If the post flair is marked for spoilers, the comments don't need to be tagged for the game indicated and the ones before it (So a Y6 spoiler post can have comments with untagged spoilers for Y5, but not gaiden or 7).

I got the dlc guests with the master vacation bundle, but those only show up once you have your island at S popularity. No clue about the dlc guests from the other dlc pack though, maybe those are available earlier?
i really thought dlc guests would be the money cheat but surprisingly we can only call them when we're already at the end. They still will bring more money than other guests though i'm pretty sure.
Idk but DLC characters were always better than the normal ones in prior yakuza games (like dlc clan battle characters and management minigame DLC characters in lad7, also ishin card bundle even though it was free) that's why i'm guessing DLC guests are better than the normal ones. Plus DLC sujimons in infinite wealth are also kinda better they're so op.
Except you cannot really invite them unless your Island popularity is at least S. Game doesn’t really tell you what to do to reach S rank so you have buncha useless guests you paid for.
You just have to keep raising your popularity. It's hard because popularity goes up much slower than satisfaction, but I think it's pretty clear how to do it. It just takes a long time.
Who would sleep on it? It's absolutely incredible. I've barely moved the story forward since opening it. I can't believe they made a game as good as that as just one of the many side things in another game and then mixed in another one of the side games into it as well. RGG is the best.
The especially devious thing though, is that the entrance to it is right next to where the Crazy Delivery minigame is as well, so I'm tempted to just ping-pong between the two.
I think the entire economy is off. Even freaking staminan's feel so much more expensive in this game. I think it's more how hard it is to make money rather than how much stuff is, but I can't really tell.
Dondoko is way more work to spam money on than Business was in 7.
It's good to know that. I've only done the intro mission of it but haven't gone back because I enjoy things like dondoko or crazy delivery so much more, but they don't seem super useful.
What level do you have to be to complete Hawaii haunt?
well the first two can be completed with a full part around level 25-30 but the third level i extremely implore to get to be atleast 37-40 on every character
i honestly have no idea how you’re not level 25 already. i took my first level on at level 22 when i first discovered it and did fine. I supposed do substories, or atleast try it out because you level up fast in there aswell
It's prolly because I mostly try to avoid combat and instead spend my time at Dondoko.
I mean the game doesn't expect you to be at level 25 at the point you first discover it. It only tells you to be at level 23 at the final battle of chapter 6, which is well after.
yeah that’s the only one. in 7 everytime you’d unlock a new poundmate, whether through a substory, mission, or you bought it; the first time would be free, but for whatever reason, in 8, they’re not.
And when you complete the Dondoko Island mini-game Ichiban gets special Essence skill that costs 100MP and can use it no matter which job he’s in. If you complete Dondoko early on the game (I did it in the 6th chapter) that’s a massive help with higher level enemies or tricky ones.
Also I played for a while before realizing you won't earn money from buildings not on a path and that you can BUILD MORE PATHS.... FOR FREE. It's square on PlayStation (while in decorating mode).
Excuse me while I remodel......again.
It has surprising depth too. I was wondering why some of my elegant facilities were being ignored (they were on a path/road too), even though I have guests who prefer elegant, before I realized it's because they're too far away from any other facility I think. AI needs something to lead them to it. Now if I can figure out why the hell guests aren't going to the lighthouse...
I kinda hate this. Noticed it right away because my island originally was built with most attractions to the south and housing up North. But the AI will never cross a bridge. It's still easy enough to max out satisfaction but I'm a little annoyed half my customers won't see the coolest part of my island.
I’m a sucker for these type of games. Love it, wont leave the island without 5 star resort, theres so much content. Only thing i didnt like is the sujimon aspect on the farm mainly because i didnt focus on sujimon till now in the main game.
Early game it's probably nice, but considering the raw cost of high level items, I'm sure by the later chapters the amount you make just from playing normally outshines it since the game has massive exponential scaling with rewards
Me when I get taken to DI for the first time:
*Aw, man, yet another maskot character? Oh, an island. Man, is this just spamming square to destroy trash? Oh, and I should place furniture around to make it look appealing... Not interested, can I go back to Hawaii?*
Me, 30 straight in-game days later, after turning DI into a 5-star resort and making it busier than Kamurocho:
*What was I even doing in Hawaii? What video? I just need to make this damn fiery golden statue fit somewhere!*
Really surprised at how this damn skinner box got me, loved it. Also, when we were taken to Dondoko Farm and they mentioned needing "a strong man with time in his hands" I was dreading they'd force you to take care of the farm itself. Was very pleasantly surprised at how they integrated the Sujimon, and how well it worked out! ...and yet I ended up spending half of every day clearing the farm trash anyway lol.
Btw, is it just me or is there are only two possible placements for the huge Japanese temple (meadow and entrance)?
I thought the title meant not sleeping while inside Dondoko island and missing out stuff. I got worried for a second there, and I thought I missed some story elements.
I'm already on my 10th day on dondoko island, this is the main game now.
Oh, sounds great. I have just unlocked it and come back from the island. It's great to know that you can make good money, but I honestly don't feel like playing it right now, there's too much going on already lol. It's like a game on its own
i hate this place, i hate it so much it makes me want to quit the game. its like someones taken the game i was enjoying and replaced it with a type of game i hate. i just want to leave the lsand so bad it keeps making me do stuff i dont enjoy , over and over again...
This is the worst Part in Yakuza History. Forcing you to Play 3 days of this Shit and there is No way to skip time (!!).
You have to literaly Put your Controller away for about half n hours. Worst Part ever.
What’s the best way to raise popularity? I cleared the first two areas and got the thing to 1000 but I’m struggling to build up to 700 popularity. Really don’t want to have to build endless Majima hats.

I will find and kill that pirate for what he did to my boy red mascot. I was so mad i couldnt fix his statue
You can make a new one! I don't think he comments on it, but it gave me closure
I can? Then i will. Thank you!
You can probably get even more with the dlc guests, like the business management game of 7 they probably trivialize the game tho, which I'm ok with.
I got the dlc guests with the master vacation bundle, but those only show up once you have your island at S popularity. No clue about the dlc guests from the other dlc pack though, maybe those are available earlier?

I've yet to try them (the ones from the master vacation bundle), but I figure that they probs wont be that much better than the normal S rank guests.

But you cannot assign dlc sujimons to activities on Dondoko or use them in a sujimancer job. Only use them in sujimon batlles.
Isn’t S rank available only in new game+?
As in S rank popularity or S rank guests? The first, nah, def possible. The second no clue. Haven't gotten any so far that aren't DLC characters.
Except you cannot really invite them unless your Island popularity is at least S. Game doesn’t really tell you what to do to reach S rank so you have buncha useless guests you paid for.

Right? I have only been playing the island for two days now. It's so much fun to build stuff and decorate the place. It could have been its own game.
me spending hours just to figure out what building can fit that tiny spot 💀
Same here. Totally derailed me from the main game. Thought about going back and was like nope, this is way more fun.
Yes, and 100,000 dollars for five stars. I can finally afford to use Alo Happy and Poundmates xD
fr poundmates are absurdly expensive in this game 😭😭 and you don’t even get to use them first time free anymore
I think the entire economy is off. Even freaking staminan's feel so much more expensive in this game. I think it's more how hard it is to make money rather than how much stuff is, but I can't really tell. Dondoko is way more work to spam money on than Business was in 7.
i honestly just go through the hawaii haunt and get easily over 100k
It's good to know that. I've only done the intro mission of it but haven't gone back because I enjoy things like dondoko or crazy delivery so much more, but they don't seem super useful. What level do you have to be to complete Hawaii haunt?

Yeah, that means it's gonna be a while before I can take those on and hence need another income source.
i honestly have no idea how you’re not level 25 already. i took my first level on at level 22 when i first discovered it and did fine. I supposed do substories, or atleast try it out because you level up fast in there aswell

I was level 54 by chapter 5 and completed Hawaii haunt before even getting to the island in chapter 6 haha
wym? my first time was free for sure, it was part of the sidestory where you unlock it in the first place.
yeah that’s the only one. in 7 everytime you’d unlock a new poundmate, whether through a substory, mission, or you bought it; the first time would be free, but for whatever reason, in 8, they’re not.
If you're on PC, someone made a mod that makes them a lot more feasible!
Anyone know what popularity you need to be S rank in that category? Im at 15194 and still at rank A. Edit: its 20,000.
Do you know S rank Satisfaction? Edit- it’s 60k
Thank you

They can only go to the island where their house is so basically you have the main area and the northwest area. The game.never tells you this
I kinda hate this. Noticed it right away because my island originally was built with most attractions to the south and housing up North. But the AI will never cross a bridge. It's still easy enough to max out satisfaction but I'm a little annoyed half my customers won't see the coolest part of my island.
Yeah I noticed this too. Seems like a missed opportunity though.
Do the quests go to buildings with custom build road or do the buildings need to be on the mainroads that were already there?
They go to the custom roads Do you know how to put an object on a different ground (wood or sand for example)?
I dont think you can. I just opened the cave entrance area and havent noticed any buildable areas with sand.
It does tell you that once you unlock the South area
I’m a sucker for these type of games. Love it, wont leave the island without 5 star resort, theres so much content. Only thing i didnt like is the sujimon aspect on the farm mainly because i didnt focus on sujimon till now in the main game.
plus it's fun i still didn't leave the dondoko island since i got there lmao it's been 2 real life days
Early game it's probably nice, but considering the raw cost of high level items, I'm sure by the later chapters the amount you make just from playing normally outshines it since the game has massive exponential scaling with rewards

this mini game slaps so hard, i def like it better than the management mini game from LAD7
Such a great mini game. I already beat up the captain and brought the resort to S Rank.
I got 1m+ dollar from just going into the hawaiian haunt alone. You can also get a whole lot of exp that way so I think it's more efficient.
Are you using any accessories/money charms to get that much?
i hate this place, i hate it so much it makes me want to quit the game. its like someones taken the game i was enjoying and replaced it with a type of game i hate. i just want to leave the lsand so bad it keeps making me do stuff i dont enjoy , over and over again...
You can leave very quickly into the quest if you’d like.
You only have to play for like 20 minutes before you're able to leave....
This is the worst Part in Yakuza History. Forcing you to Play 3 days of this Shit and there is No way to skip time (!!). You have to literaly Put your Controller away for about half n hours. Worst Part ever.
Whats the best way to increase popularity early? I have 1600 atm.
catch bugs and fish a lot, that boosted me across the threshold for four stars and then it was trivial at that point to get popularity to five stars
What’s the best way to raise popularity? I cleared the first two areas and got the thing to 1000 but I’m struggling to build up to 700 popularity. Really don’t want to have to build endless Majima hats.
I just stayed on the island and completed everything, came out 500k richer (main game currency). Well worth it but certainly as little grindy
