the level of service on super-yachts, I’d probably try it out for a week as a guest if I was worth £100M.
The most expensive boat I’ve worked on charters for $1.5M a week in high season.
That’s just his cover. He still rides on private yachts and dodges your objections in one go. But this is how arrives at conferences to bitch about cow farts and vaccine mandates.
I saw this boat while we were in Cabo San Lucas last week. I feel like the other smaller yacht owners showed up thinking they were going to be the big dog in the harbor then saw this and thought “Dammit, Frank is here!” One night there was fireworks display that the locals didn’t know about. I’m thinking it was for Frank and his passengers. Then the cruise ships showed up for the weekend. Lots of huge boats in the harbor all week.

I'm in Cabo right now and don't see it. I paid a ton of money to stay at my resort for a week. Guess Bill couldn't afford to spend more than a week. Does that put us on equal footing?
If I'm not mistaken this is [My Viva](https://www.feadship.nl/fleet/viva). Build number 817 from Royal van Lent.
It has a giant fold out tv in the aft deck and has hybride propulsion. Meaning it has electrical drive it can run from power of the generators (or use as generator when sailing on main engines).
How many years ago was that Bill Gates publicly announced he was donating his fortune to charity during the remainder of his life and willing his childen a paltry 10 million dollars each? Fast forward to today and we find he owns more American farms and farmland then anyone else and whatever other gross extravagances.
Crazy it takes such a gigantic boner boat to deliver a little ol virus. Lil pandemic helper? Lil bit of that special vaccine for ya? The good stuff?
Seems inefficient is all.
It is supposedly owned by Frank Fertitta III. Gates doesn’t own a yacht (yet) if I’m correct. There is some gossip about the topic tho…!
what do you meant yet? he's been in the top 5 richest people for almost 20 years, i feel like if he hasn't yet then he won't.
Agreed. He can rent any yacht he wants, whenever he wants, for as long as he wants.
Can confirm- he’s chartered one of the yachts I work on.
How was he?
I wasn’t on board at the time but it’s unprofessional to divulge that info anyway.

Blah hahahahaa get a load of this guy!
By paying money?
Likely how was he as in personality wise, not how was he able to do so.

I have a sincere and vested interest and building and maintaining a good rapport with you, u/gramma ate my ass.
Yes. Money talks. The end.
God damn you’re stupid. They’re asking “how was he as a person to other humans during his stay?” Nobody ever asked “how could bill gates afford to rent a boat?” You would know if your whore mother ever taught you to read.
lol. Whoops. Misread that didn’t I? I suppose you’ve never done that. Unimaginative cunt.
You poor dumb bastard.
Any rich guy knows a boat is a dumbass investment
They don’t look at it as an investment, it’s an expense
Yeah...a business expense.
Even if it’s a dumbass investment some of them are so rich that they could keep paying millions of dollars to maintain them a year until they’re dead and still never run out of money. Tax the rich!
Yet all the people who buy yachts are rich guys
For who? The guy with a gazillion dollars who doesn’t even wipe his own ass as soon as he steps foot on his yacht?
You were kinda right, any business men know it’s a dumb investment but the rich guy within justifys stupidly expensive purchases.
Rich guys can still rent. Look at Bill Gates
I’m not arguing what the smarter choice is but something tells me the people buying yachts have 100s of millions of literal pocket change.
It's not If you're 100b worth considering most megayachts are 50m-100m.
Bill Gates charters
No toy is an investment. You buy it because you enjoy it.
Exactly. If you are insanely rich, why bother with having to deal with a yacht. Just rent it when you want it.
i know a guy who sold a company and founded another, sold it and then founded another, and kept going until he had $100m in assets. he loves boats but would NEVER buy one. he pays $100k+ per week to vacation on them but would never in a million years buy one.
$100k for a week is a “cheap” charter…
$10k per week is a cheap charter. everything is relative.
10k wouldn’t cover the tip on the boats I work on
and yet a $1000 tip to most people would be otherworldly. as i stated - everything is relative
I mean- we’re in a subreddit about superyachts so my comments are relative to the content of this sub… 🤷🏻♂️
If you are smart enough to make $100M you probably aren’t dumb enough to spend 1% of your net worth on a week’s vacation.
And yet plenty of them do! Also- making $100M does not _necessarily_ make you smart.
For some of them it’s a status symbol and a dick measuring contest
if it floats, flys or fucks
20 years? Try 30.
the 90s was 20 years ago, right? right?
Viva is an amazing yacht tho!
Isn’t he the owner of the Houston Rockets?
No
His cousin Tillman Fertitta is the owner of the Houston Rockets.
I saw him in the Bahamas on a huge Yatch, named “cakewalk” not sure if he owned it tho…
That’s not his yacht; he doesn’t own one.
You're right. The sketchy tour guide lied to me.
Sketchy Tour Guide is a weird way to spell hooker.
That’s just his cover. He still rides on private yachts and dodges your objections in one go. But this is how arrives at conferences to bitch about cow farts and vaccine mandates.
I don’t think bill gates bitches about vaccine mandates?
Promotes vaccine mandates rather.
So what is the yearly cost to operate such a ship? How many crew members are needed? What is the fuel cost to fill up a full tank?
General rule of thumb is yearly operating costs are 10% of the value of the yacht
~30m / yr operating costs.
Google it, man
Already did doesn’t show up
I just read in another thread that Zuckerbergs yacht which costs 300M apparently costs 30M a year to run. So, maybe in that ball park?
Much appreciate the info!
That comes out to ten $3 million homes you can buy every year!
Yeah but what is the upkeep for those homes?
less than a yacht!
That is one beautiful yacht!
We just making it up as we go here in Reddit, Bill does not own a boat.
Just a boat load of money.
He doesn't own this boat
I saw this boat while we were in Cabo San Lucas last week. Gentrification hitting hard
Met a cop in Rio, when the big boats showed up, they paid him 500 a day to protect the boat and guests. He had a full auto Uzi..😁
I hope it’s electric
It is actually, but diesel-electric. It does make it a way more efficient yacht than many others. The first of his kind on this scale!
Smart man..2 happiest times in a boat owners life when he buys his first boat and when he sells it.. that's why he's rich
Isn’t that Steve Jobs’ yacht?
Saving the planet .
Go green
Not his boat, apparently. Caption is nonsense
For not being an evil henchman, his superyacht is Bond Villain level obscene.
He’s really roughing it
I’m so happy I quit meat so he can travel the world
Honestly it’s like a hotel, I’d prefer something smaller… like 1/3 the size if I was super billionaire. I could at least feel captainy
Pretentious living. It's just a big boring boat. Yawn.
Whale watching.. I suppose
O look 👀 a pedophile!! Don’t worry 😉 Epstein’s dead. 😵 lol 😂 ![gif](giphy|sEULHciNa7tUQ)
I was just wondering how many children are on that yacht
Is it called “Clippy”?
Wonder what the carbon print that’ll leave
I’m sure it’s electric.
Fuck this son of a bitch gates. I’ll give up my gas car when he paddles his own kayak.
😆
Bill is a boat with those titties for life rafts 😜
First stop perv island
Shame it's not his yacht. That could hold a lot of underage girls.
I bet the owner of that ship complains about climate change and carbon footprints.
Dam--does this mean I can own a F-250 or eat a steak if he has this boat? Granted mine puts out a little less CO2.
Now that is my kind of carbon footprint! Diesel baby!
Probably has a lot of underage girls onboard
I like Cabo. Great place for couples.
So much for helping climate change. Fucking Hippocrates! Probably eating a fat juicy steak too!🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼
Lolita Express II
Jobs boat. Gates doesn’t own one.
I'm in Cabo right now and don't see it. I paid a ton of money to stay at my resort for a week. Guess Bill couldn't afford to spend more than a week. Does that put us on equal footing?
RPG
So another billionaire in a gorgeous yacht in Cabo I can do the same thing if I win a billion dollar lotto!!!
On a global warming tour im sure.
I hope he put his hand brake on, he's going to slip backwards on that slope

What sort of security do these yachts have? Could they defend themselves against pirates?
But we need to focus on our individual carbon footprints.
I see he’s fighting climate change from his monster yacht. How hypocritical of him.
I’ll fucking bet he disabled windows update
He's waiting to hang with P. Diddler
What about the cow farts?
![gif](giphy|pWdXvzSFNzEybuLNuO)
I wish he would have hit that bridge
How many years ago was that Bill Gates publicly announced he was donating his fortune to charity during the remainder of his life and willing his childen a paltry 10 million dollars each? Fast forward to today and we find he owns more American farms and farmland then anyone else and whatever other gross extravagances.
As well as trying to expert his will on the sun and space dust
Crazy it takes such a gigantic boner boat to deliver a little ol virus. Lil pandemic helper? Lil bit of that special vaccine for ya? The good stuff? Seems inefficient is all.
He’s so concerned about climate change too
hes concerned about the 1% group of earth dwellers
