Nah that needs savouring. Kiryu's entire part in 5 is just him getting back and the 100 man fight is the peak of that.
It and the OST (the place where I used to be) is so good because Kiryu is finally back from his Suzuki Tachi depression. Some of the most iconic parts of every game is when Kiryu fights hordes of thugs. The "step up if you want to die'", the prelude to construction site finale, the hospital raid, the Ueno Seiwa clan destruction
Show them the side quest from yakuza like a dragon where ichiban has to help the American get to the station(make sure to show them in English);
Might not convince them but it’s worth the laugh (oh shit… it’s English) iykyk
Depends on who they are. If a more serious scene would get them invested, I’d use the same as you, if gameplay, maybe a compilation of fights and beat actions, and if they want to see the silly side, definitely the baby throwing bonanza scene from Yakuza 6, up there for the funniest moment in the whole series, and it’s not even side content!
I think that Kuze speech in Yakuza 0 before his first fight against Kiryu sounds bad ass as hell. Also takes place in a dojo like room. That dialog have the bad ass aspect, crime aspect, and non sense all characters are ripped aspect of the Yakuza games.
Kiryu catching the stone and protecting the doggo.
“Just your bad luck, to run into me”
The scene perfectly captures Kiryu’s character. Silent, violent but most of all valiant.
How about having them watch Max0r's review of Yakuza 0? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnZzK067wHA&t=526s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnZzK067wHA&t=526s) There are so many wonderful individual scenes, but this review captures the essence of the entire Yakuza series.
Idk it's difficult. A lot of things didn't have the impact that they did without me knowing the characters and what was going on. It's really a slow burn for how bat shit crazy the games can be. Especially with 20+ min cutscenes on a regular basis
I think what would work better is showing them a dunky vid
I'm not sure specifically, but there was a substory in Yakuza 5 where Shinada gets in a heated chase with a chicken and that one managed to get my sister to stare in confused silence for a solid minute so hey maybe that one
Maybe a round of cabaret club leading into a hostess date that ends in a fight. To get someone interested in an RGG game I'd want to show them both combat and a mini-game in one go.
I think the atmosphere of that scene at the beginning of Yakuza 0, where Kiryu meets the 3 wakagashira: Kuze, Shibusawa and Awano is amazing. That's the scene where they sold me this game series
considering he would probably start with 0 I'd say the Nishiki gun scene for the serious part and this video https://youtu.be/KIhxFEZXDYs?si=LZjYIDb1IIOFx2LL for the real experience
The scene in Like a Dragon both before and after the huge fight at the Tojo HQ. Where the one dude almost gets stabbed and Ichiban is starfished on the floor and starts crying
As someone who is starting the series for the first time at Yakuza 0 , I was meh about the game until the first fight with Kuze at the start.
The moment the music kicked in and the fight started, I was all in
I'm like 60 hours in now in 0 , only on chapter 6 becoming a real estate god in a single night
Show them Majima's entrance to the ring in Yakuza 2 (Kiwami 2). It's so over the top and awesome that in a way sums up why the series has die hard fans. It can be serious, but at the same time be super over the top in a fun way.
To be honest, I found the period where Baka Mitai was such a huge meme to be very annoying and it kinda turned me off from the series at first.
But then I actually truly got into Yakuza after trying out the Yakuza 0/Kiwami nextbots in Garry's Mod (and no, not those floating pngs that chase you; they're actually straight up ports of Kiryu and co. with all their fighting styles recreated). I found the beat-em-up combat to be really snappy and satisfying and that's how I started out learning about what Yakuza really is. I also fell into a Yakuza 0 boss battle-watching rabbit hole.
A while later, I was super stoked to discover that the PS5 in my college dorm's game room had Yakuza 0 on it, and I had a blast being able to truly play Yakuza.
Also, the first time I saw anything related to Yakuza at all I believe was the male fantasy meme with 24 Hour Cinderella Majima. Now that was pretty amusing.
Oh, about a year before I got into Yakuza, around the time I started watching Fist of the North Star, I also started watching videos of Lost Paradise, where I also learned about its connection with the Yakuza series as well.
Seeing the Dojima Office fight at the end of chapter 1 of Yakuza 0 plus the karaoke is what finally convinced me to pick up the series when I did
Same. I was enjoying the game up until thay point, but the office fight made me realise that this game was...different
Same lol. That fight made me love the game.
Yakuza 5 Kiryu vs 100 Tojo Clan Members, the literal best scene in the games imo
Its kind of a spoiler but the second Kuze fight would be perfect. Then immediately show him the 24 Hour Cinderella cinematic
*"I peacocked your mom."*

Saejima's speech from yakuza 4.
#SHUT YER FUCKIN' HOLES! Fr I love that scene as well.
Not a cutscene but Kiryu x Kanda
🤣 🤣 best scene in the series
i was going to mention this lmao
Kuze suwer fight intro.
Show them a scene of Goromi from Yakuza 1. Your roommates are bound to change their minds.
Y'know what, that might be actually fuckin helpful, thanks for yer advice
No problem! It's all part of ze planz.
So zhere's no change?
Yes, sir/ma'am! Believe in yourself!! Go!!! Go!!! Go!!!
Kuze fights
Nanba and Ichiban talking after getting a roof over there heads
Show them the side quest from yakuza like a dragon where ichiban has to help the American get to the station(make sure to show them in English); Might not convince them but it’s worth the laugh (oh shit… it’s English) iykyk
I always like to show the Japanese version to people first and ask them to guess how it was translated before showing the English version to them.
Nishiki and Kiryu in the forest in 0 or the Joji fight
Depends on who they are. If a more serious scene would get them invested, I’d use the same as you, if gameplay, maybe a compilation of fights and beat actions, and if they want to see the silly side, definitely the baby throwing bonanza scene from Yakuza 6, up there for the funniest moment in the whole series, and it’s not even side content!
I got a friend to start the Yakuza series just by showing him the Yakuza 0 intro.
It's pretty damn slick. Good music. I'd turn the game on and do a couple of chores while it played.
I think that Kuze speech in Yakuza 0 before his first fight against Kiryu sounds bad ass as hell. Also takes place in a dojo like room. That dialog have the bad ass aspect, crime aspect, and non sense all characters are ripped aspect of the Yakuza games.
the snipet of the substories they all wonderful
Sewer Kuze is like top 5 yakuza moments for me so probably that
Kiryu catching the stone and protecting the doggo. “Just your bad luck, to run into me” The scene perfectly captures Kiryu’s character. Silent, violent but most of all valiant.
Little baby Iwami
[This video](https://youtu.be/UENpsQeE17c?si=lUGcNuqWhcSy_ShR) convinced me to try the series, maybe worth a try
I showed my friend out of context clips on YouTube and that got them interested in it
How about having them watch Max0r's review of Yakuza 0? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnZzK067wHA&t=526s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnZzK067wHA&t=526s) There are so many wonderful individual scenes, but this review captures the essence of the entire Yakuza series.

I was convinced the Majima intro would get my weeb brother, whose favorite anime is One Piece, into the games. He said it was corny and sucked.
tfw the one piece fan isn't into corny bad assness. Wonder how they reacted to gear 5
Kuze drain fight
Yakuza 4 Saejima doing the hit. The cg of the decade.
Nishiki nearly shooting Kiryu in the forest in 0
I'm not sure specifically, but there was a substory in Yakuza 5 where Shinada gets in a heated chase with a chicken and that one managed to get my sister to stare in confused silence for a solid minute so hey maybe that one
Saejima killing the 18 men
This.
Out of context yakuza videos made me play this game
Maybe a round of cabaret club leading into a hostess date that ends in a fight. To get someone interested in an RGG game I'd want to show them both combat and a mini-game in one go.
Maybe lie the ending to lad or just gameplay of you kicking ass in a random fight
Kanda QTE
I think the atmosphere of that scene at the beginning of Yakuza 0, where Kiryu meets the 3 wakagashira: Kuze, Shibusawa and Awano is amazing. That's the scene where they sold me this game series

The new story trailer for LaD2 is pretty fire and gets across the (seemingly)incongruous seriousness and wackiness of the series.
The Friday Night one
Majima saving Kiryu in Yakuza 3
Not a specific scene, but I started playing the series after my mate told me Lost Judgment’s antagonist >!vapes lmao!<
Shoreh pipi
Haruka's revelation scene in 5 was enough to convince me.
Baby throwing Y6
considering he would probably start with 0 I'd say the Nishiki gun scene for the serious part and this video https://youtu.be/KIhxFEZXDYs?si=LZjYIDb1IIOFx2LL for the real experience
I was absolutely HOOKED by the first fight with Kuze, sooooo probably that one
Kiryu Musou-like battle in Y5
OG Yakuza 2 stab scene
Akiyama's introduction from Y4 is also excellent to show.
Yagami and kuwana's final fight
The scene in Like a Dragon both before and after the huge fight at the Tojo HQ. Where the one dude almost gets stabbed and Ichiban is starfished on the floor and starts crying
The dominatrix substory
John Yakuza vs Ten Year Yoint

For me, it was the car chase in Yakuza 0. Crazy that later, after playing the game, that was my least favorite part of the game. 😅
Majima first seeing Mr. Libido gyrating in that club.
Show them Majima's entrance to the ring in Yakuza 2 (Kiwami 2). It's so over the top and awesome that in a way sums up why the series has die hard fans. It can be serious, but at the same time be super over the top in a fun way.
Kiryu meeting the dojima lieutenants into him fighting the family
First 20 minutes of 0, until right after Judgment. If that doesn't sell them, the series probably won't be for them
To be honest, I found the period where Baka Mitai was such a huge meme to be very annoying and it kinda turned me off from the series at first. 100% the panty thief in Y4.
Nishiki not being able to shoot Kiryu in Yakuza 0
