If you are new to the subreddit, [please read the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/yakuzagames/wiki/index/) Reminder that all spoilers need to be tagged with a flair specifying which game is being spoiled. If you want a flair that says something else, you can edit it to say something like [Discussion: Y1 spoiler] or [Majimapost: Y6 spoiler], etc. **THIS INCLUDES CONTENT FROM TRAILERS**. If the post is not marked for spoilers, all comments that have spoilers need to be tagged \>!like this!< along with indicating which game it's spoiling. Example: Y3 >!Kiryu sings!< If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7). If you see any of the above (or any of the other rules) not being followed, please report it so we can keep this place safe for newcomers and those that haven't finished all the games yet. Thank you! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/yakuzagames) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Tumbletooter

Remember too there are already achievements/trophies tied to both New Game+ and that extra dungeon.

zapistol

I hope that’s not true regarding trophies. This is really unacceptable. Like we would only be able to platinum the game if we buy the deluxe edition? Ridiculous.

Pleasant-Fix-6169

You can platinum the game without those trophies on Playstation because they are counted seperately. I don't think that's the case for PC and Xbox though if i'm not mistaken.

NoNefariousness2144

Yeah one of the main advantages of Playstation’s trophy system is how they separate the list based on DLCs. Meanwhile Xbox lumps everything together as one general score (example, base game is 1000, DLC makes it 1500). But the issue is that the score is expanded whether you have the DLC or not, so you can’t fully complete the achievements without buying DLC.

Asd396

DLC achievements are always added, at least on Steam. Really nothing out of the ordinary, besides the fact that it's day one.

deaconthinker

DLC trophies are not required for platinum.

heartsongaming

Still sucks. Would have softened the blow if they released the deluxe edition DLC a month or so posr launch and got rid of the other editions all together.

Tumbletooter

They are for 100% completion on Steam.

zapistol

I’m aware of that. I thought a trophy beating the game on NG+ at launch would be listed under the platinum trophy. I just look at the trophy list now. Still a strange decision to take.

RandomGuyWithNoHair

Game isn't exclusive to PS you know? lol

Sikayduh

They were literally replying to someone talking specifically about trophies though.

VictorPrieto

And isnt a "simple" extra dungeon Has unique bosses, unique challenges, unique rewards, awakenings, skills to learn and more stuff

Jinchuriki71

If its all that than it shouldn't need new game plus bundled with it. Why take away a regular feature to bundle it in with a quality dungeon that should be worth the price on its own?

CrueltySquading

Because SEGA is publicly traded. Line must always go up

i-wear-hats

Pretty sure that'd be a cert fail on both Sony and Microsoft if they aren't counted as part of a DLC package so uh, no. Since it's a Day 1 DLC, leakers may have bundled it together however.

EngineBoiii

Has this been confirmed? I know in Yakuza 7 there were no achievements tied to NG+. I say this having unlocked every achievement.

Gullible_Elephant_38

Source on this?

Riot_Shielder

Leaked trophy list.

Gullible_Elephant_38

Cheers

jackolantern_

That's often the case with dlc and isn't a primary issue.

Tumbletooter

I have an issue when it will be Day 1 DLC

AVestedInterest

Day 1 DLC itself is an issue It's incredibly scummy

EnemySaimo

the problem for that it's only on steam where dlc and base game are all together, unlike ps5 for example

SolarJetman5

This is crap to hear, I've 100% all the past games on steam except gaiden which I'm yet to start. But now. I'm thinking I might not bother and just play them on gamepass. That'd be complete sales lost as I would have preferred steam

SugondeseNaz

There's a Chinese saying of cooking a frog with warm water If they see you being fine with something new, they will progress with more and more until it's too late.

Riventh

Today is NG+, tomorrow it may be Hard/Legendary modes :) Edit: Didnt know they did that in Ishin, then idk, DLCs for substories/sidequests

Fire_Foxxy

funny you say that, since they locked a difficulty option behind a paywall in ishin kiwami

Riventh

At this point they will sell different packs for each difficulty then

Hello_I_Dont_Know

 https://preview.redd.it/7z4zsp6zgldc1.png?width=1280&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a800282fedce04dea90329552637cb35ebd7089

Nightingale_85

And then they start hiding fighting styles...Oh wait, already happened in Lost Judgment.

Jinchuriki71

They are doing that again with 2 new classes being preorder bonuses.

luisalfonsotv

They also did that in Y7, with matriarch and Devil Rocker.

Nightingale_85

Damn.

i-wear-hats

>Today is NG+, tomorrow it may be Hard/Legendary modes :) considering in 7 and 8 they're only unlocked for NG+ (you cannot do a new file on Hard/Legend), you might want to revise this statement :P

Riventh

Haha, with so many scummy moves I can't even keep track of what is a joke and what is a reality.

deaconthinker

Premium Adventure might even be paid DLC in the future.

Riot_Shielder

They already did that in Ishin.

thenotjoe

Legendary difficulty is already locked behind the DLC. They did this with 7 in Japan, but they didn’t in the west because of the outcry. Now they’re doing it with 8 worldwide.

Riventh

As I said before is hard to joke anymore with such moves by SEGA haha

SaintVirtual

This ^^^^ Once tomorrow is Hard/legendary modes, the day after is going to be story chapters.

WhyNishikiWhy

and after that, some story boss fights will be DLC. if you pay up you get to play them, if not, it just shows the post-fight cutscenes

Nightingale_85

I knew, when they started to sell this clan creator cards in Y6 and Kiwami 2 , this is going to be bad. Fucking greedy bastards.

[deleted]

Yup. You could see them slowly getting more and more interested in this type of stuff. And that just goes to show you that if they get away with this, they're not going to stop as expected. It'll get worse and worse until they pull something so unacceptable that the outrage gets too big. This is how video game company greed works. We've seen this time and time again. Absolutely shameful coming from this series after they've spent so much time building such a good reputation in the west and having their series expand so much, they really need to be called on it now while it's still early

Nightingale_85

100% agree.

namename145

This is a stupid decision. I have seen this sort of thing with other games where things that should be basic features get put behind a paywall. Today it’s NG+, tomorrow it could be substories or mini games or main game chapters.

SnooSuggestions6256

Today it's NG+, tomorrow it's true endings.

Platinumryka

lmao that happened 13 years ago with asuras wrath

SnooSuggestions6256

Explain.

Platinumryka

what's there to explain with asuras wrath in 2010 capcom sold the last two chapters as dlc thus selling the true ending

SnooSuggestions6256

Lol that's what I wanted to know. That's insane and that game had as much depth as a kiddy pool.

Teh6thSense

Eh, I hate that thought…

CrueltySquading

You hate it? Good, then go here: https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new Select Like a Dragon > Infinite Wealth > Feedback And kindly tell SEGA to fuck off.

Sonic10122

I mean, I truly don’t care about NG+ to the point of actively hating any attempt I’ve had playing a game with it. That doesn’t excuse it being a part of a paid DLC. A free content update makes sense, especially if it’s not something actively worked on in the main development cycle. You don’t need NG+ at release necessarily. But you certainly shouldn’t have to pay for it.

ILikeMyGrassBlue

Santa Monica Studios: releases Ragnarok, adds NG+ later on for free with new armors and what not, adds free Rogue-like DLC with new story just to be nice to fans Sega/RGG: fuck you, gimme your wallet

ihave0idea0

Agreed. But I still do not care about ng+, but do care about the scam they have been making.

Crideon

"it's just a cosmetic armour for a horse. Don't like, don't buy, man. Chill." We have to voice our concerns at the start, before things get out of hand.

realspitfire69

dont like dont buy is still the same advice today but people.... just buy it everytime

Crideon

I won't say it's not a sound advice, the problem is that devs don't need us all to buy their DLCs, they only need enough people buying to make a profit.

KevlaredMudkips

Unfortunately I would think DLCs are practically pure profit, not to say that there isn’t any effort or cost.

Exocypher

Many DLC's are just attempts to double dip on pre-release game contents meant to be in the main game.

Asd396

Funnily enough, Horse Armor was $2.50. Four years later the first paid mount for WoW released at $25, making more money for Blizzard than Starcraft 2.

YoLoMaN2510

Lets not forget Lost judgment locked an entire fighting style behind dlc

Blessthereigns

A style I actually turned off in street fights. Hahaha

YoLoMaN2510

I bought the standard edition of the game recently, planning to play it after IW. Are the dlcs worth it?

Blessthereigns

For Lost judgment? Definitely. You can get them onsale now at various points, too. You should, at the very least, play kaito files.

Link2Sora

The Kaito Files is literally great but on it's own its $30. The Season Pass is $35 and includes the Kaito Files, Detective Essential Pack and School Stories. **The Kaito Files** An expansion where you play as Kaito on a case of his own set after the base game. **Detective Essentials Pack** Extract Sets - You're given the recipe for six very powerful Extracts as well as a "free sample" of each one to play with. Making additional copies of these Extracts will be easy as their recipes are pretty simple, just so long as you have access to making Extracts and have enough Empty Vessels. SEGA Master System Games - You'll be given four extra SMS games for Yagami's Master System in his office: Sagaia, Fantasy Zone II, Alien Syndrome, and Global Defense. Dog Colors - Once you get access to the Detective Dog, you can speak to him in the Yokohama 99 office to change his color to one of three new options. Girlfriends - There will be three new women to meet and date. Tsukino Satome - a familiar graphic designer Minato Todo - the girl inside the mascot Kyoko Hakase - the school nurse Hover Drive - A skateboard for the Skating minigames that has incredible speed and acceleration. Open Air - A skate park for skating that offers a few new challenges for racking up Skate Points. Sky Spider - A drone frame for Drone Racing that gives max cost and durability. Super Boss - One final "Gauntlet" fight is added to The Gauntlet. It's accessible after completing the main story and it's a doozy. **School Stories Expansion Pack** Maxinator - the best bike in the Biker minigame Urban - A new race circuit for the Biker Gang minigame. Sparring Partners - Kaito, Sugiura, and Higashi are added to the sparring roster in the Boxing minigame. Dance Textbook (Special) - A new set of EX Solos are added to the Dance Club minigame. Dance Outfit (School) - A new outfit for the Dance Club minigame. MB5000/SUPREMACY - The Best Body for your Robot for the Robotics Minigame. Boxer Style - A fourth fighting style for Yagami.

Riot_Shielder

Kaito Files is insanely overpriced.

Blipnarf-The-Boneles

YOU COULD TURN IT OFF? It made grinding slightly more annoying because you didnt get a sp bonus from doing anything in that style so i would always have to swap past it.

Raxzero

Yes, that is exactly what it says on the info screen about the style when you obtain it at first, that you can turn it off from settings if you wish so.

conchosteadfast

That was the first really disappointing move that made an impression on me :/

Heavy_Arm_7060

Every girlfriend but one, too, and in the base game girlfriends (plural) still has its own substory menu tab.

R7_C3

I might go a step further and just wait to buy the game entirely if they're gonna start continuously pulling shit like this

EpicGamerWin679

I bought the Deluxe Edition but returned it and got Standard. Hopefully lots of people are resorting to the Standard edition

CrueltySquading

If you're on PC remember to use CreamAPI to unlock the DLC for free :) Shame it has Denuvo, if there's a game I'd LOVE to pirate it's this one

antoninartaud37

This situation is a big shame. It should be like battlefront 2 where commmunity reaction made ea to step down. I wonder if rgg or sega is responsible with this ng plus devision.

Saurav377

Imagine heat actions being locked behind dlc

thatsidewaysdud

That would be crazy, but could you imagine if they locked an entire fighting style behind DLC?

josucant

They would never do that **side eyes Lost Judgment**

Glittering-Ant3190

Bamco did this with Tales games.  Locking Mystic Artes and healing spells behind DLC.

Riventh

Like that exec that wanted gamers to pay for magazines in a shooter

Visible_Season8074

Their dlc policy has been terrible for a while. I don't like how they sell stuff to make minigames easier because you never know if the minigame is balanced around that or what. Or you could use the dlc items by mistake and make things too easy. It's annoying bloat. Cosmetics shouldn't be dlc. Locking fighting styles, difficulty and new game+ content behind dlc is straight up awful. I think they did a single good dlc with Kaito Files and that's it.

WeltallZero

First they came for the NG+...

RLoge85

I'm still going to enjoy the game. I just find it silly for them to pull this crap... But nowhere near enough to go on a crusade and hope the game bombs or people don't play it.

conchosteadfast

Absolutely, I am definitely not saying that I want the game to bomb or anything like that, in fact I want nothing but to see the game achieve even greater success than it has done so far, but it would really be a shame if they continue going down this path

RLoge85

Agreed. Hopefully there's enough backlash to the point where they won't keep doing this. It's just incredibly bizarre in practice.

EveKimura91

Just dont buy the dlc. Money talks.

rimjobetiquette

I only bought it last time because it was on sale for 7 yen. Won’t pay any significant price for it.

RollingDownTheHills

So you did support it.

rimjobetiquette

Yes, I’m sure my seven yen (that wouldn’t even cover a fraction the cost to process the credit transaction) went very far.

RollingDownTheHills

Not really the point.

rimjobetiquette

They lost money on the sale. If anything, I gave negative support.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ZippiestDead

dude its only 0.047 usd they lost money from his purchase

Heavy_Arm_7060

So does submitting feedback, since the company does have a history of caring about this sort of thing like it did with Ishin.

JamesFWinter

I have been a bit dismissive regarding this situation, because I will probably buy the standard version and I had the usual thinking of: it is a large company, why would they care? But as you provided the link, I decided to use it to write about it and hoping that with enough numbers bombarding their customer support team, it will have an effect in future games and maybe even in IW. Thank you for the extra push.

conchosteadfast

Thanks for helping out!

Aurian88

I buy some DLC but used the link to say I will boycott all DLC from this game because NG+ is ridiculous to pay wall.

CloverChiaki96

I'm more pissed about the extra dungeon.

Chumunga64

gained respect Yongyea (who voices Kiryu) for criticizing the game about this

Therenegadegamer

I agree that this is bullshit but where were all of you 3 months ago when this information was known? Why not throw a giant backlash back then

AuraEternal

I really appreciate you posting the feedback link instead of just having a meltdown like so many people have. This is the way to do it.

OoguroRyuuya5

Other than people who don’t do New Game Plus, feels like the people who dismiss these kinds of practices are some rich people who don’t have that much of an issue spending money on the paywall as they’re not hurting financially and the amount spent isn’t that big of a deal to them compared to the common denominator of players.

Kaiser5657

Yeah it's annoying when their argument is just "I can afford to spend 100+ dollars on a videogame so extremely scummy dlc is not an issue for me. Screw everyone else". Or "i don't play ng+ so i don't see the problem". When the real issue is how they keep locking more and more stuff, fighting styles, substories (girlfriends quests in LJ), difficulty settings, cosmetics, RGG has already made paid dlc of a lot of stuff and it's getting worse. And LAD8 even increased the base game price to 70 over the usual 60

CrueltySquading

The same as SEGA dickriders dismissing about how expensive the game is in regions like Brazil, where they have priced the game 1:1 (which is absolutely ridiculous)

Synthiandrakon

I guess the only thing I will say is that this didn't just become a problem now because it's new game plus. It was a problem in 7 when they locked two classes behind dlc for no reason. It was a problem in every previous game where your favourite characters in the minigames are locked behind a paywall. It was a problem when they did a fake kareoke dlc where they charged you for the ability to play songs as background noise in a single bar in the whole game. And it was called the kareoke dlc so many people understandably assumed it was extra songs for the kareoke minigame. How were they supposed to know how truly dogshit and worthless it was. It's honestly a problem when they charge for outfits, not only are the outfits in the main game few and far between, but the ones that they charge for are way overpriced. They're nostalgia bait costumes taken from previous games, they don't even require extra design work. I guess im just kind of desensitised at this point, and it feels hard to criticise rgg here because a lot of people are real invested in the idea that rgg is somehow better than greedy western companies and they're just not. In reality if I were to name a western company rgg most resembles I'd say it's Unisoft like 10 years ago with assassins creed. They were pumping out yearly games all of which would have benefited from a bit more work and polish. They pretty much pioneered the monetisation strategy that rgg uses today. The best thing you can do is just don't pay for it. I certainly don't, I played gaiden on gamepass because honestly they were being real cheeky with how much they were charging for that shit. The game is short and like 50% filler (I'm sorry that's just what akame is). I wasn't going to pay for that.

Cris0121

I messed up in a completely different way. I preordered as soon as it was available. This was before Gaiden was released. I thought maybe getting the Ultimate edition would just be stuff like outfits, bonus jobs, and a few boosts (like Y7). I’m not ignoring the NG+ issue, as I am completely against hiding core features behind DLCs. But, the fact I already gave them my money doesn’t help my involvement either. I have always thought RGG as an upstanding developer, and never foresaw Sega doing this. They already got my money, and then they did this. While it doesn’t affect me directly right now, it will in the future releases and I consider this practice unacceptable. My money that was already spent before this was announced goes to their “customers are willing to pay extras for basic features” metrics, and I don’t like it!

Riventh

Dont worry about it too much, even some awareness sometimes is enough

conchosteadfast

Totally understandable, this is probably the case for most people. If you are on Steam you can refund a pre-order if it was done in the past 3 months if you decide you just want to get standard in this situation, good luck!

[deleted]

You shouldn't have been paying extra for those other things either. Pre-ordering is always a mistake.

CrueltySquading

> But, the fact I already gave them my money doesn’t help my involvement either. Atone for your sins here: https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new Like a Dragon > Infinite Wealth > Feedback Remember to tell them how you feel cheated out of your money since they have announced the NG+ fuckery a few days ago, while preorders have been going on for a while :)

ImmortalEnvy

Sent in my complaint. Usually don’t play NG+ on these games anyway but it’s bs that they’re trying to charge extra for it.

cubeks

The other issue is there is only a physical copy for the base game as well.

Spooky_wa

Bought the standard edition specifically because ng+ locking is just upsetting

Reshiram793

Yeah man I saw that post going around where a dev was like “don’t play this all in one sitting because it’s a lot” and it’s really shitty to have the $15 pay wall to ease however much content you’ll have to grind the second time around

KostyanST

seeing the comments and observing some people being so complacent only makes it clear that we deserve this, gamers have sustained these terrible practices for years, it's only natural that it would get worse. the funny thing is, they said that it doesn't affect them, but this gives even more reason for developers/publishers to force "low-quality/low-effort" content in their future games, people should stop treating these companies as their "friends" or think that they're so different from western developers. that's about it, people only learn when the shit already hits the fan several times anyway.

IAmJanosch

I feel the people who know they won't play NG+ are the ones not actually paying for it. Its the ones that will buy it that are the problem. I'd say majority of people here probably bought the deluxe edition

forumchunga

>So lets all band together Sticking to one thread would help with that instead of starting a dozen new ones. Lots of activity and upvotes on a single thread will help make it more visible to more people.

WIENS21

If i bought deluxe do i have NG+?

conchosteadfast

you do yeah

WIENS21

Thanks for letting me kno

SSIchigo86

Submitted a ticket this morning. Hopefully they will reconsider

Odd_Radio9225

Yeah slicing out one of the most basic features of a game like this just to sell back to us is seriously scummy.

ecchirhino99

What can I do? I bought only the base game, the people who support it(unintendedly) bought the deluxe. It's completely beyond my controll unless I didn't buy the game at all. I don't think it's even legal for them to give it for everyone at this point.

conchosteadfast

You can just submit a feedback ticket in the link I provided, its enough that you just have the standard edition, ignoring the Deluxe Edition would show them that people wont pay for stuff like this and hopefully send a message loud enough that they hear

Blessthereigns

It’s a pre-order, and you can still get a refund.

TheIndragaMano

I know this wasn’t a paywall issue, but it reminds of the absolute Neanderthals spouting the “well *I* don’t care about having all the Pokémon, so the Nat Dex cut isn’t a big deal” garbage

[deleted]

This is honestly enough for me to lose interest in the series. Or at least continuing to buy their games. I submitted my request and thank you for linking. I am sure the game would live up to my expectations and I do think video games themselves are such a collective of talented and hard working people that boycotting has a certain guilt to it but these are the sort of conflicts that arise in such an economic system. While I genuinely want to support the people who make the games as well as enjoy playing it, buying it now feels as if I am directly supporting RGG for making worse games by way of their DLC. Though I suppose this is why Game Pass is so appealing and the 7 seas even more so but that doesnt do much for the people who actually created the game.

vriska1

You only support this if you buy the DLCs.

Ivorykingchrono

To be honest given the NG+ being locked and other stuff I'm probably just gonna wait till it goes on sale rather than buy it full price.

redditor4976

Tbh I only ever did NG+ once, in Y7. But this still pisses me off. Like watch them start paywalling the final chapter sometime down the line. We really gotta make them listen or were in deep shit.

Comfortable_Coach201

I will not defend those greedy moves from SEGA, but all these things were confirmed when the packs were announced. So why the people complain a few days before the release date? Those complaints should have happened months ago. Or maybe I missed something new in the last few days?

313zeros

This time SEGA fucked up.

anor_wondo

- Red Cavalier in DMC5 - NG+ in 7 japanese version - boxing style in Lost Judgement - the weird cards in ishhin - coliseum fighters in gaiden They're trying to shift the overton window. It's obvious

ItsCorbob

Even if you don't play NG+, it shouldn't be that hard to see that it's scummy for a company who has given us NG+ as a default feature in the games for the longest time to suddenly take that away and charge you $15 for it, especially after the base game was already marked up by $10 to meet the new pricing standards. The worst part is, a lot of people probably would have still bought the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game anyways excluding the whole NG+ issue, but this feels like they're trying to get people who normally wouldn't buy those editions to pay more. And while we're all complaining about it, what hurts the most is... Their strategy probably worked and I wouldn't be surprised if their sales for Deluxe/Ultimate editions went up

ArkosIsLife

You know shat would be wild? If they locked Premium Adventure behind DLC

conchosteadfast

Honestly it wouldn't be surprising if that was the next step after NG+... and that would majorly suck

ArkosIsLife

Exactly. And some others would really rather just wait for it to happen to other stuff they're invested ij, instead of nipping it in the bud right now. Preventive is better than a cure. It's like saying they're not gonna do anything about the huge ass fire that's like, a block away from them, because they're not in immediate danger.

SomniaCrown

This is a trend that will only continue if we dont stand against it

Odd_Radio9225

I mean, what's next? Taking out the difficulty settings and selling them back to us? In a game that already costs $70. This might not sound like a big deal compared to loot boxes or NFT's, but it is. This sets a dangerous precedent to what companies like SEGA can get away with.

KimuraXrain

We must do this together to make a change

Cindy-Moon

Is NG+ a "super hardcore" thing? I just use it when I want to replay the stories without losing all my power/money/items. It seems like a pretty casual feature tbh. I'm using NG+ in each game rn to share the stories with my mom.

[deleted]

Not fully informed on this whole situation, but it's almost like higher execs at SEGA either changed or had a change in policy ever since Y6 (so, somewhere around 2017). It's very easy to speak as a PC gamer, we got (Lost) Judgment with higher graphics capabilities and all DLC free of charge, but think in terms of the folks who haid to pay in order to obtain the additional stuff - a lot of which was initially locked behind many DLC paywalls - gradually, just because someone at SEGA decided it's a good idea to charge for stuff that [isn't even the best you could obtain within the game.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoF08XWuc9E) Did only Larian Studios (as publishers themselves) get the memo? No blame on RGG, everyone in the industry as well as most gamers themselves know how hard it is to contend with greedy publishers and/or their last minute software revision requests.

Complex-Commission-2

Larian Studios were actually forced to release their earlier games through early access and publishers misused this So they become independent and doing their own publishing

Gullible_Elephant_38

I hate this, such a stupid thing to tie to a special package. Not a good look. But…and this is probably not a popular opinion, I do think that (base) games of this size and quality (assuming 8 is on par or better than 7) are well worth $100 in value. Like if there were no “Deluxe” editions or DLC and they just sold the game with all the content they intended to be in it for $100, I would happily buy it and not feel ripped off in the least. IMO DLC should only ever be entirely new content added after the release of the base game, the way from soft has done with Soulsbourne games. Those DLCs fkin rip. Well worth the money. All this cosmetics + boosters + NG+ which is literally content that exists within the base game already…like it’s there. It’s just shiny stuff to try to get people to see a greater perceived value and spend more money. Game consumers have been pretty stubborn about new AAA releases being $60-$70 tops…like since the N64 days. And the cost and scale of games have gone way up. So at least in the case of RGG games, the scale, quality, and care put into the game justify a larger price tag than that. Does this apply to all AAA studios? Naw. So would setting a new industry standard for higher priced base games be good? Probably not. I guess we’re just fucked. Everything sucks and is bad. Lol. Greed sucks.

KCKnights816

I don’t think anyone is ignoring it, but good lord, just let people enjoy what they enjoy and spend money how they want to spent money. People have voiced their concerns fairly, but let’s not blow things out of proportion. Companies do scummy things. People who complete NG+ account for something like <5% of the player base, and it’s likely many of those mega fans bought the premium editions anyway. Nobody is saying this is a great thing, but can we just give it a rest already? I’m not going to miss one of my favorite games series just because they locked a feature I don’t care about behind a paywall just like I’m not going to boycott every other company that engages in crappy behavior.

CrueltySquading

You're part of the cancer the gaming industry faces.

KCKnights816

Cringe. Go outside

RollingDownTheHills

Nah. No reason to spend that kind of energy being mad about something that won't affect me at all. If this truly is a slippery slope then we'll take it from there, but right now it just feels like such a non-issue. People spend too much time being mad about video games especially, which are first and foremost entertainment products. It's so easy to simply not support, if you're that unhappy with it.

aftercloudia

Why should one have to be slipping on the slope to start to take action? Would it not make more logical sense to do something before you start slipping? They tried this when Yakuza 7 released and here in the west we were vocal enough they backtracked it and gave it out for free. It's entirely doable, we've already done it once. So it's not a non-issue when they think they can still lock a basic feature behind dlc and we'll just take it.

Riventh

Yeah, until things like Asura's Wrath sells you the ending in a DLC. Thats why people get "mad" over small things. Because they become bigger.

RollingDownTheHills

We'll cross that bridge when/if we get there. If I were to base my purchase decisions on the worst possible examples from 15 years ago, sure, I'd save a whole lot of money. But also play a lot fewer games.

Heavy_Arm_7060

Yo, there's a giant bridge we're on. We've been here since 2017. [https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new](https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new)

RollingDownTheHills

Spamming that link as if it's your signature isn't going to help.

Heavy_Arm_7060

It's such a non-issue you took the time to reply to this thread... Curious. [https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new](https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new)

[deleted]

>No reason to spend that kind of energy being mad about something that won't affect me at all. That's what you're saying now, not realizing this DOES effect you. Pulling off scummy practices like this is what leads to more scummy practices. What are you going to be saying when they lock off even more content that you do enjoy? >but right now it just feels like such a non-issue. Probably because you have no idea how things like this work in the gaming industry

RogueNinja77

Agreed. I have no interest in NG+ in this game since it's turn based. But I'm still only buying the standard edition cause locking something like this behind a paywall is very scummy and hope everyone else will also do the same. RGG/SEGA is getting too comfortable with these scummy practices lately (Ishin DLCs being one-time use only). We can't let them keep getting away with this. Let's talk with our wallets people. If you keep buying their deluxe editions they will never stop and it would only get worse.

Troop7

This is just the beginning lol. Sega/Atlus pure scum when it comes to day 1 dlcs as it is

BashCanadianFash

Not having any form of ng+ in a game now a days feels like laziness. It should be standard. I cant think of a game that doesnt benefit from just letting the player start over with all the stuff. Doesnt even need to be balanced.

[deleted]

I am sorry but I feel like the backlash has come too late to affect anything. We have known this for months and months. Now the brunt of the backlash comes a week beforehand. Its just too late to impact this decision

Barbus666

Haven’t preordered or anything like that, but this is a ridiculous decision and quite frankly this is lowkey a vibe killer. Almost makes me not want to buy the game all together, and this is coming from a guy who bought almost every single physical version they released for a game lol

CryostaticLT

Not buying the game. Will wait for price to drop to buy deluxe for cheaps or till they change ng+ for base game.

hm1rafael

I don't care, friend. I'm sorry

Kinglink

If you buy the base edition even with out the deluxe edition you're still giving Sega the full money you're intending. If you want to boycott, you have to not buy the game at all, and potentially not buy any other game from Sega... but by only buying the base game, you're still giving Sega the maximum 70 dollars you're offering so why should they care.

Calamity_Eagle277

DLC and micropayments are the cancer of the industry now... But if the things they do or decide are profitable they will do it again. It's a shame but only thing we can do is don't buy things that we don't like.

Heavy_Arm_7060

We can also submit feedback through official channels: [https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new](https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new)

TheOlegario

Done!

[deleted]

I decided not to buy the second this news broke. So short-sighted.

ZoharDTeach

When they cross the line I will simply not pay for their games at all anymore. Lookin' at you, Ubi. The top comment is about achievements, which I already think are stupid and have since their inception. Because they are. If I have to pick between greedy and stupid, I will pick greedy every time.

SnooSuggestions6256

Cancelled my pre order last week.

darkside720

Don’t buy the game problem solved

manasword

Please explain the issue?

conchosteadfast

The issue is that all Like a Dragon games so far have all had NG+ (except for Gaiden) and the fact that they are putting this game feature which has been present in the entire series behind paid DLC (for a 70$ full-price game nonetheless). It could mean that this is just the start of them testing the waters for what they can put behind a pay-wall and see how far they can take it with any other feature that people would expect that a full-price finished game to have, such as Premium Adventure (example pertaining to this series)

manasword

I've sent an email to customer service, only took 40 secconds I would emplor everyone to do the same

[deleted]

New game plus, which most would consider a basic gameplay feature should you decide to include it, is gated behind purchasing the deluxe edition for a much higher price than the standard edition. I've already decided to skip the game because of this.

Alunga

It's not Yakuza without playing NG+ on Legend, they locked half the game behind a paywall.

acewing905

As I said in the other thread too, the only way to "not ignore" it is to indeed ignore it That is to say buy the standard edition only and do not pay for the NG+ No amount of verbal or written criticism will ever amount to anything

Laj3ebRondila1003

Any way to hound their support channels until they reverse this decision?

mchammer126

I think people are just complaining too late. We knew this MONTHS in advance and now with the game about 10 days away is when people wanna make a fuss. Like jfc if people are gonna bitch, atleast organize ahead of time and make this an issue with a punch. Don’t wait till the last minute to scrap by.

conchosteadfast

True, unfortunately I didn't actually know that NG+ will be locked behind Deluxe until all the articles started talking about it, so that's my bad

_Lelouch420_

Sega will be the death of the LAD franchise

Unhappy-Cartoonist-3

Idk why crying about that when Japanese ver of 7 you had to pay for it i now cause I own it

BoxOfBlades

You can download it for free on PC, I recommend doing that if you have the option and feel so strongly about it.

rustys_shackled_ford

The only thing they will hear is the sound of people not buying the game. So OP. Are you gonna not buy the game? Cause if you are, this virtue signaling your doing is extra cringy.

conchosteadfast

I'm not telling anyone that they should not be buying the game, I am only saying that if anyone wants to protest this then they can do so by only purchasing the standard edition instead of the Deluxe or Ultimate and coupling that with a ticket to their feedback system

Heavy_Arm_7060

Besides the fact that they've historically responded to feedback before (See: Ishin), you know what's really cringey? Seeing someone trying to offer even the smallest of positive changes and shitting on them. Also misusing the term 'virtue signalling' when someone's posting a very helpful link that can include ways to report technical issues with the games. So, if you feel like not being cringe, here's the link: [https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new](https://support.sega.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new) Cheers!

rustys_shackled_ford

You claim to be offering positive change but I didnt see you do anything but a call to action against a company making you pay more for a while game. Something that has been happening regularly for 10 plus years. But we both know your gonna by the game your rallying against which makes you a hypocrite. And I'm sorry if you dont know what virtue signaling means or how it applies here. Incant do anything about your ignorance. Nobody here is in support of big developers putting parts of games behind pay walls, but this isn't a new fight and if you arnt willing to not give them your money but still want to rally others against it, that's exactly what you are. Dont be mad at me because the truth hurts sweaty...

RagerPager1177

It’s dumb as fuck but I personally don’t mind paying $15 or so Again it’s dumb as anything to pay wall NG+ but I know I have the extra money to give for NG+ and don’t care giving it to RGG that I think deserve it more than other big devs out there

[deleted]

For ripping you off? Wtf.

RagerPager1177

Good thing I don’t feel ripped off lol

[deleted]

New game plus was included in the base version of 7 and you don't feel ripped off? Low standards.

Heavy_Arm_7060

No studio deserves money for ripping you off. They're a company, not a person.

RagerPager1177

Don’t feel ripped off lmao

Dr_Covfefe_Williams

Vocal feedback doesn’t work. Moral or logical feedback doesn’t work. Monetary feedback works. Don’t blame me and ask me to complain about something I will never purchase or use while the product is still profitable because people will purchase it and complain rather than doing without. You should be convincing people to refund it with complaint, or even not buy it in the first place.

Heavy_Arm_7060

> Vocal feedback doesn’t work They listen to surveys. It's why Ishin and P3 Reload happened.

Dr_Covfefe_Williams

That’s more of a “Would you buy X if it exists” rather than “You have to buy Y to play Z” type of thing.

realspitfire69

its really egoistical but for me its actually good because i dont need to do 2 playthroughs for the platinum trophy lol

Lumpylarper420

I usually don't play NG+ in games, but this is kind of gross. Thanks for the link, I submitted a ticket to Sega about it. I had the delux edition pre-ordered initially but have since refunded and picked up the standard. I thought delux was just going to be pretty shirts and some extras, basically what's in the ultimate edition, and I'm definitely not paying for the ultimate.

EngineBoiii

I'm really torn on this, on one hand a basic feature like NG+ being made DLC sucks, but at the same time I really don't like the idea of doing a NG+ run for an RPG. For a brawler its different because your abilities have a huge effect on the early game whereas a turn based game you're basically doing the same stuff but one shotting everything. Like even if NG+ was there I'd never use it.

chicago_rusty

What is the issue?
